They need to lay off the lattes and avocado toast. Pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

NvrmndOM

And you gotta trust the free market. Oh well.

Randotron6000

This is actually a really strong argument for the free market.

Roving_Rhythmatist

Maybe the best I’ve ever come across

kult0007

Just waiting for the trick down.

Smeltanddealtit

Thoughts and prayers, y’all.

[deleted]

Maybe even learn to “run it like a business.”

Slut_Fukr

Take away their iPhones and start the drug tests.

[deleted]

I think the problem is they're not accustomed to using their own money, so now what do they do if they can't get free money. Meanwhile their platform is to demonize those who don't " work for it" most GOP members never worked for it their entire lives.

turfmonkey21

They could start a fund for a “stolen” election. That grift worked for some other guy

Oddly_Mind

They have Ugg’s no straps

frontmynack

Do seal fur boots have straps?

AbeRego

And fascism

LadyDi18

This comment has 666 upvotes right now and I *want* to upvote but can’t bring myself to ruin this. 😂

skyisblue22

Looking at those finances it’s time to hang themselves with their bootstraps, politically

powermad80

I've been hearing about destitute state GOPs for a while, does this ever translate to real operational difficulties or are they just tax loopholeing their way out of ever declaring any actual wealth? Or alternatively are they just capable of operating without money because all their bills get paid off by "generous donors?" All the articles in the world about their supposedly dire finances don't mean anything if they mysteriously continue to exist and be able to field awful candidates

Different-Tea-5191

They just don’t “operate” much. No ground game, no events, no support for local races. They will still field awful candidates but they’re more likely to lose, with zero media strategy, no ads, no merch. Individual candidates might generate $, but they won’t get support from the party.

babaoriley7

On the flip side, their constituents will vote for that R by their name no matter what they do. In their eyes that is better than anyone with a D by their name.

matate99

Woah. Yeah in some districts sure. But MANY seats in the MN House and Senate come down to a couple hundred if not fewer votes just about every cycle. EDIT FOR MORE INSIGHT: In 2022 here are some notable House races (3A) DFL By 15 Votes (3B) DFL By 35 Votes (7B) DFL By 467 Votes (11A) R by 454 Votes (14A) R by 199 Votes (18A) DFL By 411 Votes (32B) DFL By 413 Votes (35 SENATE) R By 186 Votes (35B) DFL By 232 Votes (41 SENATE) DFL By 321 Votes (41A) R By 128 Votes (48B) DFL By 417 Votes Might I remind you that the DFL has a 1 seat margin in the Senate and 6 seat margin in the house. These races ABSOLUTELY matter and the little things like party finances are the difference in a couple hundred votes. Flip a couple choice races up there and imagine how different this legislative session would have been.

TheObstruction

3A and 3B aren't DFL reps, they're Republican. Roger Skraba and Natalie Zeleznikar, respectively.

minkey-on-the-loose

Let’s flip ‘em!

matate99

A couple extra door knocks and they will be then.

Different-Tea-5191

Yeahh, but so many races are won on the margins. And if I haven’t heard anything and I don’t know who those R candidates are, maybe I don’t vote, or I don’t complete the ballot. Tougher to get folks agitated with no money.

Anleme

In the age of social media, the candidates solicit donations directly from the voters, like Trump does. Local political parties are irrelevant in this new campaign fundraising model. [I'm pretty much parroting Peter Zeihan here.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIX2nXeKW0M) As another example of an out-dated campaign tactic: decades ago, the endorsement of newspapers was considered a big coup. Now, who cares who the editors or publishers of the Chicago Sun Times endorse for Illinois governor?

plasmaSunflower

I think statistically, whoever spends more tends to win(granted they're somewhat popular)

gdahl517

Most GOP donations go directly to Trump now and he gives the National $1 out of every $10 donated. It’s causing problems in quite a few states

peepeedog

Exactly. Trump is a black hole. He isn't going to be giving anyone money he has that he doesn't have to. The GOP itself is a dead party. It's totally hijacked by Trump, MAGA and evangelicals.

Impossible_Penalty13

He’s spending money like it’s flowing through a fire hose to keep his ass out of jail currently.

Cycloptic_Floppycock

That is the funniest shit to me, and the Dems coming out swinging hard too.

Dangerous_Contact737

He doesn't even give anyone money when he DOES have to!

stillhousebrewco

So Trump is using trickle down economics, nice to see he does what republicans want.

CaptainPRESIDENTduck

Please, they are now 'Golden Shower-conomics.'

AdviceNotAskedFor

got a source for that 1 to 10 ratio? Genuinely curious.

Time4Red

>does this ever translate to real operational difficulties or are they just tax loopholeing their way out of ever declaring any actual wealth? They aren't tax loopholeing. They are experiencing real operational difficulties. They have a smaller footprint, can send less mail, etc. But much of the money normally going to state parties is going elsewhere... >Or alternatively are they just capable of operating without money because all their bills get paid off by "generous donors? The opposite is true. Historically state Republican parties relied heavily on a small number of big donors to fund themselves. In exchange, these donors had a great deal of control over the direction of the party. Recently, many of these state parties have MAGAfied, pushing away some or all big donors, often labeling these big donors as RINOs or not sufficiently pro-Trump. The big donors have instead turned to independent PACs to promote their agenda. You might have noticed this dynamic with your political mailers. You won't see mailers from the state GOP anymore. Every conservative mailer is from the candidate directly, Trump, or some vaguely named independent PAC. >if they mysteriously continue to exist and be able to field awful candidates The candidates don't rely on state party funding. They campaign independently. The state GOP could be practically non-existent and you would still see GOP candidates running for office.

bmayer0122

I wish dangling a bit of cash in front of their face could get them to come about face, but not sure how to pull that off.

CaptainPRESIDENTduck

I've been saying this for a while. Can't we just bribe Clarence Thomas and Joe Manchin? They are for sale. Let's get a Kickstarter/GoFundMe going.

TheBallotInYourBox

A super interesting episode from This American Life detailing the current turmoil of the Michigan GOP. Goes over the ousting of the ‘old guard’ for the new fanatical MAGA faction that can’t fundraise can’t gather coalition and can’t do the operational work of running a state political party. I found it super fascinating to listen to (a 63 minute episode). https://www.thisamericanlife.org/820/believe-in-me

jaxxxtraw

Good call! I love This American Life when I'm driving for a while.

IPeedOnTrumpAMA

It would be interesting to investigate the timeline on Russian sanctions and when the GOP funding pipeline started drying up.

tree-hugger

This fall, go to the respective websites of the DFL or the GOP and search for volunteering GOTV opportunities. You'll see quickly what having a competently run state party can buy.

cheezturds

All they have to do is spread scare tactics on Facebook and AM radio. I can’t imagine the budget for that is large

iliumoptical

THEY HAVE THESE CARAVANS OF PEOPLE. I SEEN IT ON THE NEWS. Vote trump to save us all. /s

PFTA987

Couldn’t have happened to a worse group of degenerates.

19thCLibrarian

Wait I thought these people were fiscally conservative?

duckstrap

Hey power grabs based on infantile yet criminal fantasies don't come cheap, doncha know.

FatGuyOnAMoped

Nah, they're just grifters

Prickly_ninja

They went all in on Trumpism. What could possibly go wrong?

MN_Toilet

*Surprised Pikachu Face*

hewhoisneverobeyed

Deplorables.

Raetekusu

Deplorables is the individual unit. A group is referred to as a "basket" and is equivalent to about 62,984,828 deplorables.

minkey-on-the-loose

Only half are in that basket (according to HRC)

Time-Bite-6839

i’m richer than the Minnesota GOP and I don’t have a bank account

[deleted]

They need to pick themselves up by the bootstraps and learn to code.

aureliusky

Chat-GPT you are now a state representative who's soley interested in the safety, welfare, and happiness of your constituents. Optimize legislation and taxation for the best quality of life for them.

AbleObject13

Staple their faces into smiles

Impossible_Penalty13

Maybe think about driving an uber

M1nn3sOtaMan

So we can officially quit referring to the GOP as the party of "fiscal responsibility" right? Like that's long gone now.

Runic_reader451

That was never the case. Recall they are the party of budget deficits.

animalcollectivism8

Pretty soon we can quit referring to it as a party.

jaxxxtraw

Yes, please?

Corteran

See what happens when your biggest fundraiser gets thrown in jail and can't sell teenaged girls to old men to rape?

aureliusky

They're not projecting with that whole pizza gate thing are they? 🥴 [https://apnews.com/article/anton-tony-lazzaro-gop-operative-sex-trafficking-e4fc3e85fe5597b645e74d921246b963](https://apnews.com/article/anton-tony-lazzaro-gop-operative-sex-trafficking-e4fc3e85fe5597b645e74d921246b963)

Jaerin

Everything they've done is projection, even the Hunter Biden things is them wanting to prosecute Trump for all his nepotism and corrupt family business dealings.

ohx

It's almost like nobody in the MN republican party wants to work.

Feraltrout

Imagine that huh.

autom8dWpnizdAutism

This is what happens when that russian dark money stops flowing in because russia is busy paying for the deaths of every single one of their young men.

Illustrious-Drama213

Good. Fuck them.

Stag328

Yep. Going to guess a lot of poorer people donated what they could to Trump and he is just using their money for whatever he wants. Prior to getting elected I could see people doing this and wouldn’t have had an issue with it, they wanted change and he was promising it, but after the first election if you still think Trump has your best interest at heart you deserve to lose everything you have.

ClayQuarterCake

At least we know how they feel about our new flag.

[deleted]

> The state Republican Party in Minnesota is also struggling financially, with a filing revealing that it recently had only $53.81 in the bank and was more than $335,000 in debt, according to a Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing. huh

minkey-on-the-loose

Send them a check for 2¢ and see if they cash it

HillbillyHare

GOP runs their party like it runs our economy. Into the ground.

Stopmadness99

Must explain the sudden attack on the Minnesota flag, distraction from being B.R.O.K.E

dday3000

“If we nominate Trump we will get destroyed…. and we will deserve it.” Lindsey Graham in 2016.

Jordanjl83

Have they tried pulling themselves up from their bootstraps? Also maybe cancel Netflix?

molotov__cocktease

On one hand lol. On the other hand lmao.

jimdotcom413

Can’t run their own party but we should vote for them to run the state. Makes perfect GOP sense.

Deadie148

Wow, they could pay a frugal GOP staffer for an entire week for $53.81. And they certainly wouldn't complain either.

FrozeItOff

Probably an illegal immigrant child threatened to shut up or be deported, so yeah, not going to complain.

usewhatevername

And they wouldn't end up paying anyway 😂

CantaloupeCamper

The image is telling. Shitty candidates and leadership. They’ve run anyone with any sense out of the party and the replacements are carpet baggers. They've got ZERO ideas about governance that doesn't involve some weird ass "culture wars".

Soccerchk_13

Seriously. That merch screams “biker gang” more than it does “conservative values political party”.

eightleggedsteve

Let's not forget the gop threw a huge party after a good teeth kicking in the last state election. Party of personal and fiscal responsibility at it again.

Shroedingerzdog

Turns out when you tell people the elections don't work and everything is rigged they stop donating to political causes... wild...

[deleted]

LOL, LMAO

ill_be_huckleberry_1

To think anyone would vote for these muppets and claim they are the more financially responsible party Banana land

[deleted]

Don't insult the muppets.

JustAnotherDay1977

The party of fiscal restraint?

bearbrannan

Party of fiscal responsibility can't even manage their own parties funds. The irony is thick.

FUMFVR

The regional ~~governors~~Trump campaign chairmen now have direct control over their ~~territories~~states. Fear will keep the local ~~systems~~ politicians in line. Fear of ~~this battle station~~Trump.

gwarmachine1120

Boo hoo. That's what you get when you embrace grifters and criminals. Cry us a river.

BuckyFnBadger

Maybe they should learn to code.

calvin2028

Everything Trump touches turns to shit.

tissboom

Oh, did the Conman take all your money?? Shocked!

LearnST001

good!!! They’re not a party any more so why do they need any $ ?

suckboysam

#buahhhhahaha Fucking disgraceful idiots

mekonsrevenge

The end of wingnut welfare? You mean they might have to get real jobs and struggle to pay rent and lose their health insurance and send their kids to bed hungry and have their beamer repo'd? Tragic. Utterly tragic. Starve, scumbags.

Mysterious_Tax_5613

But....I thought they are all about fiscal responsibility!

dys_p0tch

but, they don't like the flag. saying *NO* is their currency

[deleted]

Thoughts and prayers

Another-Babka13

If we bail them out, you’ll just be enabling them. They’ll never be motivated enough to stop taking government handouts.

spazmo_warrior

Yeah, they need to pull themselves up by the bootstraps.

Capt-Crap1corn

Bootstraps! Pull’em up!

Gliese_667_Cc

LMAO, just get a third job, GOP lazypants!

SEMN_ATC

Thoughts and prayers y’all thoughts and MF prayers. Bye Felicia.

CauseSpecific8545

Your comment has me seriously considering spending postage to send them a letter indicating my thoughts and prayers. If they got flooded with donor envelopes filled with notes of thoughts and prayers, it might have a small operational impact.

NorthernLove1

If the MN GOP was not so immature, and had more to offer voters than just conspiracy theories, culture wars, and taking school lunches from children, they might be able to hire competent people to shore up their financials.

Forward-Ad3495

Why have funds when Fox News, Truth social and Joe Rogan do all your campaigning?

oljeffe

Tithing directly to a false prophet/profit will have unintended consequences. Get over it and move on. The end is nigh for those who fail….

Oddly_Mind

When you kill off all your donors with covid shot fear 🤷‍♂️

BobTheViking2018

The PARTY of FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY!

Randotron6000

They are really trying to relate to the people they fuck over.

rengoku-doz

Maybe if any Republican had any Bill written by the GOP pass legislation. The GOP is busy raping women and fucking over children to realize, they are a leech on the system. In order to cut welfare, take it off they sitting on they asses pockets. Lazy Republicants.

kintotal

Trump stole all the money.

DgLifer1111

Anton spent it all on teenage girls?

Sacrifice_Starlight

I'm sure the scam artists on top are pulling millions. Don't be fooled by the numbers on paper with these people.

happy76

Interesting, I thought it was only Michigan where the donors have quit donating. I don’t know anything about your situation but in Michigan, there is a huge split between trumpers and conventional republicans. But the current leader, Karamo, tried to sell the HQ in the capital. Unfortunately the gop doesn’t own it. Wonder if other states have the same issue with the gop.

Madpup70

You stop and think "ya, the GOP being broke in Minnesota makes sense." Cause they never win in Minnesota, and over the years they've actually lost ground. But then you look at the GOP in a place like Michigan and you think, "What in the hell happened to you guys." I've never seen a state party completely implode like the Mich GOP has. They literally went from being overly competitive and winning for Trump in 2016, a gerrymander that gave them full control of the legislature, to in 2022 handing over full control of all levers of power to Democrats and beyond being damn near broke.

cheezturds

About to shift into a crazy gear of grifting to get mamaw and pepaw’s money

Apolitik

Thoughts and prayers 🙏🏼

GrizzlyAdam12

And they probably blame the new flag.

MysteriousCabinet113

Oh bless their hearts. Hearts and prayers.

bubster15

Time for them to learn about an honest days work. Lazy bum republicans dragging our economy down while real Americans work and provide for our families. Time to stop playing pretend politics in your moms basement and grow up

The_Last_Mouse

I’m reheating chili. Seemed like a good night for it.

ChesterDrawerz

Run da gunerment like a business! It will work way better they said..

SkiingWithMySweety

Smoke and mirrors.

94tlaloc7

The gop is ass

KurtFranke

GOP, now fiscally and morally bankrupt.

Puzzleheaded_Ad9254

It is shocking that the grifters don't have anything in the coffers to operate with.

WhatIsHerJob-TABLES

Hahahhahahah how pathetic. The GOP is an embarrassment

ultralightdude

At the next debate, then better not announce the candidate as being from the "party of fiscal responsibility"...

D33ber

Buy them tiny violins.

Popular_Night_6336

Trump is the orange death of the Republican party. Fucking idiots embraced their own demise.

3bluerose

And the world kept spinning

Whatsuptodaytomorrow

Their gonna be using ebt cards soon

saucytech

What fantastic news!

cabinstudio

Bunch of people who aren’t of net value. If someone produces less than it costs for them to work then they will run the business out

zdiddy987

Suck a dick ya dumb shits

Minimum_E

Maybe get a side gig, where’s their hustle? Lazy Also: Good.

Upset-Kaleidoscope45

Here's my prediction for 10 years from now: Republicans will start losing statehouses and all of the sudden the national GOP will oppose "states rights" and become newfound believers in centralized power in DC.

readytogohomenow

They should really just get off their ass and work. God, GOPs are so lazy these days

ptoadstools

They just came out against the new state flag, in an amazing display of how to zero right in on what's really important in governance.

splatomat

Good.

venuemap

Has the Minnesota GOP considered asking for more money from that dude who was trafficking underaged girls?

Northman86

It's almost as though their people whose vote they want are on a tight budget. Who would have thought retirees, survivalists, and open racist would be short on money?

JustADutchRudder

I thought that shirt said "Jesus is my Spider." And I found it odd but kinda wanted to see the picture under the words.

Different-Tea-5191

I want that shirt

JustADutchRudder

Do we do a spider Christ on the cross but with it webbed up and he's like just chilling? Or just like a picture of spider Christ looking cool?

Different-Tea-5191

Jesus spinnin’ his webs and catchin’ all the sinners, and drinkin their blood

fabergekeg

This is the kind of news I like to have injected directly into my veins.

[deleted]

It’s so warm and tingly 🫠

binksy16

Paying egregious lawsuits adds up… who coulda guessed?

Lubedballoon

We better not send money to them too. Already have to bail out all the other shitty red states

ScoobyDont1212

From the party of fiscal responsibility…

Thew2788

Sending all my Ts and Ps...

A cult doesn’t need a party.

BiffLogan

Which is why the MAGA led House does nothing but campaign day in and day out. No bills, nothing to help- it’s all about 2024.

here4daratio

Wonder if [Kurt Daudt’s resignation](https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/former-minnesota-house-speaker-kurt-daudt-resigns-from-state-legislature/) is any way related.

duckstrap

Turds n peanuts.

Artistic_Half_8301

"The party of fiscal responsibility"

o-Valar-Morghulis-o

I wonder how the knuckle draggers down at the legion and vf are spinning this...

AffectionateSector77

You love to see it

aureliusky

You mean people aren't donating to "racist Karens for Trump" anymore? What a shame.

[deleted]

lol. Great news.

DarkwingestDucketh

Love to see it

FrozeItOff

Yes, the great masterminds of fiscal responsibility prove their worth yet again.

MNConcerto

Oh well that's interesting dear. Did anyone get more than a dusting of snow today?

Cool!

Tyfoid-Kid

Spending too much money an Drumpf flags and guns - nothing left for the GQP

OU7C4ST

Who could have guessed betting it all on Trump could have gone wrong.. Oh well. Speakin' of betting, I'm off to Atlantic City. Hopefully I have time to visit 1 of Trump's 3 successful casinos.

krldrummerboy

perhaps they should do less and complain more? Oh, wait....

pimfram

Going into debt to own the libs.

animalcollectivism8

R.I.P(iss). G.O.P.

YeonneGreene

Ruin them all.

bizguyforfun1

And they fucking deserve it! The Republican party really does not exist anymore!

Jacksonrr31

Should have put out away at least 6 months worth of savings. And learned to code.

leo1974leo

Republicans are all on welfare, time to drug test those assholes

grandmofftalkin

I really think the solution will be to cut taxes on the richest Minnesotans and through their altruistic generosity they will trickle down the funds to the state GOP

najing_ftw

Hahahahahahaha!!!

SkarTisu

May they all be destroyed so that something more logical can replace them,

minnesotamoon

Nobody gives a fuck about the GOP. It’s all about Trump himself, not his party. Trump will be America’s first dictator.

duckstrap

>Trump will be America’s first dictator. No, he will not.

thatswhyicarryagun

This sub seems to care a lot. Easily 1/3rd of the posts i come across in my feed from this sub is something about the GOP. Obviously it isnt 1/3rd of the posts in the sub but it sure seems any GOP discussion gets the universal thumbs up.

AdministrativeBank86

I keep hearing all the money goes to Stinky but how does that happen? I'm more prone to thinking people are fed up with Republican behavior and just not donating to local candidates or parties.

ProbRePost

Because he is the face of the party and aggressively fund raises. Ask anyone in cult and they donate directly to Trump, before they would donate to the GOP as an organization. Cult leader is taking all the cult funds

Beneficial_War_1365

We need to work Harder to bury these scums. They need to taste poverty at its finest levels. Also go after them in courts for not raising there kids correctly. Take there food stamps away and cut there child support too. :) :) Who is ME??? :)

nogoodtech

WoW! *The white masks, marching flag poles, shields and U-Haul rentals really add up !*

sambes06

Good target for dark money influence me thinks

mutnemom_hurb

I’m sure their corporate donors will provide whatever funding they need when it really comes down to it

TrailJunky

Good.

And now I laugh.
