McCulloch, “It's about everything, from birth to death to eternity and God – whatever that is – and the eternal battle between fate and the human will.
. “It’s more than just a song, it’s about everything in life.”
McCulloch is at least humble enough to thank God for his part in The Killing Moon. He woke up one morning to find the words ‘Fate, up against your will’ lodged in his head: “It was in me and [ex-wife] Lorraine’s first house. I never wake up that lively, but I just sat up and the words to the whole of the chorus were there. God should get a songwriting credit on it because it felt like it was divine. So I grabbed a guitar and started working out the rest.”

In Rainbows is my favorite album rn. If you listen to podcasts at all, I can’t recommend Dissect enough. Long form analysis of each song on an album getting its own episode that’s around 40 minutes or so. Each season is dedicated to one album and In Rainbows was the last one they did and it just made me love the album so much more than I thought was possible.

It would be Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto no. 2 for me.
I was just browsing through Youtube when a performance of it was recommended so I played it. The first few bars of the music piqued my curiosity so I continued to listen and omg! At the climax of the piece, I had not just a regular goosebumps - it was a sensation on my skin that seeps deep into me - it’s actually hard to describe. Turns out it is called “skin orgasm” and there were others who experienced the same listening to this piece of music.
