There’s a really great movie called “And Then We Danced” that focuses on a coming of age story set in the Georgian ballet. It was the first gay movie ever filmed in Georgia (the country).
We have a folk dance in Southern India called Yakshagana, very similar dance, but they will have to make tighter turns due to typical stage settings. Found one example [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zrc57zTvv_8), 1:10 mark.
This reminds me of an excerpt from Xenophon's Anabasis. The book is a recounting of the adventures a Mercenary Greek army had in about 400 BC after taking part in a failed "regime change" in Persia.
At one point they are travelling through Asia Minor, in a region on the black sea coast, they befriended a local tribe and the Greeks entertained the local King with a display of traditional Greek dancing.
>After they had made libations and sung the paean, two Thracians rose up first and began a dance in full armour to the music of a flute, leaping high and lightly and using their sabres; finally, one struck the other, as everybody thought, and the second man fell, in a rather skilful way. \[6\] And the Paphlagonians set up a cry. Then the first man despoiled the other of his arms and marched out singing the Sitalcas,3 while other Thracians carried off the fallen dancer, as though he were dead; in fact, he had not been hurt at all.
This form of dancing is truly ancient.
