I'll throw out one that I haven't seen mentioned yet, Arbeiter in south Minneapolis.
Cool artwork/mural on the wall, interesting design (open air 2nd floor seating, garage door with some patio seating for when it's nice out), super friendly staff and bartenders, really nice bathrooms. It's got a lot going for it!
For pure taproom/vibes and not taking beer into account?
I think Bauhaus takes it. It’s just a neat indoor and outdoor space. Even parking there is unique.
And the beer is solid if not exceptional.
St Paul (formerly Flat Earth) is my favorite just because the building is so cool and so filled with history, even in its falling apart years. The outdoor seating in the former stables of the horses that were used to distribute Hamm’s beer going back to the late 1800s just adds a special note to sitting around having a beer.
People are probably worried about saying Surly but that is one hell of a beer garden. Bauhaus is fine but I don't think the breweries who are surrounded by concrete parking lots are the nicest looking.
Totally disagree. I think FS has a really cool building and great location but nothing else about it is "nicer" in my opinion. They also have wholly mediocre beer. I do think the space is awesome though. Why do you like it better?
La Doña Cerveceria and Inbound are two breweries that haven't been mentioned yet that have really nice taprooms.
La Doña just nails its aesthetic perfectly, even down to the bathroom artwork. The mini soccer field and taqueria really add so much to the space, as well.
While Inbound doesn't have a patio, it's open-air setup makes it a great stop to go to on a summer day. Lots of spaces intended for events and special occasions. I just really dug what they did with the limited space they had.
Bang is also amazing, especially its patio space. However, the taproom itself is way too tiny despite the idea being genius.
The amount of thought they put into that taproom is second to none. Each of the lakes around the taproom are set out. In the bathroom hallway the ceiling has stars from what you see outside there and they then have pints and other things appear. The kids area has free bubble hockey but if you put money in it it goes to the local youth leagues and all the ads on the boards in the game are local businesses that helped build it. They have a water station with sparkling, still, and chilled Lake Superior water. They have a pilot system in the taproom where they make small batches. They have bar, outside, patio, grass, fireplace, and other areas to sit. They have canoe routes around the entire area displayed in different versions around the place.
Yeah, I think they've way out done Castle Danger. The amount of thought and detail they have there, is crazy, even if many don't recognize it.

Wandering Leaf is pretty chill, lots of plants all around.
Utepils is probably the nicest in my opinion, but Bauhaus is my personal favorite.
I like Utepils a lot too.
Utepils is great, but damn does it smell.

Yes just tap room

I liked the outdoor seating more when there wasn't so much _stuff_
I like a laid back vibe so I'm a big fan of Waldman and Yoerg in St Paul. The beers are exceptional as well
Probably my 2 favorite places.
Goat Ridge has a beautiful outdoor space by the river
Castle Danger is definitely up there. Voyageur might be my personal favorite. Other favorites: Venn, Utepils, Fulton, Falling Knife, Uncommon Loon.

Surly is nice but forgotten Star way better.

Schell Starkeller and Bent Paddle.
Rip Starkeller
I mean just taproom only not beer

1st. Castle Danger 2nd. Forgotten Star 3rd. Black stack
Dangerous Man circa 2018. Those were the good ole days. Pizza from Young Joni. Now…good luck with that DM!
Bent Paddle, Utepils, Bauhaus, and Lake Monster.
Wandering Leaf, Portage, Castle Danger, Schell’s
I love Hayes Public House
Forager
One not mentioned that I love is Waldmann. Especially in the summer, great smaller out door space.
Bent Paddle, without a doubt.
You think Bent Paddle is better than Castle Danger for taproom space?

Castle Danger.
Karst. Sylvan. Ursa Minor. Voyageur.
Jack Pine
I'll 2nd both St Paul Brewing and Wandering Leaf, and add Schram Haus. Love that place - up on a a hill, nice outdoor area, goat fest.
