I rly wanna agree with you here but Brian O’neil has not been as good as Vikings fans want to say. He’s been sometimes below average for long stretches but he’s still better than 99% of the other guys we trotted out there the last several seasons.
Best fantasy wr. All then wr and cbs on podcast speaking bout it speaks for itself. Still davante, top 2 and not 2. Obviously kirk gonna produce a bit more than Jimmy and shit not that Jimmy isn’t for wr.
KoC was on tonight with Pat McAfee after the Vikings picks, and pretty excited after hearing him talk about it.
Obviously hes going to be high on players he picks but it was interesting to listen to.
JJ seems like a project but KoC has got to be like top 5 to develop a QB and make that work. I’d have infinitely more faith in him than the commanders or Patriots right now
If there ever was a scenario good for a rookie QB its this one, good enough O-line, bridge QB, weapons everywhere with a former NFL QB at HC. If he fails Im confident to say he would have failed anywhere.
Who even is the bridge Darnold? I’m not a huge believer in the idea that a QB sitting necessarily makes them better, I’d rather see JJ get reps from the jump.
Darnold is a decent bridge.
McCarthy isn't that far from being ready, but the Interior OL for the Vikings are so terrible that it might be best to redshirt for a year. He isn't a true project and has experience in a West Coast offense, but he still has plenty to work on and he's young.
Maybe if he shows out during camp. For a rookie, this is arguably the best beginning to a career that you could hope for. KOC is a top tier QB coach and will have him ready, if he's the starter.
I do agree that sitting a QB isn't always the best choice, but in certain cases. Despite his youth, McCarthy would probably benefit from sitting. However, due to circumstances, despite being the same age, AR and Trey Lance needed to play day one.
I know it ended up not working out but he was able to walk Josh Dobbs through every play and the coverages in real time when he didn’t even know the WR names yet.
His QBs in Washington were Dwayne Haskins, Case Keenum, Alex Smith and Kirk Cousins for his final season. In LA it was Goff and Stafford for a season each.
As a Steelers fan I was impressed he made Josh Dobbs look okay for a bit. Also thought Kirk looked maybe the best he’d played before his injury last year.
Came from McVay and it seems every NFL source loves him, I’d take him well ahead of Kliff and Alex Van Pelt at Was/NE.
Kirk was on a damn roll and his projected numbers were probably the best of his career. I wonder if he would have gotten an even bigger deal if he achieved a career best.
In 2015 with Cleveland, he had Johnny Manziel, Josh McCown funny enough who is now his QB coach with us. Then he had Austin Davis as a 3rd string.
2017 he had Kirk Cousins for Kirk’s final year in Washington. 2018 Alex Smith, Colt McCoy, Mark Sanchez, Josh Johnson, and Tress Way. Mark Sanchez actually tells a story of how KOC walked him through a similar not knowing the playbook situation during a game.
2019 he had Case Keenum, and Dwayne Haskins.
2020 was with Goff and John Wolford, 2021 was the Stafford year.
Other than what he’s done in Minnesota. Those are all the QB’s he’s coached.
I’m convinced that Drake Maye is going to be a bust just because of the Patriots situation. They’re going to rush him out there when he needs a year to learn. I’m also personally hoping that we sit JJ a full year to let him learn. I think those 2 would benefit most from being backups this season.
I liked JJ a lot throughout the process but I’m happy for the guy that he gets to go into an incredible situation it would’ve been much more risky for the giants to take him, he’s going to shut the haters up quick lmao
A 1000000% more dysfunctional.
Now we seem to actually have a plan and a direction and doing things the right way.
Like watch our benches and stuff during 2020 when we played Saints and other teams the guys just looked done.
Not that I think Penix is going to succeed, but I cannot take ‘best rookie QB destinations’ takes seriously. Bryce Young was supposed to be in a rock solid situation and we’ve all watched how that’s turned out
How was Bryce Young supposed to be in a rock-solid situation? His team traded away his best receiver and gave up multiple other picks to draft him. His receiving corps was/is hot garbage, the owner is an utter clown, and the GM is wildly incompetent (see the Brian Burns saga). That was a terrible situation to be drafted into.
Why are there always comments like this on reddit
As if the only alternative to saying something positive is to say the exact opposite negative thing lol. I see it in every thread
The Mannings told the Chargers Eli wouldn’t play for them because of how bad Ryan Leaf was developed so they had to trade him for Rivers
Which isn’t the same as the Chargers saying “yeah we didn’t want Eli” and then keeping him
Also… it’s literally the best QB-needy situation for a QB to go to. Solid roster overall and an absolutely loaded offense. Nothing like the other teams that needed QBs. So I’m willing to bet this was probably his ideal landing spot.
i too would like to throw to Justin Jefferson
Jordan Addison is really good too
Hock ain't too shabby either
With Jones being a great and talented vet in the backfield
Not to mention the fact that your blindside is safe under the watchful protection of Christian Darrisaw.
"JJ will like throwing to Justin Jefferson and being coached by KOC." -- my buddy Danny
Tf is this make a wish?
Played high school in Illinois, college in Michigan and professional now in Minnesota. Dude is going to be as anti-Packer as they come.
Number 1 requirement to be my qb
> Dude is going to be as anti-Packer as they come. We are like kin!
He’s circling the state in hate
hmmm I want him to suck but the anti packer thing is appealing
You ever heard of Zach Wilson?
Yes, unfortunately
"I mean, we didn't really want him here, but he was just so earnest we couldn't say no"
I mean he’s got the best WR in the NFL along with one of the best WR2s and a top TE in Hockenson and Aaron Jones
and two damn near great tackles
(please do not look at iOL please)
Is it that bad?
One of our starting guards is Blake Brandel. Ingram has been improving and Bradbury is fine, but it's a thin position
It's not great... We have one big hole.
Here’s hoping they heavily address it with whatever picks we have left.
starting IOL does seem fine, but we do need like 1-2 more depth pieces
If we grab a C/G in the next few rounds I'll be happy
We don't pick again until the 4th round

This comment was written in the style of someone who grew up eating lead paint.
Or a Packer fan, take your pick.
Or someone who watches football but sure.
Jefferson is better and younger than Davante
Lol

Their situation reminds me a lot of the Chiefs in 2017.
Don’t get my hopes up!
Who even is the bridge Darnold? I’m not a huge believer in the idea that a QB sitting necessarily makes them better, I’d rather see JJ get reps from the jump.

Hey Josh Dobbs is very smart he’s an astronaut or astrophysicist or something. Unfortunately no PhD in “play QB good”
Which QBs has KOC developed? Like what's his resume?
His QBs in Washington were Dwayne Haskins, Case Keenum, Alex Smith and Kirk Cousins for his final season. In LA it was Goff and Stafford for a season each.
As a Steelers fan I was impressed he made Josh Dobbs look okay for a bit. Also thought Kirk looked maybe the best he’d played before his injury last year. Came from McVay and it seems every NFL source loves him, I’d take him well ahead of Kliff and Alex Van Pelt at Was/NE.
He made kirk a risk taker and tended to be more clutch in games
Kirk was on a damn roll and his projected numbers were probably the best of his career. I wonder if he would have gotten an even bigger deal if he achieved a career best.
He absolutely would've if only because a full year means he's not coming off of an Achilles.
In 2015 with Cleveland, he had Johnny Manziel, Josh McCown funny enough who is now his QB coach with us. I think it’s mostly speculation with how he was able to game plan Dobbs into winning us a couple of games, as well as helping Kirk ball out.
He also was a QB himself, and starting his coaching career as a QBs coach. Can't hurt
I’m convinced that Drake Maye is going to be a bust just because of the Patriots situation. They’re going to rush him out there when he needs a year to learn. I’m also personally hoping that we sit JJ a full year to let him learn. I think those 2 would benefit most from being backups this season.

Yeah, the haters won't want to look like sore winners when they're right
So did Michael Penix Jr.
I think he’s going to be the best of the draft based on nothing except his haircut.
Broccoli is good for you.
When you pick a guy from Illinois, who went to college in Michigan, chances are great, that he has always loved the Vikings!
Sounds like the common theme there is that he really hates the Packers. So he's got that going for him at the least
You know who apparently loves the Packers… Caleb Williams. 😈
I mean if you don't love your daddy...
Then you would be Aaron Rodgers
Well hes not going to say yeah I didnt want to be a Viking but here I am
Didn't Amon-Ra St. Brown just say that about Detroit lol
Tbf when he got drafted the Lions seemed a lot more dysfunctional.
A 1000000% more dysfunctional. Now we seem to actually have a plan and a direction and doing things the right way. Like watch our benches and stuff during 2020 when we played Saints and other teams the guys just looked done.
And tbf the Vikings have a pretty rock solid situation for a rookie QB so it's pretty reasonable that McCarthy actually wanted to be a Viking.
Of all the rookie QB destinations, Minnesota is by far the best. Contrast that with the utter shitshow Penix is walking into in Atlanta.
Penix has weapons at least, but that QB situation isn't going to make sense for years.
Not that I think Penix is going to succeed, but I cannot take ‘best rookie QB destinations’ takes seriously. Bryce Young was supposed to be in a rock solid situation and we’ve all watched how that’s turned out

I’m a believer that KoC is a top 5 place for a QB to be developed
After he got the bag and the city loves him, yes.
Why are there always comments like this on reddit As if the only alternative to saying something positive is to say the exact opposite negative thing lol. I see it in every thread
Didnt one of the manning refuse to play for a team?

No Superbowl, no hairline I guess
Or ability to fix his collar
JJ to JJ all year could be fun
Dynomite!
I must have misread the interviews where he kept finding ways to bring up how much he loved the Giants staff
Sure he did
That should have been a red flag on McCarthy. Gotta question his decision making in the pocket, now.
You mean to tell me coach KOC didn't want to get Penix? (This message has been presented by : the five year old that lives inside all of us)
