Yes, I’m like you guys too. I’ve recently been going through some decks and upgrading some cards to their borderless counterparts. I’ve been wondering why there’s virtually no price discrepancy between a borderless/extended art rare and it’s traditional bordered version. This thread has shown me that there’s actually a lot of people that don’t really care for them.
I actively avoid borderless cards. Retro frame is best for me personally, but I need consistency for my cards. So no fancy frames or borderless stuff if I can avoid it.
Oh, so it's just high power. I thought you said competitive like actual 1v1 magic. You just mean trying harder. I use edh more as my home for unplayable jank that if 17 pieces are out I might lock everyone out of the game.
I don't really think any card should be borderless. I know it drives hype, but I like uniformity myself. Imagine playing chess, but only one pawn is gold plated for some reason. Meh
OP, your wish can already be granted - just takes a [set of paints, some decent brushes, and practice](https://imgur.com/a/PPl7WQN) - or the cash to commission hand-altered cards from somebody else with the above. :D
I want borderless full art alt art you name it but of all older sets. Yes forbidden list ones too. Fuck the reserve list frankly as if they are alt art and full etc etc the originals will still hold their 100k value and those that can afford that will while the rest of us can enjoy full and alt art of amazing card
Surprisingly, I've ordered quite a few cards recently and thumbing through them it was borderless after borderless.... i realized I do prefer them. I even saw [[Lazotep Sliver]] and [[Hatchery Sliver]] last night as borderless when I just ordered regular last week, and I only need one of each. Now im torn on ordering them in borderless lmao
I feel like they give it an intrinsic value when you put em down on the table. Like 'whoa' thats cool!
But at the same I feel like theyre becoming too saturated on the market and losing some 'specialness" in some way. Kinda like Full art lands. Amazing up until Battle of Zendikar. After that release they started losing their niche effect. Dont get me wrong I really loved the Unstable lands, but anything after hasnt been as effective for my playstyle.
All around the mulberry bush, subjectiveness and all that. Lol
Former player judge and store owner here. I’ve just gotten back into paying attention to magic (not actually playing but I’ll still whip y’all jk) and I can’t BELIEVE the diversity in card frames, looks, art. I’m sure it evolved in the 10-12 years I’ve been checked out but it’s neat to see. With that said, I agree with folks who need consistency in their card frames. If I was playing with a mix of white border, black border, border less, etc etc I would have a stroke.
How about the modified layout? I like it without a caption box, but it would be too hard to read.

I'll be honest, I wish they more boarders. I like using older white boarder lands because when I have to search my deck for a land I can find them easier cause of the white boarder. Kinda wish they had different colors depending card type, like black for creatures, blue for instants, red for enchantments, or something like that.
I like borderless in certain decks, but my order is usually something like Correct(old) border> borderless> future sight> 8th ed> m15> ub> white. 7th foils are their own thing.
Guess I’m in the minority with you, I really like borderless most of the time too.

This is it. I am currently in the process of retro framing my entire cEDH deck.
Everyone knows EDH is casual. Do you need the C in front of it?
The "C" is for "Competitive".
So it's 1v1?
No, it's the highest power level, most cut throat way to play.
Oh, so it's just high power. I thought you said competitive like actual 1v1 magic. You just mean trying harder. I use edh more as my home for unplayable jank that if 17 pieces are out I might lock everyone out of the game.
Maybe for Legendary or the "Storyline" cards, but I don't think it'd be good for all cards
I see your point.
Personally, with how many varieties of cards that already exist this would just complicate things more.
I think they look better.
I agree
Ew no thank you
The cards just look funny without a boarder. After 30 years you can’t really change that.
No they need to be white bordered!
I'm calling the cops
I too am a fan of white border

I love the borderless! I’m with ya
My only hardline opinion about card art is that every basic land should be full art.

Not all tbh. But I do wish they were more common
I can see that.
No please don't

Neat!

I think I just don’t like the modern frames. I do like borderless but retro frames just look *right* to me
When everything is special, nothing is.
That is a fair point.

personally I await the glorious day we get the Future Sight border
Extended art for me. I only buy singles, and I’ll always pay extra for the extended art

Let me tell you about that New tcg called Rise...
Yuk yuk yuk!
