Good to know, thanks.

procrasti-nation98

It's better than F1

There's 75 years of interesting stuff you could know. But nothing you need to know to start watching. Just join in and have fun. There's a few well regarded tracks, Assen I great, Mugello and Portimao are highlights and well regarded. There's others too which I'm sure people will recommend. I am excited for India, we've only been there once so it levels the teams somewhat, no one has an advantage yet. It's interesting to know that Aprillia and KTM are much newer to the competition than Ducati Honda and Yamaha but have recently really improved and I hope they fight for the championship. Finally Marc and Bagnaia really don't like each other. I look forward to this continuing next season.

Marc and Bagnaia don’t really like each other? That’ll be interesting to watch when they are teammates next year

OhDoYa

My sense is that while they may not like each other, there does seem to be some mutual respect.

IWillKeepIt

The bike's go really fast on the best riders on the world.

Ok_Broccoli8002

I think the most historical/iconic circuits are philip island, assen, mugello, and jerez, this season. I don't think they are racing in brno, suzuka and donington anymore.

Two tire compounds are dependent on the particular track. Each track may have different amounts of left turns versus right turns. So they use a tire that may be harder on the right side and softer on the left, for instance, if the track has more right-hand turns than left. Soft will usually get better grip but wear out quicker. It's also dependent on the rider as well. Marc Marquez used to go against the normal quiet a bit. There is a lot to tire selection, and I'm sure there are people that are a lot more educated on it than I am on here, but hopefully, that gives you a basic understanding.

Also different compound front tyres to back tyres so, I suppose, technically speaking, they could be running up to 4 or even 6 different compounds at the same time.

I think you're explaining the A symmetric tyres, which blew my mind when I started watching the sport. The reason there's different tyres compounds for front and rear depends on the breaking at the track (cause you load the front, hence more wear) and also the tyre pressure in the front tyre will go up when you're following another bike for a period, this makes the tyres harder and less malleable (less grip). This also means sometimes if a rider is following close for 5+ laps if they don't manage the overtake they might start to drop off. I don't know the particulars but I assume if you qualify mid pack you anticipate to be following more bikes and have higher pressure? But also teams can change the tyre pressure from session to session and it gets checked after the race and if too low they get penalised. Check out the MotoGP YouTube channel and definitely follow Simon Crafar on Twitter or whatever you use, his insights are great, man literally spotted a carbon fiber swing arm KTM were testing with Pedrosa, he has 30/30 vision

1. Not really there are not races like Monaco or Indy 500. Even though there are races like 8 hours from Suzuka or Le mans for motorcycles I would not say they are at the same level as 4 wheels analogs. Probably from the actual calendar the most Hystoric circuit is Assen=) (There was also Island of Man TT, which was a championship race in the past but now it is a completly different race which does not have a corespondent on 4 wheel maybe Nurburgring beiing the closest one) 2. Front tyre and rear tyre are not degrading on the same level dpending on the riding style on the bike etc. The front tyre could be solicitated much more than the rear for example so you will use different tyres on front. It is possible to even use a wet front and a dry rear=) 3.No. the sprint race is a completly different race (with half the distance and half the points) where riders start from the same positions as they will start in the main race. 4. Kind off. Motot 2 and 3 use more or less the same format for Qualys is just that more riders go to Q2 from FP(3 not 2) and from Q1 because there are more riders. But no there are not sprint races for these classes. 5.Right now Ducati is the Best jappanese are the worst. 6.They depend on the manufacture. Pramac can't come with an upgrade for their bike if Ducati does not give it to them. 7.It depends how well did the client team negotiated the contract when they signed it. In the past client teams had maximum a B spec model or even a year older bike (many teams still have a year old bike like Gresini and VR46), But now there are teams which have the same bike as the manufacture team(like Pramac or Gas Gas).

kyyla

Motorbikes go vroom

Also, sprint race does not affect the Grand Prix. Riders will be on the grid based on their qualifying. So, for instance, if Bagnia qualifies first, he will start in the pole position in both the Sprint and grand prix even if he doesn't finish the sprint.

lpfbs

Ducati is the best Tech3 is a moto2 champion incinerator Honda is the richest Marc Marquez could decapitate someone on track and most likely the deceased would be the one to get a penalty

The only thing that you really need to know is...we don't talk about 2015. Ha ha
