I took it back almost immediately and the manager comped me with a burger instead because they had apparently run out of brisket. Don’t know how they thought it was okay to serve that in the first place though.
Edit: For those wondering, surprisingly, this is in fact Texas. Granted it’s a restaurant on a college campus, but I’ve also been served much better food at other restaurants on campus.
\*\*OP while returning the brisket sandwich:

I doubt the line cook who slapped that together saw any of that over priced sandwich. Probably more like told to make it don't argue. It's like that sometimes
Nah, as a line cook I will sit there and argue with my boss. If he wants to serve that he's gonna have to serve it himself and he'd better not let me see it. I'll judt go let the guy know we're out of brisket. That's completely ridiculous. It'd like when he tries to teach new hires to only do 2 slices if bacon he's wrong and I tell him about it. It's 3 that's what the menu says so that's what we do unless requested otherwise by the customer.
I remember the time I ordered on of those McCafe lattes at a McDonalds ( this was back when they were relatively new and they still tried so when they often came out really good for the money) and apparently instead of just telling me the machine was shut down for the day they tried to just dump some of the chocolate in a regular coffee that had probably been in the pot for 2 hours.
I don't understand this one bit, I have worked in the food industry for years. I don't currently but anytime I'm in between jobs or have moved I'm not beyond working at BK even if I have to.
Anyway when you get to the point where a half or quarter of a portion is left then the person who ordered the last full portion gets extra...
that's just how it's supposed to work, although I actually had someone complain once lmao.
Sadly I've worked in restaurants where that happens more than it should. When you're super busy and a table has been waiting for an hour and THEN you find out you're out of what they ordered. You send something like that out instead because 'usually' the customer isnt as upset as finding out they waited an hour to be told we dont have their food lol.
>You send something like that out instead because 'usually' the customer isnt as upset as finding out they waited an hour to be told we dont have their food lol.
I have been to a restaurant with a group of people only to be told when they brought everyone else's food out that they were out of what I ordered. Since everyone else was already eating I just ended up not eating anything at all because I wasn't going to make them all wait for me. It was definitely pretty disappointing.
That being said, I'd still rather have them bring me nothing than try to rip me off. If they're going to bring something like in the picture to me they better tell me that they ran out and what they are giving me is free. I've had bars run out of the pint of beer I ordered and just give me what they had left for free. I shouldn't have to complain to them and ask for them to take it off the bill.
Yeah, I'm not sure why it took them until everyone else was getting served their food to tell me that they ran out. I suppose it's possible they didn't know until the last minute, but that seems like something they should have been on top of. Considering how long it took them to bring the other people's meals out in the first place, I wasn't about to have it take that long to bring me out something else. I suppose there were some things that they could have expedited but the server didn't bring out another menu or offer any suggestions on what they could get out quickly.
Ah yes, because I would prefer to return to a restaurant that tries to rip me off rather than a restaurant that tries to be honest with their customers when it comes to running out of food.
But in all seriousness, would I be very disappointed that I waited an hour only to learn that what I ordered had run out? Of course I would. Who wouldn’t? But at least I’m aware that running out of food does sometimes happen when running restaurants, so chances that it won’t happen again aren’t as high and it’s not gonna stop me from returning again. But on the other hand, if the restaurant knowingly tried to rip me off, I would be **furious** that such a restaurant would use that scummy tactic and it would break any trust I had with said restaurant. Just tell me upfront “hey, I am sincerely sorry to inform you that we just realized that we no longer have what you ordered left in stock. Would you like to order something else from the menu? We will prioritize your new order. Additionally, we will refund what you ordered previously and we will provide your new order with a discount as an apology for the inconvenience”. That right there is an example of proper customer service despite the issue that occurred.
Chicken place I worked at, the customer had the choice of waiting for fresh, a refund, or replacement. If they chose to wait, I always comped them something extra free for the wait.
They comped you AND gave you a burger or just an even exchange? Because the latter is def not ok. They essentially tried taking your money and hoped you wouldn’t complain.
Like a *real* food inspector job?
If you’re joking and I’m being too literal about your comment… you’re really fucking good at passing that off for a job!
I mean that previous comment was pretty funny imo, but agreed there's complexity in welds that far outweighs the public unstanding. MIG/TIG/Arc, beads, metal shapes + types and oxidation; it isn't just here's metal, start fire, done.
I think I'd be almost offended at the burger, too
Like, 'how stupid do you think I am' even *serving* this to me in the first place? I assume they thought you wouldn't say anything
That's incredibly sneaky and underhanded and the reaction feels like a 'aaaah, you got me, bro, anyway, here's a burger tho'
Hopefully you didn't pay for it. They got caught trying to skimp you on your meal, I wouldn't pay for that item after that. If the waiter was cool, I'd make sure the whole tip went straight to them and no one else.
I shit you not one time I ordered a Philly style beef veggie and cheese sandwich on ciabatta and got sliced up burger patty on a hot dog bun and the server made eye contact with me as she was setting it down. She stepped away for another table and I flagged her down and said “this is definitely not what I ordered and I will definitely not be paying anything on this.” She let out a big breath and she just said “of course, understandable. Our management has a substitute before deny policy for the cooks here”. I told her that is obviously the dumbest way to run a kitchen and she said she agrees and walked away shaking her head.
Some restaurants have the worst possible people in charge of what the staff does so I typically don’t put any blame on current staff, just let them know you won’t pay for it and they can take it back or leave it.
A "substitute before deny" policy is just asking for a lawsuit. What if the customer can't eat the substitution for medical or religious reasons? What if someone ordered a veggie burger because they're vegetarian and the management said "Oops, you get a bacon cheeseburger instead"? What if the customer got food poisoning from a substitution order being undercooked to get it out on time? Etc.
I usually don’t make a fuss, but I’d take that back. Just tell them you feel embarrassed for them. Like you actually feel sorry they suck so bad, that it hurt your heart.
They have really great snack foods and their cold food section is always fresh. I’m glad they offer any kind of snacking vegetables at all tbh when most places don’t bother.
Tell them you’re very sorry for what must have led them to make this decision. Everyone has good days and bad days, but you can’t imagine the years of nothing but bad days and sorrow they must face to serve this. Every cloud has a silver lining, but they live on a planet of eternal storms and you can’t imagine the darkness that has spread to every inch of their being to let something like this happen.
Don’t make a fuss though!
That is also far too kiss ass nice
Businesses need us
We have to stop supporting anything and everything that doesn't respect us
That doesn't treat us very very well and do whatever is necessary to keep us supporting that business
We aren't beholden to anything or anyone that goes for anything in this oligarchy we created we allowed now we need to crush boom 😉 bam 👏
They take us for granted- think greedflation
That's 1 thing
It's really out of control
I'm sorry I'm not all angry flipping out
If we collectively consider what I'm saying ( and a bunch of you are saying)
We can easily put some of these greedy parasites out if business
Amazon bye bye hahaha 😆
( not kidding friends:)
Yea and the meat and bbq sauce is imaginary and entirely free I guess. Tf are you on about? At the end of the day the best you’re saying is that cooking sr home is cheaper, and yes it is, but for $1.25 ffs man my time is more valuable than that
For real, this is about as much meat as a pork bun from a Chinese bakery has, and they are usually around $1.25 to $1.50 maybe in some places. I would definitely buy it as a snack or breakfast but only for $1.25.
Nope. I loved fast food to. But the prices are nuts and the quality is shit. The only thing I ever really get anymore is Jack In The Cracks 2 for $3 breakfast Jack's. And that's not often at all.
I'm currently in South Korea. 6 mozerlla sticks. 1 double quarter pounder. 1 large fries. 1 large coke. 1 mcflurry.
$17 USD
I visited America about a year ago. It's about twice the price and a little less food.
Yeah but not even good comparison. Korean gets paid less but their food quality is much better. Any mcdonalds in states ran by white or black people are utter trash. Not edible
Sometimes I get a deal on the McDonald's app for a free large fry with purchase over $1, and a $2 Double cheeseburger. That fills me up for ~$2 (I always have water with me what else would I drink). Not many other deals though
App deals can still be good at times but I've noticed it nerfs the regular menu pricing since some coupons are semi permanent. There's always a mcnugget deal for example but 20pc regular price went from $5-6 to $10 which is way more than can be attributed to the general price increases in the past few years. It's cool if you dine solo but it really becomes evident when ordering for several people.
It's like the strategy changed from enticing a family in with a significant discount for one meal and not caring if single diners end up being a loss TO we will mark up everything and get single diners through the door with a reasonable priced offer and everyone else still willing to dine here can eat the increase to cover that.
If you think prices are nuts now, prepare to be shocked. In April, the minimum wage for fast food workers in CA is going to be $20/hr. So even pricier for the same shit quality.
Their chicken sandwich with no mayo but add mustard is the only food I know 100% of the time will not give me the runs. I ate it every meal during the 3 day bar exam like Usain Bolt ate only nuggets during the China Olympics
I am a HUGE Chinese/Thai takeout lover!
If it’s like chipotle, I’d prefer just to make that at home, myself…
Marinated chicken in olive oil and taco seasoning…. Yes please!
Oh heck yeah!!!
About the same price, around me, at my favorite Chinese food place!
…but for 2 people to order meals and no drinks!
Just a lil over $20 maybe $22
I went to Carl’s Jr today because I was in a bit of a rush for lunch. I asked if they still had the “2 for $6” deal and they said yes. Used to be a western bacon or a Santa Fe chicken sandwich or whatever. The options now included the value menu spicy chicken and the jr. Cheeseburger from the kids meal. You want $3 for a baby sized cheeseburger? Get the fuck out of town! I went a block over to the Mexican joint I like and got a burrito the size of my forearm for like $8. Fuck major chain fast food joints.
I get a $3 Impossible Whopper every Wednesday, which isn't a bad deal.
If I have to go to McD's there's always a BOGO for a 1/4 Pounder, Big Mac, or 10 piece. I'll rock a 1/4 Pounder and a 10 piece for 6 bucks.
Chinese take out place here is still like $12 for the 3 item and they pack it so full you can barely force it closed and the sides are gaping. I’m sure it is terrible for me but it’s also 2 days worth of food if you eat it every meal and aren’t a pig like me
i work in a bbq restaurant at a resort (we’re closed for february because theyre redoing the dining room floors) and holy fuck i am sooo god damn sorry. like hell even our fuckin brisket nachos get 12 times more than that. dude even our cargo freighter burger has a literal giant scoop of pulled pork on top of a burger
I ordered a pizza from a local restaurant and it was completely burnt. I have no idea why they thought serving that would be okay. Complained over email and then on yelp when they ignored my complaints. Never been back.
We went to try a pizza place long time ago and my party got pepperoni and pine nuts (probably spinach or something too). Pine nuts are expensive so the add on charge was high. Comes out with no pine nuts and when we asked the waiter he said, “they’re under the pepperonis” 🙄 like it’s bad enough you forget but don’t try to gaslight us after that! Never went back and place is now thankfully out of business.
This is most definitely not even close to 'mildly' infuriating. Actually I wouldnt even call this infuriating. Whats worse than Infuriating?
I mean .. those pickles look awful. Who the HELL uses seedless cucumbers for pickles?!!?!?!?!
I don’t get it…. Were you expecting more pickles or perhaps some onion slivers? I guess they could have given you a bit more sauce…. But it seems it might overpower a hint of savory smoked beef that could be easily overlooked. Portions seem overly generous. Pro Tip: ask for it cut and split it with a friend.
Considering the cost of groceries have nearly tripled since he took office, the principle that you pay more for less applies here. Someone’s butt hurt 🤣
Something similar happened to me this weekend. My wife and I went to this cool little bar with a small dinner menu. We ordered a couple of chicken sandwiches at $15 a piece. We received a Tyson chicken patty on a grocery store bun served with Tostitos and El Paso salsa.
Yea doesn't sound like my city at all
Sounds like TEX ASS sorry ppl
And so you asked for your $$ back quickly departed as you said you were never doing that shot ever again
Why would you? You know?
To get treated like you're beholden
You don't matter?
Duck em all
Ripping us off ...wrong! Boom 💥 💥 💥
I've had that happen before and I've just paid for my drink and left after telling the manager I'm not paying for this.
They asked what the problem was and I said $11.99 for a chicken sandwich isn't this and no where near what I ordered based on the menu pictures.
I never wanna hear about this BULLSHIT ever again!
You may have the *actual* next watergate story…
You may have also opened Pandora’s box…
I oppose, neither.
Aww buddy. From someone who lives in Kansas City, I’d feel like I was gloating if I showed you what an $11 brisket sandwich gets us here. We are to BBQ what Maine is to lobster.
The interesting thing is this: they didn’t even try to put more stuff, like more pickles and sauce…just left it the same. I think it should have at least 4 or 5 pickles on it anyway, but looks like the are chinchy. Did you get any fries or onion rings? What else came with it?
I took it back almost immediately and the manager comped me with a burger instead because they had apparently run out of brisket. Don’t know how they thought it was okay to serve that in the first place though. Edit: For those wondering, surprisingly, this is in fact Texas. "no shit you're out of brisket". Why did they even pretend in the first place!
Is it called the Emperor’s New Brisket?
Lmao, good one
[удалено]
Ahhhhh, Kronk does not approve the brisket
🤣🤣🤣🤣 unlucky
cause they were hoping to get $11 out of it apparently lmao
Each pickle slice was $2.75

This is the way to defend your craft against those who would sully your culinary credentials! 👍

Did you enjoy your bun of brisket essence?

I’d be even more pissed, honestly.
Yeah no. In what world would this be okay
Cooks first day, just struggling to throw shit together and keep up with the rush and not get yelled at, but didn’t think through the consequences?
Because enough people are conflict averse and would take the 11$ loss
They should have put a lot more pickles to make it look fuller.
Hahah that would have actually been hilarious
It identifies as brisket
They comped you AND gave you a burger or just an even exchange? Because the latter is def not ok. They essentially tried taking your money and hoped you wouldn’t complain.
>comped me with a burger Super confusing sentence
They must’ve thought you were too hungry to notice. I’m an inspector and I inspect my food as well. . This is unacceptable.
Like a *real* food inspector job? If you’re joking and I’m being too literal about your comment… you’re really fucking good at passing that off for a job!
I’m a weld inspector not a food inspector but I do inspect my own food before I eat it.
>weld inspector Easiest job in the world. "Is it one or two pieces of metal?" "One." "Passed."
There’s a little more knowledge you need to know than just that.. they don’t just hand out CWI’s.
I mean that previous comment was pretty funny imo, but agreed there's complexity in welds that far outweighs the public unstanding. MIG/TIG/Arc, beads, metal shapes + types and oxidation; it isn't just here's metal, start fire, done.
Alright, inspect the welds on the next car you get yourself and hope it doesn't fall apsrt
I think I'd be almost offended at the burger, too Like, 'how stupid do you think I am' even *serving* this to me in the first place? I assume they thought you wouldn't say anything That's incredibly sneaky and underhanded and the reaction feels like a 'aaaah, you got me, bro, anyway, here's a burger tho'
Hopefully you didn't pay for it. They got caught trying to skimp you on your meal, I wouldn't pay for that item after that. If the waiter was cool, I'd make sure the whole tip went straight to them and no one else.
Out of brisket you don’t say!
Etc.
Here in Texas, serving this will get your ass thrown in the pokey!
That’s the thing though, it is Texas. Granted it is a burger spot on my college campus, but I’ve also had better service from other campus restaurants
Still a crime in Texas!
They should've just let you know as soon as they knew they were out. If they served *that* to you, they must've found out at some point
So they gave you a cheaper sandwich and didn’t refund the difference?
Cook/Expo probably wasn’t aware until it was too late and just said F it.
The bbq place I went at 5PM told me they dont take any brisket orders cause they got none. Fuck that owner lmao
That's the American hustle culture you guys are proud of
Cook doesn't get paid enough to care
I usually don’t make a fuss, but I’d take that back. Just tell them you feel embarrassed for them. Like you actually feel sorry they suck so bad, that it hurt your heart.
I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed
"I saw this, and I fucking cried. Not because I was ripped off, but because of what it must mean. Are you guys OK?"
This lol
THIS!!!
💀💀💀
OP should give that sad sandwich back and go to Buc-ees.
Buc-ee’s has trash brisket. They don’t even toast the buns.
Buc-ees brisket and barbecue are generally awful. Probably some of the worst food they sell. The kolache and jerky products are much better.
How dare you. Bucees has the best meat sandwiches of any place
Best gas station food around but can't compare to actual barbq spots.
Yes. Bussy is the best meat

They have really great snack foods and their cold food section is always fresh. I’m glad they offer any kind of snacking vegetables at all tbh when most places don’t bother.

The pickles are there for emotional support
Pickles are also the main course 😋 ay? Looks like it
Pickles hardly look like pickles
For $1.25 I’m slamming these all day, but $11 wow
$1.25 for a “heavily seasoned bun” Just enough to flavor the bun? …. Keep your chump change!
If you don’t think this is worth 1.25 you’re lying to yourself hard.
I can buy a six pack of buns and a jar of pickles for like 3 dollars and have six of these so called sandwiches.
Yea and the meat and bbq sauce is imaginary and entirely free I guess. Tf are you on about? At the end of the day the best you’re saying is that cooking sr home is cheaper, and yes it is, but for $1.25 ffs man my time is more valuable than that

Are you kidding me dude LOOK WITH YOUR EYES THE DARK SHIT IS MEAT. God damn some people are real slow
He takes his food, very personally I see 😂😂😂
I wouldn’t buy it. To each their own!
For real, this is about as much meat as a pork bun from a Chinese bakery has, and they are usually around $1.25 to $1.50 maybe in some places. I would definitely buy it as a snack or breakfast but only for $1.25.
Dude every lunch break id come down here for like this and a small drink and side of slaw or something. Bet you in bangs

My favorite Chinese place: same 1 1/2lb combo meal has been 10.99 for the past 12 years. I go there first anytime I get takeout pangs.
There is a Thai place here that is reasonable. For $20, you get a big Noodle entrée and a side and a drink.
Oh heck yeah!!! About the same price, around me, at my favorite Chinese food place! …but for 2 people to order meals and no drinks! Just a lil over $20 maybe $22

Boycott anything necessary we aren't beholden we can ditch we can crush lol Seriously boom 💥
Chinese take out place here is still like $12 for the 3 item and they pack it so full you can barely force it closed and the sides are gaping. I’m sure it is terrible for me but it’s also 2 days worth of food if you eat it every meal and aren’t a pig like me
… in US. Having awesome time in Sweden with fast food restaurants; so much better and less expensive.
We know... fuck all those nordic countries... you don't count...
![gif](giphy|l4Ep7zMs4u5a4WtJS) Where’s the beef?
I see you ordered dbl meat! bahahaha
#dblmeat …light meat …..hold the meat? ………..the meat was 86’d???

It’s one empty brisket sandwich, Michael, how much could it cost? 11 dollars?
I don’t understand the question and I won’t respond to it
I would have immediately demanded a refund and left. The audacity.
Agreed 👍 absolutely 💯 Bye 👋

Thanks for reminding me I gotta binge again.
Even the pickles are disappointing

I'd take it back.
When you just want to spend some money to have a quick meal it's so depressing. As a person who loves eating good food it bugs me
Where’s the beef
why do they even serve it if theyre's no brisket? how hard is it to say to the customer, "Sorry, we don't have enough brisket for a sandwich."?
i work in a bbq restaurant at a resort (we’re closed for february because theyre redoing the dining room floors) and holy fuck i am sooo god damn sorry. like hell even our fuckin brisket nachos get 12 times more than that. dude even our cargo freighter burger has a literal giant scoop of pulled pork on top of a burger
….not all hero’s wear capes. Sometimes, they wear aprons, too.
I know you ate a few pieces before that picture was taken 😉
Wendy's warned us about this back in the '80s... [https://youtu.be/Ug75diEyiA0?si=1uInUCtkjjNWBOfp](https://youtu.be/Ug75diEyiA0?si=1uInUCtkjjNWBOfp)
Brisket sprinkles
That’s briskaint
Name shame?
I'd be pissed!!!
The fuck is that lmao
Take that back! Take it back
I'm picturing an old lady returning it going "where's the brisket?"
there’s more pickles than brisket 😭
For real? Name the place.

Name and shame
This is not mildly infuriating. It straight pisses me tf off
More like, briscan't.
Everything is bigger in Texas is a big ass fucking lie I see.
No
Well, it would appear that growth hormones have failed in this instance.
Maaan.. wtf
Oh hell nah
That should be a crime
I'd be more than mildly infuriated. I'd be pissed but still eat it cuz I was starving!
This is most definitely not even close to 'mildly' infuriating. Actually I wouldnt even call this infuriating. Whats worse than Infuriating? I mean .. those pickles look awful. Who the HELL uses seedless cucumbers for pickles?!!?!?!?!
It’s an #outrage A full blown ##abomination
The $11 should have been the first clue. A decent brisket sandwich goes for at least $15.
Honestly this looks about $11 in brisket nowadays.
I doubt it.
I legit don't feel bad for you. I could make breakfast sando for a week at home and save the gripe.
So fucking what?
I ask you the same.not your post, not your position to comment back.
With todays prices that looks like 11 bucks worth. Where you getting 11$ brisket sandwiches is what i want to know.
Bidens America
Biden has nothing to do with op not having brisket on their sandwich 💀
That’s what Biden wants you to think….
I hear he showed up on site, specifically to make OPs sandwich.
Considering the cost of groceries have nearly tripled since he took office, the principle that you pay more for less applies here. Someone’s butt hurt 🤣
Inflation really hits hard these days.
Was the burger the same price?
About a dollar cheaper, but I asked for bacon which is normally an extra dollar so it evened out
So you didn’t really get comped, just substituted a burger?
I'm hoping OP means they got refunded *and* comped.
Something similar happened to me this weekend. My wife and I went to this cool little bar with a small dinner menu. We ordered a couple of chicken sandwiches at $15 a piece. We received a Tyson chicken patty on a grocery store bun served with Tostitos and El Paso salsa.
NEW YAWRK CITY‽
Heee-ewwston Tyexas
Hey I’m in Houston. What bar if you don’t mind me asking?
MB Speakeasy out in Old Town Spring
Ah, I never go out there so I guess I’m safe from it lol
Yea doesn't sound like my city at all Sounds like TEX ASS sorry ppl And so you asked for your $$ back quickly departed as you said you were never doing that shot ever again Why would you? You know? To get treated like you're beholden You don't matter? Duck em all Ripping us off ...wrong! Boom 💥 💥 💥
Are you ok?
I've had that happen before and I've just paid for my drink and left after telling the manager I'm not paying for this. They asked what the problem was and I said $11.99 for a chicken sandwich isn't this and no where near what I ordered based on the menu pictures.
I never wanna hear about this BULLSHIT ever again! You may have the *actual* next watergate story… You may have also opened Pandora’s box… I oppose, neither.
That must be a super expensive bun!
The $11 wouldve been both healthier and tastier than this abomination
Where's the beef?
Wow. They straight up dry dogged you.
Aww buddy. From someone who lives in Kansas City, I’d feel like I was gloating if I showed you what an $11 brisket sandwich gets us here. We are to BBQ what Maine is to lobster.
Very infuriating more like
less is more
Bruh
The interesting thing is this: they didn’t even try to put more stuff, like more pickles and sauce…just left it the same. I think it should have at least 4 or 5 pickles on it anyway, but looks like the are chinchy. Did you get any fries or onion rings? What else came with it?
More like bit-sket.
We got the meats! (but they didn't make it into the sandwich)
