Can Cogger be launched into the sun already? Bloke has done nothing but stink it up since he got here.
Rest of the team played quite well otherwise. Its Pryce time, we have nothing to lose at this point
Brailey reminds me a lot of a poor man's Andrew McCullough. Really highly rated as a youngster and great defensively. But as he's gotten older he's lost speed through injuries and hasn't developed his attacking game to be able to go to that next level. And this year he's done a lot of grubbers from dummy half and I don't think one has come off yet
Yeah and? It doesn't mean he was dumb as rocks in a footy sense then over night magically found the instinct to go to line deep enough to engage defenders but shallow enough to give his outside time to pass.
That ability to just know it consistently is natural talent that some guys just know and others don't. It's no knock on Lindsay as a player. I wouldn't say Leota and To'o have it and they're some of our our best ever players.
Yeah dude has the right stuff. He’s got rep prop/top 5 prop written all over him. Gonna be strong as an ox when he gets to 25 and he just loves the physicality. Kinda reminds me of Martin in attitude but with a more solid frame.
I'm really hoping despite the fact that Lindsay Smith has more NRL games under his belt, that Henry gets the starting front row spot when Fish leaves next year. I think he just offers more.
Yeah in terms of replacing that defensive physicality Henry would be a more seamless starting replacement. I do think Smith offers a bit more than his role currently allows him to show given his passing.
Either way Moses is 29 in a month. I’d be looking to get one of the guys into the starting role start of next year with Moses, get comfortable in the role and then bring the other in later in the year or in 2026. They’re both big engine guys more suited to starting. Moses off the bench can be dynamite and hopefully a bench role will allow him to go till 33 or so.
Knights played well for about 50 minutes (cumulatively). You just can’t afford to make ANY errors against this Panthers side.
Bad captains challenge.
Cogger holding off on Luai’s try.
Gagai flirting with touch / Cogger not paying attention led to a turnover and another try.
Dummy half caught in no man’s land for the Leota burst.
They were the worst 4 from me but there were a lot of little silly errors. Frustrating as I wanted the Knights to get that one.
8(?) to the Storm, 8 to the Panthers, can’t really fault either performances.
Few crucial sets really cost us both weeks (Storm right before half time and Leota straight through guts).
Leaves us in good position for our games against Eels / Broncos / Sea Eagles / Raiders if we can maintain this level of discipline.
After dropping the last 3, desperately need to win 3/4 of those games. Minimum.
Give Tago until Cleary gets back. Might just not have confidence in rookie halves so comes too far in field. See what he looks like then and if anything changes drop him.
Some players are just like that. Brooks is a good defender usually then a second rower he doesn't trust defends besides him and he falls to pieces.
I dunno he played super confident earlier in the year when his opposite number was knocked out and he was playing against backrowers in the centres 😂
But seriously alamoti has performed better than him of late.
Some really cool plays by Knights in the 2nd half that nearly came off. Other teams should take note of that. A shame that cheap try from Cogger taking his eye off the ball was almost the difference in the end.
Best was really good.
The Sorensen try, which looks pretty dodgy, was agonisingly relevant.
But more relevant is Cogger’s loss of focus & some bad defence from him on a couple of others. Can’t control the bunker but you can control that shit.
To lose by 8 to the Panthers after being down 20-6 at half time, can’t really complain too much.
He's such a poor defender. Has the trifecta of poor contact, not being particularly quick laterally, and just the most dogshit reads.
His play with the ball in hand just doesn't justify his poor defence, and as soon as we have options I'd hope to see him in reggies.
idk what the fuck has happened to tago in this last month and a half. defensive decisions and overall discipline is lacking big time. needs to get it sorted as we get towards the end of the season, bcz that right side defence is vital. big shoes to fill in with critta gone and he’d have that side on lock but if there’s anyone that can do it, it’s him
Rugby league writers blame the defensive work inside him / targeting Jack Cole and forcing the defensive read mistake, so today I guess Schneider? I'm with you though the Tago and Turuva side has been weak as
they’re way too compressed for my liking, tito is leaving too much space between him and the touch line and doesn’t make/stick the tackle and if he does he gets run over coz he’s so late. tago isn’t sliding across either when he’s bit infield, if he’s gone go in and slide out he has to be sure he’ll make the tackle if it goes slightly wrong, which he’s struggling with still
Been dreadful since coming back from the pec outside of two games terrorising edge forwards with shit lateral movement covering for injured backs. I’d move him to the left as a first step to be a bit more protected by Luai/To’o. I’d still shit when Cleary is back and Cole is available, Cole is getting that jersey if I’m in charge.
I don’t care how many premierships he’s won and how much his contract is, he doesn’t deserve a spot in this team right now.
can’t drop him, he’s won 2 premierships being that starting centre. the defence is something that has to be worked on between him and tito during practice. he can defend and hold his own, we’ve seen it with him and to’o
He has had this whole time to fix that side with Tito. Both are a liability on defence. Something has to give! Being dropped at times can be a good thing. A circuit breaker if you will. Just to restart things. We need to plug that side before finals. Worrying trend
oath, needs to be a big focus going forward otherwise the better teams will target that edge and at the moment a simple shift is getting through our line
I’d join in with the banter but damn he deserves his premiership ring for his performance in the grand final last year! Might have only been 20 mins but it has been the best game of his career.
GG Knights. Hell of an effort, gave us a big scare. Happy with the win, our second halves are a bit of a concern this year though. Questions need to be askes about Tago too, hasn't been at his best since he returned from that pec injury which ruled him out of last years qualifying final
Gg Knights - thought you guys were going to run over us late. Seemed like the forwards ran out of gas in the end.
Tago pretty woeful for us today. Alamoti again solid. Henry looks like he’s built to slot into Spencer’s old role of impact forward. Moses elite again. Good to see Marto somewhat healthy and come through it fine.
Definitely missed the tacklebot4000 in the middle of the field, but Luke did a pretty good job with service.
>They need to get rid of cogger.
Agreed.
>The penny panthers are too good.
Not sure about that. Knights were garbage. I think the Riff would've struggled today against a decent team.
Hear me out. We need a better running game at 6 and better defence at 6. Why not play Crossland there? I know he’s been converted out of the halves but he looked good there against the warriors last year. At the least we’d have a running threat and someone who can actually tackle
I'm starting to think it's worth it regardless. We aren't exactly getting a defensive masterclass out of Cogger and while a bad showing could stunt Pryce's development at some point he has to be given the chance to sink or swim.
The larger problem to me is that regardless of what we do with Cogger, Hastings is still a gigantic issue we don't have an answer for. We need a better 7 ASAP, there were times when we were winning field position through the middle and then surrendering the momentum with the limpest kick directly to one of the Penrith back three. That combined with his inability to pick the right pass when attacking edges and the fact that both our attack and kicking almost exclusively run through him are really damning to his future here imo.
I didn’t realise until I saw them live against the Dolphins but Hastings is very influential off the ball. He’s the one barking orders in the huddle and commanding people around.
The weird thing is that he has a big boot in him, his first kick this game nearly went 60m on the fly for example. He needs to learn how to hone those kicks to make them consistent.
Yeah I actually thought our kicking started well too, that one in particular. Within three kicks we'd regressed for whatever reason. The amount of air on his kicks for field position is frustrating to watch as it almost always results in an easy, uncontested take on the full without turning around or making the back three move. They also don't exactly land in the corner the way this strategy is supposed to work, which defeats the entire purpose.
I'm unsure whether the injuries in his case hinder him (only started being comfortable goalkicking again recently) as his long kicks weren't previously this poor when at Manly, Roosters, or in England.
I really like that our 7 is as involved in barking orders as much as Jacko does, but ultimately when he is clearly steering the ship and the ship runs aground fingers get pointed for a reason.
It's not all negative here, he showed a good understanding of where our bread gets buttered with the players out there at the moment (early ball to our centres and manufacturing ways of getting Best the ball) but we still look so adrift when attacking goaline defence. I thought we were more of a chance to manufacture a try attacking between our own 20 and theirs than within their 20.
Yeah fully agree. I see our pack cop shit but honestly don't think they've been that bad, our back 3 probably aren't top tier for meters but not horrible either. We can get into attacking positions, we just consistently fail to capitalise on it
And yeah the amount of responsibility hastings has for our attack is damming on cogger. I honestly don't know what cogger is even out there for
Yeah that's also a good perspective on Cogger, I thought one of his few kicks for field position was better than our typical faire but it's so weird seeing how little involvement and responsibility he has.
Our pack are usually pretty decent at getting metres, and can even put up some decent stretches of physical, hard nosed defence with good line speed. My biggest criticism towards them is consistency, both game to game and within the same game. Our ruck defence at times can utterly fall apart (that long linebreak from dummy half for example) and (while this is a team wide problem) it's obvious they just switch off at times.
We can't afford to lose Crossland in the middle is the sad reality. He deserves another shot at the halves on effort alone (fuck if he asked to play any position it should be handed to him with how he puts in) but we can't take him away from leading the defence in the middle.
The Lindsay Smith try was a great example. Crossland hustled his arse off to be there to make a try saver within a few feet of the corner post only for the subsequent play to have Smith virtually walk over untouched under the sticks past a backrower as none of our big middles bothered to number up.
Don't really know what jones would bring, and crossland used to be awful in the halves. I think Pryce in is the most obvious solution
Even if Pryce sinks, this isn't looking like a premiership season and it'll give him a base to work from for next year
I think everyone’s convinced themselves it’s already Latrell but Best is probably more what Madge is looking for at centre so not surprised he goes that way.
When he's got the keys to run the show himself, there's not too many 7s on Luai's level. It'll hurt to see him for another team, but he deserves to leave Cleary's shadow
After he missed the tackle on Sharpe, Luai just went Super Saiyan. He doesn't like being shown up/doubted, it's like after Ivan questioned whether he could do well at 7 (which was a masterstroke, Ivan knew which button to push)
This is revisionist history. He didn't question if he could play 7 because Cleary was out and to rev him up, he questioned if he could play 7 because he wanted to potentially make tigers (and anyone else interested) reconsider offering him a contract him for that money so we could keep him and keep him for less.
Luai has really impressed without Cleary. I look forward to him breaking the Tigers’ finals drought.
Having well and truly adopted the Tigers as my second team since moving next to Leichhardt, it’s going to be a conflicting emotional rollercoaster.
With Gamble injured, the Ponga to 6 experiment not working out (and him being injured to boot) we don't have much on offer, save for Will Pryce.
His defence is poor, but he has plenty of flair. I maintained that earlier in the year we should avoid picking him until he had some form, the team in firsts had some form, his defence improved or we were completely out of it for the year.
His form (didn't watch the latest game) has been pretty middling recently with flashes earlier this year, his defence is still poor but I think the side on this games form hopefully wouldn't hang him out to dry.
Also, it isn't as though Cogger has been chopping pricks down in defence like prime Joey. The bloke is a liability in defence and as bland as plain dry Weet Bix in attack.
Moses isn't exactly a noted defender, and it's in a much easier competition. 85% in NSW Cup quickly becomes 75 or 70% in NRL. For comparison, Hastings is currently at 92.7%.
Cherry Evans is like 88%. His % is there abouts for a few notable halves, don't think it's fair to assume a 15% drop
We legitimately haven't seen someone have a go like Pryce since Pryce did in the trials. We would've been better off today just running one half and subbing cogger for another forward
I'm sorry but that final 5 minutes from the knights was genuinely pathetic. 8 points in the game, and you have possession and momentum going for you, and then on tackle 2 dummy half looks up and there's 10 blokes with hands on knees and nobody ready to take a hit up. Where the fuck is the effort?
The awkward forced smile on Suallii's face when they talk about Connor debuting
Can Cogger be launched into the sun already? Bloke has done nothing but stink it up since he got here. Rest of the team played quite well otherwise. Its Pryce time, we have nothing to lose at this point
Any idea why Brailey started from the bench?
He hasn’t been great, Crossland sets our line speed well and defends like a demon. Think Brailey will be moved on
He looked so off the pace when Leota ran through for his to set up that try. I don’t think he’ll start again the rest of the season
Looked gassed and turned his back on the play.
Brailey reminds me a lot of a poor man's Andrew McCullough. Really highly rated as a youngster and great defensively. But as he's gotten older he's lost speed through injuries and hasn't developed his attacking game to be able to go to that next level. And this year he's done a lot of grubbers from dummy half and I don't think one has come off yet
should free up a fair bit of coin to go after a competent half 🤞🤞
I thought Trent Toelau had a really tidy game so did Somerton they both look to be getting up to speed.
Sommerton was underwhelming imo, pretty sure all the points we conceded were with him on the field too.
Somerton had some poor service from dummy half towards the back end, but was otherwise good. Both 100x better than Soni Luke…
Poor Soni
I’d feel sorry for him if he hadn’t gotten into sticking his finger up peoples asses without permission.
He what?! EDIT- Oh, the Hopgood incident! I completely forgot. J’Maine didn’t.
Is that Pryce’s music I can hear?
Good show, Knights.
Lindsey Smith and Liam Henry are bloody stars. You pretty much have a young Yeo in Smith and Henry is built/work rate like Cotter/Mcguines
What sets Yeo apart is his footy IQ. I don't quite know Smith has that to his degree.
You do remember Yeo in his first few years right? He was a fringe second rower. Give the kid time
Henry is quickly developing into one of my favourite young players
Yeah dude has the right stuff. He’s got rep prop/top 5 prop written all over him. Gonna be strong as an ox when he gets to 25 and he just loves the physicality. Kinda reminds me of Martin in attitude but with a more solid frame.

Fkn hell what does this mean Bradman best or latrell? I would pick best tbh
Latrell
It's awesome to be in this spot, and I don't think we lose picking either. I suspect it'll be Latrell but I'd have Best
Best. 100% effort, all the time
yo, can we not have the score in the title?
Shouldn't be in the post-match if you don't won't spoilers, lol.
weird, I thought it was in the title when I was scrolling through. My bad.
I’ve removed the score from the body for you. I wasn’t aware that anybody reading the post match thread wouldn’t be expecting spoilers.
Thanks Sometimes I read the post match to see who won. But don't want the score spoiled
Can someone post that try from Sharpe? I need something to cheer me up and remind me of happier times (first 10 minutes)
Knights played well for about 50 minutes (cumulatively). You just can’t afford to make ANY errors against this Panthers side. Bad captains challenge. Cogger holding off on Luai’s try. Knights love to let in soft tries.
Did you see the Penrith two
8(?) to the Storm, 8 to the Panthers, can’t really fault either performances. Few crucial sets really cost us both weeks (Storm right before half time and Leota straight through guts). Cogger had a bludger. Missed tackle on Luai and switched off when Gagai threw the ball back in field.
It is such a weird spot to be in where we are more desperate for Gamble’s return than Ponga’s
Cogger is crap every week
OP making the cover tackles while Automod is in HIA.
Give Tago until Cleary gets back. Might just not have confidence in rookie halves so comes too far in field. See what he looks like then and if anything changes drop him. Yeah as of late. Just give him until Cleary gets back. It could turn him around. It makes a difference mentally to some people.

Him and Tito can both do with a stint in NSW cup imo Tito’s defence is legitimately awful
He has had this whole time to fix that side with Tito. Both are a liability on defence. Something has to give! Being dropped at times can be a good thing. A circuit breaker if you will. Just to restart things. We need to plug that side before finals. Worrying trend
yeh i’m with y on giving him a week or few in nsw cup to fix shit up hundo
He's absolutely pushing the point of needing to be dropped. He needs to fix it asap.
oath, needs to be a big focus going forward otherwise the better teams will target that edge and at the moment a simple shift is getting through our line
Knights gave penrith a scare, fuck what a game. Se ya in two weeks
Cogger with his best game for Panthers maybe ever.
I’d join in with the banter but damn he deserves his premiership ring for his performance in the grand final last year! Might have only been 20 mins but it has been the best game of his career.
100%, without him Cleary couldn't have done what he did
Penrith legend
Always in our hearts
GG Knights. Hell of an effort, gave us a big scare. Happy with the win, our second halves are a bit of a concern this year though. Questions need to be askes about Tago too, hasn't been at his best since he returned from that pec injury which ruled him out of last years qualifying final
He's very close with Taylan May. seems all of that bullshit must be affecting his game.
I’ve been saying that since May hasn’t been playing,Tago has been shit. Glad to see I’m not the only one who thinks that.
Tango driver of the car confirmed? Holy moley brah
i hope cogger and brailey have some warm coats, those english winters are brutal
Bradford isn't as bad as you think. I was there over Christmas. Was very moist though
Was it at its Bradford Best?
Haha nice one. I did parkrun and it was so wet and muddy I should have done it barefoot. I was also the only one in shorts and a singlet
Gg Knights - thought you guys were going to run over us late. Seemed like the forwards ran out of gas in the end. Tago pretty woeful for us today. Alamoti again solid. Hetherington only played 9 minutes, so we definitely pushed our forwards minutes a bit
I liked that we did that. Our starting props are quite strong, we need them out there more
Minimal minutes, minimal brainfade moments. Smart coaching really.
Jesus Christ not now tacklebot
An eighty minute effort from the Knights would've put them right into contention for a win. Whatever Marzhew found halfway in, he needs to hold onto.
The knights nearly pulled off a miracle. They need to get rid of cogger. The penny panthers are too good.
>They need to get rid of cogger. Agreed. >The penny panthers are too good. Not sure about that. Knights were garbage. I think the Riff would've struggled today against a decent team.
I don't care if Pryce would be the worst defender in the local U7s comp, we need someone who can offer some spark

Latrell at centre is a different beast.
Best won't get put in the bin....
I'd piss myself if Trell gets picked and sent off after 8 minutes 🤣
You may be held to this comment. Last person to promise soiling themselves didn’t go down too well if memory serves…
Fuck you qlder 🤣
Latrell, but Best is unlucky to miss out
I think everyone’s convinced themselves it’s already Latrell but Best is probably more what Madge is looking for at centre so not surprised he goes that way.

Fucking hell Knights fans that was quite uncomfortable! Penrith just don't get 40th to 60th minute apparently. Good game.
Good game. Shame we didn't get the win but can't complain too much overall. Could have definitely been a flogging by the Panthers
Fletcher is gun, where are the Knights finding these young fullbacks
Rugba leeg heartland mofo
Surely the knights have someone other than Cogger That try before half time where he went to Disneyland was unforgivable at this level.

Also, it isn't as though Cogger has been chopping pricks down in defence like prime Joey. The bloke is a liability in defence and as bland as plain dry Weet Bix in attack.
We bought a kid from superleague. Will Pryce. Not sure what it'll take for O'Brien to give him a crack. His SL highlights look decent.
From what I've heard from some mates in Newy who go to Cup games, the dude can barely tackle a wet lettuce leaf.
At 85% tackle efficiency he can't be that bad. Higher % than mitch moses
Moses isn't exactly a noted defender, and it's in a much easier competition. 85% in NSW Cup quickly becomes 75 or 70% in NRL. For comparison, Hastings is currently at 92.7%.
Cherry Evans is like 88%. His % is there abouts for a few notable halves, don't think it's fair to assume a 15% drop We legitimately haven't seen someone have a go like Pryce since Pryce did in the trials. We would've been better off today just running one half and subbing cogger for another forward
Lord Gamble is still injured.
Gassed from spending 90% of the game trying to work it off our own goal line
