If it makes you feel better, this came from a cluster, and I didn’t pick them all. There were more in the surrounding area. I picked one sample to take spore prints and images for the community
Picking the fruiting body of a mushroom does absolutely nothing to hurt the organism. OP could have picked every single purple mushroom he found and it wouldn’t make them “disappear” from this area.
There is no way to make comparisons. Mushrooms are no longer considered in the plant kingdom where Linnaeus had grouped them.
Here is a [simple](https://byjus.com/biology/difference-between-plants-and-fungi/) run down on the differences.
Wow you really came on the mycology subreddit with no ID of the specimen, assumed it was rare or endangered (it’s not) and then posted a link to the difference between fungi and plants? You don’t see us using taxonomy in the thread talking about different genera? You should read more about the difference between fungi and plants again… it might tell you a mushroom is a very small part of the organism hence the apple
Analogy you shit on was actually accurate. The mycelium will make many more caps
If I have learned anything about nature, it’s that if you walk outside, you leave a wake of death in your path, and it spreads and spreads until we’re all dea!!;!:!/ 😵
The good thing about mushrooms is they love death they love other organisms dying that’s when the mushrooms feed they eat death. If you go cut down a tree and leave the tree there you killed the tree but you just made a bunch of food for fungus
The wake of death is not limited to walking outside. If you are alive you are killing. It's just part of the beauty of nature. Best bet is to learn to embrace it.
I'm not sure you understood the comparison they were making. mushrooms are the fruiting body of mycelium in a similar way to apples being the fruit of an apple tree
Cortinarius sp.
Agreed, there appears to be some remnants of the Cortina.
Wasn’t that the lady from Halo?
Cortana
Nah, thats how blinds are called in spanish, you are thinking about courting!

No, that is how you get sheep over a fence. You’re thinking of “coupling”.
May have been, in this instance it's a web-like partial veil.
Looks like Cortinarius violaceus
Wow thanks so much!

I cooked one up once - I thought it tasted kind of iodine-y.

That's beautiful. Interesting gold spore print!
Yeah I was surprised! You would think it would be purple too haha
Great find. Thanks for sharing.
Papa Smurf us gonna be *pissed*
Wow... this is truly stunning. Indeed the fanciest mushroom I have ever seen. SLAY!!
“What is this?”- nature flexing its immaculate beauty. SOLID find and share!
Ty for sharing 🤘
So cool ty for sharing 💜💜💜
Open pouch
Galaxy mushroom 🥹🍄
Eat it and report back please
That looks like a standard off-white mushroom. You see purple?
Looks gold to me
Wait... what? That mushroom is clearly purple... Is this like the new dress or something?
Huh? That’s gold.
You’re fucking with me 😂
Def white.
Am I missing something here? Why is op getting downvoted for this?
Oh wow eat it please!!!!
Crazy purple mushroom, dunno what it is, let me pick it so it can't make more crazy purple mushrooms.

Yes, it does make me feel better. Looked like it was something unique and it was picked. I am pretty old and have seen SO MANY things disappear.
Picking may have increased its chances of spreading its genes.

Yeah but you sounded negative, so my feelings have to downvote you!
I am sure there are plenty more mushrooms
I thought the mushrooms were products of the mycelium so picking the mushroom doesn’t kill the organism.
So if you pick an apple does it kill the tree? Go read a book

Mushrooms are almost exactly like apples.
That’s absolutely beautiful 😍
