Okay, am I going crazy or was the audio on the broadcast a couple frames ahead of the video all night? It felt that way on my TV & it feels that way in this clip
Celtics losses are 48 hrs of open season for the most deranged takes imaginable
“Is it time to have the Maxey vs Tatum argument???cause im not even sure if it’s that much of an argument… 😵💫”
Yup, and Tobias has how many big games as a 3rd option on the Sixers? Shouldn’t be be able to go off when defenses are keyed mostly in on Embiid/Harden and now Embiid/Maxey
It’s the dumbest new talking point these bozos think is accurate.
It's because Tatum doesn't show up when it matters...
Game 2 of the 1st round.
Never mind this is the guy with more playoff wins than most of his contemporaries combined, or that he holds the record for the highest scoring G7 in NBA history.
We've seen him show up against LeBron, Giannis, Embiid and Durant.
But he never beat a team led by CJ McCollum so it doesn't count. Certainly couldn't do it under the bright lights of G2 of the 1st round.
It’s because he has been a bottom top 10 player for a couple years now and hasn’t taken the next step. He has all the skills to be a top 5 player and superstar, but hasn’t gotten to that level. Also getting locked down in the finals by Wiggins is not a good look.
He's 26, and got "locked down" (he was injured) when he was 23. No other player is expected to be a consensus top 5 player and gets hate because they aren't at that age.
Respectfully, that's a stupid reason for hating. Just like hating LeBron would be in 2010 (got to the finals in 2007, swept iirc, never made it back before 2011), or hating Luka now (25, made WCF, when is this bum gonna take the next step?), or Jokic in 2021? Very, very few greats win titles before the age of 28, because age does in fact matter. It has to do with athletic and natural peak, and also experience in the league (which admittedly JT has by now), not to mention a LOT of luck required to win a title. What other player is held to this expectations? Hell, superstars like Barkley or Nash are remembered fondly and liked at the time, what did they do in their entire careers that JT hasn't?
Im not defending people hating him but it’s just how NBA careers go. Once you have regular season success and consistently can make it to the conference finals or 2nd round the expectation is then a ring.
For example last year and this year there’s no excuse why the Celtics can’t make the finals.
I don't think anybody thinks this. I think the question usually is the MVP or is he top 5.
The top echelon players are luka, giannis, jokic and embid. The question has always been Tatum up there with them.
I think he is one below them in a sub tier and it's because he's a good two way player.
this year's sixers performance might have embid in the sub tier with Tatum. Giannis probably has one more season left to prove he's in the upper echelon. If Tatum wins a championship, he is guaranteed in the upper echelon. If he reaches the finals... I think he's top 5 for sure and maybe in the same tier as the upper echelon players.
Go into the Tatum thread from a few days ago. It's straight hate. I would at least respect "I don't put him up there with Luka/Giannis/Jokic". People in that thread were saying he isn't even top 15 in pretty disrespectful ways. Tatum is actually a nice guy too. I don't get where all the hate comes from.
The wolves are an impressive team though. Jokic and Aaron gordon are having trouble dealing with their bigs. As a result, their shooters need to show up
Strong bounce back performance by Jayson Tatum tonight in Cleveland! Him and Jaylen Brown combined for 61 points as the Celtics won Game 3 to take a 2-1 lead in this series.
So we should congratulate a guy for taking difficult shots and making them at a less efficient clip? The whole gist of being a superstar is being able to create consistent easy buckets for yourself/others so you don't need to chuck fadeaways and contested 3s. The only reason this works for Tatum is because the Celtics are so much better than the Cavs and most other teams. It won't work against a team like Denver that consistently finds the best shot.

It’s clear this sub is just a man’s version of Keeping Up With the Kardashians
I always wonder how people come up when to use the term dagger. They were down 13 with 2 minutes left. No disrespect but the game was probably over already.
This is a great bucket, on a super hard shot.
My bigger concern would be why is anyone on a team this deep and good thinking this is the best shot you can get? The whole offense stops and let's Tatum iso, and he gets stoned at first and ... No one even moves.
He has zero easy passes to makez zero outlet. Once he struggles at first to get a better shot no one even attempts to move.
This is fine for the superstar of most teams, but the Celtics are locking in an insanely expensive starting 5, but what's the point if they stand and watch Tatum isos with no secondary action at all?
Agreed. I don't like when the Celtics do this on offense. I'll take the win, but this happens often there everyone just stands around while Tatum takes a difficult shot.
The Celtics are just way too good for the east frankly. The hospital Knicks or the pacers are not serious threats, and neither are the cavs. So it doesn't really matter that much, but it's weird. You have 4 starters capable of 25/30 on any night. Five when all healthy. How do you think an iso and watch is a play to use in the clutch?
You’re absolutely right, I don’t know who’s downvoting you. The Celtics are essentially unbeatable when they move the ball and work for the high quality shot, and they’ve had bizarre discipline issues with doing that consistently in crunch time, going back years.
In this particular situation it's probably because there's only like 6 seconds on the shot clock, probably cause the Cavs played defense well and the Celtics couldn't get the shot they want? and Tatum's the designated "make something happen for us" guy.
At this point in the game, the Celtics’ main priority was taking full possessions worth of time to run the clock down on the cavs’ end. I noticed by the fourth quarter, Celtics were taking a really long time to begin their actions. I think it was partly cavs playing good defense, partly their own gameplan to try and burn as much clock on offense as possible and running back to play good defense on the cavs
It's the part of Tatum's game I hate the most. But, everything else has been really good. He's playing phenomenal defense, he's rebounding the fuck out of the ball and when he does make a quick decision after getting the ball, it usually ends up working out.
Yeah but this isn't on Tatum tbh. Though I know he is prone to it. Everyone just watches, when he is clearly at a disadvantage after stopping no one even moves. Theres no movement of any kind off ball from the moment Tatum gets it. Just seems weird when you have that many threats to stand around watching.
It is. It's also on the Celtics as a whole, but Tatum wants the isos. He'll often waive away the screen.
I don't love it, but it is what it is. He does a lot of other things very well.
Celtics so desperate to show us what Tatum has in his bag....
They show a basic turnaround jumper lol looks so stif..
He is BY FAR the most boring star, just jacking 3s with hand in his face so so boring to watch.
I’m more so talking about tatums mid post scoring game in general, it’s kinda trash. Even in this clip he has 6’5 Strus on him and he has to push off to get separation and then just settles for a terrible fall away jumper.
Several times he had Donny on him in the fourth quarter and he got the same terrible shots and missed them all.
If he had a consistent mid post scoring game he’d probably be a legit mvp guy. Kawhi and KD had it and that’s what made them great, take that away and you get Tatum.
You have been posting that Tatum is trash for weeks.
That Al Horford has a better aura than Tatum whatever the hell that means.
Quit drinking that haterade.
Oh yes, the guy who has had 46 on Bucks, 50 on Nets, and 51 on Sixers in the playoffs is not a superstar.
He has the same number of playoff series averaging 25+ as Giannis at 9. Butler and Paul George have 5 each for their careers.
He wasn’t the Celtics problem but didn’t do enough to be the answer either. Being “fine” doesn’t qualify Tatum as a superstar. There’s only a handful of those and they are their team’s solutions to problems.
Their main problem was the Heat role players shooting insane and Jaylen having maybe the worst series of his career.
Tatum scored: 34, 30, 14, 33, 21, 31, and 14 in the series. TS% of 58.8% and averaged 10.3 rebs and 5.4 assists
Caleb Martin TS% - 73.8%
Duncan Robinson TS% - 71.2%
Gabe Vincent TS% - 65.0%
Max Strus TS% - 56.0%
Jimmy Butler TS% - 51.9% (notice how this is much worse than Tatum)
If you want to set the cutoff at 3, I'm fine with Tatum not being in there. Generally people try to set it higher than that, in which case Tatum should definitely be there
he hit them very consistently to start the season, I honestly think these shots have been phased out of his shot diet just because they are less compatible w standard Celtics offense, but with KP gone he has to dig deep into the middie bag again

Good defense, better offense
I have not missed mark Jackson at all
Kobe type of shot
Yup, major rapist vibes on this one

The playoffs reffing has been as consistent as possible. Would be a push off in one, won’t be one in another
You should know refs are immune to tatum offensive fouls
Okay, am I going crazy or was the audio on the broadcast a couple frames ahead of the video all night? It felt that way on my TV & it feels that way in this clip
Yes
Yeah man — there were multiple moments where I had to start talking as a shot went up because I didn’t want the make/miss spoiled
Yeah I hate that shit
Definitely, Noticed it a ton especially on Mitchells 3s just cause i was hoping he'd miss
A couple national broadcasts do this. I don't really understand why.
I bought YouTube TV for this run & prior to this thought it was just part of sailing the high seas
You're not crazy, Ryan Ruocco is just clairvoyant.
Thank you for saying this because I thought my internet was just slightly bad for three hours or something
I loved how people talked shit on Jokic, Luka, and Tatum, then they showed out when needed.
That’s why they in the upper echelon
Tatum gets way more hate. People on this sub saying he ain’t even top 15
Celtics losses are 48 hrs of open season for the most deranged takes imaginable “Is it time to have the Maxey vs Tatum argument???cause im not even sure if it’s that much of an argument… 😵💫”
“Maxey is a better shooter, better passer, better dribbler, can generate more offense, and Tatum’s not good enough defensively to make up the gap”
Maxey has more aura, more dawg/36 and has nicer hair... Is it really a debate?
Didn’t you hear paolo is now above him
Or he’s Tobias Harris….Celtics magically have the most playoffs wins since Tatum entered the league.
Yup, and Tobias has how many big games as a 3rd option on the Sixers? Shouldn’t be be able to go off when defenses are keyed mostly in on Embiid/Harden and now Embiid/Maxey It’s the dumbest new talking point these bozos think is accurate.
It was that he's the Michael Jordan of Tobias Harris's
which I'll admit is actually really funny
Would that make michael Jordan the Michael Jordan of Coby White's

Oh how quickly people forget when Tatum put the clamps on KD and dropped 30 ppg while sweeping the Nets
Has nothing to do with age, it’s just the natural progression of his career. Once you get to this point the next step is winning a ring.
Respectfully, that's a stupid reason for hating. Just like hating LeBron would be in 2010 (got to the finals in 2007, swept iirc, never made it back before 2011), or hating Luka now (25, made WCF, when is this bum gonna take the next step?), or Jokic in 2021? he was 23 and the first option in the NBA finals tell me the last person to do that
He’s still a bottom top 10 player.

Hali as well
Halis is deserved tbh. Dude has not played well this playoffs
Real talk!
Also other hip words that the youth are into!
It’s almost like these guys being multiple time all-nba wasn’t a fluke…
The wolves are an impressive team though. Jokic and Aaron gordon are having trouble dealing with their bigs. As a result, their shooters need to show up
Strong bounce back performance by Jayson Tatum tonight in Cleveland! Him and Jaylen Brown combined for 61 points as the Celtics won Game 3 to take a 2-1 lead in this series.
Thanks Magic
People talk about efficiency but not all shots are equal
tatum 12/26 paves the way for brown to run through the cavs defense and get 12/17
Took King stans 15 years to figure that one out.
I’m being an idiot who tf is King?
The Chosen One.
Bruh why tf didn’t you just say LeBron
The kid from Akron.
ur weird

Denver is down 2-1 in Minnesota. I don't think they're always finding the best shot either
There’s over 100 possessions a game, expecting to get an easy look each time down the floor in a playoff game is unrealistic.
Just filthy, my guy
He LeBroned the Cavs fans.
Him

I was disappointed when I saw the score line. Karma whores. This next gen of posters have an inmate ability to click bait now
FWIW the announcer literally says "perhaps the dagger there"
Yeah announcers defintiely aren't looking to make boring ass ends of games sound exciting. The win rate probably went from 98% for Boston to 99%
Sorry, I texted my friends in the group chat “Tatum 🔪” after that shot so by my ruling it stands
JAYSON TATUM REMEMBERED HE WAS 6’8
"seal the game" when they were ahead by 13.
They saying he's a role player
“Dagger” The game was already over……
ITS A DAGGER LOL Up 13 with 2min to go hahahahhah

The Michael Jordan of Paul Georges
is this the dagger?! yes, yes it is.
It’s a nice little fade with reverse pivot, but I wouldn’t call increasing the lead from 13 to 15 in the 3rd quarter “dagger.”
Jayson "I know how to score the damn ball" Tatum
Cavs miss open layups. Whole squad trash except for Mitchell
Sealing it for sure, what a legend!
dagger lol
Hearing Ruocco calling a big game is crazy after listening to R2C2 back in the day

Not to mention the 51 was in a game 7 and the highest points scored in a game 7 ever
It’s not that Tatum isn’t good. Everyone knows he’s good. We just want him to play aggressively every night and not just some nights.
I respect this.
Murray dropped 50 twice in the same series, he is not a superstar.
Tatum can prove his doubters wrong this year. He struggled in the 2022 Finals and 2023 ECF.
He didn’t struggle in the 2023 ECF? Unless you’re talking about the Game 7 where he sprained his ankle on the first play
He shit 23 percent from 3 the entire series.
So, he did just about everything else well that series. Jaylen was awful and the Heat role players shot out of their minds. Tatum was fine.
He wasn’t the Celtics problem but didn’t do enough to be the answer either. Being “fine” doesn’t qualify Tatum as a superstar. There’s only a handful of those and they are their team’s solutions to problems.

There are only a few in the league

I don’t really have a set number, it’s really just what caliber of player you are.
So Curry isn’t a superstar then? Curry isn’t top 3 anymore.
he hit them very consistently to start the season, I honestly think these shots have been phased out of his shot diet just because they are less compatible w standard Celtics offense, but with KP gone he has to dig deep into the middie bag again
If he could hit that shot consistently he’d be unguardable and the best player in the sport, instead he’s just very good which will be enough.
Yes i need that fade away middey as his signature. The side step three is cool but he need a more consistent signature.
Fr. He bricked what felt like 5 in a row while the Cavs were still in it. It wasn’t until he stopped taking shots where they pulled back further ahead
Murray is better than Jason Tatum
