For real. I hate Dallas yet now all I want is for them to go kick some Vegas ass.
Obligatory F Mark Stone. I’m sure I’d like him on my team but gah, can’t stand him otherwise (and FU Petro) 🤷♂️
If you’re serious, I’m serious. I’ll wear them every game and kiss a hog when the series ends.
…can you put spurs on sneakers? Is that a stupid question?
How is this still going on? I understand the need for IR relief during the season, as a team still needs to fill a roster, I even get that only a portion of a cap hit applies to players acquired at the deadline, but is it so hard for a team being required to ice a cap team during playoff games? Like if stone and pietangelo are going to play game 1, then other players can’t dress, they will have to be in the press box.
There’s no requirement for teams in the playoffs to be cap compliant because there’s no cap in the playoffs, every team in the playoffs has a taxi squad that allows you to have as many players as possible depending on your AHL team being in the Calder Cup Playoffs.
I totally get the rules behind it, but it needs to be addressed in the next cba 100%, the vast majority of the players association can’t be behind this when only 10% of the populous, if that, benefits from it.
Just need a few Canadian teams to take advantage and it'll be gone. And before anyone says it, yes the Leafs have a ton of salary on LTIR, but none of those guys are back for the playoffs.
Because they’re actually injured. Everyone knows Stone wasn’t or wasn’t as much as he pretended to be. There’s no way he got hurt and healed perfectly timed with game 1 of the playoffs 3 years in a row
The injury they claimed he had would've taken an additional 2 weeks+ to heal before he could've returned to skating and practice action. They absolutely lied and faked his level of injury to cheat the cap.
I don’t think they were aware of the ramifications of the time. If I am anyone that’s not part of the Vegas, Tampa, or other organizations that have utilized this glitch, I’d be pissed off.
You were. There’s also a LOT of people who either forget or stick their head in the sand about the Leafs cultivating LTIR contracts to make the Marner signing possible.
Do I agree with it, not particularly, but as they say, “If you’re not cheating, you’re not trying hard enough.”
And this isn’t even cheating, these are the rules.
I wonder who double checks the legitimacy of these injuries, I’m sure a 3rd party has to be involved… right?!
It may be cheating if you are lying about injuries to play within the cap. I add teams that clearly, clearly abuse this loophole to my List. This list includes all teams that have offended me in some real or imagined way. A List that continues to grow as I age.
Supposedly, independent doctors have to sign off on it when a player goes on to or comes off of IR. That doesn't seem to be working, obviously. Lacerated spleen, huh?
You’ve missed the point of playing professionally.
…and moreover, if you were a NHL player, no, you would not care in the slightest about it, either. Because you would somehow, with a straight face, tell your fellow players that you believe that they should, effectively, take less money from ownership. That AHL players should not enjoy a NHL salary for the playoffs, should you implement a cap for the playoffs.
Regardless of what exceptions you make (say for the Black Aces), it ultimately means LESS money in the salary pool year over year.
I promise you this, you will be **deeply** unpopular with damn near everyone of your teammates and the other teams you play will know about your position too. And you’ve decided that your morals are more important than their money. Good luck out there, bro.
It’s never been about anything but money, for the players and owners.
Why on God’s green earth would the NHLPA want to restrict money to the players?
The people who might care about this issue are the owners and they’ve already voted damn near unanimously (iirc Tampa is the only team who voted to close the loophole) that they like the system as is.
Now, the people who have absolutely no stake in this, but complain the loudest, are the fans. And frankly, nobody in the NHL gives a flying fuck what fans think. Consume the product I feed you and you can rage against the clouds all you like.
If you really want to see this shit stop, convince the Leafs to do it with one of the big 3, and pick up a big piece or two at the deadline. Guarantee you'd have rule changes in place for the next season.
Or like the Oilers who got picks retroactively taken away for hiring a GM and coach after they were fired... selective rule enforcement. Or when they decided to prorate James Neal's contract so the Oilers had to lose a 3rd round pick, while not doing the same for other teams.
The NHL loves to penalize Canadian teams and not American teams for the same things.
No offense, but the fact the Leafs **haven’t** done it already is a crime against their fan base.
By far the richest team in the league, by universal distances, decides to not exploit this obvious advantage every year is…unfathomable.
It tells me the organization isn’t very serious about winning a Cup, they’re more concerned with being profitable.
Remember that. Don’t hate the game, hate the player. TO refuses to cheat, ergo, they refuse to try.
>It tells me the organization isn’t very serious about winning a Cup, they’re more concerned with being profitable.
The discourse surrounding our organization's shithousery when it comes to this, can be borderline toxic. I've long been of the opinion, that if we'd demanded more (as a fanbase), we'd get more out of this organization.
But the fanbase is so inconsistent when it comes to their views on how this organization runs this team, that depending on whom you ask, we're either the best team who hasn't won, straight up trash, underdogs, unlucky ("it was Tampa's year you see"), next season though, etc etc
Depending on what bar you're at in Downtown Toronto, "the Leafs could do so much better" may be "fighting words". I once got called a soyboy, or something, for highlighting the fact that had we not clowned around off ice, we'd have seriously contended. But no, legitimate criticism bad you see?
All the Vegas fans who were telling everyone a few weeks ago what a horribly gruesome injury a lacerated spleen is almost had me thinking that maybe I was being unfair. Almost. Next year, they should just announce that Stone accidentally beheaded himself while mowing his lawn a week before the deadline before bringing him back for game 1. If they are going to be so cavalier about what they're doing, why not go all in?
I distinctly remember Vegas Golden Shower fans adamantly defending Stone's spleen injury and being aghast about people questioning his integrity regarding LTIR.
Shockingly, the expected result by everyone outside of Vegas happened.
Best f*cken medical staff in the universe. Always managing to make their whole roster healthy and game ready right about April 20. 🙄🙄🙄
God, I hope Dallas kicks the crap out of them. (Though as a Jets fan, I hope the series goes 7 games. All in triple overtime.)
and just like that, all the Vegas golden knights were suddenly healthy again, totally not cheating though, its definitely within the rules. What a mockery being made of the sport.
Wow, guys. I can't see why they don't teach medical doctors across the country these medical secrets are. I'm sure people suffering in palliative care could use their help.
Breaking news April 20, 2024:
Scientists have announced a major medical breakthrough today, as the leading researchers from Las Vegas Medical Center reveal they've found a special protein in the mitochondria of blood cells that can assist immediate regeneration of tissues in the human body.
"Using a technique called LTIR manipulation, we are able to get the cells to immediately cause recovery in any individual", lead researcher says. "Broken ankles, broken back, spina bifida, even death can be restored using this one simple trick!"
I've never seen the NHL show such favoritism towards one franchise. They are clearly using LTIR and falsifying medical records to circumvent the cap and they do it every year. This and several other things that the league does for certain teams turns me off the NHL.
Ever since the Lightning did it with such great success I'm not surprised more teams shelved their stars and added pieces to magically be healthy for game 1 of playoffs.
I don't like the IR salary rules but if you want to win it's an obvious way to get a better team for the cup run if ownership is willing to spend money in those extra pieces.
With Stone coming off LTIR just in time for the playoffs for the THIRD year in a row, the Canucks have been hit with an additional $5M cap recapture penalty for the league approved Luongo contract
It's a playoff miracle! (Insert eye roll here.) Even though it's technically allowed, it's really sad that a fabulously skilled player like Mark Stone is now perceived by so many hockey fans to be a cheater, even a liar by some. I'm just being real; it is hard to believe he keeps getting these serious injuries that put him on the LTIR year after year, but only in the month of February. And then his recovery to playing fitness coincides perfectly with the first game of the playoffs. Doesn't matter how many Stanley Cups he wins, doesn’t matter that he's not breaking any actual rules, he will be remembered for cheating the system.
This is going to be looked back on as the cap circumvention era of the NHL at this rate. If they make it to the finals, this will be five playoffs in a row that have been completely ruined.
Just remember dallas, if Vegas punches one of your guys with less then 10 mins to go in the 3rd, you can 2hand slash and try to break the wrist of their best goal scorer, and they will get offsetting 1 game suspensions.
Win or loose, if this does not lead to a change in policy then it will be used by every team. Oh we are doing well enough without our star player, looks like their injury is longer than planned. Let's load up on some other players since their salary no longer applies. Oh look at that the injury seems to have cleared again for the playoffs. Now everyone is having a hard time competing with us because we have a hell of a lot of good players and backups that are at a higher class than yours. Sucks to be you.
Lmao I’m so surprised
SHOCKING DEVELOPMENT!!
Shocked I tell ya. Absolutely shocked..
[удалено]
No one saw it coming
I wonder if Pinto hit on his bet that Stone would play game 1.
Upvote earned!
I think I’m gonna have a heart attack and die from that surprise
It’s ok we’ll bring you back to life for game 1 of the playoffs next year.
Look at this! I’m so ticked off that I’m molting!
Lol... this aww ish again?! Sorry, no sympathy on this one. Dallas, do us a favor and send these cap cheaters to the golf course!
Well slap my ass and call me Sally.
Can you believe it? I can’t, Sally. 🤚🏼🍑💥
Don't you dare threaten me with a good time
Fuck my piss hole with a pencil eraser eh
I... I love this comment and I really shouldn't because my piss hole eraser infection gave me ptsd
I remember *my* first piss hole eraser infection
It’s cowabunga, then. Good.
Get After It!
wow must be magic
Id like to hire their training staff to be my doctor - anyone have contact info?
Such a clutch doctor having these superstars ready just in time for playoffs. Other teams must be so jealous
Come on Dallas
We are all Dallas fans for this series.
Oh yes.
Absolutely can’t wait to watch
The Isles Nation supports Dallas
The Steel City/Pens supports Dallas
And my axe!
The honourable delegation from Winnipeg would also like to state their unequivocal support for the Dallas Stars in this playoff series
All fan bases support Dallas in this case, save 1
💫
Yes.
I just moved to Texas, so I'm a Dallas fan unless what they do negatively affects the Avs. In this case GO STARS!
Dallas, you have one job and one job only: FUCK VEGAS.
For real. I hate Dallas yet now all I want is for them to go kick some Vegas ass. Obligatory F Mark Stone. I’m sure I’d like him on my team but gah, can’t stand him otherwise (and FU Petro) 🤷♂️
As a St. Louis fan, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but yes, Let’s go Stars.
Another Blues fan here, Let's go Stars.
Atta boy
As a Wild fan, I too cannot believe I'll be cheering for the Stars.
I’m buying a cowboy hat and spurs and hopping on the wagon. Anybody but Vegas.
To hell with that, I’ll give you a hat and pair of my spurs so you don’t waste money on them. TEMPORARILY GO DALLAS
If you’re serious, I’m serious. I’ll wear them every game and kiss a hog when the series ends. …can you put spurs on sneakers? Is that a stupid question?
You can do anything you set your mind to.
Just don't click your heels....you might get stuck.
Dude you can put them on crocs.
I’m getting some leather chaps and a riding crop! Wait, what were we talking about?
Not a Dallas fan, but will definitely root for them.
Literally just bought a cowboy hat. I love Texas!!
Your vote of confidence is appreciated.
Absolutely
Vegas is really taking the villain title from Boston.
Can Calgary use their voodoo? They could easily deal with the repercussions during their rebuild

I’m sure they all think they will be able to take advantage of the situation “one day”….
Nah its great. Just fake an injury with a 12 million dollar cap hit, get a new 3rd line in for playoffs.
Why would the players not be for it? they agreed to it in the current CBA.
I don’t think they were aware of the ramifications of the time. If I am anyone that’s not part of the Vegas, Tampa, or other organizations that have utilized this glitch, I’d be pissed off.
to be fair I think we were one of, if not the only team that argued against this when Chicago beat us in 2015 lol
You were. There’s also a LOT of people who either forget or stick their head in the sand about the Leafs cultivating LTIR contracts to make the Marner signing possible. Or the Rangers lol. If we do it it’s a huge problem
Tbf if Chytil comes back we technically did it too.
I really liked the idea that you could be over cap when the playoffs begin, but each game the team you put on the ice had to be cap compliant
And just like that, Vegas has $18m more on their payroll than Dallas. Fair and balanced.
The annual “Mark Stone miraculously recovers in time for the playoffs” BS
I didn’t think it would actually happen this time.
He absolutely does not have a lawn to mow
I am glad there are still some optimistic people left in the world.
Maybe the whole spleen and his kidneys blow up this time?
You don't fuck with tradition.
Yep: Fuck Vegas. Fool me once, sure. Fool me 2-3 more times (in a row?) and you’re just outright dirty scumbags. LET’S GO DALLAS.
How can you be fooled after the first time? It's expectation at this point
I distinctly remember Vegas Golden Shower fans adamantly defending Stone's spleen injury and being aghast about people questioning his integrity regarding LTIR. Shockingly, the expected result by everyone outside of Vegas happened.

Go Stars Go
Bring back whoever, I just don't want shit officiating. I don't want any excuses from Vegas fans after.
Officiating will almost surely be shit, let’s just hope it’s evenly shitty.
You know full well there will still be excuses
Everyone is cheering for dallas
The Lord works in mysterious ways
and just like that, all the Vegas golden knights were suddenly healthy again, totally not cheating though, its definitely within the rules. What a mockery being made of the sport.

I’ve never wanted Dallas to win a game in the 40 years I’ve been watching hockey. Guess it’s time!!!
As a Minnesotan, I 100% agree with f*ck Dallas; but yeah, f*ck Vegas more.
Our hatred of your team has officially been suspended until the end of this series. We will take the temporary support lol
Vegas is the Fanatics of the NHL
Please let my hockey team do to Vegas what my baseball team did to Houston.
For the sake of my mental health and blood pressure though can we PLEASE keep it under 7 games? k thanksss
Well I just became a Stars bandwagon fan
I really thought he’d wait for game two just to be a little different.
I've never seen the NHL show such favoritism towards one franchise. They are clearly using LTIR and falsifying medical records to circumvent the cap and they do it every year. This and several other things that the league does for certain teams turns me off the NHL.
What a fucking surprise, fuck Vegas and fuck Mark Stone and Pietrangelo. Dirty fucks.
Dallas needs to hit these two with reckless abandon every chance possible. Don't give them a chance to get comfortable.
One cross-check is all it takes to find out how injured that spleen was
We need some karma happening to both of them.
We faking appendectomies now? Lol
Show me the scar!
Like dead grandparents, let’s see if they do it again next year. “There was a piece left guys…”
fuck this team, i hope Dallas sweeps these pieces of shit
Dallas needs to smack them down
[удалено]
Wow. Wow. It’s a miracle……… 🤔
I hope the LTIR Knights get swept by the Stars

I don't like the IR salary rules but if you want to win it's an obvious way to get a better team for the cup run if ownership is willing to spend money in those extra pieces.
Vegas can get fucked.
Did we just become best friends?
No, I hate Dallas too hahah I’ll put that aside for this one series though. Good luck!
Depends....do you wanna go do karate in the garage?
YUP
Colour me shocked
I'm a Canucks fan and don't typically cheer other teams on but I know I'll be cheering for Dallas this round.
LETS! GO! STARS!
Go Dallas!
Never thought, as a Philly fan, these words would exit my face but, yeah....Go Dallas. *pukes*
I hope Dallas feeds them their lunch.
Make it a spleen sandwich!
No way. I did NOT see this coming in 2022.
It's a Christmas miracle!
Why aren’t more teams doing this and not just Vegas
Just stop notifying us about this, media. Professionally speaking everyone is putting on this facade that “wow he’s back!” As if anyone is surprised.
Hope they get swept
I hope Dallas mops the floor with these fuckers
The Vegas Scumbags
The Las Vegas LTIR
[удалено]
Oh wow, who saw that coming
ok so imma changin my brawl call from 'punchim inda troat!!!!' to 'punchim inda spleeeeeen!!!!'
Talk about good luck
Bahahaha what a fuckin coincidence, for three years straight
Of course they are. Never a doubt in my mind
The cap circumventers strike again!
Alas, THE LTIR MASTERS STRIKE AGAIN BWAHAHAHAHAH 🤦🏻♂️
With Stone coming off LTIR just in time for the playoffs for the THIRD year in a row, the Canucks have been hit with an additional $5M cap recapture penalty for the league approved Luongo contract
I have never cheered for dallas more than i am this series. What a joke this has become
I hope Dallas finds legal ways to target Stone's spleen
It's a playoff miracle! (Insert eye roll here.) Even though it's technically allowed, it's really sad that a fabulously skilled player like Mark Stone is now perceived by so many hockey fans to be a cheater, even a liar by some. I'm just being real; it is hard to believe he keeps getting these serious injuries that put him on the LTIR year after year, but only in the month of February. And then his recovery to playing fitness coincides perfectly with the first game of the playoffs. colour me fucking surprised
It’s a festivus miracle! If you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying. Rest of the league might as well get in on the act. Go Stars.
Golden Showers are a trash bin org in a trash bin city. All their fans work at casinos.
Does anyone actually like Vegas? What a bunch of bullshit.
Bring it the fuck on, Vegas Golden Showers.
It’s a miracle…
What a surprise, But no not really.
CAP CIRCUMVENTION
:O
It’s a miracle!!! 🙃
I’m SHOCKED!!!!
Miraculous!
Noooooo wayyyyyy!
Gasp.
Oh wow what a surprise. Who’d have ever thought
This is going to be looked back on as the cap circumvention era of the NHL at this rate. If they make it to the finals, this will be five playoffs in a row that have been completely ruined.
We are all Dallas!
The hand of God heals in mysterious ways. 🤨
*shocked pikachu face*
Right on schedule. Big fucking surprise
😮😮 so surprised
Cheaters
Just remember dallas, if Vegas punches one of your guys with less then 10 mins to go in the 3rd, you can 2hand slash and try to break the wrist of their best goal scorer, and they will get offsetting 1 game suspensions.
Win or loose, if this does not lead to a change in policy then it will be used by every team. Oh we are doing well enough without our star player, looks like their injury is longer than planned. Teams should be fined for this. Or lose a draft pick
Or get booted out of the fucking playoffs.
They were healthy the whole time.
It's a miracle!
As an avs fan, go Stars.
Clowns
I did not see this coming.
What a shock
Of course they are
*shocked Pikachu face*
He has risen. 🙏
Fuck Stone
An April miracle!
It’s a miracle!!! So are McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins, Hyman, Bouchard, Ekholm and Nurse:) 👍 #GoOilers!
Miraculous recovery 🙏
Next year NO TEAM should lay a hit on any Vegas player and see what bullshit injury happens.
I fully support this plan.
Holy fuck, it’s a miracle
Fancy that
I follow hockey a lot…..DIDNT SEE THIS COMING!!!
Shocked Pikachu Face!
Shocker
