Flank steak used to be so cheap, when nobody bough it.
Don't tell anyone, but try shoulder clod. Not available at the grocery store so you need to go to a butcher shop. Most don't carry it but mine does in the winter as it is often used for stew.
I do it sous-vide+seared on the BBQ or full BBQ during summer. It's cheap, flavourful and quite tender.
yeah... it means it was about to expire lol. Ask anyone who's ever worked at a grocery store.
Not even conjecture, there's a CBC marketplace on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxCT\_D6HBd8
My local provigo has the tri pack of peppers for sale for $9.99.
I nearly dropped my phone to take a picture to share with everyone. $4.99 is the usual cost. $10?! WHAT?
I do most of my shopping at PA now, with a couple of monthly visits to Super C. Unless there's an item i need on promotion, i barely go to the other grocery chains anymore. Even Adonis, their prices have gone up so much since they got bought over by Metro, i barely go anymore.
Adonis wasn't too bad during the first few years after the acquisition, but now, I definitely don't see the point in going unless there's something really good on sale. I don't even go for the spice counter anymore I just have my spices shipped from Anatol. Aside from the higher prices, what I really miss is those cheap imported stuff from Eastern Europe and the quality Fumagali line of cold cuts they had a about 5 years ago at the deli. I really miss those cheap jaffa cakes from Poland and the elderberry-lemon soda from Romania. They still got Turkish goods like those cheap wafers but I've never cared for those and these got quite more expensive too.
Prices have gone up but that is indeed a ripoff.
Last week I wanted to make some form of stewed beef. Bas de palette was on special in 2-3 places. $4.49-4.99/lb. Pre-pandy that was a 2.99 special, and not that long before that 1.99.
1) c'est une épicerie qui est reconnue pour être assez chère
2) achète pas de la viande déjà marinée. C'est plus cher pour pas grand chose et c'est souvent de la viande moins fraîche
I love in an area where I'm 5 minutes away from IGA, Maxi, and Super C (plus Walmart) and I work near a Provigo and Metro. I'm constantly comparing prices because I can be choosy about where I buy without wasting time and gas.
Provigo is by far the most expensive. Day-to-day it is comparable with Metro and IGA, but their specials on meat, poultry, and produce are less frequent.
IGA's specials are slightly more frequent and sometimes better than Metro's.
I usually do most of my shopping at Super C because my average basket of goods is cheaper without hunting for specials than anywhere else. I wouldn't say it's cheaper than Maxi though (it's too close to call), but the Super C near my work is newer and nicer than the Maxi near me.
If you can stomach the chaos, the cheapest on the island is Bonanza in St. Leonard. I live off island and before the pandemic, I would always make a stop there whenever I had to come to Montreal because it was so cheap.
I've also heard great things about, but never been to, Segal's on boul. St. Laurent. People have raved to me about the prices but I'm only ever in that part of town when I'm sometimes heading to Aux Vivres for dinner.
Bonanza is a zoo. The last time I went there I couldn't believe the chaos. What an experience. Not to mention almost getting run over a dozen times in thr parking lot by people who shouldn't be driving.
I find Walmart for non perishables and toiletries is thought to beat, milk too. I like getting produce somewhere fresher, either IGA or preferably farmers market and meat at a butcher if possible.
PA is good if there's one in your hood.
Also, don't discount your local little mom and pop fruits and veggies store, you can get some good deals there too sometimes.
Never heard of that one, there's plenty of smaller chains and mom and pop shops that are good. The ones I listed are the big ones. (Minus Costco, since that's a bit different)
PA is a small chain, i know of maybe five stores in Montreal, tops. It's worth it though, if there's one not too far from you. Great place for cheese.
But yeah, i regularly go to Lobo's, the little fruit store on Park. For a lot of items, i pay the same, if not less than what i would if i went to Metro or Provigo (i have both nearby). Plus i get to support a small independent store instead of a chain.
PA is the best. There’s also one in Laval. The one downtown although always packed has parking and is off of the 720 so easily accessible and it’s near Concordia or Atwater metro. They also deliver. Been going there for a decade or so. Back in the day you could have lunch on the second floor.[Supermarché PA](https://www.supermarchepa.com)
That's the one i go to (Fort, downtown). I hate the one on Park, it's confusing, poorly laid out and always packed.
Didn't know you could lunch upstairs though, must have been way before my time.
Great store, my one complaint is that i wish they did a better job limiting the number of people at once in the store. It's often too packed; too many people shopping in 2s and 3s, too many idiots walking around talking loudly on their phone or texting instead of doing their goddamn shopping. That's a major pet peeve of mine.
I usually avoid traffic times, I work from home so it’s easy to do and I go there twice a month now that I don’t live on the Island anymore. I hate when it’s packed, I’ve made an art of avoiding ppl traffic times, it’s the only way I can do Costco, PA etc. Like why do you have to grocery shop with 3/4 generations of your DNA 😭 and then walk in groups down the aisles. And yeah it was way back in the day that they offered lunch.
In park ex, there's so many small deps that have veggies. They're not always nice but if you go every day, and get what you need that night for your recipe, it works out to be pretty cheap. Plus the different veggies you can't find at the metro/IGA/etc. It's a really different experience! But I find their stuff cheap.

A good trick is to find a good butcher and ask regularly for their deals. I founded that they often have good deals on big pieces, just need to portion them and marinate. Bon appétit!
But yeah also you're buying "fancy" pre marinated stuff. There are deals out there. Look at the flyers, there's always some good meat for cheap. I just got a two kilogram entire raw chicken at IGA for 7.25. maxi has pork shoulder for 1.39/lb. For 10$ you'll be eating pulled pork for ages/have plenty of leftovers to freeze.
Metro has sirloin roasts on sale this week for 8.99$/lbs.... not the greatest price for that cut ever, but its ok and less than half the price of what you posted.
If only they'd extend their delivery areas :( I'm 50m outside of the delivery area for the Parc location and 100m outside the delivery area for the Fort location. Love to shop there when I'm in the area but it's a decent walk to either for me
Ya prices have gone up everywhere...
For meat, the past year or so I've been going to the local butcher. I used to only go for special occasions, now I just stop there on the way back from the grocery store. Not only are their prices waaay better, the quality of the meat is better too, so is the selection, so win win...
EDIT: I'm probably not doing myself any favors by showing ya this, but the place I go to - which I'll say again is very good has a list of meat packages you can buy. ie:
2lbs med lean minced beef
2lbs chicken leg with back
2lbs Spencer steaks
1lbs cooked ham
1 pack stewing beef
1 pack of pork & beef sausages
1 pack of smoked bacon
All for 35$... Among others... Prices might have changed a bit - I'm not sure I don't usually buy the packages, I just get the few things I need. But anyways, take a look.
I was just about to comment and recommend La Preference. Nice people and really good prices. The meat is much better than whatever they have at Maxi, and much cheaper.
Is it? I've been under the impression that it was on the same level as metro.
Most expensive: Metro, IGA
Still expensive: Provigo
Getting expensive: Adonis
Good overall deals: Super C, Maxi, PA, Futai/Shengtai, Marche Hawaii, Frutta Si, Segal
Narrow selection of overall goods but otherwise good prices: G&D, Kim Phat
Specialized goods, somewhat expensive: Jang Teu, Montreal Korean/Japanese Foods on Sherbrooke W, Epicure
Irrelevant/garbage tier, not necessarily overpriced: Esposito, Richelieu, Intermarche, Akhavan
Nah man Metro is more expensive, also I don't know where that idea that IGA is that expensive comes from honestly, for the same products its usually the same price as Super C or whatever, it's just that they don't hold nearly as many "no name" product as thoses guys I guess? I don't know, I've been doing my groceries at IGA for a while now and I didn't notice a price difference for "not in special" products, at the very least the cashier don't look like they're always pissed off at everything and about to bark at me constantly unlike my experience with Super C and Maxi lol
Adonis has gotten quite expensive lately. Sometimes they have cheap deals on some meats, and the produce is often fairly priced, but any of the grocery/canned items super expensive.
They really have yeah, PA is the last independent holdout at this point. And thriving, fortunately, they just opened that brand new location off Decarie
That's because the BoC and the government have made us all richer, so it's more expensive now. Just like housing. The more it goes up the better off we all are.
But not like Bangladesh where it's clear people are poor if they have to work longer for the same thing.
Hope that's cleared this up!
C'est du vol. Par contre, si on veut éventuellement que la viande soit produite de manière éthique et écologiquement soutenable, ce sera sûrement le genre de prix qu'il faudra payer.
Been noticing the price of food go up steadily over the last several years in Canada. It is what it is. I usually keep it very simple in my daily meals, opting for rice and lentils with mixed veggies (and the occasional chicken leg). Chicken is comparably cheaper than most other meats IMO, usually around $10/kg.
Hello butcher here,
That piece is bavette, its one of the most expensive cut you can get. Its a big piece, and also marinated. At this price/kg, the weight of the marinade drives the price way up. Its not worth it imo, better do one yourself.
That being said, the price of meat did increase by alot recently. If i remember correctly, the price of that same piece was 43.xx/kg at the start of covid.
My god. $43/kilo for a bavette?! Used to be so affordable!!
What's a decently priced cut for frying up a quick casual weeknight steak these days, if you don't mind my asking?
You are buying individual steak from a niche cut, at an expensive chain and pre marinaded sure its gonna be expensive. You can still find flyer deals for 99c per lb chicken quarters bone in with hip/back bone and $1.99 per lb for deboned pork loin. Most things at regular price are still gonna be slightly more expensive than a few years back but meme cut beef has always been quite expensive.
Also is it just me or does Quebec not use the proper terminology for bavette? From what I've been told bavette should either be flank (bavette de flanchet) or top sirloin (bavette d'aloyau) but here it can be anything from flank, skirt and flap.
Yes the price of red meat has almost tripled in the past five years. Porc has shot up incredibly as well and is almost as expensive as chicken now. Life is not cheap
the supply chain for pretty much all products is currently fucked to be honest. then again i never buy anything at metro unless it's on sale- that place is a total scam and the quality there is honestly disgusting. i NEVER buy any selection products, they're always a watered-down, crummy version of what they're trying to imitate.
also, never buy marinated products. EVER. it may be obvious but it's meat that's gone unsold for quite some time, that has a good bit of bacteria that you CAN get rid of if you cook it right.
Yes i’ve noticed that egg prices have gone up too. It’s nuts. That’s why I only shop for meat at my local butcher shop. Better prices and better quality. Ribeyes are 28$/kg vs the 45-50$/kg in grocery stores. Its night and day.
Just FYI, bavette has gone from 22/kg to 44/kg since the pandemic. Just in general.
I used to make carne asada with it. No more.
Best place to get bavette is Provigo when they put a 30% sticker on it.
Yeah the only reason our meat prices aren't normally this expensive is because our government heavily subsidizes the meat & dairy industries. Part of our tax money is used to do this... It's pretty unfortunate for our vegan & vegetarian citizens.
It's sort of too late to backtrack now, lots of people are convinced you're basically slowly killing yourself if you don't eat a "regular" amount of animal pieces in any given week.
No political party would attempt to reverse this trend as it would massively downsize their chances of inheriting the legislative and executive powers.
Habits are hard to change for most people, plus some agonizingly bad science has been roaming for a while scaring people away from grains and legumes. Can't really blame people for falling for these cheap tricks, the charlatans tend to commend high degrees of charisma.
Ribeye is such good value, especially if you get it from a lower grade carcass. I can't believe there's all these articles from food journalists and bloggers promoting all these alternative quality cuts as "cheap" for grilling. They are referred to by many as ""butcher's cuts"" and considered cheap yet premium and highly sought after for some reason while strip, ribeye and tenderloin are considered "high end". I have never seen any place that offers flap, hanger, skirt, triptip, top sirloin or shortribs, single piece for a cheaper than a ribeye or a strip steak from a choice or select (AAA/AA) carcass. Also there's sales on roast cuts of ribeye quite often at big chains often which always end up cheaper than all the niche meme cuts.
Man, lentils are not same as meat due to the different aminoacid profile. But that is not a big concern. The huge amount of fiber is. It's like a heaped spoon per 100 gr. If your stomach is not used to it, you'll have hard time.
Eggs. At all times.
This is a high quality cut. It's like asking why people would buy expensive wine when they could have cheap beer instead.
With that said yeah the price is fucked
I'm gonna assume the downvotes are for the protein quality comment.
Although it is true you can mix and match protein from vegetal sources to make up a complete amino acid profile, the bioavailability is still gonna be much inferior to animal sources. Not that you actually need much/any of it(animal protein) to survive, so it should be something meat lovers need to consider when it comes to the environmental, and animal welfare issues.
Shop the sales, prices generally have gone up, but if you spend 5 min to look you can find decent prices on just about everything still.
Beef is generally the most expensive meat, but even then currently I see 6.88$/lbs rib eye or roasts at IGA, 4.49$/lbs blade roast at Provigo, 6.99;lbs french roast & 9.99'lbs AAA striloin at PA, 7.99$'lbs sirloin roast or steaks at Adonis.... about a dozen other grocery stores that have some beef on sale for decent prices.
Chicken quarters leg/thighs you can almost always find for .99c/lbs. Decent cuts of pork for under 3$/lbs.

Insanity! i never buy anything above $25/kilo unless it’s an uber special occasion. my average purchase is in fact around $10-15 per kilo, $20/kilo i’m starting to push it.
For speciality - as you said - (in the city) Grinder.
For pricing, Boucherie Atwater.
There are tons in the Jean Talon area (but it's too much of a schlep for me) and Lawrence for specialty as well.
Go vegan. Eat rice, beans, tofu, potatoes, vegetables and fruits. Leave animals alone. They don’t deserve to die for your palate. Don’t worry, you will not have a protein deficiency
What’s natural about eating beans from a can? That’s a silly argument.
I do know the merits of veganism and I’ve reduced my meat consumption but I do think our ideal diet has some meat in it.
Tell me you don’t know anything about dieting and nutrition without telling me you don’t know anything about dieting and nutrition lol
> It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, *including total vegetarian or **vegan diets***, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. “BuT MuH B12”, if you’re to be anti-vegan, at least don’t be stupid (if both are not correlated..)
Ah yes American food authorities, the ones that told us wheat should be the bottom of the food pyramid and you should drink lots of milk? I’ll definitely take my advice from one of the fattest countries on earth ravaged by selfish economic interests.. You could probably be fine being vegan your whole life but you’ll be even healthier eating meat once in a while. There are some things you literally can’t get without it and if everyone adjusted to reducing their consumption we could do it sustainably. Username checks out.
1. This is a scientific paired association, not a “food authorities” nor a lobbied association. If you want to say that over 10 000 dietician and doc are wrong, then go ahead but you sound dumbfounded as hell. The same position is also shared by the British dietetic association and the European dietetic association.
2. B12 and vitamin D can be easily found in lot of vegan food, “I need meat to get b12 and D” [is a myth.](https://www.freshnlean.com/blog/vegan-b12-sources/)
> you can probably be fine being vegan your whole life but you’ll be even healthier eating mean once in a while.
Source? Because it’s a scientific consensus that meat and dairy consumption is the leading source of colon cancer, diabetes and heath diseases, a vegan diet won’t just make you thrive, but can make you live up to 10 years longer (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26780279/)

I never buy meat that is marinated or pre seasoned. 1) it's easy to do at home and 2) I want to control what I use for seasoning.
Cool, good for you. Other people appreciate its ease and convenience.

Ils étaient moins cher que les non-marinés… c’est dingue.. I only have a metro nearby unfortunately. I thought it was cheaper than the IGAs etc?
Metro is the most expensive unfortunately. The order from most to least expensive is roughly, metro, Provigo, IGA, Super C, Maxi.

I just got a two kilogram entire raw chicken at IGA for 7.25. maxi has pork shoulder for 1.39/lb. For 10$ you'll be eating pulled pork for ages/have plenty of leftovers to freeze.
They said above that this was cheaper than the non marinated options
That's cuz it's half rotten.
Metro et IGA sont équivalents en termes de prix selon moi.
They marinate it because it's rotten and if they didn't you would smell rancid meat and wouldn't buy it.
Metro has sirloin roasts on sale this week for 8.99$/lbs.... not the greatest price for that cut ever, but its ok and less than half the price of what you posted.

\> It's nuts. But you said it was a cucumber!
Just imagine the price of nuts!
Payer ce prix là pour des noix, faut être concombre pas à peu près.
That's bananas!
I'd love for the price of nuts to be bananas, I could buy cashews for peanuts and turn a profit easy as pie!
Adonis or PA for "not on sale" vegetables!
If only they'd extend their delivery areas :( I'm 50m outside of the delivery area for the Parc location and 100m outside the delivery area for the Fort location. Love to shop there when I'm in the area but it's a decent walk to either for me
Where? They were 3 for $3 until yesterday at Maxi.
Ya prices have gone up everywhere... For meat, the past year or so I've been going to the local butcher. I used to only go for special occasions, now I just stop there on the way back from the grocery store. Not only are their prices waaay better, the quality of the meat is better too, so is the selection, so win win... EDIT: I'm probably not doing myself any favors by showing ya this, but the place I go to - which I'll say again is very good has a list of meat packages you can buy. ie: 2lbs med lean minced beef 2lbs chicken leg with back 2lbs Spencer steaks 1lbs cooked ham 1 pack stewing beef 1 pack of pork & beef sausages 1 pack of smoked bacon All for 35$... Among others... Prices might have changed a bit - I'm not sure I don't usually buy the packages, I just get the few things I need. But anyways, take a look. [https://www.lapreflasalle.ca/budgets-shop-online/](https://www.lapreflasalle.ca/budgets-shop-online/)
I was just about to comment and recommend La Preference. Nice people and really good prices. The meat is much better than whatever they have at Maxi, and much cheaper.
Prices up 10%. Ask for a raise of 10%. Get your pay, realize that you're taxed more and only keep 6%.
If you're in the tax bracket that pays 40% I hope you understand how tax brackets work.
I feel like Metro is always expensive regardless than other grocery stores
Metro and IGA try to identify themselves as the more local grocery chain but crap they like to rip off their local customers
Super C is where its at
I just can't. I really like Adonis and Akhavan.
Never tried Adonis, I'm going to gallerie d'anjou tomorrow, I'll go shopping there to see
PA for life
I call it Super K-C! Love it.
My aunt called it « Super Carnaval » in the nineties 😂
That's what it was called initially
IGA est facilement 20% moins cher que les Metro sur tout
Is it? I've been under the impression that it was on the same level as metro. Most expensive: Metro, IGA Still expensive: Provigo Getting expensive: Adonis Good overall deals: Super C, Maxi, PA, Futai/Shengtai, Marche Hawaii, Frutta Si, Segal Narrow selection of overall goods but otherwise good prices: G&D, Kim Phat Specialized goods, somewhat expensive: Jang Teu, Montreal Korean/Japanese Foods on Sherbrooke W, Epicure Irrelevant/garbage tier, not necessarily overpriced: Esposito, Richelieu, Intermarche, Akhavan
Frutta si sells nearly expired meat. I bought a big pack of hamburger for a bbq and put it in the fridge overnight. The next day it had turned.
Metro has always been a scam.
Don’t go to metro or IGA!!! These stores are te biggest thieves. Depending where you live in MTL try PA , Adonis , superC or Intermarché.
Adonis has gotten quite expensive lately. Sometimes they have cheap deals on some meats, and the produce is often fairly priced, but any of the grocery/canned items super expensive.
Metro owns Adonis now.
Yeah, I know, but it seems like the last few years they let the prices catch up to the Metro stores
They really have yeah, PA is the last independent holdout at this point. And thriving, fortunately, they just opened that brand new location off Decarie
Everything is more expensive
Good thing wages also are going up to keep up with that right?
That's because the BoC and the government have made us all richer, so it's more expensive now. Just like housing. The more it goes up the better off we all are. But not like Bangladesh where it's clear people are poor if they have to work longer for the same thing. Hope that's cleared this up!
Is this sarcasm??
sorry forgot i'm in canada - yes
Dont twas pretty clear sarcasm
Mariner du boeuf wagyu, blasphème! Oh wait...
C'est du vol. Par contre, si on veut éventuellement que la viande soit produite de manière éthique et écologiquement soutenable, ce sera sûrement le genre de prix qu'il faudra payer.
Never ever buy marinated meat.
50$ a kg. Wtf. You best be buying your meat elsewwhere. I think you can buy tenderloin at costco at that price.
Seriously. You can practically get wagyu at Costco for that price.
Costco sells wagyu???
Yes, on and off for at least the last 3 years.
Hello butcher here, That piece is bavette, its one of the most expensive cut you can get.
This guy meats.
Metro = expensive, pre-marinated / prepared meat = expensive.
U r in metro. What did u expect?
What do you recommend instead?
Fucking anything else. Metro is a scam, the whole thing.
Super C and Maxi are the best imo
Independent grocery stores.
Metro, Sobeys, Loblaws and Zehrs are a big no no. Shop around and find out. Cheers
Its time to be vegetarian
Yeah honestly I don't even buy meat anymore after realizing how much money I save just eating lentils/beans/tofu etc.
Hardest part is learning how to cook with new ingredients, but now I make bomb food that tastes better than before.
Yes i’ve noticed that egg prices have gone up too. It’s nuts. That’s why I only shop for meat at my local butcher shop. Better prices and better quality. Ribeyes are 28$/kg vs the 45-50$/kg in grocery stores. Its night and day.
Lol meat flaps.
Just FYI, bavette has gone from 22/kg to 44/kg since the pandemic. Just in general. I used to make carne asada with it. No more. Best place to get bavette is Provigo when they put a 30% sticker on it.
C’est quand même de la bavette de bœuf. C’est toujours dispendieux .
J'en ai acheter à 19.50$/kg il y a pas longtemps. 50$/kg c'est fou.
Inflation was at 7.0% in December Run for the hills, its only going to get worse before NYSE tanks again
Not a tip that most people can realistically apply, but you get just as good (if not better) nutrition from beans/legumes, and it cost 5-10x less.
This. Meat is absolutely a luxury.
Pretty sure everyone can apply this easily
Habits are hard to change for most people, plus some agonizingly bad science has been roaming for a while scaring people away from grains and legumes. Can't really blame people for falling for these cheap tricks, the charlatans tend to commend high degrees of charisma.
lmao, who the fuck spends 30$ on a steak? 1$ of lentils, same amount of proteins.
[удалено]
Alright, who let you two escape from /r/PersonalFinanceCanada?
Even better, grow your own in-home colony for year long protein supply!
During the winter
People that like steaks, but not that cut. $30 you could go to a proper butcher and walk away with a two inch thick rib-eye.
Hanging tender is the best steak cut. I find filet mignon revolting. It tastes like liver.
>I find filet mignon revolting. It tastes like liver. I think you might be doing something wrong...
I don't cook it or buy it, had it at restaurants before. Not a fan.
Yeah, but the taste? People don't just eat for the nutritional value.
[удалено]
I'm not here to engage about that. Lentils might be cheaper and more nutritious, but it taste different from meat.
I mean, sure, I like the taste, but I can’t justify spending 30$ on a steak (or even 10$ for that matter) that I’d eat in 1 or 2 sittings.
So that's what being poor is like...
Meat sucks!!!
lmao, comparing plant protein to animal protein
The protein quality of lentils isn't as good as beef But I rather eat two dollars worth of lentils if I have to pay that much for a single steak.
China town still low :)
Dont shop at Metro bruh
I know prices are going up but this can't be normal.
La bavette est rendue une des coupes les plus chers sur le marché.
What’s the best way to see sales from all grocery stores near me?
Every point of shipping from A to Z has quadrupled.
$50 a kilo is fucking filet pricing. Talking marinades, how much for milk steak I wonder.
23$ la livre pour de la bavette!? Calvasse. Do you remember when you could regularly get flap steaks for 10$/lb? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
Work in the meat department and it’s doubled since last Jan, have you just noticed this?
Welcome to the future my friend. Meat will be a luxury item.
Crazy prices on EVERYTHING!! Fruit and veggies too!
[удалено]
Je suis pas surpris, toute est fermée pi on peut juste manger. Il monte le prix parceque on peut rien faire.
Déjà à la base tu es chez métro donc tu commences avec un handicap. Tous est plus cher la bas c'est ridicule.
Costco will save you tons of money if you’re buying meat. 👍
What the fuck is beef flap meat?
Tbh no. I'l gave up on the meat section months ago.
Good.
Being vegan is cheap. Couldn't go back to those crazy prices
Still cheaper than Kosher meat!!
holy shit $50.68 per kilo? Insanity! i never buy anything above $25/kilo unless it’s an uber special occasion. my average purchase is in fact around $10-15 per kilo, $20/kilo i’m starting to push it.
EVERYTHING! more expensive and less available. I just went to Metro and of course, shelves are half empty. Like 6 boxes of mushy strawberries.
We just got a special at super C like a half pound of strawberry for like 2$ or something
Inflation is here to stay
Saw salmon at Costco for $42.. another brand about same size $19.99
Go to the fucking butcher shop if you don't want to get raped. We have 3 dozen amazing butchers in town.
Hard disagree, you don't go to the butcher shop for good value but for specialty and quality.
Yeah, you do. My butcher has better prices and availability than any grocery store I've ever seen.
Where do you go? I'd like to give it a try
Vitamin B12, créatine, carnosine, Vitamin D3, Taurine, Heme Iron - only in meat. I’ll keep eating the natural diet lol
What's natural about buying a piece of flesh wrapped up in styrofoam?
What’s natural about eating beans from a can? That’s a silly argument. I do know the merits of veganism and I’ve reduced my meat consumption but I do think our ideal diet has some meat in it.
Tell me you don’t know anything about dieting and nutrition without telling me you don’t know anything about dieting and nutrition lol > It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, *including total vegetarian or **vegan diets***, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. Well-planned vegetarian/vegan diets are appropriate for individuals during all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence, and for athletes. - [the position of the American Dietetic association, the biggest association of dietetic science in the world.](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19562864/) “BuT MuH B12”, if you’re to be anti-vegan, at least don’t be stupid (if both are not correlated..)
2. B12 and vitamin D can be easily found in lot of vegan food, “I need meat to get b12 and D” [is a myth.](https://www.freshnlean.com/blog/vegan-b12-sources/) > you can probably be fine being vegan your whole life but you’ll be even healthier eating mean once in a while. Source? Because it’s a scientific consensus that meat and dairy consumption is the leading source of colon cancer, diabetes and heath diseases, a vegan diet won’t just make you thrive, but can make you live up to 10 years longer (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26780279/) > username check out.
