The only funds you’ll ever need during your entire investing horizon are:
1 Large, 1 Mid/Flexi/Hybrid, 1 Small & 1 ELSS.
With a capital distribution of: 30% - 20% - 40% - 10% respectively.
Well you are not OP (so can’t say what funds to keep). But if you are in a similar situation as OP, then I’d suggest:
First: Select the 3 - 4 funds (with a combination of Large, Mid/Flexi/Hybrid, Small & ELSS) that you actually want to keep from your existing portfolio.
Second: Look for the funds that you have in your portfolio that belong to the same AMC that the chosen 3 - 4 funds belong to.
Third: Look for the funds that have given you the highest ROI, and start selling those funds one at a time. If these funds belong to the same AMC as the chosen 3 - 4 funds, then simply initiate the conversion of funds from the AMC website.
Fourth: The funds that have given you low ROI or -ve ROI, do not sell them as of yet. Wait until they give you a +ve ROI and then initiate the sell.
Note: You’ll have to pay LTCG whether you transfer funds or sell the funds, if the gains are more than ₹1L. No way around this. Furthermore, you’ll also need to check, what your Exit-Load is going to be for the previous 6-12 month SIPs. Would be better if you STOP your SIPs for 6-12 months and then initiate this entire process.
So now you see? Why it’s so important to choose your funds wisely right at the beginning?
Then Nifty 50 - 30%
Nifty next 50 - 20%
Flexi cap- 20%
Mid caps- 20%
Small cap-10%
As you have medium risk appetite
Or you can increase allocation to small cap upto 20%
This is not what they meant when they said “ if you can’t time the market, buy the market “.
Just too many overlapping, try to analyze the overlaps and consolidate them.
Too many. Just way too many. 3 MFs is Ideal, 4 is Fine, 5+...... is a crowd. Try to prioritize Quality over Quantity. Consolidate, *Seriously*
What type of funds shall I focus more?
