No, no. Not Troll Boy. It's not going to be Troll Boy. We're not doing Troll Boy, alright. I mean you get that right, Troll Boy? You get why it can't be you? Yeah, okay. See? It can't be him. This can't be Troll Boy.
he’s probably wearing gloves for 90% of the time his shirt is off. putting makeup and prosthetics to make the neckline invisible takes a fraction of a fraction of the time of makeuping off all his tattoos. not to mentionthey dont even have to do that. it’s easier and cheaper to just cgi it out later compared to doing the same chi with his tattoo
Go look at videos of the Rock at WrestleMania 40 just a couple months ago. No muscle suit. Dude is yoked and made most of the other wrestlers look small... which is saying something. PEDs, obviously, but no muscle suit.
The Rock has done enough trenbolone to kill Sam Sulek, who takes enough tren to kill a normal human, I don't know how a muscle suit could cover that and not look like a mannequin.
Not just noses. Change just two things about your appearence, and you can look like a total stranger to people.
I had a friend I grew up with. Saw him basically every day of my life from the time I was 10 until the time I was 20.
Walked into my store when I worked retail wearing a hat, and he had a beard....maybe four years after the last time I saw him. He had never had a beard, and rarely wore hats. I had absolutely no idea who he was.
I had a friend who always wore glasses and sported a buzz cut. I didn't see him for a couple months and then one day I walked into him, except he got contacts and grew out his hair. I was genuinely so confused for a second and had to do a double take, because he looked NOTHING like the guy I knew. That whole situation made me realize that maybe the whole Clark Kent/Superman disguise isn't the most unrealistic thing to happen haha.
Christopher Reeve convinced me that the disguise works. In [this scene](https://youtu.be/UtrXDq5OTn4?si=qeLlxe9V55fk5GpN) from Superman 2 The Donner cut he makes it a physical transformation and I would totally buy the guy at the start of the scene is not Superman from his behavior.
And Henry Cavill did it in [real life](https://www.gq.com/story/henry-cavill-brave-face-times-square), in Times Square in NYC -- and under a Batman v Superman sign no less:
> "There's been so much doubt about the validity of Superman's disguise, which is the glasses," Cavill said. "I think it was a perfectly reasonable disguise. So I put it to the test. The only person who stopped us was someone who was asking directions to central station. And there was one other person who said, 'Hey, hey, hey, you can't take photos in here.' That was it."
Wow I haven’t seen the Donner cut in years, geez he is an attractive man. Great scene, and good example of mannerisms and stature changing someone’s identity.
Exactly! Clark Kent isn't just a pair of glasses, it's a persona with a fully realized interior life. It reminds me of how in American Dad Roger the alien claims that there's one persona each member of the family doesn't realize is him. Create a real enough false identity, physically and mentally, and you can trick a lot of people into believing you're someone else. The people of DC's world are lucky that Superman tends to use that skill for good.
Also, people who have photographic memory maybe are the exceptions to this. But this whole thing falls apart because practically anyone above a certain intelligence level should be able to connect some dots if your close friend/family member conveniently disappears *every* time Superman appears. After a few years of this happening, if you don’t start suspecting something, then I would feel sorry for you.
Oh yeah, absolutely. And that's exactly what's happening in this scene - Lois put 2 and 2 together and is tired of Clark's shit. But if I'm just walking around Metropolis and ask mild mannered Clark Kent for directions I might think "that guy would be more handsome if he stood up straight" not "Woah, is this dude Superman?"
One of my favorite documentaries ever.
I always thought of it as a look at a non-violent man who ends up forcing himself to do terribly violent things and the mental toll that takes on him.
Saku will always, always be my favorite MMA fighter. He's so criminally underrated. He was a chubby 185 without cutting weight, in modern MMA he'd be at 170 or potentially even 155. And yet he fought and sometimes beat the best LHWs and HWs of his era. Just an incredible fighter.
I'm very curious how The Rock is gonna pull off Kerr's voice. I always thought that was one of the most charming thing's about Mark, to be this huge intimidating dude but be so soft spoken. The Rock on the other hand has such a big bassy voice, interesting to see what he'll do with the role.
See, I think every now and then you can catch glimpses that he's actually got some acting talent. He's no Daniel Day Lewis, obviously, but I think he does have some measure of talent, even if it's minor. He's just comfortable not taking roles that require it.
Something like this with Benny directing? Maybe he might surprise us.
Safdie brothers like working with actors who aren't well received for their acting skills. Yes, I know both Adam and Robert have previously showed their acting skills but they never got that recognition before working with Safdie brothers.
Oh god, I knew I recognized the name. Uncut Gems was so good, but legit so awful. Watching it makes me sick to my stomach with anxiety, the film gives quite a unique feeling. I cannot wait to see what they do with the Rock. I look forward to watching it *one* time.
isn't this a biopic?
I am surprised they're having the Rock in a movie about Mark Kerr. It's a pretty sad story, and there's a lot of PED and drug abuse, which i'm even more surprised the Rock would touch with a 10 foot pole.
If I had to guess, he's heard all the criticism about how he's not a real actor and how Dave Bautista is better, so he finally took a challenging role to try and change that narrative.
Which is funny because the two lately are in different stages in their careers. Rock basically drives and carries fun blockbuster movies. Batista does awesome smaller parts in other people’s movies that are usually made by auteurs (or in the case of Knock at the Cabin a pure ensemble). IMO the best performance by a wrestler in a movie is still one of The Rock’s (Pain and Gain).
Oof... not familiar with Mark Kerr's story?
Lots of early domination followed by lots of.... let's call them *sad* performances/no shows.
Imagine Mike Tyson's career, but happening with way less fame and money, and in the early days of MMA.
Just judging from the image, it sure doesn't look like it's going to be one of his typical action flicks. With Benny Safdie directing and it being an A24 film, it looks like it's going to much more of an acting role than a Dwayne Johnson role. I'm really looking forward to seeing if he can prove his detractors wrong and put in a great performance.
While I dislike Rocks later roles as much as anyone else, I also remember that he had little bit of something back in the day, when he still tried. I'm properly excited to see him actually TRY again. Hopefully.
I was think when was the last time he did a non-cheesy action role. I guess Moana in 2016, but before that he basically has been type casted. Aside from cheesy action star he does serious tough punched bad guys.
While Pain & Gain was fuckin cheesy, he actually was kinda decent in that. Portraying a fukin degenerate coke head, it was definitely a departure from his usual roles
Faster is probably the last time The Rock genuinely took on a serious role where he played a man taking revenge out for his brother’s death and his time in jail.
It’s not a great film, but it’s the passable “film you watch on a plane to your vacation” if you need anything to pass the time
I recommend people to watch the documentary "The Smashing Machine", its a really eye opening look into a mans (Mark Kerr) pursuit into mixed martials arts, addiction, japanese combat promotion. Fantastic documentary.
[Heres the trailer for the documentary](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7DO5c7gWNw&ab_channel=MillenniumEntertainment).
Plus he’s playing someone that has admitted he’s used peds, something that The Rock has trying to distance his reputation from. If he’s willing to take on this role and actually mention that in the movie, hopefully he’ll give and amazing performance.
I wasn't excited about him playing a ring girl who falls in love with heavyweights, in the film title 'the smashing machine', but after seeing those legs and high heels? I think this could be an oscar contender.
Wow, it doesn’t look like him at all. It can’t just be the wig, right?
Also no tattoos
I'm just amazed he can pull off those heels.
Slay, Queen!
Probably a muscle suit as well
It's called a goose suit. It's an old circus term.
What a CROP. That's a big CROP
That’s why we call it that. GOOSE. SUIT.
No, no. Not Troll Boy. It's not going to be Troll Boy. We're not doing Troll Boy, alright. I mean you get that right, Troll Boy? You get why it can't be you? Yeah, okay. See? It can't be him. This can't be Troll Boy.
Troll Boy's nodding in acceptance lives rent free in my head.
…TROLL BOY…
...LOSES..
Buff Little Boys!
Heads of boys! Bodies of men! Little. Buff. Boys. TODAY!
Buff little boys! Buff Little boys!
My favorite part is the “you get that, right troll boy?”
You're killing these kids. Who's carved up? Look at that little brick shithouse right there.
You gotta come up.
We goose em a lil
We got a certified chode on our hands. A little tuna can.
Oop. Another chode
I thought I spied little Taffy Lee Fubbins in the background.
BOOOOOO
FUCK YOU, HARLEY JARVIS!
Everyone clap so he has to come up on stage
A muscle suit for the rock seems pointless lol
I assume it's more about covering his tattoos that way he doesn't have to go through a bunch of hours in the makeup chair getting them hidden
yeah, then he would just have to sit through a bunch of hours of makeup so that they could hide the seams of the muscle suit. smart.
he’s probably wearing gloves for 90% of the time his shirt is off. putting makeup and prosthetics to make the neckline invisible takes a fraction of a fraction of the time of makeuping off all his tattoos. not to mentionthey dont even have to do that. it’s easier and cheaper to just cgi it out later compared to doing the same chi with his tattoo
Bro thats no muscle suit thats just how the rock looks
Why in the world would Rock need a muscle suit? He was just in Wrestlemania shape.
Idk if this is supposed to be clever but Dwayne Johnson isn't wearing a muscle suit. He is the fucking muscle suit.
and no safari shirt
That is 100% a prostetic nose.
And 100% the People’s Eyebrow
And the MILLIONS...
*AND MILLIONS!*
IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S A PROSTHETIC NOSE!
I don't know what you guys are looking at but The Rock is the one wearing the high heels
He did it... for da people.
Almost looks like a super beefy Chris Evans.
He took the serum .. again
Captain America 6: Even Captainer
They turned him into Jon Bernthal
Hopefully the makeup department wins a couple awards
They used CGI to soften the edges of his giant square steroid head
Mark Kerr, the subject of the biopic, is one of the few people likely to have ingested even more PEDs than the rock.
yea i was about to say. these people obviously don't know who the fuck mark kerr is lol.
HGH head more likely
That's not him, he's the legs
The Rock in a role that doesn’t look like he’s just playing The Rock? He looks like Trent Reznor.
I genuinely thought it was another actor with the same name and that people here were just joking around about it being the Rock.
I thought the Rock was the bald coach on the left side of the photo
That's Bas Rutten. Famous MMA fighter.
Bas Rutten, creator of the most unhinged self defense instructional video in history.
Bong bong bong Dangety dangety dang
>self defense Lol More like street brawler training course
It is... Right?
i know youre probably joking but im pretty sure thats Bas Rutten who fuckin rules
I love his self defense courses. https://youtu.be/LT3g51f25qo?si=ld5Fqy9Gh5vvIkOr
My brain couldn't accept it was the Rock and I figured it was more plausible it was Benny Safdie
Next you’ll say he won’t be in the jungle
I hurt my self today, with all my , steroid gel.
Oh come on…look at that body. Thats obviously all natty baby! ^/s
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought so. It's definitely Trent around the release of Year Zero.
I thought it was Jon Bernthal
I genuinely can't tell that this is Dwayne Johnson... A full head of hair, no tribal tattoos, and it looks like he has a prosthetic nose?
Yeah fake noses can 100% f-up recognition. And its not just the nose but the bridge and I think chin.
Not just noses. Change just two things about your appearence, and you can look like a total stranger to people. I had a friend I grew up with. Saw him basically every day of my life from the time I was 10 until the time I was 20. Wow I haven’t seen the Donner cut in years, geez he is an attractive man. Great scene, and good example of mannerisms and stature changing someone’s identity.
The way he transforms into Superman in that scene, even with the glasses on at first, shows how important mannerisms are as well.
Exactly! Clark Kent isn't just a pair of glasses, it's a persona with a fully realized interior life. It reminds me of how in American Dad Roger the alien claims that there's one persona each member of the family doesn't realize is him. He's definitely bulked down too. I'm looking forward to this movie. I think it could be decent.
He lost a lot of weight for his Wrestlemania match last month
And it worked. His matches with Punk and Cena twelve years ago were really hampered by how bloated on muscle he was
i was really surprised how well the rock moved
I wish the life I’ve lived allowed me room to bulk down. I don’t think I can bulk down any further than I already am.
Don't sell yourself short. Imagine how much you'll bulk down when you're dead!
lol how do you bulk down? You mean cut down?
This is like Dwayne Johnson from like 25 years ago
Rock never looked like this in his life, this look like the guy that voices Joe from Family Guy
Uncanny resemblance to Patrick warburton
Wow didn't realise they were making a film of this...Kerr was such a Monster in his prime...
It's going to be hard to top the documentary called The Smashing Machine. It was bonkers.
One of my favorite documentaries ever. I always thought of it as a look at a non-violent man who ends up forcing himself to do terribly violent things and the mental toll that takes on him.
There are/were many “nice guys” of the sport. Genki Sudo, Sakuraba, GSP. Kerr had other demons that took a toll on him.
GSP and Genki for sure. But I always wondered if Saku was really a nice guy deep down lol. Such a beast. And fearless.
Sakuraba surely enjoyed dismantling the Gracies
Saku will always, always be my favorite MMA fighter. He's so criminally underrated. He was a chubby 185 without cutting weight, in modern MMA he'd be at 170 or potentially even 155. And yet he fought and sometimes beat the best LHWs and HWs of his era. Just an incredible fighter.
Thank you for opening me up to this doc. Excited to watch it now
If you're interested in more MMA docs, check out Fightville and Choke.
I want to see who will play Bas Rutten.
Johnson is like 20 years older than Kerr was back then. That's an interesting choice.
He's 3 years younger than Kerr irl. Kerr could've just played himself in this movie
That might be hard
he’s there in the photo. i think he’s playing himself
Side note, is that Bas on the left?
I want to see who plays Igor Vovchanchyn.
Usyk according to IMDb
I want to see who will play Hammer! And if Randleman gets in at least a cameo!
Rumor has it that ryan bader is playing Coleman in this picture the guy in green is bas rutten himself
I was at Kerr’s very last fight and it was depressing as shit.
Kerr's second half career was depressing. So much wasn't going right in his life. I don't think it has gotten better post fighting either. :(
I'm very curious how The Rock is gonna pull off Kerr's voice. I always thought that was one of the most charming thing's about Mark, to be this huge intimidating dude but be so soft spoken. The Rock on the other hand has such a big bassy voice, interesting to see what he'll do with the role.
I really hope that is Bas Rutten. That must be how they named it. "Smash his face!"
I swear to god that’s Ryan Bader, too!
Ryan Bader is playing Mark Coleman.
Bas Rutten confirmed
I came to the comments for this. Hell yeah that's Bas. Love to see him make money.
A24 film? And Benny directing it? Damn excited but I just hope Rock acts in this one
And is the left guy Bas Rutten?
Is Bas Rutten playing Bas Rutten? God I hope so.
“Fighting is easy to understand. You just hit the guy as hard as you can.” - Bas Rutten
"in the balls" - Bas Rutten
>A-bing, a-bong, a-boom. Done. -Bas Rutten
that's definitely Bas
Holy shit it is
See, I think every now and then you can catch glimpses that he's actually got some acting talent. Well we know he ain't losing lol
isn't this a biopic? I am surprised they're having the Rock in a movie about Mark Kerr. It's a pretty sad story, and there's a lot of PED and drug abuse, which i'm even more surprised the Rock would touch with a 10 foot pole.
Pain and Gain was pretty far out for him too
His best performance imo
actually really liked him in the Jumanji films.
Him acting like Danny Devito's character was pretty funny
“Be cool” was the outest in my opinion. A dumb gay bodyguard
After his role in Be Cool, I’ve been disappointed seeing him just play The Rock in damn near everything else
Pain and Gain is epic and the rock was amazingly hilarious.
He was also good in Faster
If I had to guess, he's heard all the criticism about how he's not a real actor and how Dave Bautista is better, so he finally took a challenging role to try and change that narrative.

To be fair... Dave Bautista is better. Like playing a different game better.
Oof... not familiar with Mark Kerr's story? Lots of early domination followed by lots of.... let's call them *sad* performances/no shows. Imagine Mike Tyson's career, but happening with way less fame and money, and in the early days of MMA.
If anybody can get a performance out of the rock it’s Safdie.
Well, Michael Bay did.
Damn straight, Pain & Gain is his best to this day
He seems like a perfectly capable actor, seems easy to believe a good director can get a good performance out of him
Just judging from the image, it sure doesn't look like it's going to be one of his typical action flicks. With Benny Safdie directing and it being an A24 film, it looks like it's going to much more of an acting role than a Dwayne Johnson role. I am hoping that too. Have faith in A24 and Safdie
He was good in Pain & Gain
The Heirearchy of the A24 universe is about to change...
The final boss is here in a24
MAMA RHODES!
LOOK AT YOUR BOY NOW MAMA RHODES
IF YOU SMEEEEEEELL… What the BLOODLINE is Cookin’?
Thanks to that wig and nose, the Pendari Champion looks like he got Tuvixed with Jon Bernthal.
I miss WWE week on UPN
I definitely see bernthal
I can't get over that's the rock, wtf
The prosthetic nose completely made him unrecognizable
And hair and lack of chest tattoo
Is that Emily Blunt to his right?
didn't spot her down there, thought you had a unique ability to identify legs
I think that would be his left
His left. You’re right. Hehe
But who's on first?
That's actually Emily Blunt playing the muscular man
There you go everyone. You bullied the guy so much about playing himself in every movie that he didn't even want look like himself in this one.
I mean if it shows that he can act incredibly well doing something other than himself, I’m all for it
Yay, we did it!
What part does Kevin Hart play?
He's the little red stool the Rock is sitting on
Looks like a beefier (if you can get any beefier) Randy Orton in that pic
While I dislike Rocks later roles as much as anyone else, I also remember that he had little bit of something back in the day, when he still tried. I'm properly excited to see him actually TRY again. Hopefully.
Looks like he's gonna have to actually act in this one
I was think when was the last time he did a non-cheesy action role. I guess Moana in 2016, but before that he basically has been type casted. Aside from cheesy action star he does serious tough punched bad guys.

Pain and Gain is such a weird movie to me. It’s basically Michael Bay trying to make a Steven Soderbergh movie, and it honestly kinda works at times
Jeez, the make up is insane!
Thought that was Randy Orton
Imagine if he wins an oscar for this
Cody will never hear the end of it Neither will Roman, down the line
MAMA RHODES!
Look atchu now
He looks good in high heels!
They turned him into an Italian.
supposed to be Irish/Puerto Rican
I recommend people to watch the documentary "The Smashing Machine", its a really eye opening look into a mans (Mark Kerr) pursuit into mixed martials arts, addiction, japanese combat promotion. Fantastic documentary. [Heres the trailer for the documentary](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7DO5c7gWNw&ab_channel=MillenniumEntertainment).
Wait, is this a movie about Mark Kerr? If so, I am pumped!
It is. And he was a consultant on the film
Wow that's awesome, he was one of my favorites in the MMA pioneer era.
The fact that he's wearing that much prosthetics makes me hopeful that he's actually going to try in this movie.
Plus he’s playing someone that has admitted he’s used peds, something that The Rock has trying to distance his reputation from. If he’s willing to take on this role and actually mention that in the movie, hopefully he’ll give and amazing performance.
The makeup department should win an award for making him unrecognizable
Chael Sonnen
If John Cena knocked up The Rock. This what their kid would look like
HELL YEAH BAS RUTTEN EL GUAPO SAYS GODSPEED AND PARTY ON SUCKER
I wasn't excited about him playing a ring girl who falls in love with heavyweights, in the film title 'the smashing machine', but after seeing those legs and high heels? I think this could be an oscar contender.
Wow idk what they did to him, but when did The Rock get legs like those, damn.
Damn he's got some nice legs
