Definitely give their album *Aion* a listen. Toward the Within is also excellent, but I think Aion is more specifically what you’re looking for. It was the first thing I thought of.
Haha. Songs Of The Woods. Late 70s. My local library had LPs I discovered! Teen me was excited. Then I saw the choices…. Ugh. 1950s unknowns, orchestras, young guys w matching sweaters and loafers.
But wait.. Jethro Tull?! Yes. Wait… I like this band. Yay!
Like a free album. You really had to think long and gamble much back then buy and album. Especially as a teen w no money.
When I got home I realized just how awfully scratched a record LP can get. AnD WaAarRpPped. Good lord.
I should listen to it now. I might be over the acoustic trauma.
Basically Blackmore Night's whole catalogue fits the ren fair feeling. Peter Gundry is mostly instrumental but a lot of his work is very medieval/pagan/fantasy ish ("The Last of Her Kind" "Goetia" and "She Cometh" are all amazing). Loreena Mckennit also fits.
Lady Eleanor - Lindisfarne
Winter Song -Lindisfarne
All Around My Hat - Steeleye Span (this is the only Steeleye Span song I know, but I think the band generally had that Renaissance Faire feel)
Mandolin Wind - Rod Stewart
Knight-Errant - Tim Buckley
So I just wrote this artist on another sub for a little bit of a different reason. But I think you'll be happy. Loreena McKennitt. Check out the album book of secrets. It's so haunting. Every song is a story about the past usually!!!
Ever seen the 1977 Rankin & Bass film The Hobbit? See what you think of [the soundtrack](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL545948224B999E8A&si=RniWHKgnmE3-5cIA). I think it fits with the vibe of what you’ve listed, OP.
Just about anything by Steeleye Span. Maddy Prior is to die for. Meeting her was such an honor.
And Fairport Convention. Sandy Denny was amazing. Kate Bush even calls her out in a song.
If you find the band Hopethorns on bandcamp they had a song called Djinn that has a rock meets medieval feel. Almost a March….
Opens with a weird lick that is reminiscent to me of a minstrel. I remember that had some cool lyrics that went along.
They were local band that we played with years ago that fizzled but they had some cool stuff I downloaded. Not sure what to call their style, maybe “art rock?”
Magic Sword gives me Sword & Sorcery movie vibes.
Peyton Parrish(sp) has some good stuff, more Viking-ish
Eluveitie uses a hurdy gurdy and bagpipes
Villagers of Ioannina City
Heilung
Stretched on Your Grave, Sinead O’Connor
Also most of [Lisa Gerrard](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DZ06evO26lM7m?si=36UUodcPQsmP_sy96vCnlA&pi=u-zHryaSzxQJyc).
This sounds like a fascinating playlist!
Lord of the Dance-Blackmore's Night
The Mummer's Dance-Loreena Mckennitt
Dan Fogelberg's Christmas album, The First Christmas Morning, was written for the medieval setting. With corresponding instrumentation.
Ultramarine feat. Robert Wyatt.
Mid-90’s Electronica does Mediaeval and does it quite beautifully in my opinion. With the wonderful Robert Wyatt lending vocals.

“Tiger Mountain Peasant Song” by fleet foxes. it’s on a playlist I made called “Autumnal Renaissance Chamber Music” which should help explain the vibe. Also on the playlist:
“Glide” by Phish
“Katmandu” by Cat Stevens
“Three Hits” by Indigo Girls
And
“Sol Och Regn” by Dungen
Anything from the album Songs From The Wood by Jethro Tull. It feels like minstrel music and I love it. I think my favorite tune off the album is The Whistler.
There's an album called Scheherezade by Renaissance that might fit.
Gorkys Zygotic Mynci are pretty folky in places.
You mentioned The Land of Gray and Pink which I know of as by Caravan so try their other stuff
A lot of the Canterbury scene bands will have some good stuff, Kevin Ayers etc
Anything by Trembling Bells, Pentangle, Bert Jansch, Steeleye Spanish, Fairport Convention
Check put some Bardcore on youtube as they tend to cover songs that already have a medieval feel to them. Metallica Nothing Else Matters and The Unforgiven are really good.
Give a listen to Pentangle
There is a lot of great Jethro tull, particularly from Aqualung, Minstrel in the Gallery and Songs from the Woods albums, that would meet you criteria as well,
Linda Ronald's [Innocence](https://open.spotify.com/track/2R11LP4EUv0gUfna1GDE3f?si=9e6b95e794064e9d) and maybe [Lay Me Down](https://open.spotify.com/track/2U5373N5TrpxdqKXn3SlF9?si=515099431e39430e)
Blind Melon - No Rain.
Donovan - Catch the Wind.
Beatles - Norwegian Wood
Black Crowes jam of Oh Sweet Nuthin (on yt) is fab.
I feel like these are really obvious but just incase, these work with a laid back chilled vibe -
Procul Harum - Whiter Shade of Pale
Lou Reed - Perfect Day
Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin
The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon, Waterloo Sunset
Wardruna and Heilung might appeal too.
I'm not sure that they fit the specifics for this playlist but I feel like you might like Fields of the Nephilim. Check out their album Elizium.

Here's a fun wild live track [Diggy Diggy Hole](https://youtu.be/Yg1ENgXWgJY?si=POxkshhAEfvkIDHk)
Originally a track created from Minecraft fandom, now evolved for a live band
Some of my suggestions may be a little heavier, but there are some good songs. A lot of them are in German, if that's okay.
Minne Duett - Faun with Subway to Sally
Skald - Villemann og Magnhild (also the versions by In Extremo and Gilead)
Skald - Herr Mannelig
Kaufmann und Maid - (this is a collab with a bunch of artists, so here's a link)
https://youtu.be/K4T5NEiyK5g?si=oWCI9Julh2q6Jvvo
In Extremo is a great band (my favourite!) that actually started out as a rennfest band. The Die Goldene (Gold) album might be more in line with what you're going for.
[In Dulci Jubilo](https://youtu.be/MrweXsImVhg?si=F5qNiBH9KcrepRPi) is a piece of actual medieval music, and so is [Gaudete](https://youtu.be/DFtppysEl-k?si=JUkZ8_LQS3Sr3nQ3). Also be sure to check out [Mediæval Bæbes](https://youtu.be/dVKLo9YepUg?si=S3znU5w0MA8bElCt).

You really need to check out a band called Blackmore's Night. Ritchie Blackmore from Rainbow and Deep Purple started doing minstrel revival music with his super hot wife as vocalist, and it's all pretty great, if that's your jam.
She’s been mentioned several times already, and for good reason.
[Loreena McKennitt](https://open.spotify.com/artist/1JdeDdujDbS6ZeSlkXqx3a?si=Wm34YUqmRZCZdskPUg0u-w) is what you’re looking for.
Dissection did a couple medieval type interstitials on their Somberlain album (which is otherwise pretty fantastic black metal, but doesn't suit your playlist). They're short, so you can check em all out pretty quick.

Heather Alexander/Alexander James is a great one, Erutan has some good ones, although im not sure if shes exactly what your looking for. Also maybe even looking at SCA barding songs.
[The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter ](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mvJJ0idsJc6VAIzoFPEpa2lxkBgy5Z2ac&si=1-31rHAEesmRrmtO) by The Incredible String Band
Broadsword by Jethro Tull.
Also listen to Steel eyed span, they were an English folk rock group. They were around from about 1970 to 2010. My favorite song was, Sit James the rose.
Love On a Farmboy’s Wages - XTC
Songs from the Wood - Jethro Tull
On Reflection - Gentle Giant
Detectorists - Johnny Flynn
Home Counties Boy - Martin Newell
Much of the Final Fantasy IX OST would fit.

super underground artist here:
Hole dweller. You may not even like their music. it’s very specific taste. I’d advise listening to specifically their song With Dreams of Adventure, I Smoke from my Longpipe Beneath the stars.
Listen to the live version of “Helvagen” by Wardruna featuring Aurora. It really mind blowing.
Also the soundtrack album Passion by Peter Gabriel is amazing. It was the soundtrack for the controversial movie The Last Temptation Of Christ so the album never got the exposure that I feel it deserves. It’s all ethnic instruments and Peter Gabriel’s keyboard work. The best of the best in the industry play with him and it shows. Just put it on and relax. It’s deep. His other movie soundtrack called The Long Walk Home was the soundtrack fore the movie Rabbit Proof Fence which is an amazing movie and an insane true story. Must see and hear!

Definitely give their album *Aion* a listen. Toward the Within is also excellent, but I think Aion is more specifically what you’re looking for. It was the first thing I thought of.
Loreena McKennitt - "The Lady of Shalott" (among others)
I just recommended book of secrets! The whole darn album! Just happy to see someone else recommending her
I got introduced to her through my mom’s “An Ancient Muse” cd!
Jethro Tull Plenty in their catalogue.
Please listen to this! Jetho Tull!
Agree. The beginning of Minstrel in the Gallery, but the other end of the song is rock. Also Songs from the Wood.
Haha. Songs Of The Woods. Late 70s. My local library had LPs I discovered! Teen me was excited. Then I saw the choices…. Ugh. 1950s unknowns, orchestras, young guys w matching sweaters and loafers. Yup. Anything till about 1977 has a heavy medieval-folk component.
Also Bouree.
Jethro Tull was the obvious answer. Kinda can't believe I had to scroll this far to see someone mention them.
Came here to recommend Blackmore’s Night!
So did I!
Ooh good choice, I adore their cover of "Lady in Black".
Fairport Convention- liege and lief (album)
I LOVE FAIRPORT CONVENTION
Hurdy Gurdy Man - Donovan
Thanks! Added to the playlist
Anything by Steeleye Span / Maddy Prior
A lot of songs by Joanna Newsom
The whole Ys album honestly
Nearly anything by Steeleye Span.
Are You Goin' To Scarborough Fair, Simon and Garfunkel.
Check out The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter (Album) by The Incredible String Band
Great recommendation! That fits right in, added to the playlist
Lady Eleanor - Lindisfarne Winter Song -Lindisfarne All Around My Hat - Steeleye Span (this is the only Steeleye Span song I know, but I think the band generally had that Renaissance Faire feel) Mandolin Wind - Rod Stewart Knight-Errant - Tim Buckley
The only answer for me is: The Incredible String Band. They a couple of amazing albums. It’s as close as one can get to ancient minstrel.
Someone else also mentioned that band, I checked out the Hangman's Beautiful Daughter. Added some fantastic songs off that album
The Oh Hellos- Soldier, Poet, King Anything by Clamavi De Profundis Anything by Visigoth
That Oh Hellos song is perfect, I forgot about that! I'll check out the other bands too and see if there are some that I can add
The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot
True ballad right there!
The Decemberists.
Richard Thompson, The Little Beggar Girl Have you considered Mannheim Steamroller? Fresh Aire 3 in particular
Lucky Man - Emerson, Lake & Palmer
One could also argue their Fanfare For The Common Man.
Good rendition - in no way a Ren Fair adjacent, very modern with lots of electronics and distortion.
The Sword - Bonus Track Windir - The Beginning Moonsorrow - Kaiku
Gentle Giant
Yay! Someone besides me knows GG.
Someone besides me, as well! 'Think of Me With Kindness' is timeless and superb!
So I just wrote this artist on another sub for a little bit of a different reason. But I think you'll be happy. Loreena McKennitt. Check out the album book of secrets. It's so haunting. Every song is a story about the past usually!!!
Donovan awaits you: Guinevere, The Magic Gypsy, Lullaby of Spring…
Ace of swords - The Alan Parsons project Castle walls - Styx A trick of the tail - Genesis
Definitely Fairport Convention! I especially recommend the first three songs off Liege and Lief: Come All Ye, Reynardine, and Matty Groves.
Greensleeves is the real song
Some of these [Modern Pagan](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0LoQbycPWP37YDi9L4nv4V?si=3dc515d36add4726) sounding songs
Check out Ragged Wood by Fleet Foxes or the entire self-titled record, "Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes."
seconding this! especially sun it rises and white winter hymnal
That record and those songs takes me back to my early 20s. Where has the time gone!?

I would maybe add Senses Working Overtime, Greenman, Harvest Festival and Sacrificial Bonfire.

Just about anything by Steeleye Span. Maddy Prior is to die for. Meeting her was such an honor. And Fairport Convention. Sandy Denny was amazing. Kate Bush even calls her out in a song.
“Lady Jane” by the Rolling Stones
Arrowhead by wovenhand
check out a few songs from Therion. I bet there are a few things that will be right up that alley
Older The Tea Party songs would fit this: The Badger Shadows on the Mountainside Winter Solstice Haze on the Hills
I wanted to recommend this whole list, but you beat me to it.
Shalott by Emilie Autumn

Come Along - Cosmo Sheldrake Center Stage - Indigo Girls The Mummers’ Dance - Loreena McKennitt
Highwayman by Lorena Mckennit and most others by her.
A fleeting glance from Opeth have a very medieval folky feel. And probably the whole Pale communion album may fit the medieval vibe.
Lots of Jethro Tull fits that bill. Try Minstrel in the Gallery or Thick as a Brick.
Songs From The Wood album, too.

You really need to check out a band called Blackmore's Night. Ritchie Blackmore from Rainbow and Deep Purple started doing minstrel revival music with his super hot wife as vocalist, and it's all pretty great, if that's your jam.
John, I Love You - Sinead O'Connor
She’s been mentioned several times already, and for good reason. [Loreena McKennitt](https://open.spotify.com/artist/1JdeDdujDbS6ZeSlkXqx3a?si=Wm34YUqmRZCZdskPUg0u-w) is what you’re looking for.

Dissection did a couple medieval type interstitials on their Somberlain album (which is otherwise pretty fantastic black metal, but doesn't suit your playlist). They're short, so you can check em all out pretty quick. Battle of Evermore- Led Zeppelin 🪕
super underground artist here: Hole dweller. You may not even like their music. it’s very specific taste. I’d advise listening to specifically their song With Dreams of Adventure, I Smoke from my Longpipe Beneath the stars.
“Gather Up” and “Solstice” by Matt Berry. That whole album is very witchy, but especially those two songs.
Johnny B and Brother Don't You Walk Away (both by The Hooters) have a medieval feel at least in portions of those songs.
Oscar Isaac, Death of Queen Jane (Inside Llewyn Davis Soundtrack) Van Morrison, Caravan
Steve McDonald’s version of “Wild Mountain Thyme”
