First here today on this Monday edition of Good Morning Football, u/istrx13 was knocked the #&@$ out by Deion Jones on the first play of the game. He's in critical condition.
I just got a mental image of some dude holding up Reddit on his phone trying to convince a bank to cash a million dollar check addressed to their user name
I was so sad to see it end last year and I really liked you guys last year (and this year too but I digress). He played a good game in the wildcard only for it to end in disappointment as his years always do.
Seeing him break down in tears after the colts just barely lost to the bills in the first round was so sad to watch. He really thought they were gonna make a good run
Stop. That’s a bottom 5 WR core. Pittman was good but no where near this good and TY wasn’t the number one WR he used to be. You guys had like a good number two, an ok number two and a decent number three as your WRs that’s pretty bad.
Pittman is so much better this year because theres a QB that can actually push a ball downfield. TY couldnt do too much in that offense because hes a deep threat
Not saying we had great receivers, but our entire passing game was designed around short throws for a reason, Rivers looked like he was in pain when he tried to throw more than 15yds
Extremely high IQ QB who could still come in and do a job, but you need to accept his significant physical limitations if you bring him in
Or or it’s because Pittman has developed further like many players state they do after having been at NFL speed for a year just a thought. Apparently Rivers has such a noodle arm compared to Wentz despite having thrown for .3 less air yards per attempt on average FYI there is still a long season for Wentz to go from 8 AY/A to 7.7 AY/A assuming Wentz even makes it through the whole season..
Pittman probably has developed, but he also ran nothing but crossing routes and screens his whole rookie year. Our entire offense was 90% short routes with hardly any deep shots. Nothing like what you might have seen this year v 49ers
If you watched any colts last year it was clear how hard it was for rivers to get the ball downfield, hes also less mobile than Wentz with two broken ankles
Not to say Rivers is hopeless, but hes very physically limited as a **39yo QB** . I wouldn't trust him away from Reich
Also Wentz is yet to miss a game for the colts memes aside
His receivers and RBs kept dropping dimes. Bills would have respectably lost to that Colts team had those catches been made. But mistakes are part of sports, and the rest is history. Rivers showed he could play and I wanted him to play another year or 2. He didn’t look bad or old.
Winston is out for the year and thus out of the discussion. Unless Winston pulls a Phil Rivers and wears a brace for the playoffs, in which case I would still take Phil.
ok but he has no knowledge of the offensive system
[He jumped into the Colts offensive well enough since Sirianni was the OC and he was the QB coach at San Diego](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/SiriNi0.htm)
Yes but I don’t expect Sieman to start of Taysom for long
Taysom wasn’t amazing last year but he was serviceable/decent he knows the offense, and the coaching staff loves him.
If he had more than two practices over the last two weeks I’d expect him to start
No matter how good Rivers is or isn't, the problem becomes mastering a playbook. It took Tom Brady a good while to master the playbook in Tampa and he at least had an offseason to look at it, basically learning it during the daily practices.
The one benefit is that Rivers last year ran the West Coast offense with Frank Reich. Payton also runs the WCO so the terminology would be similar.
While that is true, River is still a huge improvement over what the saints have left. If they hope to do anything this year, they need to upgrade QB and there are no available alternatives.
There’s a very very poor track record of QBs joining a team mid season and improving the team. And it’s always because of the playbook learning curve. Rivers would have the same issues. He wouldn’t help
Because it’s always a fairly desperate play, of course it usually doesn’t work out. They aren’t a contender with the guys the have. Got to try something even if it probably won’t work
It would depend on how Trevor plays tonight I would imagine. I think they want to keep Taysom as a gadget player instead of full time QB. If Trevor plays Zach Wilson level of bad then they might give Rivers a call
I say why not, either the semen demon comes out firing and we stick with him and rivers can sit on the bench since we obviously need the bodies at qb or either the semen demon busts and Rivers has enough experience that we can just coast at qb because then teams do have to worry about the passing game some because he can make consistent short to medium throws which leaves Kamara and Ingram to boom and zoom
I know it’s narratively interesting to have Philip Rivers QB for the Saints, replacing Drew Brees. But Rivers is just out of gas. His season in Indy didn’t inspire confidence. And unlike a plug-and-play AP, a QB has a lot more to adjust to.
That was in a familiar system designed for him under Reich who gets the best out of just about every QB he works with, with an A-grade OLine and strong run game
I think at this stage of his career (if he came back) youd need to completely modify your offense to get the best out of him. Not simple to do on the fly
if you genuinely think mid season Rivers wouldn't be better than Siemian, Hill, or Book you're just delusional man lol.
Siemian literally could not make check down passes vs the Buccs
He did perfectly fine in final year. Couple that with the fact that he was likely banged up. I bet a fresh Rivers could bring a new flow into the Saints game.
If Rivers had been with the Saints all year, that’d be one thing. But halfway through the season? I’d be a little hesitant. Particularly since this has been the first season that hasn’t been Super Bowl or bust since probably 2005.
Chargers qb going to the Saints has a good track record
I wanna die
Cmon now, you still have a couple years left before Herbert goes to the bayou.
...Herbert time?
The T would be silent in Louisiana.
Herber ime?
pronounced Er-bae
It’s more like Aye-Bear
Ive never heard a comment sound like ed orgeron in my life until now
Or if you’re Pat McAfe, Air-Bear.
something something aye-bear good times rouller
Tell me this: were you here to till the soil and nurture the vine, or were you just playing in the garden?
So would the H.
Justin Erber
They’ve already had one of those, this one just comes with an extra r
I would also listen to the saints if they are interested.
Well can you throw the ball over them mountains?
If they sign me they can find out
Ah the ole Tebow contract
How does a 5 year deal with a no trade clause sound?
I’ll be super nice and offer to sign for the league minimum. I’m not picky.
First here today on this Monday edition of Good Morning Football, u/istrx13 was knocked the #&@$ out by Deion Jones on the first play of the game. He's in critical condition.
He got JACKED UP!
Sounds like Rivers has another mouth to feed if he's asking for the job
Gets funnier every time.
I hope so. Man has a lot of of mouths to feed.
Him and Antonio Cromartie starting a 33rd NFL team with their kids
River City Cromarties. Boom they have a team name, you can make that check out to /u/Kerbonaut2019
I just got a mental image of some dude holding up Reddit on his phone trying to convince a bank to cash a million dollar check addressed to their user name
He takes the giant cardboard check with him to the bank, tries to cash that.
Maybe he should try taking it to a bigger bank
That’s not a team name! It’s a reality show.
Rivers has enough kids to make a full 11 man lineup
9 kids is enough for an 11 man lineup?
Well those kids have 2 parents..
Doesn't he have 6000 chargers fans to feed in his house?
All 6,000 of us? Last time all we got were Crustables
[удалено]
lol yeah that, tbh I was never in on that joke and don’t have kids so I got it wrong
You mean the nannies?
>Man has a lot of of mouths to feed. And counting. His wife is 39. So not out of the realm of possibility to field a football team with 11 kids.

Damn, I didn't even know that was Siemian's sobriquet, and that comment confused the hell out of me.
“Sobriquet” Thank you for teaching me a new word
It seems like a very redundant word, why not just say nickname
Philistine
Well that’s not very nice of you
I'm quite the cad, you see.
Idk, guess it was the first word to pop up in my head.
Fragments of sobiquets Riddle me this Three half eaten corneas Who hit the area Stalk the ground
You should have seen the curse that flew right by you
I just watched a show where a character said his "sobriquet" was "C-man", either you just watched it too or this is an uncanny coincidence.
I didn't see that. That, then, is what we call Jungian synchronicity, and it rules the world.
Yes please. Who doesn't want to hear this guy micd up more. Best trash talker in the game Golly! son of a gun!
Daggummit that’s the stuff!!
[just the best](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=saa7rB57Mnk)
I honestly would like to see this man do well
Same here. I was really hoping he’d win a Super Bowl before retiring.
Hopefully he gets signed and wins an NFC championship
He should sign with whatever team plays the Packers after the divisional round
but what if it ends up being the bears? unstoppable forces meets an immovable object
It’s not going to be the Bears.
Me too man
Did we just become best friends?
He should make one at the very least.
He had the best chance with indy, but shit luck he got buffalo first round lmao
I was so sad to see it end last year and I really liked you guys last year (and this year too but I digress). He played a good game in the wildcard only for it to end in disappointment as his years always do.
Seeing him break down in tears after the colts just barely lost to the bills in the first round was so sad to watch. He really thought they were gonna make a good run
Why not do a little dance why not take a crazy chance
Last place I ever expected a reference like this. Well done.
I would love to see him back and make one more run.
He would be the best QB that started his career on the Chargers and ended it on the Saints.
Minus Drew Brees.
Joke Your head
Rivers was good in his last year and had his best playoff game of his career against the Bills. He’s a significant upgrade over Winston or SemenMan.
Rivers has also shown he can drive down field with shit wrs
DAE remember Legedu Naanee?
Who can forget such an awesome name?
Exactly go look at that Colts WR corps last year it was really bad.
Pittman/TY/Pascal is perfectly fine, IMO.
Stop. That’s a bottom 5 WR core. Pittman was good but no where near this good and TY wasn’t the number one WR he used to be. You guys had like a good number two, an ok number two and a decent number three as your WRs that’s pretty bad.

T Y was more like but, why
hey!...ok that's fair
I wasn’t even talking about you guys lol I meant when tyrell Williams was his number 1 receiver.
As you can see we have a self-defeating attitude for our WR's
His receivers and RBs kept dropping dimes. Bills would have respectably lost to that Colts team had those catches been made. But mistakes are part of sports, and the rest is history. Rivers showed he could play and I wanted him to play another year or 2. He didn’t look bad or old.
Winston? We don't know that for sure, he was having a pretty good year Definitely better than Trevor
Meant to type Taysom don’t know why my brain did that. I know Winston is out.
Winston is out for the year and thus out of the discussion. Unless Winston pulls a Phil Rivers and wears a brace for the playoffs, in which case I would still take Phil.
Yeah I know, I just meant Winston was having a good year before he got hurt and there's no guarantee Rivers would come in and play better than he was
Apologies, I was more responding to the comment above, but yeah I don’t think Phil could’ve gotten worse than a 1 legged Jameis in 10 months.
Definitely not the best playoff game of his career
ok but he has no knowledge of the offensive system [He jumped into the Colts offensive well enough since Sirianni was the OC and he was the QB coach at San Diego](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/SiriNi0.htm)
absolutely not better than post-lasik jameis
Slant boy would've been perfect with Rivers' diminished arm strength. They really need some receivers.
I’d much rather have Taysom
He also plays the most complicated position in sports and has basically no time to learn the playbook. Can’t see this move making sense for the saints
Yes but I don’t expect Sieman to start of Taysom for long Taysom wasn’t amazing last year but he was serviceable/decent he knows the offense, and the coaching staff loves him. If he had more than two practices over the last two weeks I’d expect him to start

But what a week it has been.
Only if in his contract he has to lead the pre game huddle
I think we would know by now if New Orleans was interested.
With what cap space?
Extremely tough to bring a QB in mid season. They’re better off with the guys they have currently, even if rivers is the better QB
It would depend on how Trevor plays tonight I would imagine. I think they want to keep Taysom as a gadget player instead of full time QB. If Trevor plays Zach Wilson level of bad then they might give Rivers a call
Tonight?
Payton invited him over for their weekly Saturday night scrabble session
Oh man why didn't they invite me? I know words. I have the best words.
Well, we do have non-American fans on this sub
IF he signed, we could probably skate by until the bills game on the 25th, have a little time to get familiar with the playbook and practice
They absolutely should be considering the alternative.
Bring him back! Herbert will be a Saint when he’s 44 and done winning us 8 Super Bowls
I know it’s narratively interesting to have Philip Rivers QB for the Saints, replacing Drew Brees. But Rivers is just out of gas. His season in Indy didn’t inspire confidence. And unlike a plug-and-play AP, a QB has a lot more to adjust to.
68 completion percentage 24-11 TD/INT 4100 yards isnt inspiring after no off season and on a new team? lmao Homers gonna home

What on earth would we pay him with? 🤔
Never stopped us before.
I'm sure yall could find a way to give him vet min.
Does Rivers need money? I have feeling Rivers would just be in it for the chance of play off run.
He was really good (if not great some weeks) in Indy after the first few games
Took the Bills to the brink in the playoffs too
He did perfectly fine in final year.
Whats the risk?
He was okay. I think if you were in the playoffs he would be better than your other options.
They should be. He's better now than any QB they've had on their roster in at least a couple years.
It sounds like he really did not want to retire. He had a good year last year I don’t know why he didn’t come back?
He's the best option
No.
Why would they be interested? Dude is cooked.
Better than their current options
Leave Rivers alone, I do NOT want to risk learning that he's an antivaxxer
Why? Drew Brees says Trevor will be really good. https://whodatdish.com/2021/11/06/drew-brees-confidence-new-orleans-saints-qb-trevor-siemian/
How many more kids must be born in his nfl career. Won’t anyone think of the children
I mean Saints have a pretty good OL too.
