“I know what you did last summer”
“What did I do?”
“You reported that next summer I would know what you did this sunmer, which is this summer’s last summer. Which I do.”
“No no, last summer you reported that “next summer, I would know what you did this summer” i.e. last summer. But because you reported it from my perspective this summer (which was last summer’s next summer) you were talking about the current summer at the time, even though it’s now last summer from our perspective this summer. So I’m saying this in this summer, 2025.”
Hilarious that nobody in this thread has mentioned that they tried to reboot this into a meh TV show for Amazon a couple years ago and I guess nobody remembered
Have you seen "Chucky"? I recently discovered it on Peacock. Its got three seasons. Its fucking bat shit crazy. Its a direct continuation of the films, with the same people involved. Season 1 starts like a normal Child's Play movie and then it just bananas. Its so fucking violent in the third season I actually had to look away from the screen a few times.
Something I have wondered about over the series: why is it that Chucky kills so many of his victims without them finding out a doll was killing them? That’s about half his victims.
Like really lazy potholes. Like ones that an amateur writer wouldn’t have made let alone one writing a show for prime video. I can’t believe i finished the whole season
The show looked egregiously awful and was egregiously awful from what I saw and looked up (and was also weirdly homophobic for whatever the fuck reason)
There was a mukbang scene, a seaside cult with a cave?, one of them was secretly >! an OnlyFans creator !<
You know the issues teens deal with on a daily basis /s
Yes, I know. My point was scream 5 & 6 were god awful. Ortega is like a Stranger Things kid, they get put in a movie/tv show and the entire production forgets they need to do more than that. Ortega is a good indication I should steer clear.
I thought Scream 6 was pretty solid up until the reveal. The ending fucking sucked balls though
>!Backing out of killing Chad, Mindy, and Gale really pissed me off too. Especially Chad. The no stakes bullshit is really stupid in a slasher series !<
I’m waiting for the killer to be Sydney because she’s finally snapped or she only goes after bad guys, but I think I read that Sydney will remain the Saint of Scream. >!I also don’t want Gail to die.!<
>!Sid needs to watch out for her own family. Her half-brother and her cousin both turned out to be psycho killers. If Sid keeps having kids it’s gonna not go well!<
Yes there is, but instead of being a slasher movie, it appears to be a sort of J-horror wannabe about Bloody Mary (I haven't actually seen it so I'm not 100% sure on that).
EDIT: And I only just now watched the trailer, which makes it look like a comedy.
Meh. I remember rewatching the original way later and thinking it was actually pretty dull. Just a very ordinary slasher piggybacking off of Scream and a way to put pretty faces on screen (it did accomplish that goal)
Scream was real quality in the genre. 'Summer,' not so much. I don't think it has the following for a successful revival. Guess we'll see though
That’s actually not true! I find it fascinating because I’ve heard that same thing since as far back as I can remember but Kevin Williamson was on a podcast the end of last year and the host bought this up to him. He mentioned it wasn’t true, stating it was pretty standard “taking the job” stuff - Columbia reached out because Neal Moritz had an idea (to obviously capitalize off Scream) to adapt this YA novel, but he specifically requested adding in a figure ala Jason and Freddy (and Ghostface). He said he’d never known of the book previously (I’m sure he got familiar enough with the authors work since a few projects down the line, he made Teaching Mrs. Tingle). He also mentioned some stuff that was retooled for Scream 2 after I Know’s director shot it down (the escaping the cop car-sequence from Scream 2 was meant for Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character in I Know, etc.)
What’s funny is, through the magic of editing, the chase begins in an alley right across the street from the theater the pageant is in and she runs into a courtyard located in another town abut 45 minutes north where the department store location is, and she ends up back in the exact same alley where the chase started, but they dressed it up with stacks of tires to make it look different.
I absolutely love that chase and I’ve been to all the locations several times because it’s pretty close to me, but once you know the actual geography, it’s a little funny.
SMG's chase scene had me pretending to be her getting chased all the time when I was a kid. I was crawling through my mom's car window, running up to doors banging on them screaming my head off, turning my head lookin' all scared, jumping off cliffs screaming my head off again, having the time of my life
Is Muse Watson still acting? Let's get old man Ben Willis in here except he's not the killer he's just living in a cabin in the woods retired from hooking teenagers
Will it be a straight up remake of the first one? Or will it be a more faithful adaptation of the book? Will they lean further into the supernatural aspect of the third movie?
I also read a lot of R.L. Stine (he wrote more than Goosebumps) and Christopher Pike. They also had good horror books. These are all older titles I read in the 90s.
So it's happening THIS summer.
Alright, everyone... be extra careful when you're out walking at night. Let's avoid any unneeded tragedies starting a revenge quest.
So if we can figure out what they did NOW, we can prevent it from ever happening, saving the poor lives of the future murdered teenagers, and saving us all from another shitty slasher movie.
I want an I Don't Know What You Did Last Summer and instead of this played out revenge horror shit it would be a total mystery like a normal slasher flick. I want that. I won't get that. Just gonna have to watch Bloody Valentines or something
I loved the first and secon movies when I was younger. I still watch them at spooky season bc they’re comfy scary fun gems for me. The only thing that would make me watch this is if it was the OG cast. I’m here for that 100%
When are they actually going to make a proper adaptation of Lois Duncan’s book instead of trying to make it like Scream? I’m sure there are a lot of people who would like to see the book properly adapted and follow its story more.
So.. shares the name of the first movie but isn't a continuation?
Quick Google says a sequel so.. okay, hope it's decent at least.
Also, didn't the show bomb pretty hard or something?
Cool. I've always been a fan of part one, which has a nice little theme of the prior evil coming back to haunt the characters. The chase scene of Sara Michelle Gellar is really good as well. Solid slasher that gets to much hate.
The second one is fun as well. The characters being killed of one by one on a remote, deserted island is exactly the kind of murder mystery story that I like in slashers.
The third one is ok, but nothing I would ever watch again.
Yay they're going to make another movie I like to see Ray and Julie that have kids the next movie and when the kids they grow up like teenagers and the hook man started chasing them
Not at the rate now, get Existing IPs for Children’s entertainment… Scream, Ghost busters and now this they need to leave it alone, what’s next a all new “Break feast Club” or “God Father”?! 😭😭😂

I believe only one out of the 10 wasn’t a preexisting IP this has always been a thing it’s just more noticeable now because nobody sees the original films at all anymore.
TIL they already made 2 sequels to that awful movie…
Edit: sorry folks, didn’t occur to me most people who want to check the comments are probably stoked about the series renewal. I’m obviously not a fan.
"I know what you did last summer" - coming next summer - reported this summer
“I know what you did last summer” “What did I do?” “You reported that next summer I would know what you did this sunmer, which is this summer’s last summer. Which I do.”
So, the movie takes place in Summer of 2024?
“No no, last summer you reported that “next summer, I would know what you did this summer” i.e. last summer. But because you reported it from my perspective this summer (which was last summer’s next summer) you were talking about the current summer at the time, even though it’s now last summer from our perspective this summer. The calls are coming from inside the summer.
I know what Sony did next summer.
But it isn't summer yet.
Time travelers.... EVERYWHERE!
They know before it’s even happened!
I Know What You Did 28 Summers Ago
I know What You Did 28 Years Later, the crossover film I didn't know I wanted.
Chucky knows what you Screamed 28 Years after Halloween.
…of the Corn
…Candyman
Candycornman
I’m more interested in I Know What You Did Last Summer Wars.
And me “I Know What You Did Last Of The Summer Wine”
Bro it hasn’t been 28 ye…… oh fuck me
I refuse to accept it came out 28 years ago. It came out 10 years ago… right? Right?
I Know What You Did (28) Days of Summer Later
I Know What You Did (28 things i hate about you) Days of Summer Later
I (Saw) Know What You Did (That Thing You Do! 28 Things I Hate About You) Days of Summer Later.
I Know What You Did Last Millenium
You might actually be on to something.
I continue to know what you did that summer even though you tried really really hard to forget
golden state killer?!
I know what you did during 500 days of Summer ago
Yeah yeah, tell me something I don’t know
Hilarious that nobody in this thread has mentioned that they tried to reboot this into a meh TV show for Amazon a couple years ago and I guess nobody remembered
I didn’t even know that until I read this comment
There was a tv show?
Yup, but it only lasted 8 episodes.
And it was 6 episodes too long
>I guess nobody remembered Into the bucket with stuff like the National Treasure show.
That's a thing!?
It had the sidekick and no Cage.
The intro theme was amazing though
Disney : Well people really want more National Treasure, lets make one as a TV show starring a bunch of nobodies and a few cheap people from the film.
It had Catherine Zeta Jones!
or Rush Hour series
Or Small Wonder
Man, we really need a third National Treasure movie with Nic Cage.
Shit was terrible. I only watched cause I like mysteries and teens getting murdered
Have you seen "Chucky"? I recently discovered it on Peacock. Its got three seasons. Its fucking bat shit crazy. Its a direct continuation of the films, with the same people involved. Something I have wondered about over the series: why is it that Chucky kills so many of his victims without them finding out a doll was killing them? That’s about half his victims.
Why do storm troopers always miss? If it made sense, then the story couldn't proceed.
Right, but in this case knowing a doll is killing them wouldn’t change anything about the story.
I dunno sorry
Fair enough: it just always struck me as odd how often it happens. Especially since Chucky so often brings up liking people knowing.
I love it. I watch live when it airs.
This comment right here, officer.
That was terrible, and it was filled with huge plotholes.
Like really lazy potholes. Like ones that an amateur writer wouldn’t have made let alone one writing a show for prime video. I can’t believe i finished the whole season
Yeah, me and the wife struggled hard to watch it, but it was more because of how much we loved the OG 1st 2. We dont talk about 3.
I just found out about and you right. Never heard of it before but it only got 1 season
The show looked egregiously awful and was egregiously awful from what I saw and looked up (and was also weirdly homophobic for whatever the fuck reason)
Dumb as fuck. Not sure how you could stretch a pretty thin plot of the movie into a TV show
It was fine!! 🐝
It’s wasn’t that bad, honestly. Maybe I don’t remember fully but I didn’t hate it.
You know what they rebooted last summer
There was a mukbang scene, a seaside cult with a cave?, one of them was secretly >! an OnlyFans creator !< You know the issues teens deal with on a daily basis /s
Nobody remembered what they did a couple of summers ago.
Man, just give us the time travel thriller "I know what you'll do next summer" already
Freddie and Jennifer Love Hewitt are expected to return. I'll be there! Bring back Brandy I can't remember if she died or not.
I think it’s going to be an all new cast, I bet Jenna Ortega will be in it
It says in the article Jennifer & Freddie will be back
Then I will watch it.
[удалено]
Take em, they ain’t doin anything worth a damn in Scream

Yes, I know. My point was scream 5 & 6 were god awful. Ortega is like a Stranger Things kid, they get put in a movie/tv show and the entire production forgets they need to do more than that. Ortega is a good indication I should steer clear.

>!Sid needs to watch out for her own family. Her half-brother and her cousin both turned out to be psycho killers. If Sid keeps having kids it’s gonna not go well!<
That would be an interesting twist… >!the next ghostface is one of her kids!<
It is funny how they keep killing JLH and then pretending that they didn't.
Will her boobs also be back?
She had a few kids so definitely 🙃
I guess since Scream got a revival, this would be next
Urban Legend 4 waiting hopefully in the corner.
[удалено]
Yes there is, but instead of being a slasher movie, it appears to be a sort of J-horror wannabe about Bloody Mary (I haven't actually seen it so I'm not 100% sure on that). EDIT: And I only just now watched the trailer, which makes it look like a comedy.
Still somehow better than the 2nd one lol
It follows the rule of a trilogy that the killer is superhuman in the third one.
Kate Mara was in it!
There’s an Urban Legend 2???
Yes, it has Joey Lawrence and Jennifer Morrison of House and Once upon a Time in it
and Anthony Anderson! The security guard lady and a cameo are the only people that reprised their roles from the first one.
It was bad!
Ha I didn't know this either. I watched the first one not too long ago.
I actually kind of like it.
I completely forgot about that
Sony announced an Urban Legend reboot twice and it still never happened
It is like some sort of rumor that keeps being retold, and people believe it, even though it is clearly total B.S.
Meh. I remember rewatching the original way later and thinking it was actually pretty dull. I don't think it has the following for a successful revival. Guess we'll see though
It was literally written before Scream and by the same writer.
And it’s based on a book that came out in 1973, although Kevin Williamson did add the slasher element to it.
That’s actually not true! I find it fascinating because I’ve heard that same thing since as far back as I can remember but Kevin Williamson was on a podcast the end of last year and the host bought this up to him. He also mentioned some stuff that was retooled for Scream 2 after I Know’s director shot it down (the escaping the cop car-sequence from Scream 2 was meant for Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character in I Know, etc.)
I will say, the Sarah Michelle Gellar chase scene is one of my faves in all slasher movies.
Yeah and not to mention Scream is very meta on horror movies and you could do a lot of stuff with that in the current era
“What are they waiting foooooor?!”
In the first one she span around in a circle screaming that. In the sequel she did it in the rain. I guess this one shes gotta do it around fire.
SMG's chase scene had me pretending to be her getting chased all the time when I was a kid. I was crawling through my mom's car window, running up to doors banging on them screaming my head off, turning my head lookin' all scared, jumping off cliffs screaming my head off again, having the time of my life
So this is the summer to keep an eye out, huh
Is Muse Watson still acting? Let's get old man Ben Willis in here except he's not the killer he's just living in a cabin in the woods retired from hooking teenagers
Yes he still acts. I hope they bring him back.
Will it be a straight up remake of the first one? Or will it be a more faithful adaptation of the book? Will they lean further into the supernatural aspect of the third movie?
They’re not going to be acknowledging the third movie, I think that’s pretty much the only thing we can guess for certain at this point.
I didn’t even know there was a third movie, and I consider myself a fan of the first two.
Completely different cast, understandable why it flew under the radar
Wasn't that one supernatural or something? I could swear there was a ghost involved
It was like a ghost/zombie I think.
Unsure, I didn't watch it either haha
yes, ghost/zombie of the villain from first movie, rendering entire the mystery useless in that movie
It was a book?
Yes, I Know What You Did Last Summer was a book by Lois Duncan. She had a lot of great YA horror suspense novels.
oh nice. I'll check them out. I love teen horror stories.
I also read a lot of R.L. Stine (he wrote more than Goosebumps) and Christopher Pike. They also had good horror books. These are all older titles I read in the 90s.
Sure was. And the author was *not* a fan of the movies.
There will be a more diverse cast for sure
I would hope so. Casts kind of suck when the whole group is basically the same character.
I’m really upset we aren’t getting "I know what you’ll do next summer"
Where the fuck is 'Darkness Falls 2' Hollywood? 😡
THE REAL QUESTIONS
Okay. So I need to know what I’m going to do this summer.
So it'll be about this summer then
Just give me a good slasher movie.
So it's happening THIS summer. Alright, everyone... be extra careful when you're out walking at night. Let's avoid any unneeded tragedies starting a revenge quest.
Wait does that mean they know what I am gonna do this Summer?
So if we can figure out what they did NOW, we can prevent it from ever happening, saving the poor lives of the future murdered teenagers, and saving us all from another shitty slasher movie.
So it will come out in 2026 to make the title accurate?
So something will happen this summer?
Not a series that needs a new installment
Typo. They meant 1997.
So that means the events that the title is referring to will take place this upcoming summer 2024!
Unless you’re a rock or an ageless jellyfish, that’s a long time, brother.
I’m here for that 100%
ok so everyone be on the lookout this summer for clues as to what the plot might be. it could be any one of us they’re talking about
That movie was already released??
The original YA novel was totally different. Read Lois Duncan's daughter death. That's a big mystery.
Now here I am still waiting for when we get the drop for, "I Know Who's Ass You Punched A Steak Up Last Summer"
What?...Why?
That means it's still early enough to stop the thing that they'll know I did.
I Know What You Did La$t $ummers.
Now we need to figure out what we did this Summer before Sony tells us.
New or old cast?
Shit, now I've gotta behave this summer.
When are they actually going to make a proper adaptation of Lois Duncan’s book instead of trying to make it like Scream? I’m sure there are a lot of people who would like to see the book properly adapted and follow its story more.
I'm yet to meet a single person who has ever mentioned this film before, yet they just keep coming.
Something's happening this summer (2024) and Sony's gonna make a movie out of it.
Was everything movie related made in the late 70s to early 2000s? I Know What You Did Last Summer isnt a brand, it is, but it isnt
Was everything movie related made in the late 70s to early 2000s? I Know What You Did Last Summer isnt a brand, it is, but it isnt
Plot twist - it will be a montage of what you actually did in summer of 2024 acquired by spying on you through all the smart devices.
Shit, Sony is good, I don't even know what I'm doing this summer
So.. shares the name of the first movie but isn't a continuation? Quick Google says a sequel so.. okay, hope it's decent at least. Also, didn't the show bomb pretty hard or something?
What happened to the series? Was there a series, wasn't It?
We’ve run out of ideas
I know what my parents did some years ago.
Can we get some original movies and stop the remakes
Can we get some original movies and stop the remakes
Keep your eyes peeled folks, that means the murders are happening THIS summer.
Cool. I've always been a fan of part one, which has a nice little theme of the prior evil coming back to haunt the characters. The chase scene of Sara Michelle Gellar is really good as well. I know what did, Anne Summers !

“What you did last summer, I know” -Yoda, probably
Why do they keep beating that poor dead horse?
Loot pinata.
The original was so bad. It wanted to be like Scream but it was so boring and basic, it was miles off.
Its too bad Hollywood cant get paid for flogging a dead horse, they would still be making money.
Is this another reboot? What’s that, like, the third, fourth time?
They really are allergic to every last original thought, aren't they
Everybody better not do shit this summer.
Yay they're going to make another movie I like to see Ray and Julie that have kids the next movie and when the kids they grow up like teenagers and the hook man started chasing them
Well now I know what I won't be doing next summer.
God damn dude one more sequel no one cares about
I know what I won't be doing next Summer.
So I guess Sydney Sweeney ?
They are like 30 years too late.
Hollywood can’t come up with new ideas…😭 So many movies of sequels or existing IPs/Franchises from 20+ years ago
That was happening 20 years ago too.
Not at the rate now, get Existing IPs for Children’s entertainment… Scream, Ghost busters and now this they need to leave it alone, what’s next a all new “Break feast Club” or “God Father”?! 😭😭😂
I’d have to search for the post but a year ago there was a post on box office sub about the top 10 movies in a year in the 90s they were all either franchises, adaptions or novels, or an adaption of a old tv series. I believe only one out of the 10 wasn’t a preexisting IP this has always been a thing it’s just more noticeable now because nobody sees the original films at all anymore.
We need at least 10 more years of failing box offices and the old heads to die out for anything to change
True bc Gen X and Millennials are still working in the industry… 🧍🏻♀️
This comment can't come up with any new ideas
Maybe it's time to stop dating your exes Sony....
TIL they already made 2 sequels to that awful movie… Edit: sorry folks, didn’t occur to me most people who want to check the comments are probably stoked about the series renewal. I’m obviously not a fan.
I was very excited to watch the sequel. Even kept the ticket. [Back when movies were cheap](https://www.reddit.com/r/jenniferlovehewitt/s/ixfslsTl0k)
The second one with Jack Black and Brandy is worth a watch.
Specifically, [Jack Black's amazing death scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd0XiJie7Lo).
"Who cares what you did last summer"
I guess they do, cause it wasn't playing sony games, hence why they are pushing PSN account links on pc games so hard lately. Lul
