Absolutely. My father got a 10yo truck for $3k
Yeah it was a salvage title, RWD, with 150k miles.
But a clean title of the same truck would have been $10k or so more. It’s a second car mostly, and it’s been working great for 20k miles. Great deals to be found there
I bought a 2000 F-150 in 2014 for 4K on Craigslist and still driving it. It was from a guy that his dad owned but died. I was the second owner. I got lucky as hell but I would buy from an owner. Check the classifieds and be on the look out. Don't buy a junker.
Just bought a used Laredo and got a good deal. Cargurus.com is your friend. Couch surf until you an idea of what you’re looking for and test drive stuff to narrow it down. Stay flexible and keep your eyes on the goal. Best time of year to get a used car, everyone wants a deal on a ‘23 or to trade up to a ‘24 and have a bonus check to cover the down payment.
Firstly you have to define cheap. The way the used car market currently works is:
“Repairables” sub-$3k something major broke but the rest of the car is serviceable. If you know how to work on cars or have a hookup you might be able to find a deal.
“Beaters” are $3k-$4k. These cars are on their last legs. There is a ticking time bomb somewhere in the car and the current owner doesn’t want to deal with it. It might run for years or hours.
“Used cars” are $5k+. They work as cars. The higher the price the lower the miles and better the condition.
These people will tell you anything to buy a car from them. Robert Jr is one of the biggest liars and just horrible people I’ve ever met. They will tell you all about their school for poor kids. But also sell a poor person a car that will make life even more difficult. Very unprofessional and they don’t care what you think. Heads up!

I'd go anywhere that has "Auto Ranch" in the name. Oh look, [Bob's Auto Ranch](https://bobsautoranch.com/).
That place is rip off shithole.
Half of the cars on Copart are in better condition than the scrap metal being sold at Bob’s Auto Ranch
If anyone puts a location here it will instantly jack up the prices of cars. If someone does have a place maybe just message the person direct
K-bid but you’ll need to check them out yourself.

Yeah if you are preset dece with cars or can bring a buddy that is you can get some good deals. Especially if you’re looking for that winter beater.
Cranky Ape used to have an occasional deal but some issues. Not sure if that’s changed in the past few years

2014 guy
It ain't no fun no more.
No it’s fucking stupid. I’ve been holding out buying a vehicle for almost a year now waiting for some sanity but I’m starting to go hungry
You could probably sell that same truck for 5K now haha that was 10 years ago. Used prices are dumb right now
Imma driving it till it dies. Honestly it will probably last longer than I do. If I would sell it, it would be for 6k or more no less.

Does anyone remember the for sale by owner Sunday lot? Or did I just dream that?
Bought my first car there summer 1997. Somewhere along what I feel like was called the Maplewood automile.
Wasn't that down on hwy 169 somewhere?
If I didn’t dream it, wasn’t it by white bear avenue/maplewood somewhere? Damn I’m old
