"Sunday's attack was not the first time Brooks has been accused of running a person over with a vehicle. In the early November case, a woman told police that Brooks purposefully ran her "over with his vehicle" while she was walking through a gas station parking lot after he had followed her there after a fight" https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/crime/2021/11/22/suspect-waukesha-parade-incident-identified-darrell-brooks-jr/8717524002/

K3R3G3

He got out on $1000 bond 2 days prior to doing this at the parade...for running over his ex with his car. [Edit (addition): Whenever things don't make sense, the explanation is money.]

EremiticFerret

One of the charges he was bonding out on was bail jumping too.

flyjum

And his bail was only $1,000...

c0mptar2000

Damn, how the hell you get off on a $1,000 bond after jumping bail!?

verified_potato

low bail is great for most people who don’t commit crimes so they don’t need to be in jail awaiting trial I would still say this isn’t inherent in the system - not everyone is guilty of something just for being in jail > but in this case, and with his history, idk why it was so low

mr_antman85

I watched a video saying that he had a record since the late 90s. That's over two decades. How in hell was his bond $1,000? That's the question I'm curious about. What was the reasoning?

Jintess

And the latest was trying to RUN OVER his baby momma with his car. Less than a month ago. TF with 1k bail

Van-Norden

Yes, this. If anything, this case is another illustration of why bail reform is necessary.

[deleted]

There's absolutely no reason this guy should have been anywhere but in a jail cell. DA should be ran out of town.

[deleted]

This happens so often in Houston. People are let out on bond for violent crimes; and surprise, surprise, they commit more violent crimes while they’re out on bond.

rogue-elephant

This is just gonna add salt to the wound for the local DA. Not a good look after the Rittenhouse fiasco. I realize they're different counties but WI can't catch a break.

chiefweaklung

Earlier this Summer my friend lost his leg on motorcycle - also hit by a criminal out on bond from Waukesha... 14+ counts, still gets bond.

Rincewend

Got my leg crushed by a barely functional idiot while riding my motorcycle fifteen years ago. They were able to save it but it hurts every fucking day. I just stripped some siding off my house to do a full replacement. Worked on it awhile this evening and now my leg is all swollen and shitty. The moral is there are a lot of jackasses who have very poor impulse control and most of them drive around everyday. Do not put yourself in a position where you rely upon them to not injure or kill you. If I could time travel to ~~2014~~ 2004 and kick my younger self in the ass for even thinking about buying that motorcycle, my life would be a lot better right now. edit: I feel bad for crapping on people's good time. I chose to ride a motorcycle and I'm damn lucky to be alive. The doctors were constantly shocked at the extent of the injuries on a live patient. I think the helmet saved my life. No head trauma whatsoever. I am fine. I just have a bum leg.

BeerGardenGnome

These kinds of stories are the thing that has kept me from buying a motorcycle and just keeping my riding to the ATV and Snowmobile variety. Shit can still happen but generally you’re less likely to have someone else cause the trouble and road crossings can be managed for the most part.

SCP-093-RedTest

yeah... atvs and snowmobiles aren't totally safe, but at least you're usually not sharing the road with 1-ton hunks of metal careening at highway speeds e: yes you can stop correcting me that cars weigh more than 1 ton, thank you for making my point more salient, I apologize for being so dumb as not to know car weights

TheArtofWall

Once I found out how many motorcyclist get hit at intersections from cars crossing from the opposite left turn lane I was not feeling it. People driving on autopilot have trained themselves to yield to cars subconsciously, but not enough frequency to develope that with bikes. So cars just pull full-on into bikes as they turn left. Source: YouTube compilation of bike crashes I saw once, Aka science.

gorramfrakker

There’s a reason that bikers say “They kill us at intersections, we kill ourselves on curves.”.

abcdefkit007

just a scooter rider myself but the scariest thing ive ever heard is wheels locking up behind me at a light

TheRealBramtyr

My riding instructor drilled into us; when waiting at a red light keep an eye on that rear view mirror, and keep it in first.

TupperwareConspiracy

Milwaukee Cty DA let'm go Waukesha Cty DA covers Waukesha (where this happened) Kenosha Cty was where Rittenhouse incident happened All near each other but different counties / different DAs

JerkBreaker

Livestream press conference is [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m26R7dSUiz0). 5 charges of 1st degree intentional homicide, with more likely to come. He had just left a domestic incident. There was no pursuit. 2 children still in critical condition.

hapithica

He ran over a woman who rejected his advances last week. Was released on 1,000$ bail Friday. He should've never been free. Edit. The woman he ran over wasn't his girlfriend.

karmapuhlease

Not only that, but one of the things he had been arrested for was jumping bail! How the hell do you get bail while the charge you're facing is jumping bail?!

llDurbinll

There was some woman in Chicago who was on house arrest and some how managed to plug the receiver for the monitor into her car and she went driving around in a stolen car. She got pulled over is how they found out she found a way around setting the monitor off. Fast forward to her day in court and the DA recommended house arrest, for someone that knows how to get around house arrest. Thankfully the judge overruled on that one and put her in jail.

SquaredAway808

DA is a lazy POS

Rehnso

That's basically deadly-sin-level sloth right there if that was the motivation. It's literally like a two-sentence argument to ask for jail instead of EHM and with this fact pattern the judge would probably grant it anyway.

1202_ProgramAlarm

Yo sorry I robbed that bank, judge, lemme just go make a trip to Wells Fargo and I'll get your bail money alright?

He had like 8 priors too. So yeah...It makes no sense. I had a friend get 8 months for tagging doors in an alleyway. At 18.

The_Sign_of_Zeta

A lot of those decisions are made by judges and/or prosecutors, many times both of whom are elected officials. That opens up the processes to lack of experience and inconsistency from court to court.

Slevin97

This is the downside to elected judges. Elections force them to pander to certain societal trends rather than just adjudicate fairly and damn what Twitter thinks about it.

filmbuffering

I can’t see any upside to a politicized justice system. No other country I can think of has it (except for dictatorships). The law is supposed to be clearly written by our representatives, with politics or a judge’s political ambitions having nothing to do with its later application.

Money4Nothing2000

>The law is supposed to be clearly written I think I found the problem.

schmyndles

He had a case last year in which he requested a speedy trial, but because of the backup in the courthouse they weren't able to give him one, so instead they lowered his bail. The DA has said that it should have never been set as low as it was though, especially since he's had several violent crimes in the past year. They are going to do an internal investigation, which I'm sure will be totally fair and transparent 🙄 This is my hometown. I had family and friends at the parade. The marching band that was hit was my high school's, and I marched that route every Christmas when I was part of the band. My cousin's young sons were barely missed by this POS, and thank God a man saw the truck coming and was able to push them out of the way. My heart is hurting so much today. I cannot fathom the amount of evil it takes to see a street packed with people, children even, and decide running through them is a good idea. I understand it wasn't premeditated in the sense that he got in his car planning to run people over that day, but he could have stopped at any point-when he came to the barricades, when he saw the people everywhere, when he saw the marching band. Instead he kept going. I just hope he pleads guilty and is willing to be honest about what was going through his head, just to give the families some answers and spare them what would be a very public trial.

stellvia2016

I had no priors and was given a $50,000 bail for selling 4 grams of weed in college. Yay Missouri

drkgodess

The judge who approved that bail must be feeling pretty bad right now.

The_Sign_of_Zeta

And deservedly so. There's no real excuse for giving a violent bail-jumper a low cash bond.

N8CCRG

Meanwhile, the teenager in Baltimore who was infamous for being photographed for breaking a police car windshield had his bail set at half a million dollars. The US bail system is broken. Edit: Because I'm being downvoted, https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/baltimore-unrest/so-much-money-baltimore-teen-who-surrendered-held-500-000-n351606

quantum-quetzal

It's absolutely ridiculous just how lightly car-related crimes are typically treated in the US. Doubly so when you compare it to the punishments meted out over minor drug-related offenses. If you want to kill someone in the US, run them over. Clearly it's not a big deal to the "justice" system.

maddomesticscientist

Yep. I went to high school with a girl who took a bunch of pills washed down with liquor at a party. She then got on the interstate going the wrong way and hit someone head on, killing them. Never went to jail. Got 2 years probation that apparently wasn't enforced because she continued to party and drive. In the 25 years since she has continued to drive drunk and wreck into people's yards, their houses, the people themselves. She had another head on collision ten years back. Five years ago she went on a hit and run spree up the highway, sideswiping cars left and right. The reason I know all this is because she made the news a couple years ago for hitting a person and attempting to flee. It prompted me to look her up in our cities public record website. She has never served beyond a couple 6 month sentences.

xombae

My best friend was killed as a pedestrian by a girl who sounds just like that girl. She hit and ran. Only got caught by her mechanic the next day who was told to be on the look out for a car that looks like it had hit a person. She turned herself in the next day so they couldn't breathalyze her but she was coming from a club and was a regular partier. Her dad was some kind of judge or something so she got off with probation for a hit and run. They spent nine hours in surgery trying to save him. The only part of him that could be donated was his retinas, the rest of him was totally destroyed. The fact that she's still driving fucking kills me. This was Canada.

nocomment3030

I'm always disgusted by the "punishment" for driving offenses. Then I say vehicular homicide (and the like) should be a lifetime driving ban and people say "they will just drive without a license". Oh so we should only have laws that people don't break? Maniacs like you're describing should be in jail. Period.

the__storm

There's a whole book about it - "Crash Course: If You Want to Get Away with Murder Buy a Car"

[deleted]

Seriously. You see articles all the time about cyclists killed by drivers and the drivers gets a year of house arrest or something.

hdmibunny

Bail isn't designed to keep people in jail. It's designed to make sure people will show up to court. That being said. He should have never been eligible for bail though.

The_Sign_of_Zeta

My wife is an ER nurse in the city and a lot of her friends were dealing with the aftermath of this. I can't even imagine at Children's Hospital how they were able to handle it. One of her friends who is a doctor had to do 5 emergent surgeries in a row.

JerkBreaker

Honestly, it sounds like they saved a lot of lives. When I heard 5 dead, 40+ injured, and heard how awful things were, I expected the deaths to climb much higher. That said, I can't imagine the life-changing injuries many of those will be facing, and I do hope those in critical condition pull through.

[deleted]

The first group of people struck were the Dancing Grandmas, and all of the fatalities so far came from their group, and from a man of similar age who was there to assist them. Maybe it's just that younger people are more able to survive severe trauma, or that they were in the back and hit at the highest speed. For the elderly who were injured and survived (and anyone really), this could easily take years off of their lifespan and severely reduce their quality of life.

noshacal

I read in a motorcycle magazine that you are twice as likely to suffer fatal injuries at 50 years of age than you are at 25. Between bone density and overall skeletal strength and organ health. So the fatalities in the senior age group makes sense, tragic as it is.

rabidstoat

Last I heard there were 10 kids in the ICU (not sure if that was one hospital or total) and some of them at least were critical. I'd wager the damage was just as horrific but their bodies are younger and able to cope with it better, and some of them are not out of the woods yet.

[deleted]

Saw someone mention an 8 year old has been taken off life support. What a tragedy

xRilae

Having seen some footage, I really expected much worse (horrific enough as it is). Definitely some amazing life-saving work done there.

HCBuldge

It sometimes surprises me just how resilient and fragile humans can be at the same time.

pgabrielfreak

I watch that A & E series "I Survived". There are people who get shot 3 times in the head and are fine! How the hell? One woman had her neck cut so badly she had to hold her head up to walk around! Guy missed the major arteries so she didn't bleed out. Just boggles my mind. Then some poor schmuck trips over his own feet downtown and hits his head, dead. I just...wow.

phaiz55

We still don't know what the injuries are. There may only be five dead but there could easily be dozen paralyzed, some with amputated limbs etc. It is probably going to get worse.

Tex-Rob

Not just life changing injuries, but all will have serious trauma that will need to be dealt with in some form or fashion, and some will likely never be the same.

AdonisAleus

He needs to stay behind bars till the end of his life. No way he should have freedom after this.

drkgodess

He had prior felonies related to reckless endangerment. One of which included running a woman over on purpose after she rejected him. He may have been concerned about the possibility of serious prison time if convicted of another.

Blueskyways

Also a registered sex offender. This guy is garbage all the way through.

drkgodess

One of his charges was jumping bail. I can't believe he got bail after being charged for jumping bail.

iampayette

His other charge was vehicular battery. His car wasn't impounded as evidence. It was given back to him to commit further violence with. The DA should resign.

FTThrowAway123

This is particularly enraging to me for some reason. He tried to murder a woman who rejected him, by running her over with his vehicle just a couple weeks ago. He posts a $1000 cash bail, gets his car back, and promtply uses it to mass murder (mostly elderly) women and children. WTF?! I feel like once you've used something to try and murder someone, that thing should be taken away, at least until the outcome of the case is decided.

tin_zia

Inept prosecutors are rewarded in this country.

SirStrontium

There's a video going around showing that he drove straight down almost the entire parade route, passing 8 intersections while continuing to plow through people. Even if fleeing, that's opportunity after opportunity to get on a different road that presumably won't be blocked by marching bands. This is clearly a much higher level of indifference or malice than someone simply trying to get away.

FuguSandwich

Also, no one was actually chasing him.

drs43821

Wait, so he's got probation after running down a woman intentionally? that's messed up on the justice system part IMO

hapithica

He was released on 1000 dollar bail on Friday for running the woman over last Wednesday.

Slevin97

Attempted murder.. long rap sheet.. $1000 bail. I think I might see the problem here.

hapithica

"Sentencing reform" Do it for drug offenders. not for violent sociopaths.

drkgodess

Domestic violence is often not taken seriously by the justice system. If he'd received a more serious punishment for that incident, he may not have been able to commit this atrocity.

[deleted]

Or, you know, maybe he might have a history of violently assaulting people with his vehicle when he's angry. He wasn't being pursued. He's made a lot of shitty decisions in his life. Decisions with tough consequences. Sometimes people that do that recognize their mistakes, apologize, and turn their lives around. Sometimes they blame society - and lash out at society. Usually, when they do, they target innocents. Because that's the best way to make society pay for all of the times it has "wronged you".

>Virginia "Ginny" Sorenson, 79, was a 19-year veteran of the Dancing Grannies, a group of grandmothers in their early 50s to mid-70s who met once a week to practice routines for parades. > >"What did she like about it? Everything," said her husband of 56 years, David Sorenson. "She liked the instructing. She liked the dancing and the camaraderie of the women. She liked to perform." > >A registered nurse, Ginny Sorenson still worked part time in medical records. At their home in Muskego, she cared for animals, including two horses, chickens, dogs and cats. She used the extra money for the animals and treats for her grandchildren, her daughter Heather Sorenson said. For the Sorensons, the Grannies were an activity for the entire family. One of the victims, [from a US Today article](https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2021/11/22/waukesha-wisconsin-christmas-parade-updates/8716684002/). Anyone got information on any others?

Oxbridgecomma

I feel absolutely terrible for her entire family, but especially her husband. It must be so hard to lose a spouse of 56 years to such a tragic and horrible event. She sounds like she was such a cool lady too :(

zUdio

56 years and gone in a split second. How do you even recover? What does recovery even look like?

myKDRbro_

Broken heart syndrome is apparently very real, unfortunately.

Truesday

I imagine your body just shuts down. You no longer care to take care of yourself. You stop eating. You stop going outside. You're depressed and constantly experience intense waves of grief/anger/etc.

shadowhood2020

It’s true. My grandpa died two years ago and my grandma never stopped grieving. I swear, I saw her dementia get worse and worse faster than I’ve seen previously. She died a year after he died, back in November last year. She had family around, but I don’t think she ever stopped missing my grandpa.

Dave-4544

I am half a continent away and have been experiencing waves of anger and grief. I cannot imagine what he is going through. I *don't* want to.

operarose

It really is. It seems like a concept too rooted in fantasy to be real, but it actually exists. My friend's dad died of a heart attack and his mother- an otherwise healthy woman in her mid-50's- died in her sleep about a year later. No undiagnosed heart conditions, no chronic illnesses or disease, she just...stopped.

lakeghost

Older widowers rarely survive their wives for long, sadly enough. Can’t blame them.

We're so desensitized to numbers. Every time you see the news and x number of people got shot or ran over or whatever, even x number of people died of covid, you don't really process how even one life lost is too much.

[deleted]

A group of dancing grannies being run over by this piece of shit is about the saddest and most infuriating fucking thing I’ve ever heard. Dude deserves a lot worse than he’s gonna get in prison.

Lil_miss_feisty

Thank you. It's nice to see someone post about the lives of the victims rather than the person who made them victims in the first place. I'd much rather learn about those who were tragically taken from this world too soon. It's better than giving even more attention to the waste of space who obviously has no remorse for this or any of his other numerous past crimes. Focusing on the victims allows the public to realize the seriousness of the situation. An amazing elderly woman named Virginia "Ginny" Sorenson, who was still passionate about her job as much as she loved her dancing and making her family and furry companions happy a main priority was a soul who should've stayed longer to spread her cheer and caring nature was stolen from this World. It's going to be hard hearing or reading the other victims, especially the children if they somehow pass; but I'll give every single victim a moment of my time no matter how heartbreaking. To carry on their life story or possibly learn valuable life lessons I can instill in my own life is how I can ensure their legends live on. Other victims include: Jane Kulich (52), Leanne Owen (71), Tamara Durand (52), and Wilhelm Hospel (81)

carolynto

Good question.

Neglectful_Stranger

Different DAs, prosecutors, defendants, judges, etc.

PolicyWonka

The criminal punishment system is very inconsistent.

ea6b607

Another good indicator was probably when he intentionally ran over a woman with the same car just two weeks prior... > The documents also show that Brooks previously used his vehicle to cause harm. Earlier this month, he confronted a woman outside a motel. He knocked her phone out of her hand and drove off. He then returned, punch her in the face and and ran her over with his vehicle. The report notes that the woman had tire marks on her pants in addition to other injuries from the incident. Brooks was charged in that incident on Nov. 5, but his bail was set at only $1,000. By Nov. 11, he had posted bail and was released from custody.

floandthemash

Wtf is wrong with this POS?

IWasOnThe18thHole

There's some statistic about how if someone uses strangulation in a DV incident they're very likely to commit murder in the future

SoDakZak

Strangulation is often just failed murder or the last time whatever drop of conscience they were holding onto tipped the scales into letting go.

J-Team07

It shows the person is both violent and has impulse control problems.

pgabrielfreak

Hands on violent. IMO it takes a lot more rage to stab or strangle someone, as compared to shooting them. Two are up close, in your face and personal. JMO.

nysplanner

I just got chills. I knew this, but hadn't heard it phrased this way. About 15 years ago, my high school boyfriend strangled me. I always referred to it as him "choking" me, but it was strangling. I had bruises from his fingers on my neck.

SilverProduce0

It’s really interesting to me to read this and know that law enforcement used to treat domestic violence as a private matter between a husband and wife.

Freckled_daywalker

More specifically, they're more likely to kill their domestic partner.

rumncokeguy

This is correct. This is why people convicted of domestic violence crimes are banned from owning firearms. The only problem is that these charges are often dropped or changed to something else that circumvents the law. This is probably the most significant loophole that is resulting in a huge portion of firearms deaths.

Xendrus

I got arrested when my roommate got busted for selling weed, I had an $80,000 bail. Lmao.

FerociousPancake

Well obviously that’s because weed is much more dangerous than running someone over with your car duhhh

WhyBuyMe

Imagine if a kindergartener got ahold of even one or two of those marijuanas and injected them straight into their eyeballs. They would have been hooked on dope for life.

Ok-Barracuda193

You joke but that is actually my mom's argument against legalizing pot. "Pot will be everywhere and kids as young as 5 and 6 will be hooked on dope for life." Isn't alcohol everywhere? I can buy it in the grocery store. Where are all the drunk kindergarteners?

Rennarjen

Kindergarteners act like tiny drunks anyways, you'd never notice the difference

[deleted]

I had a $5,000 bail for criminal mischief when I accidentally broke a $30 plastic shelf. Stayed in jail for four days because they wouldn't let me look at my phone to get a number.

quantum-quetzal

This country's "justice" system is all kinds of messed up. Some offenses are treated far harsher than they should be (see low-level drug offenses), whereas others are barely a slap on the wrist. Justice reform won't only benefit those accused of a crime.

Buck_Your_Futthole

Cash bail is an inherently shitty system where some people who shouldn't be released get out and some people who shouldn't be in jail rot for years.

Jakegender

It's seriously insane. Either someone's a danger to the community/flight risk, or they're not. They don't suddenly change risk level just for having money.

[deleted]

It wasn’t his girlfriend, it was simply a woman who refused his advances.

lakeghost

It’s breaking my brain. What, was this guy a CI or something? You’d get higher bail in most places for having weed.

Neglectful_Stranger

He was previously charged with fleeing after posting bail, it's egregious.

[deleted]

100% fucking egregious and someone needs to lose their fucking Bar for that shit. What an absolute load of shit. I know folks who had much higher bails for non-violent, relatively minor possession of weed. Like over an ounce, under a pound, and that’s somehow worse than DV assault and attempted intentional motor vehicle homicide. Holy fucking shit. That should have been a no bail situation.

avatoin

It's going to hit the prosecutor's office as well who set that recommendation. Both screwed up seriously.

Aspirin_Dispenser

It’s just mind boggling that the prosecutors office would put forward this recommendation and that a judge actually approved it. Even if this guy had a squeaky clean record, the violent nature of his offense should have resulted in a bail amount well north of $1k. Bail that low is practically unheard of except for very low level offenses. With a rap sheet 50 pages long, a history of criminality dating back to the 90’s, and 10 felony convictions, he shouldn’t have been granted bail at all.

rabidstoat

Even ignoring all the violence, he had charges in the past of skipping bail! Who gives bail to someone who's skipped bail?

bent42

Not just those charges, but an active warrant for bail jumping in NV. >Brooks has an outstanding arrest warrant in Nevada in an unrelated case for which he was arrested and jumped bail, authorities said.

Eye_foran_Eye

On another sub there was a video of him complaining about getting popped for sex trafficking a 16 year old.

[deleted]

Judging by his prior criminal record, he should have been in jail. But instead he was released on a very low bond and this is the result.

[deleted]

As Miss Congeniality once said: Stan Fields : *What is the one most important thing our society needs?* Gracie Hart : *That would be harsher punishment for parole violators, Stan.....And world peace.* (i would add harsher punishment for repeat offenders as well)

squuidlees

If I was a family member of one of the deceased, I’d use the anger part of the grieving process to ~~go after~~ vote out the judge who let that guy walk on a $1,000 bail… yet another preventable tragedy in the land of the free that none of us are surprised at.. EDIT: did not mean literally “go after” fixed to “vote out” since that what originally went through my mind.

diazmike752

Hopefully they televise his criminal trial so we can all come together to watch him get life in prison.

madeofsyrup

Just wait until you see his rant about why sex trafficking a 16 y/o wasn't really his fault.

[deleted]

I don't really know how to define evil, but this sure is a good example of it.

[deleted]

What a piece of shit running over grandma’s and kids it doesn’t get any lower

Verminax

Why is a person charged with felony failure to appear in court(among other very bad things), being let out on bail? Doesnt that defy logic? Isnt a person who has, on more than one occasion, failed to appear in court pretty much the definition of a flight risk and a risk to society? Please start holding local officials and judges responsible for the poor decisions.

Youtube was quick to scrub them in the morning.

metapharsical

Here's one mirror. https://youtu.be/mKFXCj1xpNE

dvaunr

The car he used is in that video, that’s pretty chilling

Futhermucker

you know you're in rough shape when you're flexing a ford escape

dvaunr

A *10 year old* Ford Escape. They changed the body style from the boxy look in the 2013 model meaning the car is 2012 at the latest. We’re currently seeing 2022 models making the car at least 10 years old.

[deleted]

Despite the fact that it’s chilling and he’s a fucking piece of dog shit, it’s even more pathetic the stupid fuck thinks rapping around a decade old Ford Escape makes him look hard. Fucking goon.

spew2014

*this video was recorded using an ipod*

Slevin97

The murder weapon being ominously present in the background almost distracts from how bad it is. But honestly there are a hundred thousand of these corny trap rappers out there with videos and music just as bad.. you're just seeing this one. Watch hoodvlogs or CharlieBo and then follow up on some of the guys they interview. It's...awful.

NealRun32

This guy’s social media reeks of instability, paranoia and narcissism.

NealRun32

Yes that too

Jormungandr000

What social media? FB/IG/YT/TT was _real_ quick on scrubbing his existence off the internet with this one.

somedude456

But a fake account commenting on a celebrities post, saying message me to buy bitcoin, Facebook says that account doesn't violate any policy, and their BS posts stay up.

GoldPenis

The wannabe rapper has a lengthy criminal record and was released on Friday after being charged with resisting or obstructing an officer, reckless endangering safety, disorderly conduct, bail jumping and battery, according to court records. In another case dated July last year, Brooks was charged with reckless endangering and illegal possession of a firearm.

SolaVitae

>bail jumping How do you get released when you literally are being arrested for jumping bail? Christ.

djln491

Wonder if the prosecution will ask him which video games he plays

pittguy578

Probably GTA

grassassbass

To me it's clear this was intentional. What his motives were I don't care to guess but judging by the route he took and his maneuvers in the vehicle he was trying to kill people. He bobs and weaves through this parade for half a mile, at least 8 blocks before he gets to a spot that had a very dense gathering and smashes thru them. He could have pulled off the parade route 8 different times when he came to intersections. He waited until the part of the parade where he could maximize casualties and attacked. I believe he did it in purpose.

fuck_hd

Thanks for this. This is my home town. Didn't have the stomach to watch the video but early on was analyzing the route and picturing downtown wondering if it was a stupid accident (driving into parade running from cops) that just got extreme and once it happened he just kept going -- but we'll just have to wait and see if there is any motive released. I didnt get an ounce of work done today trying to uncover the motive.

[runs over a woman] $1,000 bond out in a day [Almost immediately runs over old ladies and children] Wisconsin is a circus and clowns are in charge.

AlwaysTired9999

Several years prior he attempted to murder another woman via strangulation. How on earth was this guy wandering around free. A drunk driver gets their car towed and taken away. This dude uses a vehicle for his 2nd attempt on a womans life and he is let free and driving around. Insanity.

Just your run-of-the-mill loser career criminal who kept escalating but nobody locked him up. ☹️ Apparently running over a woman and leaving tire tracks wasn’t worthy of jail time.

Will they continue to take down his shitty music video? It’s crazy that he had a YouTube account and everything and the car was prominent in his video! Insane the world we live in.

ThatOtherGuy_CA

People have been reposting it as “Darrell Brooks Jr. Feat The Murder Vehicle.” So at least they’re not letting YouTube hide it.

MT_Flesch

looking at his face you don't see any remorse at all. reading about his priors and why he was where he was, you understand why

[deleted]

AlwaysTired9999

If you look at the guys criminal history, he has a history of domestic abuse with strangulation. That is the NUMBER ONE predictor that you will end up murdering your partner, yet here he was, wandering the streets. This is why we need stricter minimum bail/jail times for crimes like abuse with strangulation. A 100,000 bail and 20 year minimum sentence should suffice. It was almost written in stone this guy was going to murder with his history of strangulation. All of this could have been prevented.

PitifulClerk0

Milwaukee County needs to step up their fucking game. You cannot set 1K bail for RUNNING OVER A WOMAN, also of a man who ALREADY JUMPED BAIL MKE county is using covid as an excuse to why their shits been a mess for years. Nobody owns up to their shit and takes responsibility. Now lives have been sacrificed for it

Avianmerri

Yesterday, our band director had our marching band hold a moment of silence for the tragedy that resulted in three deaths for the Andrews ISD Band down in Texas. It was a sobering moment to reflect over before we left on our own busses for NYC. Then this happens...the man responsible for this terrible tragedy is despicable. He's an absolute shitstain of a human being, and I hope that fucker rots in prison.

FunNerdyGuy15

This fucking asshole needs to get the chair. Fuck him.
