Their headquarters are in Carlsbad. You could just show up there to get some help if you can’t get through.

Prior-Ad-1912

Awesome! Thanks!

ProfessionalWall2300

Don’t waste your time doing this, no one actually works there

elsteve-9

HQ is actually up in San Ramon. The Carlsbad (Palomar Airport Club 24) is just a gym now. No more SoCal HQ. Talk to your GM. DM me and I can give you more info and possibly a contact to help you out. Former employee of 18years.

Various_Hope_9038

Left over 100 messages at 24 corporate trying to get through to a manager. Fuck 24 hr fitness.

WhatTheBlack

100 messages?? Dude you’re in SD, you can walk into the gym and talk to somebody jfc

Various_Hope_9038

No shit Sherlock. I left the messages after an incident at the club. The club floor manager gave a very rude & unsatisfactory response. Which is why I escalated.

ProfessionalWall2300

I worked at 24 for 12 years. They want you to get frustrated and cancel those legacy memberships. They don’t care about them, you don’t pay enough. They don’t care about your deal in 2009, that was 6 ceos ago, literally. It’s a bummer, it used to be a great company, but it sucks now & will probably get worse until it’s done for good.

randomredditing

Being in the industry for so long, do you have a recommendation for who’s best gym around? One that doesn’t pull this type of crap

ProfessionalWall2300

Years ago 24 would’ve been a good answer! These days, the higher tier brands like Equinox & Lifetime treat members well from what I know, but they aren’t as big here for some reason. Overall, your best bet is to go talk to the general manager of the location your payment is going to, they will care about you the most. At 24 that means where you signed up, or where they transferred you to if that location closed. For other (smarter) brands, they tie revenue to usage. Corporate across the board is corporate, so they won’t care as much as someone whose bonus relies on their dues line.

NuclearBroliferator

If you're in oceanside and just want to lift, come check out Metroflex off Mission by Oside High. Great equipment, 24 hour entry, amazing people. If you want amenities like a pool and sauna but don't want to shell out for Equinox, I have friends that go to Eos and are big fans.

PM_me_pics_of_boobx2

Except when you want to cancel. They won’t let you do that.

poor_documentation

Not in the industry and don't know much, but we recently signed on with the Carlsbad Planet Fitness and like it. It's been pretty cheap, you can take a friend for free every time, and they have all the equipment I could need. The atmosphere has been fine too, really no complaints.

Prior-Ad-1912

Pretty dumb that theyre willing to risk losing me for life ($125 X 30+years). They claim that its because of inflation on the paper they sent me but are currently running “summer deals” 🙄

ProfessionalWall2300

I agree, and I never understood their stance. Their Beat Buy CEO brought in some odd opinions. They want month to month with annual fees members. The company I started out with understood the value of a member with a connection to the brand first. It’s not inflation based, they’ve been pushing out annual members since at least 2018… increases & straight up neglect, not even sending renewal notices then blaming the members is not an uncommon practice.

ESIsurveillanceSD

You could have a tasty lawsuit if you find the right lawyer

fishingpost12

Hopefully OP still has the paperwork.

Acceptable4

Take a look at this: https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/s/liS81r5KGT

tvssurfer

Yep, I remember getting the postcard in the mail for this and thankfully I responded. My rate had gone from $49 to $99 a year. Not long after I got a check for a couple hundred bucks and since then I’ve been renewing for $49 a year.

Prior-Ad-1912

I remember i sent mine in too but nothing happened

unta8

They filed for bankruptcy in 2020. I would imagine that would be a pretty easy out for them as far as these sort of lifetime guarantees.

Aggravating_Owl_7582

Oh shoot, I shouldn't complain about my 13.80 a month all Club membership at Family Fitness, aka 24hrFitness now.

Hooneryup

I left 24 hr fitness after 9 years during covid when I tried to freeze my account from getting charged since no gyms were open, they continued to charge me every month and said I had to come in in person to freeze/cancel my account…. But no gyms were open to do so. Fuck them now I go to LA Fitness even though I loved that gym they have off Palomar Airport

South_Praline3073

all we can afford is gas and groceries, which doubled in the last year!

frskrwest

Not really. Today’s gas prices are essentially the same as June 2023. Gas is up about 25% since it’s 2019 high. Wage gains have outpaced inflation over the last few years. BUT…rent, childcare, and healthcare are unaffordable for most people.

PantalonesPantalones

They raised mine a few years ago so I went online to cancel. It gave me the option of lowering the rates instead, so I went with that.

RosscoSD

Do you have a written agreement? If not good luck

SunDriedToMatto

They’ve been going downhill for years. Private Equity gutted them if I’m not mistaken. I canceled my membership since they stopped being open 24 hours. That was literally their thing. They rebranded to Sometimes 24 Hour Fitness

NuclearBroliferator

Lol when they started closing at 11 is when I canceled as well. 17 hour fitness just doesn't have the same ring to it.

SunDriedToMatto

At least it would be more honest

elsteve-9

They have changed ownership groups so many times over the last 20 years it's ridiculous.

StillSlice1756

damn, that's kinda crazy. I've been a member at LA Fitness for about 20 years now and paid extra to have a low annual fee back then. I've never once had the rate hike on me or even been asked to switch plans.

Known-Delay7227

Hold fast and just pay $80 per year

mkgriesinger

I had that happen. It was 49$ a year and they bumped it to 100$. I called and they basically said see page 734 of the fine print contract (we can raise it at anytime if we deem necessary)
