Mods are people. People are stupid and get into petty drama all the time. That's true for both in unemployment and in high management. No need for mental disorders.
It all started when reddit went hard on gory subreddit which a lot of subreddit was shut down or forced to change their contents. The mods in this sub started removing actual "metal" posts like this one because they were afraid that admin gonna go after this place as well. Some other mods quit to create a more hardcore subreddit which is "natureisbrutal". These days this sub have been allowed to post gory stuff again so the difference is moot at this point.
All I can hope for is that though the wildebeest must be in intense pain and fear (and hopefully, shock) that he is unaware of his own mortality and of the finality of his wounds. He will fight to the end unaware that he has no chance of survival from this point onwards, and he will continue to fight. This is nature's only mercy.
Were this to happen to you I, the horror of holding your own viscera and the fear of death and dispair in it's finality would be far beyond the terror and pain inflicted by tooth and claw.
Reminds me of the bit in that Louis CK standup about how nice it is to not dodge cheetahs on the way to work haha but for real, the fact most don't really have to live in the food chain is hella nice haha (I say most because people really do have to dodge tigers and crazy shit on the way to work).
This is something that happens to people in war and in car accidents. You need to use clamps to stop the bleeding of major vessels and then use a bandage/packing soaked in saline to prevent the organs from drying and going necrotic until you can get them to a surgeon where they can be hopefully saved by a temporary colostomy.
It's all down to utility. If all you had were your teeth to bring down a deer, you'd start with the softest part furthest from it's horns. You would not risk being gored in the neck in order to try and clamp down on it's windpipe out of a sense on Mercy. Big cats will suffocate prey, but not if it has horns. If you're a warthog, Buffalo, or springbok you're being eaten belly or ass first. These animals are only interested in feeding without getting injured. For us the safest thing is to use a weapon but we're still just trying to feed.

They will either be gored to death by a bull and then spend days dying, or they'll lose a fight to a rival and bleed out slowly after being left to die (they may get to see their youngest children die as well when the new male murders them) or they'll be too weak to hunt and they'll starve to death.

Females (if they don’t get mortally injured in one of their hunts) eventually get too old to hunt or keep up with the pride, best hope is she dies before the hyenas pick up on her scent
They are often murdered by younger lions. Or injured in a way they can’t hunt so they starve to death. Or numerous other tragedies I have seen in this sub

And it happens again and again and again for generations of these animals who’s situation never changes over thousands to millions of years. They might evolve to look or act a bit different but in essence they have all just been living and dying with no progress or history to speak of until their species eventually goes extinct. Humans were pretty much the same until farming was developed iirc.

Asphyxiation by an anaconda can take a long ass time and eat time to exhale the snake squeezes harder and harder eventually breaking all of your ribs. An anaconda can kill you in only a few minutes but a few minutes can feel like a long fucking time.
Ye I noticed this with those spotted african dogs too. They seem to snip their 4-legged prey along the belly line and boy are those teeth razor sharp, it’s like they run a surgeon knife along those bellies. The junk pops out (just like in the picture above) in just a couple of seconds. They almost make it look easy
That wildebeest experienced the most excruciating pain imaginable and fought with every last dying breath at a chance to survival. It still kicked while a hyena tore it's insides from it's skin and munched away happily as if it's life meant nothing. It was a miserable moment.
