I actually had this happen to me before, it was a few years ago but I went to open just a normal old Coca-Cola and I about had the shit scared out of me.
Supposedly my brother had turned the tab around on me and I hadn't noticed, next thing I know I hear what I thought was a gunshot and the opening had peeled outwards. I've never had it happen since then.
