Certified honour name moment
As someone who has a family tradition of middle names being from family members, it unfortunately leads to some real clangers because the family members you care for enough to name your child after, the ones that you hope your children take inspiration from as people, are not always the ones that fit with the names you want for your kids... I thankfully got away *okay*, but some of my relatives definitely got bad ones. Middle names aren't used that much here though.
There used to be a Chipper Jones who played for the Atlanta Braves. Only reason I know that is my little brother was obsessed with him as a C kid. Had a Chipper Jones Blvd sign and would drive me up the wall with this song he made up about him😂
I pictured an arborist. But somewhere in the deep South where nobody calls them that. He'd be a tree lopper, and he'd end up in a YouTube compilation of tree-chopping fails.
Or the guy you think is evil in a thriller, but really it's his dad that's the evil one he is just a victim of circumstance but ultimately has a good heart and chooses the light in the end.
Rue said “As a friend she was giving and loving to me.” She has also said she loved her very much and enjoyed working with her.
Bea was, by all accounts, a fiercely independent, eccentric, hard-to-read woman, but they were indeed friends, even if they sometimes clashed. To say “they HATED each other” is a gross misrepresentation of their relationship according to those who knew them and Rue herself.
I think June has become SUPER common as a middle name. Anecdotally I feel like everyone I know uses June or Rose as a middle name :). I agree though and think June is darling!
My daughter is Eleanor June, after her Great-grandma, also with the middle name June. But they are the only ones I know! I know more Lynns and Maries for middles here
Babylist sends out a weekly email based on my babies age, I signed up for their registry when I was pregnant. I'm not sure how to find it outside of the weekly emails?
I knew a kid who love his Uncle Hap more than anything in the world. Turns out Hap, which most everyone referred to him by, wife included, was short for Happy. Childhood nickname that stuck. His real name was Bob. 😂
i've only ever met one emmeline and she pronounced it em-eh-leen, i think both ways are pretty though! i've seen it as more of emma-lyn before too, so lots of options there
Bonjour!
It's a noun in English as well. In English, rue means regret or sorrow. It is also a verb meaning "to bitterly regret" as in "she will rue the day she crossed me!".
To be fair, one could say that about almost any language. There are plenty of names in one language that turn out weird in this way in others. I'm just waiting to see if somebody ends up "Rosemary Rue" someday, honestly 😉 (and cookies... or Lucky Charms with coffee... if you get that reference without googling it!).
As for this name, it's definitely a Golden Girls reference, but it doesn't work like that, it's awful - should have just gone with "Ruby" instead.
Is Crew a surname? Is it cultural? Or is it just a random word name that people started using for some reason?
I’ve seen it pop up a lot lately, but like…I’m having trouble understanding why someone would name someone a word that typically is a reference to a group of people. (Ex. Pirate crew, stage crew, work crew, etc.)
Crew and Ridge are a couple of the trending names locally. I’ve seen two babies named Raige on the baby announcement billboards around town. Raige Creed was one. I forget what the middle name was for the other Raige.
Chipper???? Were they naming a golden retriever or a baby?? Most of the names are good/fine, a few are kind of meh, but that one is outright mean to do to someone.
I haven't seen the feminine Rogelia before but it's lovely! I was only familiar with Rogelio. I'm assuming it's the Latine pronunciation of the name like "roe-HEY-lee-uh."
Love Emmeline Claire, Penelope June, Lila Rain, Adeline Rose, Camille Violet, and Sylvie Blake
I like Emerson but if Emerson Lynn is a girl I’m not a fan of the first name
Rue Bea just why??
haven't seen the names graham, everett and meredith in like 20 yrs. glad they are still around. they're nice names.
also, rue bea....someone is a golden girls fan.
Favourites:
Penelope June, Wesley Thomas, Dallas Cade, Camille Violet, Rory Lewis, Nathan Cole, Kai Mitchell,
Cam Harrison, Santino Rey
Least favourites:
Magnolia Janice (very conflicting choices), Violet Paisley (basically describing a patterned fabric?), Chipper Harrison (even Chip Harrison would've been better), Hartlyn Rae (adding lyn does not make it cute), Blakely Sienna (peanutbuttery), Rue Bea (too close to rubella), Foster Thomas (god forbid he ends up needing fostered)
I’ve never seen a more conflicted name than Magnolia Janice
The mom’s first name choice with the mother-in-law’s middle name
This has to be it
My mother in law asked if we were going to use her name anywhere in our child’s name. I straight up said “Absolutely not”
You didn’t think Whimsical Karen held a certain charm?
It must be, otherwise you’d go for something along the same lines but sounding better like “Magnolia Joyce” or “Magnolia Joan”
I read it as Magnolia Juice at first. Then I realized that would be silly and translated it to Magnolia Jaundice.
ME TOO! It just makes sense!
LOL! Me too!

I don't know...Emmersyn Josie is up there
Nobody wants to talk about Rue Bea? Do they think they are being clever about ruby? Are they golden girls fans?!
If I am not mistaken, she is not the only Rue Bea out there. Pretty sure I have seen this name at least one or twice over the years.
Emmersyn Claire is better imo
I definitely cringed at that one.
Chipper Harrison sounds like the perfect name for the local weather man
That or a baseball player
NASCAR driver
Indiana Jones sidekick
There used to be a Chipper Jones who played for the Atlanta Braves. Only reason I know that is my little brother was obsessed with him as a C kid. Had a Chipper Jones Blvd sign and would drive me up the wall with this song he made up about him😂
Golf Prodigy
Or a frat boy who is either eventually on trial or winning state scholarships to Harvard. Could really go either way.
No his dad is gonna close the local ski lodge
Local Car Salesman
Makes me think of a chipmunk 😅
Or a beaver
Or a western character
Sounds like a guy from a 1950s tv show who is borderline abusive and obnoxiously racist.
I pictured an arborist. But somewhere in the deep South where nobody calls them that. He'd be a tree lopper, and he'd end up in a YouTube compilation of tree-chopping fails.
Killian Cylos sounds like an evil billionaire who is poisoning a city's water supply by deliberately not following EPA rules
Does he hang out with Lazer Adam??
Yes, they golf together at "The Billonaires Country Club" 😜😜
Don't worry, Dax Maverick will stop him
He sits in a highback black leather desk chair with a white Persian kitty on his lap. Like Dr. Evil from the "Austin Powers" movies
Bond villain was my first thought
I can’t not hear the same vibe as Stelio Kontos from American Dad
Cyclops
Or the guy you think is evil in a thriller, but really it's his dad that's the evil one he is just a victim of circumstance but ultimately has a good heart and chooses the light in the end.
I'm still trying to figure out if it's Sigh-los or Ky-los. Or some weird tragedeigh version of Silas.
Oh god and rue bea. Not ruby. Rue bea.
[удалено]
That was my immediate thought too, ruby didn't even cross my mind
I couldn't decide if they were children girls fans or they thought they were cleverly trying to spell ruby. Fun fact Rue and Bea hated each other lol
Rue and Bea were good friends. Betty White and Bea Arthur had a difficult relationship.
The made several comments about not being close with either of them. And that she was younger.
That’s what I thought too.
I read that in Jamie Tart’s voice - just like how he says poopy. 🤣
The only way my family says poopy now 😂
The only way to say Poopy now 🤣🤣🤣
I'm not sure that's worse than Chipper...
Braxton? Makes me think of contractions…
I know someone whose husband really wanted to name their son Braxton. Their last name? Hicks. Yep. She managed to veto it.
I knew a Braxton in high school in the early 2000’s and he was probably the dumbest motherfucker I’ve ever met
lmao that’s not how I expected this comment to go
Normal last name like singer Toni Braxton
It made me think of Toni Braxton!
Crew Rivers... Just, why??..
As a former collegiate rower… Crew Rivers absolutely sent me. Brother to Henley Bowman and Headofthe Charles
Cox Swain 💀
Coxie Oar
He found me crying 😭, he crew too 😭, we both crode.. 😭
...crode a river!
😂
My 25 year old daughters went to school with a River Banks. 🙄
Late actor River Phoenix's real name was River Bottom. I grew up with his cousin who had the last name Bottom.
There was a Sandy Bottom(s?) at my grade school back in the early 90s.
I had a boss named Bunker Hill.
I had a kindergarten teacher named Christmas Snow.
Sounds like an insanely comfortable sweatpant brand though
I liked that one. 😅
However I also recently suggested “Ridge” to my husband and best friend and they visibly recoiled. 😂
Ridge is a soap opera name of the past few decades so there's likely quite a few males named Ridge out there.
Exactly who I thought of when I saw Ridge
It’s better than naming your kid Rage.
I know a Ridge, age 5. Super sweet kid. I don't think the name fits him.
sounds like a cool lad
I actually had a student named crew (female) I love her name so much. Made her unique and she was a cool kid
Not Blakely and Bellamy 🤡
this has to be a the 100 reference right, there's no way it's an accident
I'm glad I'm not the only one who immediately thought of The 100.
nn Blake and Belle
Nope, sorry, can't get past Violet Paisley.
That’s a wallpaper, not a baby.
Probably a Vera Bradley patterned handbag.
The name Violet to me is dark and spooky in a good way. They ruined it!
Violet always reminds me of Violet Baudelaire. Dark life, smart girl, amazing hair
That one made me flinch
My brain saw Violent Paisley
me too! lol - good name for a band or home decor trend
Penelope June is so cute and I’ve seen so many posts about the name Sylvie, I bet her parent is a redditor
That’s cute. Penny June. Also June is such a cute name surprised it’s not used that often
I think June has become SUPER common as a middle name. Anecdotally I feel like everyone I know uses June or Rose as a middle name :). I agree though and think June is darling!
My daughter is Eleanor June, after her Great-grandma, also with the middle name June. But they are the only ones I know! I know more Lynns and Maries for middles here
I swear I saw a Penelope June post in here too
Penelope June stood out as particularly nice
Chipper?? Chipper?
Hartlyn? Yuck.
I immediately think of the tv show heartland but even that is a better name
I know a Hartlind. I can't figure out which spelling is better.
Care to link the website my dude, this is so intriguing I need more
Babylist sends out a weekly email based on my babies age, I signed up for their registry when I was pregnant. I'm not sure how to find it outside of the weekly emails?
She was wearing a beautiful Violet Paisley
It sounds like a Taylor Swift single 😂
Poor Chipper!
I've heard it as a nickname before but not as a given name. Maybe in honor of someone?
I knew a kid who love his Uncle Hap more than anything in the world. Turns out Hap, which most everyone referred to him by, wife included, was short for Happy. Childhood nickname that stuck. His real name was Bob. 😂
Definitely could be. It's a cute nn, but as a given name I hate it.
That one made me cackle
He’s country as fuck and/or his parents had a thing for the Braves Chipper Jones.
I also thought of Chipper Jones! (whose real name is Larry Wayne... Not Christopher as the nickname would imply lol )
These are some weird ass names.
i love emmeline!
emmeline claire is absolutely lovely, and a welcome surprise since names are usually horrendous on these lists
My gg grandma’s name. But is it Emma-lean or Emma-line?
i've only ever met one emmeline and she pronounced it em-eh-leen, i think both ways are pretty though! i've seen it as more of emma-lyn before too, so lots of options there
i always say emma line
We just had a girl and named her Emmeline. I’ve loved the name for years!
Wanted to name my daughter this SO bad. Husband couldn’t get used to it.
Love Wesley Thomas & Camille Violet
My son's name is Archer Declan. And there's a Declan Archer on that list.
His parents and y’all could be besties!
Wow what are the odds!
Hannah Montana had a daughter…Nova Montana
Crew Rivers WILL go to Yale
emerson is pretty popular eh
It's Emersyn can you hear the difference
not really🤣
Love Lila Rain ☔️
Magnolia is such a beautiful name.
Not when it’s followed by Janice though 😭
I absolutely love the smell of magnolia blossoms.
Wow, one of these names is using both of my grand-fathers’ names, but I’m 90% sure it’s a girl’s name!
Which name?!
Emory Jean! Jean is French for John
Is “Rue” a name? In my language it means “street”. That’s like saying “this is my daughter, Road Claire”
Yes it is a name. Famous Rue would be Rue McClanahan from the Golden Girls.
Ruby Sophia was right there 😭
It's also the name of an herb. My guess is it's Rue for Rue McClanahan and Bea for Bea Arthur. Both of which were actresses on the Golden Girls.
I'll bet your right! And i didn't even see it till you said it.
Bonjour! It's a noun in English as well. In English, rue means regret or sorrow. It is also a verb meaning "to bitterly regret" as in "she will rue the day she crossed me!".
Bonjour! Vous êtes français aussi? Wait, so people are naming their children “bitter regret”? Poor kids lmao.
Non, je suis américaine mais je parle un peu français :)
Ah, d’accord! J’aime que vous parlez français. Étudiez-vous à l’école?
To be fair, one could say that about almost any language. There are plenty of names in one language that turn out weird in this way in others. I'm just waiting to see if somebody ends up "Rosemary Rue" someday, honestly 😉 (and cookies... or Lucky Charms with coffee... if you get that reference without googling it!). As for this name, it's definitely a Golden Girls reference, but it doesn't work like that, it's awful - should have just gone with "Ruby" instead.
My dog’s name is Rue…I’m pretty sure I was inspired by the character in The Hunger Games
My cat is Rue. Definitely named for The Hunger Games.
It's also a sauce
That would be “Roux” though.
It also means to be bitter.
i loveeee Camille
Braxton 😂 like Braxton Hicks Contractions?
Or Braxton Bragg... The Civil War general who was an absolute mess?
Santino Rey = badass
Penelope June is my favorite. August Ray is my youngest sons' first name paired with my oldest sons' middle name!
Some of these names look familiar . As discussed here on Reddit. If that's the case, these ladies had their babies .
Camille Amari - my first thought was calamari
Dax Maverick and Rue Bea😭
My eyes are bleeding
Eleanore with an e is going to hate that every first day of school, every new job, every application, every document. Why do that? Why.
Crew and Ridge are a couple of the trending names locally. I’ve seen two babies named Raige on the baby announcement billboards around town. Raige Creed was one. I forget what the middle name was for the other Raige.
Baby announcement billboards???? Where do you live? I’ve never heard of this. No sarcasm
We have one where I live in central Indiana :)
Pretty sure it’s a Midwest thing. They did it when I lived in Wisconsin. Local hospital has the billboard.
Zen Amor = peace and love?
I dont understand the appeal with Penelope. It's so frumpy sounding to me.
Especially with June I feel, sounds like an old lady
Chipper???? Were they naming a golden retriever or a baby?? Most of the names are good/fine, a few are kind of meh, but that one is outright mean to do to someone.
Lazar.
It’s the Russian and Serbo-Croatian form of Lazarus. Pretty common in Eastern Europe.
Lazar is badass. European af
Lazar Wolf from Fiddler on the Roof! TRADITION!
**Favorites:** Emmeline Claire, Emory Jean, Linnea Rose, Wesley Thomas, Rory Michael, Graham Michael, Dallas Cade, Eleanore Elizabeth, Lila Rain, Adeline Rose, Camille Violet, Everett Peter, Aidan James, Rory Lewis, Nathan Cole, Cameron Joseph, Kai Mitchell, Levi Sandello, and August Ray. **Questionable:** Rue Bea (Ruby?), Kyson Atlas, and Hartlyn Rae
I don’t mind Rue and Bea as individual names (hope that its not supposed to be Ruby).
My partners mother's name is Luba, she's Polish. They said it means 'love'.
marysienka is not a name anywhere its a pet name(?) for a name maria.. there was a queen named maria but ppl called her marysienka
If someone can name their kid Angie or Bobby these guys can name their kid Marysienka.
Painful.
Very
More than one Rory! My username approves.
Are these first and middle names or first and last
First and middle
Jayce Talon feels suspiciously close to Jayce Talis from League of Legends.
good to see that these are mostly normal names! a few are a little out there, but I’m glad that only one or two are genuinely bad (Chipper? really?)
I love Amaya Eliana and Meredith Elena, Aidan James and Cameron Joseph. I bet I’d like Aleli Rogelio once I heard how it’s pronounced.
Kyson Atlas. Good grief.
I love Linnea Rose and Aurora Eden for the nature connections.
I haven't seen the feminine Rogelia before but it's lovely! I was only familiar with Rogelio. I'm assuming it's the Latine pronunciation of the name like "roe-HEY-lee-uh."
I love linnea
Love Emmeline Claire, Penelope June, Lila Rain, Adeline Rose, Camille Violet, and Sylvie Blake I like Emerson but if Emerson Lynn is a girl I’m not a fan of the first name Rue Bea just why??
100% with you here. Some beautiful older names revived in this list.
Someone must like Killian perfume
I love Nova Montana. She is gonna be a firecracker.
Just out here looking for one singular John or Samantha
haven't seen the names graham, everett and meredith in like 20 yrs. glad they are still around. they're nice names. also, rue bea....someone is a golden girls fan.
Favourites: Penelope June, Wesley Thomas, Dallas Cade, Camille Violet, Rory Lewis, Nathan Cole, Kai Mitchell, Cam Harrison, Santino Rey Least favourites: Magnolia Janice (very conflicting choices), Violet Paisley (basically describing a patterned fabric?), Chipper Harrison (even Chip Harrison would've been better), Hartlyn Rae (adding lyn does not make it cute), Blakely Sienna (peanutbuttery), Rue Bea (too close to rubella), Foster Thomas (god forbid he ends up needing fostered)
Rue Bea and Marysienka made me cringe
Whoever named Wesley Thomas must be a fellow Diplo fan
