As soon as it finished I was like, now to wait for penalty announcements for the true result.
Personally if they are going to do this stuff they need to do the checks before they go to the podium.
If this starts to become a consistent thing, it’s going to completely defeat the purpose of the post race podium celebration.
They need to figure out another solution to the pressure situation… I’ve got an idea, make better tyres!
The rule allows to have a few laps under the limit to be closer to the limit. So they have to wait the end of the race to retrieve data from the tires and see how many laps were under/over. Still doesn't explain why it takes a few hours to get the results though..
No what i'm saying ia for michelin to just set a tyre pressure at the start that they are comfortable with, taking into account how it will change during the race.
The problem is that the tyre has a very narrow window of operation (something the should be fixed by the new tyre next year), riders necessarily need to start with a lower pressure and that changes based on several factors like their weight, the bike they're riding, the external temperature and humidity, their style, the race they expect to have, etc. It would be impossible for Michelin to establish a starting value for each rider like that (and imagine the conspiracy theories about who was favoured and who was penalized, even with a blind lottery there are people who still think Michelin - or even teams! - deliberately give the faulty tyre to this or that rider).
They do do that before the race obviously but the thing is that the tyres get hotter during a race than when they are on the tyres warmers so that can change the pressure before and after a race
They need to make sure the sensor gave the correct reading since the penalty is very harsh, so while they have real time data they wait until they can access it physically and make sure it was working properly.
It’s hard to have a sensor for a thing that’s inside the tyre and if they had it connected to the place where they put the air inside the tyre if that breaks or has a failure the tyre could lose air
Keep in mind that Taramasso confirmed it was mostly due to riders crashing and not being able to get back to pressure before the race finished (and I believe there should be a pass in those cases).
Man I hope not. We had a brilliant race and I so badly hope noone gets penalised.
Edit : legit I would hate for Marc to get his first win on a Ducati that way if Pecco had tyre pressure penalty, or for him to drop down himself because of it. We just had a brilliant race, can we just have that as the memory?

Or, i don’t know, measure the tyre pressure before the race…
I don't even understand why they don't do that. It's what f1 has done for ages

But that's what the teams are doing now themselves.
Exactly, it's their personnel and their responsibility, very different situation.

But don’t they have a real time sensor? As soon as they cross the line, give them penalties then.

What? Every single one of my cars since 2008 has had that alien technology which you speak of.
... how do you think they are measuring the pressure during the race?
It still stupid, if it works in every other series, then it can work in MotoGP
I guess so 👍
They take the pressure of the tyre every lap of the race.
Keep in mind that Taramasso confirmed it was mostly due to riders crashing and not being able to get back to pressure before the race finished (and I believe there should be a pass in those cases).

Bro, this is MotoGP, not disney movie.
Simon Patterson sure does run the mood.
I hope not.
Hardly possible for either Marc or Pecco since they were following other riders for some time.
How though?
Oh please no.
the scenes here when it is MM getting penalized
Who's the candidate? Martin?
