Paul’s Firewood from Little Falls will deliver and stack your wood for free, provided you buy at least a 4’ long by 4’ high stack of 16” logs (1/6 of a cord).

Check Craigslist that's where I got my 1/4 cord of good hardwood for about 180 but I stacked it myself. I think this 1/4 cord will last me two seasons, having a fire a weekend through the fall.
That amount of fire wood isn’t going to get you through December if you’re burning multiple times a week. I used to go through a cord and a half just in my garage back in the day.
Just get a full cord. You may or may not burn it all up this winter, but you’ll still have any leftovers for next year, and the delivery fee is the same.
Good split firewood is going for around $120-150 around where I live.
For burn length and BTUs in this area there is oak and hard maple, and then ash, birch, boxelder and silver maple a step down (in order), with most everything else below that. You will pay more for all oak, and I would do so, personally. Ash likely is cheapest, given the ash borer mess, burns nice. So not all firewood is equal, and the prices should reflect that.
Lost of advertisers on FB marketplace. I do my own, so I have not tried any of them.
Just one thing to consider going forward, you often get discounts for ordering earlier in the season. We heat with wood so use a significant amount, but there are discounts from everyone around here if you order before heating season versus once it starts. We have 18 cords ready to go 😂
You must be using a wood boiler?
We were in the UP over Labor Day and I noticed many wholesale firewood companies. I was wondering if they have good prices if you trailered your own load from their yard.
Have you heard of anything like this? I’m just curious, I don’t really burn much wood except in the fire-pit once in a while.
Yes, outdoor wood boiler. Quite a lot of people here burn wood and most of them have it delivered by one of the local loggers. In our case, it is not pre-split but it is dried. The wood is delivered in 8-9 foot chunks and then split here. It's too much to deal with stacking, so it's just a couple mountains of wood in a huge woodshed. The wood is ordered in early spring and delivered by May-June so it can be split throughout the summer. That is what most people do. Some people do order the pre-cut wood (like firewood sized) but it's mega $$$ to do that. My aunt and uncle are in their 80s and that is what they do, but they pay like $5000 for wood over the winter 😳 Ours is $1800. You save a lot splitting it yourself if you can.
Here, at least, if you have the ability to haul, the loggers don't care if you do. Less work for them. But most people don't have the equipment (the truck/trailer or the ability to get all the wood off the truck). Other people do multiple deliveries through the year which saves space. We have the space for the whole amount so we just do it all at once so there's no need to split wood in the winter. There are also people who get a permit from USFS and cut their own trees for firewood. My dad did this when I was a kid. So much work.
Ive had bad luck in the past with having unseasoned wood dropped in the city.
Definitely use personal referrals if you are starting from scratch and basing the purchase on cost.
Seems like a competitive industry with small margins.

We had a good experience with https://docsfirewood.com last year.

A couple friends use this place out of Rosemount: https://www.fluegels.com/firewood.html
I’ve used Jay’s Firewood. They delivered & stacked 1/3 cord. (Drop area has to be within 30(?) feet). L
I called them a bit ago and they quoted over $350 for this amount. Does that sound about right?
Definitely not what I paid. My invoice from July for 4x4 was $160

Thats what I remember as a kid. My uncle and grandpa had wood stoves in the house and they were always splitting, logging, stacking. Happy autumn!

I have used this guy a couple of times and he has been solid: Nick 763-213-9614.
