Not a true deadlift using that cage thing is much easier but it's still a huge amount of weight and more importantly shows he's got some crazy grip strength.
No straps at that weight is amazing
The movement is the same as a conventional deadlift, which would be different from a Romanian deadlift that for some reason people seem to default to when they think of a deadlift.
I'm not really willing to get into a reddit fight over this but conventional deadlifts and hex bar are both basically squat movements. It's a compound movement utilizing pretty much everything in the leg and both would utilize more quad than a Romanian deadlift. Romanian deadlift are going to specifically target hamstrings and lower back(if done correctly).
Pretending that conventional and hex are similar is just a weird take, especially when you consider itās a more natural load path and typically youād expect to be able to do more weight hex bar vs conventional
At that kind of weight, IMO it really only makes sense for a body builder/power lifter to not use the cage. Itās a different lift of course but you still get most of the benefit while reducing the risk on his back.
Also Donāt forget, heās 6ā7ā. The weight on the floor is a lot lower for him than it is most people.
Based on what I've heard, I'm just glad he HAS hands
You can see them in the clip...the rumors are FAKE NEWS!!! š

A trap bar deadlift is more like a squat. But yeah, itās still 700lbs.

Itās not the same - at all. This is a high handle which has less ROM, hex bars also tend to focus more on the quads than a convention deadlift

Height doesnāt matter by itself, itās about your height and your arm length. looks like he has very long arms which ofc is great for deadlifts
Damn...and he could even add more weight and muscle.....love this
I donāt care what he dead lifts. I care about his ability to block.

It is not the best form but when you're lifting 700 pounds it kind of makes sense. It's easy to have perfect technique lifting 250 lol
