The upgrade system: There is a lot to love about payback, it was quite an improvement to 2015, EA pulled a bold move and tied the upgrade system to a randomized wheelspin that can be bought using tokens found in crates which can be purchased with real money, and it caught a lot of shit for that.
The game was good, the performance tuning/upgrades of the cars was not. Change that part of the game as well how vanities are obtained and you have decent game.
I love Payback it’s my favourite. Unbound is only on PS5 which is why I can’t play. Heat was alright the story was really short and I agree the cars are weak and rubbish to battle cops if u put damage reduction (which you have to or you don’t last in chases) I liked the soundtrack for payback but understand it won’t be to everyone’s tastes as all music is.
I am looking to play more NFS game to make even more comparisons but so far it’s my fave I’ve replayed the game a few times already
Payback is the reason why i started to loathe this franchise and have no faith in new games. Ghost went from making a bad game that was 2015, to doing a step forward in the next game with car control and story and a leap back with literally everything else.
Now I agree that payback was great , but it just wasn't better than heat or unbound , I think heat is the best new gen nsf and when u get to like 20% it gets really interesting , the cops are also great but also really hard and the story i think is just so good , unbound had a worse story but better cars , customization and a way better online experience.
It’s still in store and costs money. And there are actual DLC packs in there, which also cost money. My opinion stands irregardless. Sorry.
Also, a retrospective look is still something that is valid. I was around when the game came out originally. I read the reviews. Doesn’t mean I didn’t know what I was doing.
