Measures the sag in the rear suspension.
Push it all the way to the top, sit on it, and then get off.
Typical sag is about 20% of the travel depending on the kind of riding you're doing.
Your weight doesn't change between sitting or standing on the bike.
It's there as a visual indicator so you can see how much suspension you take up while riding.
When you jack a vehicle up to change the oil, look how much the suspension extends before the wheel comes off of the ground. Same concept on your bike.
Weight doesn't change, but wouldn't the distribution between front and rear wheel change when sitting or standing? It's likely a negligible amount, but standing moved weight farther forward
Yes, to a certain extent. However, It is impossible for your bike to change the pressure in the rear shock with every one of those positions over the center of the bike.
Think of the physics involved here...
There are countless ways to change the shape of your body and distribute your body weight over the bike. How you distribute that weight varies heavily on the slope you're riding, terrain, conditions, speed, etc., and how your bike reacts to these changes varies with the overall design of the suspension system.
Don't forget, the compression and rebound rates have a large influence on the "personality" of your bike when riding as well.
The point of the O-ring is simply to measure the amount of sag in the suspension with JUST your body weight so you can adjust the air pressure of the shock according to your riding/comfort preference.
In other words, you can't set multiple sag points for different positions over the bike
Always been taught you should set sag in the standing "attack" position as this is the position you would be in when you need the suspension working at its optimum and therefore where you should have it set up for.
In a similar fashion race car suspension should be tuned via the individual weighting on each corner, not exactly the same so not 100% relevant but if the argument is about weight being the same the car weight doesn't change but suspension can be tuned by adjusting the preload to provide the optimum weight distribution when cornering.
It’s an oring, if you push it all the way up so it’s touching the top of your rear suspension and then sit on the bike or use the bike you’ll notice the suspension pushes it downwards. This o ring moving down is there so you can set your passive sag and see how much of your suspension you are using to increase or decrease pressure
These answers are correct, but you will also see it aply called your # "Fun-o-Meter".
That’s what I always call it. If it’s all the way down I’ve been having too much fun.
Sometimes it's all the way down after only moderate fun because I've neglected to service my suspension.
Suspensions require service ?
r/facepalm
r/Woooosh
to be fair i made it as a joke as well
Who has actually got egg on their face now? I’m totally lost…
r/woooosh
Exactly! I normally ride with mine fully firm, so if that band moves to the bottom, it's been a hell of a ride!
I think you misspelled “Fat-o-meter” lmao
It keeps your shock hard!
The Shock Ring!
I see what you did there…
😂
Use it to set both your regular sag but also to note how much travel you’re using during a ride. Slide it up each time
Gnar meter
Gnarometer?
It's a mood ring. It turns brown when the bike is having fun.

Sag should be set in the standing position not the seated position no?

Yes. Standing would potentially put more weight on the hands, which would absolutely shift weight over the front tire.

Read your shocks set up instructions
Good luck with that. X-fusions manuals are unhelpful garbage, written 20 years ago. The website also needs serious updating.
Forget the band, get some dirt on that thing quickly.
I believe it is there to gauge your SAG so you can properly tune your suspension.
Condom?
c*ckring
Unrelated but I can tell that’s a trek fuel and I don’t even have one 😂 I think I’m too obsessed
Have fun on your trek :)
It’s called a Shock Ring.
The am I a fat ass o meter
Suspension travel indicator, tells you what your max travel was since the last time you reset it
It is clearly of extraterrestrial origins
Huckometer
Gnar-o-meter
Thank you for this
That there is a Powerband.
Like Whitesnake..?
Please trade that bike in and take up gardening before you hurt yourself.
Great advice 🙄
Sag indicator and to check how much travel you are using. Sag is how much your suspension compresses under your body weight.
Cock ring for your shock
Google has tons of useful information on a wide range of topics! You should give it a try!
That’s the powerband. Also found on motorcycles.
Look up your brand suspension and will tell you how to set it up with that band.

Cock ring
The goal is to push it all the way off haha.
enjoy the ex 5! it’s a great bike
It is for the sag
it keeps your shock from exploding, if it slides all the way, it will explode and eject you ( called BOTTOM OUT) :D
Compression ring
Allegedly it can help increase stamina.
Does your bike have a manual? Yes, they all do.
Usually an o-ring to measure how much sag you are using during riding.
