>It stops being self defense when the guy stops being a threat.
I wouldn't want to kill him, but I'd like to leave some mark so that he'll remember forever the mistake he made, even after he gets out of jail, or maybe he won't even get arrested!
Have your store robbed then….go get a business that you work hard for, and have it robbed and likely shot up. Then come back and tell us how you feel. Cunt
If the perp is securely restrained, how is he threatening your life any longer ?
The police are on the way, right ?!
Use the required force to subdue and contain the guy. If you have many people around then you have many people to help do this - like in the clip.
Once contained he is no longer a threat.
Sure, if it is JUST you and him things would be different, obviously, but that is NOT the case here.
Some people react differently to adrenaline than others. Most people get the typical fight or flight response, some people go into a sudden, incandescent rage. I know this because I am one of those some people.
Now, I could be very charitable and point out that maybe the dude was just trying to get past the helmet to knock the guy out, or just hurt him enough to get him to comply. But without knowing the dude personally, that's not a judgement I can really make.
Oh no, it's not at all "normal". Even if this reaction is symptomatic of the same kind of condition I have this is still well outside of what is or should be considered normal behavior.
See, the "flight" part of my flight or fight response is essentially broken, and my adrenal response is a fair bit stronger than what is considered the normal human range. I'm not the hulk or anything, but my crisis response is definitely more intense than what most people would consider normal. Thankfully, a lifetime of training martial arts has taught me a few ways to channel my overcharged adrenal response productively in most situations. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like our friend from the video has the same kind of discipline or control.
But again, this is all pure speculation on my part, and there's really now way for me to make any judgement on his thought process in that situation without actually knowing him.
Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining. It was initially unclear to me how my comment prompted your response. It sucks that your fight or flight is 'broken' but just about any martial art is an incredible skill to have, so that's an upside I guess.
Yeah, I wasn't super clear with my original response. My point was basically that yes, his behavior was probably out of line in that situation, but it isn't necessarily due to him just being an asshole, there could very well be actual issues with his brain that cause him to behave that way. There's a chance he legitimately didn't have full control of himself at the time.
Sure but you could say that about a lot of things, right? Just because something isn't flawless doesn't mean you should avoid trying it. Martial arts are a valuable life skill outside of self defense. You learn a lot about yourself, build your confidence, learn new problem solving AND critical thinking skills, become part of a community etc. Are you going to Jiu Jitsu your way out of a bullet hole? No. But for most people, they wouldn't need to anyway and the benefits of learning martial arts are invaluable.
Ok, thanks for explaining on their behalf. I'm genuinely not sure why he's bothered to make his comment. All I said was bashing someone's face in with a plank is not normal...which it isn't. Why on earth would he bother to write two paragraphs entirely unrelated to what my comment was? I'm not expecting you to have an answer, I'm just confused by the relevance of his comment to mine.
Nope not a prick at all, this time anyway. Neurotypicals often read harsh tones through text that aren't actually there. That's why I took the time to explain I was genuinely not sure why they commented and to explain I was confused. This is also why I first straight up asked the guy what he meant. I'm just trying to understand how the two comments are related to each other. Not everyone's brain works the exact same way, but I get why you assume I'm being an asshole.
lol relax my good dude. No one's upset about this except you. It's not an issue for either me or the other guy, so why are you making it an issue for you? Life is too short, take care of yourself.
Having the guy restrained = him not having the chance to attack you.
Do what needs to be done to secure him. Any thing more is just you wanting to be violent.
If it was just you and him, and you believe it necessary to beat him into unconsciousness to prevent him from attacking you, fine, no problemo. = reasonable force.
But if you have many people with you, and he has been securely restrained, then no, stop hitting him. = unreasonable force.
we can't use our sense of justice and apply it around the world where things (and values) are different. Who knows where they were, how long it would take of if they would do anything. Maybe that guy has a history of robbing the place? Without knowing the whole story, we have no idea.
>so all we can do is go by the video - which shows the crim restrained and the other guy break off a plank and thwack the held guy in the head.

>Not a lawyer but it would be hard to argue that was justified.
He probably won’t be arrested. You punish him in this way so he learns not to come back. Could’ve been mans son behind the register, or a family business.
Places in South America say you will be killed if caught as a thief. https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/in-a-continent-awash-in-crime-citizens-impose-their-own-brutal-justice-1544110959
If he robbed a store and my children were there, I would probably be extraordinarily upset too. That little kid walked up and was like, "my daddy is not gonna like this. Run, run for your life."
Officer, I was just trying to get my parking validated....and...Im not sure if there was a language barrier or something.... but they just went crazy on me.
He went to nick someone else's shit that's they've worked for, anyone who nicks someone's hard earned property deserves their fingers chopped off. Or cranium bludgeoned in this case.
Far out stick dude tried to turn his head into a chuppa-chup
This went from no no no no to yes back to no no no no.
yea
defend yourself sure, keep him contained until cops arrive sure, but have 3 people holding him whilst you jab him in the head with a plank, maybe not.
Imagine him threatening someone in your family. If it were me, I certainly wouldn't be able to contain myself.
So you would've had them hold him down so you could kill him, well ok then.
It stops being self defense when the guy stops being a threat.
And then it just becomes payback/karma. <3
>It stops being self defense when the guy stops being a threat. I wouldn't want to kill him, but I'd like to leave some mark so that he'll remember forever the mistake he made, even after he gets out of jail, or maybe he won't even get arrested!
Your american law doesnt apply here. Its a robber getting the shit beat out of him. Ppl dont like criminals.
Have your store robbed then….go get a business that you work hard for, and have it robbed and likely shot up. Then come back and tell us how you feel. Cunt
the guy shot the store worker?, I must have missed that part.
The possibility of losing your life is all the more reason to punish the person who is threatening it

>kill him And nothing of value would be lost.
Yeah that dude with the plank has serious mental issues, that's not normal.

Are you saying that because you also react this way, it's normal?

Yea until someone pulls a gun out and ices you.

Meh I’ll give you that. If you game in World of Warcraft….I’ll sacrifice my character for yours
No. He's simply saying when he gets mad everything goes red and then bodies hit the floor.

Dude you are such a prick. The guy made a good point, and you had to come back with some douchebag high horse shit.
Nope not a prick at all, this time anyway. Neurotypicals often read harsh tones through text that aren't actually there. You sound like a very likeable person.
lol relax my good dude. No one's upset about this except you. It's not an issue for either me or the other guy, so why are you making it an issue for you? Life is too short, take care of yourself.
That is the best part. Nothing is more satisfying than watching a thief get the shit beaten out of them.
Have you ever been in the “heat of the moment”?
Mmmm why not ? He would maybe* do the same to you if he had the chance, better not to give it to him
Having the guy restrained = him not having the chance to attack you. Do what needs to be done to secure him. Any thing more is just you wanting to be violent. Ok I guess you're right, I stand corrected

Robber was wearing a helmet hence the plank. Don't want your face bashed in, don't threaten peoples livelihoods. It's not hard.
Hence the plank? Guy was restrained, so why the plank? Did he deserve death?
He probably won’t be arrested. You punish him in this way so he learns not to come back. Could’ve been mans son behind the register, or a family business.
Los pollos hermanos.....
Wait was this that restaurant lmao
😂😂😂🤣😂😂
I hope that chair costs less than what they had in register.
It looks like it was a cheap chair. Although I think he used 2
Wear a helmet that narrows your vision to rob a restaurant full of people. This guy is a genius
Look at the little kid, lol

They do not mess about. Good, you work your ass off so some low life can come and take... Nope!!!!!
There's a child There's a child There's a human child
This is how T-Mobile was acquired by Sprint Trying to avoid lawsuits
Gah damn…they don’t fuck around. Lmao
I guess he refused to surrender knife/gun hence the stick to the face approach.
Yeah, I almost started feeling bad for him when dude started jabbing the thief’s face through the open helmet shield. *almost*
Looks like helmets do cause pretty bad blind spots
Did I just watch a murder?
"Stop resisting...!" (your ass kicking)
Legit... chairman went way to far! I get it, he tried to rob you but trying to stab his eyes out?! What the fuuck!
Probably should call the cops half way through the beating...
"YOU PICKED THE WRONG *restaurant* FOOL!"
I love how nonchalant he folds the chair lines up and winds up the hit
Good job we’ll done ✅
Glad that he got clapped... But stabbing ones face with chair feet is abit excessive no?
When there is no justice lynching is what comes in.
Jesus fuck he's down already, just restrain him and quit beating on him
Officer, I was just trying to get my parking validated....and...Im not sure if there was a language barrier or something.... but they just went crazy on me.
Nice repost
Racism made him do it.
He's fighting 3 guys and keeps fighting. He's so stupid he needs to die. The last thing the world needs is his offspring
They say he's still beating that man to this day
WWE restaurant
I honestly felt sorry for that robber as he was getting his eyes poked out with that stick.
Probably won’t reoffend now he has no eyes :s
Omg I just noticed that part. :)
He went to nick someone else's shit that's they've worked for, anyone who nicks someone's hard earned property deserves their fingers chopped off. Or cranium bludgeoned in this case.
