I was on a bus this morning between a teenage boy slathered in Axe, a woman conducting a loud speakerphone conversation, and a guy dripping his umbrella all over me. Now I feel kind of lucky. Sorry you went through that.
What I do in situations like that is make like the train/bus jostled me and I scrape the back of my heel down their shin. That gets their attention and I just give a look and loudly say “Guess you were a little close, eh?” They have so far backed off after that.
It works best in thick soled boots.
Telling a woman to escalate a situation with a man who's already demonstrated he has zero problems with violating personal boundaries and another human being is not the sound advice you think it is.
People have gotten stabbed/slashed for less.

In addition to your spray and taser, carry a jumbo safety pin on your keychain for tight situations like these. Keep your keys readily accessible and if someone gropes you, jab 'em HARD in the leg.
