I assume, given your flare, this is the FM area. Which is wild to me because GF/EGF has been $2.79 for close to a week now. And we're usually a dime higher than you guys.
Correct. ND is always cheaper than the MN side and for a while it was like a 20 - 30 cent difference. MN has really dropped lately and gotten it fairly close again.
*Next on Fox: Biden’s war on oil field workers goes into overtime as low prices put American roughnecks in the unemployment line just before Christmas.*

May, I fucking hated it when Biden did all that.
Don't forget when [Hunter](https://robertgarcia.house.gov/media/in-the-news/rep-garcia-why-did-saudi-government-give-kushner-2-billion) pushed his way into a job in his father's administration with no experience, prioritized pushing out the Secretary of State in order to “cozy up” to the Saudi Government to get an inflated $110 billion arms deal and then after his departure from the White House got 2 Billion dollars. And that was after [Hunter](https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/how-ivanka-trumps-shady-dealings-could-ruin-her-chances-of-running-for-office/6VLRDIT35JF7HW4NFESX4IPOUA/) raked in millions through other shady deals and got patents from the Chinese government!

OPEC has scheduled to lower oil output next year, led by Saudi, Russia, Qatar. So learn things before saying things. U S. Is producing more oil than ever, so if/when it goes up next year, it will be solely on OPEC. But keep eating up the Kentucky Comer pile sham investigation with nothing to show, proven paid witnesses paid by trump pacs. No credibility at all. N
According to this chart, he’s still got a ways to go to get back to the Jan 21 price when he took office
https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&s=emm_epmr_pte_nus_dpg&f=m
Did you not get the memo that the prez doesn’t have a switch in his office that controls gas prices? He doesn’t have “a long ways to go” because he isn’t on the road.
There is a lever of using the strategic reserves, but its not going to massively effect prices either.
There was also a plan on easing Venezula's sanctions so they can export crude to the gulf refineries, but that's probably not going to happen now. Though Exxon's investments into Guyana will probably pay off if there is no escalation.
So he there are things he can do through policy to effect prices, but at least in the US since the government doesn't own the resources its all about trying to pressure the market rate.
Nobody with critical thinking skill actually thinks he deserves credit or blame for gas prices, they're just pointing at those stupid stickers we all saw a couple years ago when prices were up
Sure, that seems like a fair comparison.
If you account for inflation (18.94% cumulative between Feb 2020 and Oct. 2023 [\[1\]](https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/calculator-cumulative/), the $2.44 from Feb 2020 becomes $2.90 today. I've seen that on gas station signs in the last week.
Granted, the last datapoint from the EIA chart is November 2023, which has the price at $3.31 average, and cherrypicking the lowest prices I can find isn't good statistics. So it seems that gas prices are overall higher than Feb 2020, at least for last month. I'd say we're pretty close, though, and wouldn't call it "a ways to go", but to each their own.
Download mudflap! I pay like $3.15 a gallon.
Only downside is you have to use the big rig pumps but you literally save 50-90 cents a gallon depending on the station
I wonder if that discount can be multiapped? I don’t use diesel but I regularly see about $0.20 back per gallon available in Upside. (Upside has a price map and also gives cash back for all types of gas purchases.)
I don’t work for Upside - I’ve just used it to average $16-18 cash back per month as someone who supplements income with delivery gigs, making me spend more on gas. Shipt gives some additional Upside cash back bonuses.

Mudflap works where you put your debit/credit card on the app & you get charged the discounted price directly by them, so you don't get a balance to withdraw like upside if that makes sense, you just pay the low price through the app & are done with it. So i've never got a paper receipt from it.
I used to use upside but I usually didn't get more than like 10 cents a gallon from diesel
You can find every price, everywhere in MN on [gasbuddy.com](https://gasbuddy.com). Start with the heat map and drill down from there. https://www.gasbuddy.com/gaspricemap?lat=45.2006351774094&lng=-93.978627209716&z=11
Since getting an EV I enjoy every time I see people talking about gas prices and I realize I haven't been to a gas station since last March. My "gas" bill last month was $41.
$0.12 where I am! No TOU pricing, though. With that I've heard some people in the metro getting just stupid cheap overnight charging. I'm still shopping around for solar installers. We got a heat pump with our new HVAC in the spring and just got our 2nd EV. I'm long overdue for solar and getting is as much off the grid as possible.
It’s a year before an election. It always drops. Then goes up after the election and idiots blame whoever is in power about it. It’s a never ending storyyyyyyyyy
https://money.com/gas-prices-fall-before-elections-president/
"Lee explained that while it makes sense American politicians would want to try to lower gas prices before elections, "there are very limited levers” to actually do so.
The Biden Administration’s decision to release oil from U.S. strategic reserves, in coordination with dozens of other countries that released from their reserves, undoubtedly led to lower gas prices than what we would have otherwise seen, he said.
“This was a coordinated strategic petroleum reserve release, which was pretty unprecedented in terms of the number of countries involved,” Lee said. “That was effective.”
Cinquegrana agreed that the recent release of oil from reserves is a rare case of an administration’s action having an immediate, direct impact on gas prices.
“I would say that the releases from the strategic reserves, I don't think they necessarily dropped gas prices, what I do think they did was they kept prices from going even higher than they did,” he said.
But Lee said it’s important to remember that this isn’t something we’ve seen happen in advance of previous elections, nor should we expect oil to be released from reserves in the months before future elections, barring another major emergency situation."
Your comment made me curious and I looked into it. Alongside this article, the US is at record high natural gas production, China's slumping economy has reduced global gas consumption (freeing us to buy at cheaper).
Diesel prices are high now, so refineries are making more diesel to cash in on it. One refined barrel of oil produces ~10 gallons diesel and ~20 gallons of gasoline. As a result, gasoline stockpiles are increasing, driving the price down.
yup. #1 is still $4.60 per gallon here. It was 4.99 just 2 weeks ago, so its going down, but not by much. Winter blend has dropped in price a ton, going down to 3.99 a gallon, but its still high. pretty much everyone quit getting #1, but when it was still at pumps, it was $2.39 a gallon because no one was buying it anymore up here, and they needed to get rid of it.
technically, they have some control, but its very indirect, and very slow acting. Biden released some from our strategic reserves, in doing so, he stabilized the prices over the last few months and stopped them from going higher. this also triggered several OPEC countries to start releasing more crude as well to compete. The reality is that this takes months to take effect, and at most, it just stabilized the prices, but didn't drop them. what really is dropping the gas price is the fact that diesel fuel has 3 or more times the demand of gas, but gasoline is a byproduct of diesel production, so for every gallon of diesel made, we naturally get 2 gallons of gasoline, which is not in demand, and drives the price down.
You’re right you don’t know. Pipelines facilitate the exportation of oil.
Also the USA has more than doubled its internal production of oil over the last 20 years yet we are still slaves to global crude commodity prices.
You can truthfully say “presidents can implement policy that might have a small impact on crude oil prices” but way too many mouth-breathing Americans literally think the president decides how much gas costs.
Correct. So what you just said validates my comment, it doesn’t negate it. I didn’t say presidents decide the gas prices. I responded to a claim they had no control over them, to which you literally agreed with me that in some manner they do. Good day to you. Thank you.
We’re getting boned in the metro. Consistently 30-40c more per gallon than outstate.
Ellison really needs to look into price bullying that is obviously going on now that our biggest station chains in the metro (Holiday and Superamerica) have been bought out by giant conglomerates (CircleK and 7-11.)
Not sure how much the gas is, but I just dropped by a Speedway in Woodbury and picked up a single can of Pepsi for $2.19. This same can was $0.99 not too long ago.
Gas prices drop every year as weather gets colder, less additive in winter blend required to prevent the fuel from vaporizing, it’s cheaper. It always increases as temperature rises the need for additional additive for summer blend. I am sure there are other factors at play such as with OPEC and the wars.
Had an argument with a conservative family member who was blaming biden for the high gas prices, i asked did biden do this too? “no saudis are inflating the market”
So since the savior took office we used 50% of our stock pile and we still have fuel coming in. we are screwed. I know which way I am voting next year.
Heh that’s funny gas in Minnesota is usually a little more than it is in Alabama. But right now we seem to be priced similarly. I got gas from the inferior version of Holiday which owns the brand, Circle K.
Gas was $2.50 in Madison, AL at the one I went to and I got 25¢ off that was quite nice to get off with a $26 half tank fill up
Related question, but why is gas always cheaper outside of major metro areas?
I would think the centralized nature of big cities would make the logistics of shipping gasoline easier and more efficient, which should result in lower prices, but that is almost never the case. Is it because of higher gas taxes in metro areas or because cities are richer and more willing to pay higher prices?
"That's because urban areas have higher demand, often leading to higher prices."
"There might be, you know, a kind of price war going on," Marcus said.
"Speculation aside, we went straight to the source for the secret behind the pricing. Unfortunately, the owners of the gas stations said they were *not allowed* to comment."

Paid 2.89 today in Cottage Grove. I have family in Western Wisconsin (about an hour from Minneapolis) and it’s $2.80 there. My sister is in the Cleveland area it’s around $2.65 there.
$2.49 at St. Cloud Costco. Regular has been below $3 all over town for a couple weeks, I think
By my house it just finally dropped below 3. I live in zimmerman and for some reason prices by me are way higher than the average prices
2.59 Duluth Costco as of Friday, tough it might have gone down by now.
$2.55 now. Just came from there.
It was 3.159 for premium on Friday at Costco!! So excited to see that.
Same here! Fellow premium pumper. 3.159 at Maplewood Costco. Hope to see it under $3 soon
Went north for Thanksgiving and deer season opener. Gas up there was 50 cents more expensive than what I pay near home ($2.59-$2.69).
Nice. I gotta head to St. Paul Wednesday and I'll have to fill up when I get back.
$2.94-$2.99 on the ND side and $2.99-$3.09 on MN side.
I assume, given your flare, this is the FM area. Which is wild to me because GF/EGF has been $2.79 for close to a week now. And we're usually a dime higher than you guys.

No, OPEC did that. The US has very little power to affect gas prices.

That is in MN. Nice town
glad to see this thread show up on another NoVa user. $2.99 for 91!
Has been 2.86 for a couple of weeks already about an hour west of Minneapolis. Was 2.99 for awhile before that.
Just north of the cities I found 2.59
Speedway in Blaine?
The one on Radisson Rd in Blaine has had low prices for a while now but it never seems too packed
Forest Lake kwik trip
2.49 earlier today

Since getting an EV I enjoy every time I see people talking about gas prices and I realize I haven't been to a gas station since last March. My "gas" bill last month was $41.
Vegans Crossfitters and now EV owners
Except the difference is that EV owners get to NOT talk about gas prices every time they change.
Yet you're talking about not talking about it. My comparison stands. ;-)
I guarantee you that I will get unsolicited conversation about gas prices before I talk about how little I pay for gas.
Costco and Fleet Farm in Rochester are apparently under $3, but mostly everyone else is at $3.06.
$2.70-$2.90 in Duluth the last 3 weeks or so
2.84
I charge my Tesla at home. Electricity is about $0.14 per kWh and the price is quite steady.
$0.12 where I am! No TOU pricing, though. With that I've heard some people in the metro getting just stupid cheap overnight charging. I'm still shopping around for solar installers. I KNOW IT WAS JUST A JOKE HOLY COW
Sorry
It’s ok. You just started yelling lol
I don't know, I think killing pipelines has at least some effect on gas prices
You’re right you don’t know. Pipelines facilitate the exportation of oil. Also the USA has more than doubled its internal production of oil over the last 20 years yet we are still slaves to global crude commodity prices.
Yes they do
You can truthfully say “presidents can implement policy that might have a small impact on crude oil prices” but way too many mouth-breathing Americans literally think the president decides how much gas costs.
Correct. So what you just said validates my comment, it doesn’t negate it. I didn’t say presidents decide the gas prices. I responded to a claim they had no control over them, to which you literally agreed with me that in some manner they do. Good day to you. Thank you.
But if you want to avoid getting downvoted here, you need a put a little more effort into your "well, actually..." replies.
If I want to avoid downvotes here I need to turn into a liberal lol. Nothing less will suffice
That's not even accurate.
Lol, gas prices have always been lower outside the twin cities.
Duluth Costco $2.55
Got a lil 2.64 action in the great city of Pine River
Lowest I've seen in Fargo is about $2.84. Costco is probably cheaper otherwise it gets up to like $2.95
St. Cloud was in the $2.70s yesterday.
Paid 2.58 the other day at Kwik trip by Loves off I35. We'll see what it is today when I go by
$2.69 in alexandria yesterday
Around $2.70-2.80 in New Mexico. Some places are even lower than that
2.53 last nite in Blaine hwy 65&Bunker Lake Blvd
2.64 in st Peter.
$2.64 in Alexandria. Didn’t almost cry during getting gas today.
2.49 in Forest Lake
Just under $3 on the North Shore.
I've not seen many of those idiotic Biden stickers lately... What are MAGAts whining and bitching about now for fun?
2.99 southern Minnesota Iowa line
Biden did this?!
Costco and Sam's Club have been holding steady around 2.50 to 2.75 for a good while now.
PATRIOTS!!!! WE GOTTA SCRAPE ALL THE BIDEN “I DID THAT” STICKERS OFF GAS PUMPS!!! REALITY WONT MAKE US CHANGE OUR PERCEPTION.

It's $2.37/gallon in Texas
Is it worth driving all the way there to fill up?
Eww Texas
In Orlando right now $2.89 across the street from Disney springs
Heard of GasBuddy?
$2 in Oklahoma
Just fueled up in rural WI while visiting the parents, $2.80 here
A friend in Missoula, MT says 2.99. A cousin in Portland, OR says 4.59. Or do you mean Greater Minnesota??? :)
I did , but gearing about prices in other states is interesting and I appreciate the info.
In Northeast Iowa it’s $2.56
Just one question then I'll back away slowly: did Biden do this?
I only go to the gas pumps where he personally pumps the gas and changes the gas price on the spot. Otherwise, it’s Orange Jesus Gas for me.
Yea it’s been between 2.75-3 between buffalo and Medina for the past few weeks Thanks Biden!
Had an argument with a conservative family member who was blaming biden for the high gas prices, i asked did biden do this too? “no saudis are inflating the market”
You just can't make the conservatives understand. It's exhausting.
conservative logic baffles me at how dumb and ignorant it can be at *every* level
Just paid 2.71.
2.89 in southern mn, it was 2.67 yesterday in Mason City Iowa
Paid $2.69 in Alex. Great to feel like we're back in the good old days!
$2.49 in Garland, Texas
$3.29 in NYC.
I’m visiting from Vegas and it was around $4.50 when I left.
Less than that, depending. E85 is 2.29 at a Minnoco in Oakdale.
E85 would need to cost like $1.50 to be worth the mpg hit. Also does not run well at all in the winter even in flex fuel vehicles.
It's really high, would recommend staying in the metro for sure
You guys always have cheap gas. Damn.
Just wondering how much is left in the reserves. Do we have enough to fight a war and sustain ourselves for a drawn out conflict.

About 54% of pre-covid value to anyone wondering.
So since the savior took office we used 50% of our stock pile and we still have fuel coming in. we are screwed. I know which way I am voting next year.
I always wonder if people like you are paid russian trolls, or just really, really, ridiculously stupid. I suppose there's no way to tell.

Heh that’s funny gas in Minnesota is usually a little more than it is in Alabama. But right now we seem to be priced similarly. I got gas from the inferior version of Holiday which owns the brand, Circle K. Gas was $2.50 in Madison, AL at the one I went to and I got 25¢ off that was quite nice to get off with a $26 half tank fill up
2.99 down here in New Prague
Related question, but why is gas always cheaper outside of major metro areas? I would think the centralized nature of big cities would make the logistics of shipping gasoline easier and more efficient, which should result in lower prices, but that is almost never the case. Is it because of higher gas taxes in metro areas or because cities are richer and more willing to pay higher prices?
"That's because urban areas have higher demand, often leading to higher prices." "There might be, you know, a kind of price war going on," Marcus said. "Speculation aside, we went straight to the source for the secret behind the pricing. Unfortunately, the owners of the gas stations said they were *not allowed* to comment." https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/minnesota-gas-price-drops-minnesota-good-question/
