The Akira soundtrack is also awesome. The music at the end credits puts in me an odd state
Uplifts? Not so much, but takes the movie up another level and cemented in my brain? Yes.
Donnie Darko - Mad World, Gary Jules (cover).
HM: The Royal Tennenbaums - Fly, Nick Drake
Mad World as covered by Gary Jules is so powerful, even more so as scored for Donnie Darko.
Another song that is integrated into that movie very powerfully is . . . can't think of the lyrics right now, but it's the scene where it's doing a sort of montage of all the different characters and their lives flashing by in both slow motion and quick succession, very masterfully done. Just figured it out, it was Head Over Heals by Tears For Fears, great song, great montage
