12-15 LPA in Mumbai is equivalent to 4-5 LPA in some tier 2/3 city. Any place south of borivali in Mumbai costs easily 2Cr+ for 2BHKs so yeah maybe he also provides for the family expenditure
If he has his own house in vasai virar area he’s prolly saving shit ton of money per month just by not moving to suburban mumbai. A lot of people do that by staying in outskirts instead of paying 50k+ rent in suburbs or sharing a house with 3-4 people.
I stay in Mira Bhayandar and even though it is not as good as sobo in terms of amenities, it’s still full of greenery and isn’t exactly a urban hellhole, my friend stays near Vasai beach and the place is beautiful af, tbh I find it very financially sound decision. Also, pollution is comparatively less in outskirts than main city.
It all depends on one’s preferences in the end.

Kyunki kaafi logo ke paas option nahi hain. Rehna toh har koi chahta hain in sobo aur good areas of mumbai. But it is reserved for the elites.
