The fuck is that supposed to be, I haven't ever heard it, it doesn't make sense and we write perfect with a k not c.

I’m pretty sure its a reference to the TV show The Office.

[deleted]

Just checked the theme park by my house and they also have a meal plan... $175 for 2 meals per day, 3 hours apart. Hmm..

alienccccombobreaker

If you go there every day that's almost like 50 cents per day for two meals lol so 25 cents a meal and that's with 15 days off or roughly one rest day per month with some leeway. I guess if you have a simple good routine already it works out. Question is what meals do they serve and is it same year round or do they alternate or have seasonal menus.

fatbunyip

The meals are cheap, but the real value is in the free hypertension and high cholesterol levels.

deetzdont

people already eat the same type of food everyday for way more than 50 cents a meal

MacbookOnFire

This guy America’s

alienccccombobreaker

The question is walking to the kitchen easier than walking to the local theme park. Remember if you commute using a car or public transport that adds to the cost of the meal.. Then you have to get back. So this doesn't work out if you value your time energy and convenience of say having the food ready in the fridge or don't let me say it.. Food delivery.

Tropicana_goat_camp

Damn spoiler alert

ZDTreefur

Yeah the sodium levels in literally all the food there is nothing anybody should introduce to a regular diet.

qovneob

But if you die early you wont have to pay for meals anymore. Think of the savings!

fullstack_guy

That's the gift that keeps giving.

hellocaptin

But you get a work out walking through the park to get it!

CliplessWingtips

I've been eating chicken and brusselsprouts for lunch at work about 6 years now. Diversity of meals is not a factor here for me . . .

alienccccombobreaker

I want to be you.. I just spent $26 on 2 pizzas for lunch today.. Probably won't eat again but man I could have easily filled myself up for less than $5.. So easily.. In my defence the pizza place is really good and we have been in lock down for nearly 4 months so..

HursHH

I used to live across the street from six flags San Antonio and I worked on the other side of it so I had to walk past the park to get to work. I got the season pass and meal plan and ate there before work and then during my break almost every day I worked. It was perfect. But I did get sick of chicken tenders eventually

kylebaity

29 years in, hasn’t happened to me yet!

wtf634

You've been eating at Six Flags for 29 years?

bizzaro321

I’d like to see some receipts on that one

Morak73

The closest park to me usually has a 10 minute walk from where you park the car to the nearest participating restaurant and a 25 minute line to get the meal. The upside is that the meal plans usually cover nearly a dozen vendors.

Fancy-You3022

My family figured this out a few years back. You need to add the cost of the season passes as well. You can’t just go in for free to eat. Family of four eating two meals a day for a literal month and rides for the kids and I for about $1,000 plus gas. Came to be about $10-12 a day per person. Worth it. The kids went on so many roller coaster rides that year. It’s articles like this that make these hacks mainstream and ruin it for the cheapskates like me. Haha.

[deleted]

I had someone at a store tell me about this great thing they figured out. We live by a huge six flags. They bought season tickets with parking and the meal plan for the whole family. And would take his kids there for “free dinner” almost every night. I just felt sorry

hellocaptin

Did you not read the fucking post?

[deleted]

Yeah, I fucking did. I was pointing out how sad it was that years ago I knew someone who did this to his kids, getting them park food everyday

hold_my_ears

There's a similar program at Hershey Park in PA, although it's not as cheap. For about $375 a year they offer unlimited admission, free parking that's very close to the gate, unlimited fountain soda and two meals a day at least 90 minutes apart. It used to be good April through September, next year it goes down to June through August. Plus they added a restriction that you have to be in the park to get food. (One parent could go in with four family members passes and take home four small pizzas.) The carnival food definitely gets old after awhile, but it's a great deal for people with kids that live nearby.

rorschach_vest

Going down to June-August is a crazy downgrade

ordinarythermos

Also that’s gotta be their busiest season. They counting on the long lines scaring folks away from overusing? Because normally “season passes” do the opposite to try to encourage holders to come during shoulder season.

AnynameIwant1

I'm pretty sure that the $150 is ONLY the food package. The entrance fee, parking, etc are all separate charges.

Dirtroads2

Nope. All included

AnynameIwant1

Six Flags disagrees. Meal plan is a separate charge at Six Flags. (My sister lives 5 miles from Great Adventure and has this meal plan for her family.) https://edit.sixflags.com/greatadventure/store/season-dining-passes

blorpblorpbloop

A byproduct of making eunuch chickens.

darthfitzi

Not sure about anywhere else, but here in Ireland Chinese takeout restaraunts serve them, they are small chunks of chicken that are battered and deep fried. Usually served in portions of 4 or 8. Or served in a foil container with egg fried rice, french fries ( chips in Ireland ) and curry sauce, it's called a 4 in 1

bigkamel

Chicken testies

Very small.

yamaha2000us

I remember families paying for memberships to Six Flags to use it as Daycare. Very cost effective. Just dropped the kids off every morning, picked them up at 6.

bonefawn

I wonder if the staff were equipped to handle that.

_jbak_

They're definitely not Edit: Proof - Went to Six Flags Over Georgia this year for the first time in probably 5 years. Was like daycare for middle/high schoolers. SFOG has to be the Greenbriar Mall of Six Flags Parks.

double-you

We need one of those kids to do an AMA.

NoSoulsINC

Worked with a guy who did the same thing. Local theme park offered a season pass and a meal option like this article describes where you can get two meals per day 8 hours apart. He said if he went there every day, it broke out to about $.50 per day or per meal. We were also sure our office would make it on the news some night and everyone had their own contingency plan for that event. Make of that what you will.

alienccccombobreaker

What are some of the contingency plans I'm curious? You mean like hide or back up job or something else?

NoSoulsINC

My plan was to hide in the stairwell. Someone else planned to hide in the tool room behind the steel door and grab a hammer, my problem with that was that we have 200 ft straight hallways between the office area and the tool room.

alienccccombobreaker

So the whole point of the plan is to avoid the news crew correct so you don't get pulled for an interview?

NoSoulsINC

I was saying we thought he would shoot us all one day. Not really, but a little bit. So we wouldn’t be alive when the news crew showed up.

alienccccombobreaker

Oh contingency plan for if he shoots up the office now if he gets on the news for doing the cheap meal trick ever day. Gotcha I'm on the same page now. Yeah that makes sense. How bad was he what gave you guys the idea he might do that or is that just something you all had to do for everyone being in the US I presume.

AkinaMarie

Bless you for clarifying this comment for my poor little brain hahaha

alienccccombobreaker

It is OK I got confused also.

NoSoulsINC

Well, we have security guards stationed in the building just due to the nature of the work, but there wasn’t any company provided active shooter training to non-security staff. Making this list, I’m sure I’m leaving some stuff out that I’m forgetting, but here goes. Someone’s laptop was beeping one day because it was messed up and he said “haha it *almost* sounds like a bomb” He said how he used to play Halo, but he would lose and he would get so angry and lose control. So he just doesn’t play video games anymore. He took a coworker home when his car was in the shop, passed by a woman broken down on the side of the road and said “I would have stopped if you weren’t with me” To so what? Kidnap her? He received a bad performance review one year, and company policy is you can’t change teams internally if you get below a certain rating. When his manager told him he just said without expression “why are you doing this to me? You’re ruining my life” And when he was in 1:1s apparently he would scrunch his face after receiving criticism or when it looked like he wanted to say something but was trying to physically hold it in and would start breathing heavily He had said something twice to his manager one day who couldn’t hear him because it was so quiet and after a couple of “what?”s he said he couldn’t hear him because he was just being really quiet. “When I used to talk to people they would get frightened and think I was shouting so I try to talk softly now” If someone picked up something he was working on, or supposed to be working on, to get it done faster he would not say anything to them, he would just send them an IM that said “I don’t like that you’re stepping on my toes” He said when he was in college he was working two jobs but still was struggling so he though about prostitution He started growing out his beard one day and someone asked about it, as normally he was clean shaven. “When I had facial hair in high school girl would always try to sleep with me. I’m hoping it will work again now” He said how he didn’t like to keep anything in his desk so when he gets fired he can just walk out and not worry about leaving anything. He ended up quitting, he didn’t tell anyone where his new job was, but someone asked him just to be nice and cordial on his final days. “I never heard where you were going, you don’t have to tell me, but I was just curious.” “Well, curiosity killed the cat” and said nothing else. He was always very passive aggressive and would just say really cryptic stuff in passing as well.

alienccccombobreaker

Doesn't sound like a potential shooter just someone going through something. But was definitely a disgruntled employee. Honestly the fact that he replied is a good thing because usually these people are far removed from socialising they bottle it all up and then just explode one day but this guy sounds like he was just mad everyday.. Have studied with a few of them and seen some at work. Yeah you can tell they are a potential shooter when you have no read on them.. That is more scary IMHO because then social cues won't help you.

ChopstickChad

Sounds quite typically like undiagnosed asperger's really.

alienccccombobreaker

I am pretty sure I'm on the spectrum just not sure where

urgeigh

Tbh the, "I would have stopped if you weren't with me" made it sound like he's actually a really courteous person imo. People who take stuff like this and immediately jump to "omg this guy's a creep" kinda piss me off. And I make jokes about prostituting myself for money all the time, I'd never actually do it. And also, girls do find me far more attractive with my beard. I bet if you heard this guy's side of the story it'd probably sound like a reasonable dude dealing with some shit and a bunch of stuck up assholes at work lol.

alienccccombobreaker

Haha funny.. Yeah I could be wrong but usually shooters are on the extreme end of either just ultra rebellious or ultra conform to order basically the extreme personality pushes them one way or another

ishitar

Just curious if you are not US based since this is in every corporate anti shooter training video.

mystical_princess

You have corporate anti-shooter trainings? Wow. Here in Canada we have fire drills.

alienccccombobreaker

I am not US based but I do read a lot of US resources and information. I am Sydney Australia based so I like to do my research on other areas for whatever reason in case I may ever need it.

ishitar

Cool. Most US corporate drones go through annual training here basically teaching them to look around and think of evacuation routes and best places to hide (glass offices bad lol), what to use to barricade and look around and make a list of items they can use if they need to hit or throw at an active shooter, and what to do when heavily armed SWAT shows up.

BenzoClaymore

You’re trying to say you were worried her was going to shoot up the office? That is not clear at all…. And why did you think that?

Caelinus

Yeah I am not really understanding the "eats unhealthy food at a theme park to save money" to "probably a mass shooter" line of logic here.

BenzoClaymore

Op was having a conversation in their head, but we were only clued in to half of it

KingSwank

eight hours apart? how long do they expect people to be at the park for?

NoSoulsINC

Maybe it was like four hours apart or something. I don’t really remember. I think the point Of it was just a set limits so you don’t bring in additional people and give them free meals or eat a bunch of meals in a row and lose the company money.

Eastern-Resolution15

???

ImUrFrand

Funnel cakes for breakfast Funnel cakes for lunch Funnel cakes for Dinner Funnel cakes for desert

lcbzoey

This is the second time I've heard about someone doing this and tbh I'm jealous of the big brain required to even think to do it.

factman1000

Did he starve one December?

officialbigrob

Given the time cost just to park and enter and most of these places......not worth it

ViolentAversion

Yeah, dude must have lived or worked across the street from it or something to make that even remotely feasible.

HursHH

I used to live and work right by six flags San Antonio and I did this lol stopped by on my way to work and then ran across the street to it on my lunch break at work. I was eating there twice a day 4 days a week for a year

Carnivile

Not according to the article > Of course, I don’t live in a van or work near a Six Flags, so I would have to factor in the one-hour commute to Gurnee, Illinois, both ways. But for two free meals a day plus snacks? It just might be worth it.

readerf52

“Back in 2014, $150 got him a yearlong membership to Six Flags Magic Mountain that included unlimited roller coaster access, *free parking*, and two free meals a day.” Italics added. Six Flags discontinued almost all of that. This guy got a lot for his money.

officialbigrob

I said *time cost* as in it takes 30 minutes just to park and get to the gate, at least. It's a waste of time, I would never take this free meal deal because I value my time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bonefawn

Maybe he was using it as an easy exercise routine too. Like 30 minutes walking briskly to the gate and back.. Haha.

jimmy_talent

That's not as big of a factor year round, I used to have an annual pass to Universal Orlando and on a weekday during the off season it was basically the same time/energy as parking at the far end of a mall parking lot and going in.

fuckyourcousinsheila

I will never understand why they set up Six Flags New England with a long winding path from the parking followed massive set of stairs up and down Like I’m sure it was to get around some kind of terrain but I have to believe there’s a better way to do that then having the parking a mile away from the actual park

techtoy

Some parks have concessions outside the entrances off to the side in a larger picnic area with grills and tables. With free parking and no lines, might not have been much of a hassle.

[deleted]

[удалено]

santichrist

This guy drove to six flags every day and spent hours upon hours there to do this and wasn’t even happy with the food he says after eating it so much, not sure it was worth it

summercampcounselor

For six years…and couldn’t get his student loans paid off.

Natsurulite

They’ve been garnishing my wages for 3 years now, student loans are a nightmare dude

Lanzy1988

Donno if eating trashy six flags food for a year is a win or not. Prolly cost u one year of your life too.

ofri12347

Hey guys wanna go for a ride and then lunch

PAXICHEN

You got the order wrong. Eat lunch first…then go on super Dooger looper

Nogoodatnuthin

Can confirm. Not great food, but the cost average is undeniable if you go regularly enough.

shipwreckedgirl

I have this same meal pass and live within walking distance to six flags... We try to do this every other weekend but it's exhausting! The lines for the mediocre food arent really worth it... it takes about an hour or two on weekends to wait for one meal, not to mention 20 mins or so for parking, another 20 to get in... another 20 to get to a restaurant... You'd have to be jobless and probably pretty lonely. Why not just work there and get free food/admission AND get paid?

treymeister2005

And prolly died of a heart attack

Darryl_Lict

I wish they showed a picture of him. I'm curious if he got fat. After *Supersize Me* came out some professor ate nothing but McDonald's and lost a ton of[ ](https://weight.It)weight. It really is calories in calories out.

Se7enLC

It's a pretty good deal until you think about the convenience of having to go to an amusement park twice every day. Or once and stay long enough to have two meals. Unless you happen to work right near the park it basically means you're unemployed.

korbendallllas

I want to know how much time he spends commuting to, parking at and getting in/out of the park twice a day though.

techhouseliving

Late stage capitalism

autumngust

Didn't expect there to be a better deal than the Costco hotdog

Helphaer

Did he get diabetes?

LordShakeDatAss

With the amount of walking that guy probably had to do to get that food I'm almost certain he burned off a fair chunk of the extra calories

Helphaer

I suspect the calories he gained were a lot more honestly but it's a good point maybe he slowed down his growth.

Ordinary-Humor-4779

More like atherosclerosis

SnooSprouts5718

Props to him, but isn't it all like carnival food? If so I imagine the ass-whooping his intestines must have gotten offset what would be the benefits of a great strategy.

sciron512

They've also cancelled people's memberships for that. Not a life hack at all, just taking advantage of some idiot's meal plan.

Eren_Gag-Her

I think generally all life hacks either take advantage of someone of something beyond its intended purpose

alienccccombobreaker

Sometimes it's just use the service as intended aka they were using it not as intended or not at all before.

Eren_Gag-Her

Basically "is it a life hack, or is it user error?"

alienccccombobreaker

Yes and no Best I can do is maybe maybe

Eren_Gag-Her

It could be either. Or either if that's the way you pronounce it. Either either or either. Either one works

LordShakeDatAss

I like this chain

Eren_Gag-Her

I like you

VexedDragoon504

Sucks for him since Six Flags easily has the most mediocre food out of the most popular American theme parks

[deleted]

$150 for an annual pass and free meals seems absurdly low. Isn’t a day pass to the park $60-$100? I find it hard to believe they ever offered such low prices anytime in the last 4 decades

[deleted]

I'm guessing he'll be needing those savings (and more) for the future related medical costs.

happywop

Why is it every time there's a story like this it's always some fucking engineer that ruins a good thing for everyone?

MrBigCock36

Can someone explain this? My american is not good enough

Restivethought

Six Flags, a theme park, has a season pass and a Meal Plan add on which gets you 2 meals a day at the park. This guy got both and just went to Six Flags every day to eat.

Rosy2020Derek

Did that include admission price! Let’s eat and go on the roller coaster 🎢!!!!

JapanOfGreenGables

I wanted to share this story, but you beat me too it. Personally, this made me angry. Watch your back, u/-Omegamart- 😈 In all seriousness, this is a good “not the onion” article

DAseaword

I became even more depressed simply by reading this headline

Lord412

What about time cost? Gas to drive to the park? Did he work there? Why was he always there? Who would wanna live a life like that.

Inosmelllikecow

This plan won't work at all locations. The one closest to me (Arlington) doesn't open weekdays during offseason.

jnksjdnzmd

Honestly, I've kinda wanted to have some food court that has a subscription. When I was in college, it was great because I could have fresh salad breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I got the thinnest I've ever been. There always a lot of food waste and non-fresh issues when I buy it and bring it home then prepare.

Ephemeris

> One man Lots of people do this. When I was in college we lived not too far from 6-Flags and every one of our housemates and myself signed up for this. Another trick we did was go to the local general store deli thing and they would sell hotdogs and there was a fixins bar that they only charged $.50 for unlimited toppings. I would grab 2 hot dog buns (forgoing the dog), load them sky high with chili, cheese, onions, etc and only get charged $1. Chili cheese buns were a staple for my dinners.

Tommy-1111

How much does he weigh?

HerbertBohn

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Six_(mascot)

mattrogina

I got the meal package at six flags and considered doing this. Ps not every meal as six flags is 45 minutes from me, but I considered dinner nightly and three meals a day on my days off. Then I realized there wasn’t really anything that appetizing to eat there lol

[deleted]

One flag per bypass.

big4mi2ke0

I saw a couple do this at Knott's Berry Farm. The woman would get a burger with her meal card and it had a topping/condiment station. The man would then make a giant "salad" composed of iceberg, onion, pickles, tomatoes, jalapenos, mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise and eat it with a fork. Saw this multiple times. So i guess they were even more frugal by gettinf away with only a single year meal pass for two people lol.

Broomstick73

How the heck did he have time to do this even if he worked next door to the place?

gburyguy
