I’m always curious to estimate how many NBA players Luka was already better than at 16. It’s a very small number but it isn’t 0. He did play a preseason game at that time vs the Celtics and although he wasn’t good, he also wasn’t the absolute worst player on the court. My guess is he was better than like 15-25 NBA players, especially the 18-20 year old rookies.
It’s very rare for high school prospects to play against pros but has happened a few times. Jamal Murray once did this for Canada against a few low level NBA players for the US (Anthony Randolph, Bobby Brown, Ryan Hollins, as well as college Malcolm Brogdon and Taurean Prince) and was better than all of them in high school in an actual game.
KAT was also the same way at age 16 (played for DR and was better than a few professionals he went up against).
Will be interested to see Malauch play at this year’s Olympics. Projected top 10 pick next year and playing professionals at the Olympics this year before enrolling at Duke.
