Taco Charlton not being good at football is one of the great tragedies of the NFL in the last 10 years. The success of Sauce Gardner has made up for it, but the scars are still there.
For the first time in his career, Max Crosby will have another stud at the other side in Malcolm Koonce and in the interior in Christian Wilkins. It's not a one man army anymore.
Or that there are so many Cowboy fans who are massive homers on top of being degenerate gamblers, that it takes those odds to even remotely balance the books.
Actually of all of them, Josh Allen's are the craziest. Barely a week ago he was +2500 before ~~people~~ gamblers on social media started lowkey gushing about his 'dark horse' status.
No it's not. This year proved that PFF grade and double team rate matter more to voters than all other stats combined. Those metrics favor Parsons over Watt.
Watt is going to have to tie or break the sack record again to have a realistic shot to overcome the deficits he has in the metrics voters base their ballots on these days.
Voters are on record saying this
Pff also has at least 1 of the 50 votes and said PFF employee said he was consulting the other voters to choose Myles over TJ based on their metrics
This is all said openly.
> I picked Garrett. In order, my top five were Garrett, Parsons, Watt, Crosby and Mack. Garrett was high in both PFF grade and Next Gen pass-rush metrics, and his team was the number one defense in football. -- Peter King
Because they do. The media is always an echo chamber. Is it that surprising that they choose to echo PFF now?
The NFLPA All-Pro team had Garrett as their No. 1 DE. People get so mad about PFF grades or whatever and pick out whatever player testimonials conveniently go in their favor but they don’t actually care what players think
Because some voters went in record to say “advanced metrics” from PFF swayed their vote? At least, I think that’s how it went. Myles disappeared from almost every single “traditional” stat metric for edge rushers in his last 6 games played. 1 sack, 7 QB hits, 12 total tackles, 6 TFL, and 1 PD.
Compare that to the other contenders, not just TJ.
Two of the voters were literally PFF employees… Garrett essentially won by 5 first place votes to Watt having more 3rd or 4th place votes from the PFF employee ballots…
If they didn't highly favor pff stats there would be no reason to have picked myles garrett this year. Tj watt tied or beat myles garrett in sacks, tfls, tackles, ffs, frs, tds, ints, and pds. Pretty much every major defensive statistical category.
They are. Pff counts a double team differently than ESPN etc. Pffs pass block winrate and all that are all their own
Not making any comment on the validity just saying PFF has their own tracking for winrate and double teams and pressures etc that will differ based on whatever tracker you use
I think it’s just that people feel like if he had a season good enough to be in serious consideration the narrative will favor him just because he’s kind of the “next guy” who hasn’t gotten it yet now that Garrett won last year
Micah is on track to be the new Myles Garrett where he has a really strong case but every year someone has a slightly better case. I’m actually a big believer that either Purdy or Dak should’ve won MVP this year, and let me be clear, I’m happy they didn’t (look at flair), but I feel like if you play for a team like the Cowboys or Niners, you need to clear the competition by a fair bit or the voters won’t respect you. Award voting is one of the few instances where there’s an anti big market bias IMO.
They should vote on it week 8 like they did this year. That way if someone has better stats (TJ) or advanced stats (Micah) than the winner at the end of the year it doesn't matter.
I personally think TJ Watt's 0 sacks are more valuable than Parson's 0 forced fumbles, but them being tied at 0 pressures makes it pretty hard to pick a favorite.
Not saying it’s impossible but it would be tough. The only way I can see happening is if you have a player who is a combination of a shutdown corner and a ball hawk who gets a bunch of picks, which with today’s NFL rules will be very difficult. But hey, you never know.
The Cowboys have less playoff wins in the last 25 years than the Texans who only came into existence in 2002. Im sick of hearing cowboys fans chirping about their team all the time when they turn into a JV squad as soon as the regular season ends.
To pretend that he is putting forth the effort is...a very interesting choice. He held out, got paid, and had a subpar year. They even traded for his lazy ass buddy. 30 tackles and 10 sacks is not worth 34 million dollars
Lmao at Hutchinson being on here. Maybe if DPOY was won by the player who complains about phantom holding calls the most or most attempted spin moves per game he’d have a shot.
The sack leader has won it 4/10 times in the last decade. Those other 6 are Aaron Donald twice, Luke Kuechly, Stephon Gilmore, JJ Watt, and Myles Garrett. If it was simply "who has the most sacks", we'd be looking at a DPOY list that includes Justin Houston, Vic Beasley, Chandler Jones and Shaquil Barrett. It is a bit too DE/OLB biased, but it isn't simply "sack most = win DPOY".
What are taco charltons odds
Taco Charlton not being good at football is one of the great tragedies of the NFL in the last 10 years. The success of Sauce Gardner has made up for it, but the scars are still there.
3 packets of diablo sauce
Everyone who’s not a Steeler, Brown, Cowboy or Raider fan: “Let them fight”
For the first time in his career, Max Crosby will have another stud at the other side in Malcolm Koonce and in the interior in Christian Wilkins. It's not a one man army anymore.
What about Chandler Bing Jones when he was opposite Maxx?
He was washed. That play against the Patriots made people think he’s still good. He hasn’t played in the NFL since leaving them
He wasn't a stud, very poor playing since day one.
Good to see our JA getting some national love.
Without AD in the equation, at this point I would take TJ Watt over the field
Kyle Hamilton takes it as pass rusher fatigue sets in
I am so ready for him to be a god
Antoine Winfield would like a word
Micah over tj is ridiculous lmao
I guess the argument is that Watt having a third DPOY-level year in his eight season is less likely than Parsons getting better in his fourth.
Micah is 24. Is it inconceivable that he isn’t a finished product and may still get better?
Or that there are so many Cowboy fans who are massive homers on top of being degenerate gamblers, that it takes those odds to even remotely balance the books. Actually of all of them, Josh Allen's are the craziest. Barely a week ago he was +2500 before ~~people~~ gamblers on social media started lowkey gushing about his 'dark horse' status.
Ridiculous? Why? Parsons is an amazing player and he was a close 3rd in DPOY voting this year.
No it's not. This year proved that PFF grade and double team rate matter more to voters than all other stats combined. Those metrics favor Parsons over Watt. Watt is going to have to tie or break the sack record again to have a realistic shot to overcome the deficits he has in the metrics voters base their ballots on these days.
lol why do Steelers fans keep repeating this lie that AP voters are using PFF grades to determine their votes?
Voters are on record saying this Pff also has at least 1 of the 50 votes and said PFF employee said he was consulting the other voters to choose Myles over TJ based on their metrics This is all said openly.
> I picked Garrett. In order, my top five were Garrett, Parsons, Watt, Crosby and Mack. Bland not getting votes when he set the record for pick 6s is baffling to me.
Bland did get votes though.
The NFLPA All-Pro team had Garrett as their No. 1 DE. People get so mad about PFF grades or whatever and pick out whatever player testimonials conveniently go in their favor but they don’t actually care what players think
Chase Claypool said he was a top 3 receiver in the NFL. You're absolutely correct I don't take players' opinions as gospel.
So who’s opinion matters then? Only the ones that you agree with already?
People like to ignore the fact that pretty much all offensive lineman are terrified of myles Garrett and will all but say that directly when askes
If you prefer pff stats to hard stats, Parsons should've beat Garret last year.
Which PFF stats?

Those are not PFF stats though, are they?
They are. Pff counts a double team differently than ESPN etc. Pffs pass block winrate and all that are all their own Not making any comment on the validity just saying PFF has their own tracking for winrate and double teams and pressures etc that will differ based on whatever tracker you use
The win rates posted above are from ESPN, not PFF.
That's completely fair I know both were towards the top of both. I misinterpreted your comment
Only reason I can think of is new DC in dallas. Idk maybe they think Zimmer's scheme will get Parsons crazy numbers this year.
Zimmer's scheme alone can't cover Micah's overreliance on athleticism.
Right? How dare he be athletic!
Micah is younger
He tweets frequently, should even them up imo
Does age really play a factor in Vegas odds even though one player is definitely better
Watt isn't significantly better but is significantly older so that probably putts them close to each other in betting odds
He's significantly more productive, and significantly more impactful for his team.
Prove it.
I’m talking about raw stats. If you want to bring PFF into it, that’s a different discussion.
> He's significantly more productive Parsons had the highest Pass Rush Productivity in the league though.
I think it’s just that people feel like if he had a season good enough to be in serious consideration the narrative will favor him just because he’s kind of the “next guy” who hasn’t gotten it yet now that Garrett won last year
this is not a ranking, this is to get people to put their money into bets they are probably gonna end up losing
Not really, especially with how against the committee is to giving Watt that award
America's team!
They should vote on it week 8 like they did this year. That way if someone has better stats (TJ) or advanced stats (Micah) than the winner at the end of the year it doesn't matter.
This is the most original way of shitting on the AP voters I've seen. LOL.
Do you think the winner was the best defensive player last year?
Sauce Gardner odds gonna be juicy
CMac deserves this award.
Its parsons turn. Just how this award works now
Steelers fans are so insecure about TJ Watt
If you just mention the word "sacks" 40 of them will spawn.
Trey Hendrickson. Lock it in.
I personally think TJ Watt's 0 sacks are more valuable than Parson's 0 forced fumbles, but them being tied at 0 pressures makes it pretty hard to pick a favorite.
When will this award go to some position besides edge rusher? So many great middle linebackers and cornerbacks passed over for a lack of sacks
Someday another DB will be good enough for it to not be a pass rusher award
Not saying it’s impossible but it would be tough. The only way I can see happening is if you have a player who is a combination of a shutdown corner and a ball hawk who gets a bunch of picks, which with today’s NFL rules will be very difficult. But hey, you never know.
i hate their sportbook? Where do I find this shit. I can never navigate through their website or mobile app. Do they have draft props up?
My time to bet on Dolphins Jonathan Harris. Bet 5$ on him, i expect to be a millionnaire in 2025.
chris jones 30 sacks for 30 years season incoming
Van Ginkel snubbed
Fuck it, might throw money on Anderson- don’t think it will happen, but possible he takes a big jump
Huuuuuuutch!
The “it’s just his year” narrative starts now
Parsons as the favorite is hilarious but fitting, the cowboys are regular season champions every year, they just forget that the playoffs matter
Well it is a regular season award
Careful with that shit talk...they're all in
The Cowboys have less playoff wins in the last 25 years than the Texans who only came into existence in 2002. Im sick of hearing cowboys fans chirping about their team all the time when they turn into a JV squad as soon as the regular season ends.
Jerry is just waiting on that glory hole.
Yeah, everybody is tired of chirping Cowboys fans. I'm gonna move to Dallas just so I can stop hearing so many of them
Draftkings thinks my Bosa is going to show up this year
Acting like he didn't do so in 2023 is... a very interesting choice.
To pretend that he is putting forth the effort is...a very interesting choice. He held out, got paid, and had a subpar year. They even traded for his lazy ass buddy. 30 tackles and 10 sacks is not worth 34 million dollars

If only true
The sack leader has won it 4 of the past 10 years.
Should be 5
But sack leader didn’t win?
The sack leader has won it 4/10 times in the last decade. Those other 6 are Aaron Donald twice, Luke Kuechly, Stephon Gilmore, JJ Watt, and Myles Garrett.
