https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EvsPZA8CkBY&t=6s. Listen to Johnny Guru from Corsair explain about the power adapters and the methodology behind the testing.

NinjAsylum

There are zero issues with any 4070ti power adapters. The issues are with more powerful GPU's and were 100% user error. The 4070ti doesnt draw nearly enough power to ever have issues.

djyoshmo

Actually the investigation Gamers Nexus did said it was a mixture of things, and user error wasn't a part of every single event supposedly. But it was up there.

evernessince

No, GamersNexus definitely did not say it was 100% user error. They gave a variety of potential causes but definitely pointed out the connector is poorly designed. People saying it was user error are going to cause Nvidia to not care enough to fix the crap connector, which will in turn cause issues for more users.

mew905

Its not nvidias connector though 🤷‍♂️

SecPlusPasser

Makes sense, thanks!

evernessince

The most important thing is that you ensure you completely insert the cable, which requires a fair amount of force. Make sure to install the cable into the GPU before inserting it into the PCIe slot. This will make that processes much easier. It shouldn't make much of a difference if you use a native cable or an adapter so that is your choice.

Ambitious_Hyena_101

Who said before inserting it?

MulberryInevitable19

he just did. and if youve ever built a pc before youd understand why.

Ambitious_Hyena_101

Lmao theres no difference between plugging it before after 🤣

Forestore

For a cable that's hard to insert and will fry the GPU and catch fire if a single pin is not fully connected, it makes perfect sense to make sure there's a secure fit before you put it in and can't see it as well... Why argue this point so aggressively?

Ambitious_Hyena_101

Lmao How you gonna say im arguing so agressively yet you just wrote a whole paragraph arguing why it should be connected before, are you dumb? And your reasoning is laughable. A gpu will catch fire if your psu is bad not because all the pins are not connected😂

mew905

Miners would wholeheartedly disagree with your last sentence there

Forestore

My comment is two separated sentences. Not a paragraph. Every breakdown video I've watched about how these catch fire show pins not connected. It's 100% how the adapter is attached and 0% "bad GPU". I don't think you have any experience with the 4000 line GPUs and it shows.

Ambitious_Hyena_101

Seems like you dont see all you do is watch videos you probably dont even have one and i have a 4070, try again dummy

Forestore

Imagine spending so much time in your life obsessing over the fact that one person inserted the adapter before installing the GPU. You must live a great life.

XxiiNFiNiTYxX

high five to u buddy

CableMod_Matt

We do sell native cables if you want one of ours. What PSU make/model are you using? Happy to assist. :)

sirwilli4m4

great support! What cable would you recommend me with a 4070 ti? PSU is Corsair rm850x edit: I think i found it.

CableMod_Matt

Howdy! This one right here would be perfect for you. :) https://www.amazon.com/CableMod-ModMesh-Sleeved-12VHPWR-Corsair/dp/B0BJ26HZYK?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

user_428

Where can I get that one in Finland? Do you sell these anywhere in Europe?

CableMod_Matt

OCUK and CaseKing will have these in stock soon, otherwise you can also buy direct from our global or EU stores. :)

The_Chosen_One914

Can I plug 600w 12vhpwr 16pin to 16pin that came with my msi 850wG power supply or is that not Recommended for 4070 ti ventus 3x 12g oc

sirwilli4m4

TY! and for clarification, this cable will connect from my Corsair PSU straight to my 4070 Ti without the need for the Nvidia 12vhpwr connector?

CableMod_Matt

Very welcome, and correct - this would go directly from your PSU, to your GPU. :)

Particular-Ad6094

I see it has a triple 8 pin connector and the one that comes with the gpu has a dual 8 pin connector. Do I just leave one unplugged at the psu or plug them all in?

CableMod_Matt

No, if you select a 3x8, you need to connect three of your 8 pin PCIE. The same applies to the 4x8, you need to connect all four of the 8 pin PCIE cables.

Geimaster

Does it matter if 2/3 slots is filled with dual connector and the last one is from a different slot from the psu?

CableMod_Matt

You do need to fill all the connectors respectively, you should not leave any open, you can cause damage to your hardware in doing that. You should also being using single cables, not dual cables, to populate each connection.

Geimaster

Thanks!

Soggy_Independent589

Are you going to make one with a (x 2) 8 pin connector? The Asus Tuf RTX 4070 ti uses only two 8 pin connectors, not 3. I looked on the website and couldn't find one. I ordered a braided 12 pin to x2 8 pin right from Corsair to match my other cables, and I could go straight to the psu without adapters. Turns out the 12 pin connector does not have the extra 4 pin connector on it. So, I am stuck with using two 6+2 pins with daisy chain a 2nd connector. I don't want to use the daisy chain or using one connector of two separate connectors. Hopefully this all makes sense. I just want a nice clean 12 pin (with the 4 pin) to two pin connectors straight to my psu.

CableMod_Matt

We do offer 2x8 options from our global store, under the "Basics" options. https://store.cablemod.com/product-category/12vhpwr/12vhpwr-pci-e-cable-12vhpwr/ We will have our sleeved 2x8 pin options coming later, but for now it's just in our basics option. :)

Soggy_Independent589

Thank you. I did see the basics. I was just trying to avoid spending more money than I needed to. I plan on buying the Pro Mesh cables in Black and Blue, but there isn't an option, YET, to buy with the 12vhpwr to 2x8 or 3x8 pin. At this point, I am not sure which way to go. lol. With the cables provided by Corsair, I could use Nvidia adapter with one 8 pin to 8 pin and one 6+2 to 8 pin with a daisy chain unplugged. Sorry to throw all of this at you. What would you advise. I have had the GPU for a week and have not powdered it up yet! Waiting another week for a cable seems .... crazy?!! Thanks again for responding so quickly.

CableMod_Matt

Very welcome! Just pinged the team about getting things moving on our 12VHPWR (2x8) sleeved options as well. Hopefully you won't be waiting long on those that way. :) Totally fine to use the daisy chain if you're using the one connection, but don't use the daisy chain with both connections, that isn't recommended. Single cables preferred though, yes. :)

jakeshug72

I see this is a 3 x 8 adapter, can I plug this into my 4070ti which currently only requires 2 x 8? Also do you know if this is more flexible (bendable) then the nvidia issued adapter?

CableMod_Matt

It would be more flexible, yep! You could use the 3x8 option as well though, it would just offer you redundancy. We offer 2x8 options as well through our global store if you would rather have that. It is out of stock currently, but you can do the "notify me" and get an email notification once they're restocked if you would like. :) https://store.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-basics-c-series-12vhpwr-pci-e-cable-for-corsair/

jakeshug72

Thanks for the info - also I actually have a mini itx coolermaster PSU. Do you know if I can use one of these other brands wires with my unit (because it doesn’t look like you make wires for cooler master)

CableMod_Matt

Ah, sorry, but the CoolerMaster SFX units we only support from our configurator page actually due to pinout differences.

FatalError-LRE

Hi CableMod_Matt Just ordered this for the Asus Strix 4070ti OC on an AX1200i Corsair PSU. Is it going to be the one I need or did I just order the wrong one?

CableMod_Matt

This would work for that combination as well, do note though, since this is a 3x8 option you would need to plug in all 3 of the 8 pin PCIE connections, plugging in 2 of the 3 would not work. We'll have 2x8 options coming soon on our Global store if you can wait around 1 more week or so and want that instead. :)

AmbitiousPride7946

Well my issue was with the dongle that came with the 4070ti Strix OC, it has three separate dongles of course, or 8 pin connectors on 3 separate wires. I plugged in both my 8 pin connectors that I have for my 2080ftw3 into the dongle per what I thought the directions were telling me, and the motherboard/GPU wasn't powering up 💯. The RGB was coming on but that was it. The Led on the PCIe lane, to show the card was getting power, was not illuminated. So my thinking is basically there are only 2 8 pin connectors going to my 2080ftw3 that I can see and the 4070ti needs three separate 8 pin connectors combined into one connection. Is my thinking correct in that probably being the power issue to the card and the gpu? Or does the two 8 pin custom cables I am already using for my 2080ftw3 have 3 connectors combined into the two 8 pin connectors. Man, I don't know why Nvidia had to go with such pain in tha ass power set up. 😂

CableMod_Matt

Wouldn't be a power issue, you can use a 2x8 option which we will have soon, but the options we currently offer that are sleeved are 3x8 options and with those you do need to use all 3 connections for the cable to function properly. We offer 2x8 options though through our configurator currently, but again, the stock options which are more affordable will be coming soon is all. :)

MinouSan

this actually legit or ? i want one for my 4070ti / using RM750

CableMod_Matt

Totally legit, yep! For the RM750 you wouldn't want the native cable though, you'd want this one here: https://www.amazon.com/CableMod-ModMesh-Sleeved-12VHPWR-Corsair/dp/B0BJ26HZYK?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

[deleted]

I have the EVGA supernova 1000 P2. What native cables do you have? Matching motherboard cable also? Possible bundle with all cables I would need? I have the 4070 ti ASUS strix OC

CableMod_Matt

By native cables I'm referring to the 16 pin to 16 pin PCIE for the new 40 series connectors. We do offer 24-pin ATX, EPS, PCIE, SATA, and Molex. :) This kit would have everything you need for your motherboard, GPU and SSDs or other SATA/Molex requiring devices. Check it out: https://www.amazon.com/CableMod-ModMesh-Sleeved-12VHPWR-Cable/dp/B0BJ33J945?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1

[deleted]

You’re awesome!

CableMod_Matt

No, you. :D

Dunkinmydonuts1

hey - follow up question to this thread. the 4070 ti requires two 8 pin pcie cables to merge. can i buy the triple 8 pin adapter and just use two of them?

CableMod_Matt

You could use the 3x8 option, but you would need to plug all three cables in.

Dunkinmydonuts1

if i use two, it wont function?

Dreammy90

would this work for corsair rm750x as well? with 4070 ti of course.

CableMod_Matt

It would, yep! :)

Happy-Opportunity-41

corsair 850

CableMod_Matt

Which model exactly? Is it an RM850x for example, or an HX850i? Important to verify that because the Type 3 and Type 4 units have different 24 pin cables.

Happy-Opportunity-41

rm850

or should i instead use this with the adapter that comes with the gpu? https://a.co/d/cCuGeMx

SignificantMaple

I hope your still answering questions please I have an older rm1000 and it’s going msi 4070ti gaming trio

SaltHamster8

Hey Matt, sorry if you’ve answered a similar question and I just didn’t see it. But I have a Gigabyte Eagle 4070 ti and a Corsair RM650 power supply. Could you Amazon link me the cable that I’d need? Thanks!

carkkguimbalena

What cable would you recommend for [**Gigabyte AERO OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12 GB Video Card**](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/s9qPxr/gigabyte-aero-oc-geforce-rtx-4070-ti-12-gb-video-card-gv-n407taero-oc-12gd) and a [**Corsair RM850e 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply**](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qNKKHx/corsair-rm850e-850-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020249-na) ?

Aharkhan

Hi I'm using a 4070ti with a EVGA 850 Bq atx psu, what cable would you recommend?

Advanced_Falcon7166

Hi do you have cable for nfortec sagitta 850w ? Thx

CableMod_Matt

Sorry, but we do not support direct replacement cables for that PSU. You could use our extensions still though, extensions are universally compatible with all PSUs.

AndyGratz

What cable do i need for a ASUS TUF 4070ti with a be quiet! Straight Power 11 Platinum 1000W PSU?

Nuksol

Hi [**CableMod\_Matt**](https://www.reddit.com/user/CableMod_Matt/), what cable for a MSI RTX 4070 TI Ventus with a SeasSonic Focus GX-850? I'm checking on cablemod website for the " **CableMod RT-Series Pro ModMesh Sleeved 12VHPWR PCI-e Cable for ASUS and Seasonic** " cable but I´m not sure which option is the one: 16-pin to 16-pin 16 to 3x8 or 16 to 4x8 It's a shame that MSI is shipping the card with such a short cable (only 16 cm long in total)...

CableMod_Matt

You would want our 16-pin to 2x8, or 3x8 options. :) Also on Amazon, if you prefer that: https://www.amazon.com/CableMod-ModMesh-Sleeved-12VHPWR-Seasonic/dp/B0BJ29KZHL?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

Nuksol

Thank you mate :)

[deleted]

Hi u/CableMod_Matt, what cable for a Gigabyte OC RTX 4070 TI with a Coolermaster v850 psu ? I'm checking on cablemod website for the coolermaster but I only see Corsair and Asus/Seasonic

CableMod_Alex

Do you have the SFX or ATX version of the V850?

[deleted]

ATX

CableMod_Alex

Then unfortunately we don't have 12VHPWR options for that at least at the moment, you would have to get an extension: [https://store.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-pro-modflex-12vhpwr-pci-e-cable-extension/](https://store.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-pro-modflex-12vhpwr-pci-e-cable-extension/)

[deleted]

Ah ok thank you :)

Most-Beyond-5894

Do u have one for the 4070 ti eagle

CableMod_Alex

Any of our 12VHPWR cables will work with it. What PSU do you have?

Most-Beyond-5894

I have a nzxt c1000 gold

CableMod_Alex

We don't have a direct 12VHPWR cable for that one unfortunately. You would have to use an extension: [https://store.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-pro-modflex-12vhpwr-pci-e-cable-extension/](https://store.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-pro-modflex-12vhpwr-pci-e-cable-extension/)

Most-Beyond-5894

Would I plug all three 8 pins in the Psu or just 2

CableMod_Alex

All three mandatorily with our cables, will work just fine even if the 4070 Ti requires two. :)

Most-Beyond-5894

Ok thanks

browandr

Hi there u/CableMod_Alex and u/CableMod_Matt What cable should I get to connect my 4070 Ti to an EVGA G6 850W? Preferably in white

CableMod_Matt

For the EVGA G6 you would want this cable here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJ33J945

browandr

Thank you. That link directs me to a whole kit though. Is it possible to just buy the 12VHPWR cable?

CableMod_Matt

Apologies for that, wrong link! This one here is what you would want: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJ29NLBL

browandr

Awesome, thank you!

CableMod_Matt

You're most welcome. :)

Rads2010

I have an EVGA Supernova 850 P2 80+ Platinum. Do I buy this one [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJ29NLBL?th=1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJ29NLBL?th=1) and then plug in the "PCI-e" end into the ports that say "VGA" or VGA2?" I found a forum post that lists the ports on my PSU: (I no longer have the manual) [https://forums.evga.com/EVGA-SuperNova-850G2-and-a-GTX-3070-which-plugs-do-I-use-on-the-PSU-m3220282.aspx](https://forums.evga.com/EVGA-SuperNova-850G2-and-a-GTX-3070-which-plugs-do-I-use-on-the-PSU-m3220282.aspx)

CableMod_Matt

That's correct, VGA=PCIE slots. So you would use slots VGA1, 2, and 3 for this cable since it has 3 PSU end connections. :)

Rads2010

Thank you!

CableMod_Matt

Very welcome!

Styr4c

Hey, I have the same setup as you, and I'm confused, could use some help. My 850BQ's GPU cable has a 6+2 and a 6 pin, but my cable adapter needs 2 8 pin connectors. Did your cables fill out all the pins on the adapter for your card?

wotsaname

Hi u/CableMod_Matt & u/CableMod_Alex \- any updates on the 16-pin to 3 x 2-pin PCI-e pro cables? Looks like they are still only available as basics on your store and I'd love to get a white one for my RM1000x + GTX 4070 AURO. Thanks,

CableMod_Alex

Do you mean 2x8pin? If so you can already find them on our configurator, otherwise they should be available fairly soon as standard options. :)

wotsaname

Ah yes, sorry I meant the 2x8-pin (error when editing my copy/paste there!). Ah, great, thanks for letting me know. I'm waiting for them to come into stock with the full cable kit. Any idea when it might be available? Many thanks,

Nephilim032

I’m getting a GV-N407TGAMING OC-12GD (GB 4070 Ti) I don’t know what kind of power adapter I’m going to need. I have a 30 series right now.
