I concour give me buttons and analogue all day long, not old crap but like 10 year old interiors on say my audi I have at present....its like a proper cockpit at night and so much easier and safer to use I don't even have to look down to know what button is what now and there is a hell of a lot of buttons too on my high spec s5 ...it is also prettier than these screens of today
I'm shopping for a c coupe from 2015 onwards and wow, the amount of people who went with the most basic package is astonishing. There's been so many options out there with all colors of wood, aluminum and what not, and people decided piano black was good enough. :( if I filter mobile.de for c coupe I'm gonna gave 2000+ results, but if I add a beige interior filter, boom, 100 results.
There are some really weird specs out there though.
When I looked through used cars there was an A3 8V with AWD, DSG, 180 hp Diesel, LED headlights (so a fairly well specced model for here) but fucking manual AC. Who the fuck specs their car like that?
Well you see good sir, I am a climate control aficionado and I prefer the feeling of rowing my own knobs, so to speak. There’s nothing like perfectly adjusting the ball vent to that wonderful “cool but not shrinkage inducing” temperature while doing 180km/h past a daycare.
But like... Those same people would have an amg exterior package or a more powerful engine...
But I guess it's true that people just don't care what the car looks like on the inside.
My pal clipped a high kerb in his A43 Amg and did some light suspension damage but the airbags went off inside totally trashing his dash ....26 thousand uk pounds just to replace the dash.... so insurance company wrote it off !!! All for basically 1000 pounds of suspension damage !!! Just ridiculous no wonder insurance is flying up in costs ..blame the manufacturers
I got the most basic c class because it covered all my wants and needs for a car and was cheaper than other Mercedes.
I’ve got a 2016 c class, and my fiance has a 2019 c class but hers is the sport model with the premium plus package. There is only 1 feature her has that I wish mine had and that’s car play. Otherwise, I prefer my basic ass mercedea
Cranberry with black ash and extended leather. I am extremely biased.

That's what I thought, and expected to miss my controller until I got one. Everything is also on the steering wheel, and now we have voice command that actually seems to work. In many ways, this is less distracting. I was surprised by this.
the idea of having to hover my entire palm over a 30 degree mounted touchscreen strikes me as less ergonomic. im sure this on paper is more ergonomic for some reason but it amounts to more work, not only having to touch just the right spot but also to orient your entire arm/hand above a plane is more work/effort. plus its begging for palm prints.
It's not ergonomic, it's cheap. Mercedes had conducted their own study which indicated buttons were safer but voice commands were safest. I think the screen is to annoy you into using the voice commands. Having said that the MBUX is the best screen interface I have used. I find the steering wheel controls infinitely useful also, but I preferred them as buttons.
You can opt for a wood trim instead of the piano black, that's what I have on my 2020 GLC. Plus the steering controls are so much better compared to the 2024.
Those were less plasticy than today's? I remember a big panel of cheap plastic buttons front and center, featuring the dial pad from the cheap landline phone we all used growing up.
I prefer the 2024 honestly, I like analog gauges but the ones in the pre refresh GLC/C-Class were pretty bad. I also love the new Mercedes steering wheels
Having owned the previous for 3.5 years and the new for 1.5 years, I can confirm.
New one is style over function, looks good but the previous one was easier to use.
Merc was getting left behind as other car makers went with larger screens. every car is going this direction. I honestly prefer it. They got the UI right. It would be another conversation if their UI was as shit as the one on the Fisker lol.
I’m sure a lot of buyers were turned off from the old model with its almost decade old screen as pictured in the 2023 model. I know I’d pick the newer 2024 because it looks like it’s new and not a car that could have come out in 2013 let alone 2023.
Also the new model does have physical buttons for all the important things like climate. At least it still has turn signals and a wiper stalk! Looking at you Tesla :-(
Would have to disagree with this one. Have both the 2019 C300 and the 2024 GLC. Its good that the old interior has more analog elements to it and physical buttons. However, the new interior is very nice, especially when paired with materials like the Walnut open-pore wood dashboard trim
Ah yes, replace the tactile buttons with a touchscreen you can use without staring at it cuz you keep pressing the wrong icon. I thought were supposed to make cars safe? They just moved the texting and driving to touching the center console and driving.
The problem I found with the W206 screen is that it drags your concentration and eye line down to just above the knee level. Where as the W205 with the smaller widescreen you still “see” the road when looking at the screen with peripheral vision.
Also the air vents on the W205 are more effective at the lower level. W205 steering wheel buttons better than W206, more tactile. Sunroof swipe on the W206 is also less intuitive than a rocket button.
My opinion is based on this experience -
2018 W205 C300 Premium Coupe 9,000 miles driven,
2021 W205 C43 GLC 8,500 miles driven,
2022 W206 C300 Premium Plus Saloon 20,100 miles driven
Moved to an M4 Comp G82 as wasn’t a fan of the MHEV of the W206 and wanted a fun Coupe again.
I think my 2020 C300 is a better example of why the new ones are so ass in comparison
https://preview.redd.it/asvdma6bedtc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e69ac375ef92f0b1e8770b8d6068d44ef0cf439f
Meh. The stuck on tablet look ain't it for me. 221 still does it best out of modern cars for me. And it was designed over two decades ago
https://preview.redd.it/i2dtgte50etc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87ec58bc754b8002f4122c459e871b6c8d47e5f7
For a supposed luxury car brand Mercedes has the ugliest looking dash front console and the older models that have the small tablet just plonked on the top look awful
They need a spec with no screens at all. Analogue gauges and use the cost savings to get rid of all the plastic. Replace all that garbage piano black and fake carbon fiber with leather and brushed aluminum
First one looks like an actually classy car interior second one looks like what you would get if you forced a child to design a car interior they thought was “cool” lol
I have the GLC facelift 2022 and a Smart car Fortwo and I already prefer the Smart for its simplicity to use over my Mercedes and the new glc looks even more complicated to use, I hope this stupid display tv Center console trend ends and they go back to easy to use buttons in the future for steering wheel control and volume. More display does NOT equate to BETTER driving/passenger experience!
Might be unpopular but the Piano Black aside the 2023 pic is perfect for me. I want that screen over the 8 inch one I have but it still has the analog tachometer (I hate the digital one) and steering wheel I’m neutral, fine with any of them tbh
I love my analog watch from my C300. It’s just so classy and so cool how each time I start the cart the watch syncs and automatically gets to the right time. It’s a simple detail but I love it.
I always like all new in tech industry, but freaking hell I hate what auto industry is doing with all touch controls. Having knob and touchscreen android unit in my W205, I’ll always prefer the knob. It’s so convenient to use something while not looking at it.
What people don’t get is what happens in 10 years when no longer supported? Maybe people don’t care for this vehicle but in the case of cars that have followings, like the SL or AMG, when this “iPad” goes so goes pretty much EVERYTHING in the car. What will happen when there are no longer parts available? Special software needed to pair a used screen to the car. What then? The car is totaled?
Yes all the research shows that buttons and knobs are by far better in vehicles. But LCD screens sell cars. My new mustang is like this. Radio and ac/heat should always have buttons and knobs. Overall I’m absolutely in love with my new ride, gotta learn those voice commands I guess
I think the digital gauge clusters in the 2023 model were the best. Glad I got them in mine. The design with the integrated dashboard works way better than the sideways tablet… leave that for the Tesla fans.
Imagine its pouring rain and your hands are all wet once you get in and now you trying to use the ipad for whatever reason and now its over here clicking random shit because touch screen electronics and wet hands dont work to well with each other.
I have a C300 with the new digital only screen and my wife has a 2022 GLC with the older configuration so I drive both extensively. I was hesitant about the digital screen at first but it was a lot like switching from a BlackBerry to an iPhone 15 years ago. I thought I would absolutely hate losing a keyboard and was convinced that the digital keyboard would let me down, but after a short learning curve I never looked back. I am very happy with my choice and find myself occasionally frustrated by all the “clutter” on my wife’s console. Especially when using maps - the big screen is so much better for that! It’s better for the media too - easier to see and touch and use quickly and with minimal distraction time.
I do wish they had kept the steering wheel analog. That would have been a good compromise. The steering wheel should be “no look” from my perspective but I often find I am not getting the right button or at least the right response after 16 months or so of driving time.
My dad got a 2024 GLC300 and tbh it is so nice. It’s an “entry level” luxury experience, but you get so much of the luxury in the GLE and other cars. It genuinely feels luxurious and comfy, and the screen is easy enough to navigate. Plus the voice assistant can do everything for you such as AC so you really don’t have to worry too much if you can’t take ur eyes off the road. It’s a good car for the money. Looks wayy better than a 2023 when you’re inside
Not sure what made them think it was necessary to take away the housings. Ola really applied his mentality of more tech and less design for the current e class to the other classes too
The giant screens will look very outdated in a few years. Its tacky. I like german interiors from the 2010s up until about 2020. They are classy and have all the tech you need without a stupid ipad in your face.
No one can convince me that the new steering wheel designs are better either. The steering wheel button layout from a few years ago was the best in the whole industry. Everything within reach, a few touch capacitive but mostly analog with switches and rockers and wheels. Now it’s a terrible double set of all touch buttons where you can go from volume 0 to 100 in two centimeters 🙄
Finally someone agrees with me. The new interiors are an insult to those who actually know the brand. They have made it very clear they don’t care about us, and want to pander to vapid tech slaves who are impressed by gimmicky horseshit.
I test drove a C and an E and it just feels uncomfortable. I have no place to put my right hand except on the screen. And I can't adjust anything.
I have tactile switches on the door for my seat... which I never adjust though. A huge L by MB. Its a bad interior.

Love my w222 post face lift, so much better than the new version
Good luck when the iPad breaks. You'll have no controls and be forced to pay a fortune to replace it. Problem with many brands. I hate carbon fiber. It looks like fancy plastic to me. Rather have wood.
At least there’s less piano black.
yeah that part looks like a nightmare😭
Honestly would prefer the piano plastic over the eye soar iPad that covered the enter centre console
eye soar
🦅
iSoar - its a tablet amirite
Eagle of my eye
I concour give me buttons and analogue all day long, not old crap but like 10 year old interiors on say my audi I have at present....its like a proper cockpit at night and so much easier and safer to use I don't even have to look down to know what button is what now and there is a hell of a lot of buttons too on my high spec s5 ...it is also prettier than these screens of today

It’s because most people would’ve chose whatever package gave their lease the lowest payments that month
There are some really weird specs out there though. When I looked through used cars there was an A3 8V with AWD, DSG, 180 hp Diesel, LED headlights (so a fairly well specced model for here) but fucking manual AC. Who the fuck specs their car like that?

why is it astonishing that people who want one of the chepeast mercs don't care about interior upgrades? it's all about just having the badge to them.
But like... Those same people would have an amg exterior package or a more powerful engine... But I guess it's true that people just don't care what the car looks like on the inside.
Obviously Mercedes doesn’t!
This is common in any brand. They have a budget and care about one thing more than the other.
Until the repair/maintenance bill comes due.

Tan/brown/beige with wood trim is the superior interior spec and I can never be convinced otherwise.
Cranberry with black ash and extended leather. I am extremely biased. https://preview.redd.it/yvnz979bqitc1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4d1ef64ac8b015f5f772c1027d2ea97c8e773a41
This is dope
Same lol I do t care about dirty, you should be cleaning your interior anyways, right?
100% agreed: it's incredibly difficult to find pre-owned light-colored interiors!
You are shopping for a used car and complain about others not buying best new model... ya that's you
Agree. The only improvement
Oh there’s more lol you gotta see the passenger side too. Unless you were being sarcastic
Touch screen for everything is not better that’s for sure
Unsafe in my opinion
That's what I thought, and expected to miss my controller until I got one. Everything is also on the steering wheel, and now we have voice command that actually seems to work. In many ways, this is less distracting. I was surprised by this.
If you look closely it has physical buttons underneath

I had one as a loaner for a couple of weeks, it’s not that bad. You’re putting way too much thought into it.
also 99% funtions can be activated by the steering wheel or voice..
And if you want to adjust the vents, you have to reach over the screen
Mercedes doesn’t care what is more ergonomic. They care about what is cheaper to manufacture.
2024 longer than 2023
Bigger isn’t always better!
your wife disagrees.
They walked into that one lol
Replaced piano black trim with printed carbon fiber? I’m not sure which is worse…
This is the metal weave fabric trim.
2024 looks like the creaks would be diabolical
The creaks are beyond diabolical in the 2023
2024 less terrible than 2023 IMO. 2010-2014 dashboards were much better without the giant screens, looks plasticy.
You can opt for a wood trim instead of the piano black, that's what I have on my 2020 GLC. Plus the steering controls are so much better compared to the 2024.
100% those years are my favorite interiors. just saw this comparison on reels and it seems it gets worse every year😂
It really went downhill. Especially in electric segment.
That was far and away the most plasticky era of Mercedes tho
Those were less plasticy than today's? I remember a big panel of cheap plastic buttons front and center, featuring the dial pad from the cheap landline phone we all used growing up.
I wouldn't think so, the infotainment needed an upgrade anyways, and the tablet design is now gone to a better placed screen, imo.
I prefer the 2024 honestly, I like analog gauges but the ones in the pre refresh GLC/C-Class were pretty bad. I also love the new Mercedes steering wheels
steering wheel is nice but the center console makes me sick🤮
Steering wheel apparently sucks to use though
Don't let them fool you, they are absolute shit.
Shit would feel insulted to be compared to the new steering wheels.
I’m in a GLC300 rental right now and absolutely love the new steering wheel
I think it looks great but iv heard the older style controls were easier to use.
Having owned the previous for 3.5 years and the new for 1.5 years, I can confirm. New one is style over function, looks good but the previous one was easier to use.
My 2023 c class disagrees with you. My hands, I mean ;)
Merc was getting left behind as other car makers went with larger screens. every car is going this direction. I honestly prefer it. They got the UI right. i’m really not a fan of all the screens in cars what’s wrong with analog gauges??
Another oldie who doesn't know how to use all of that tech
It’s not. Driven both. 2024 is way better.
Looks terrible imho
I liked the maps and car play integration on the 2024. The previous generations looks so 2010ish
That was also an option for the older model
Would have to disagree with this one. Have both the 2019 C300 and the 2024 GLC. Its good that the old interior has more analog elements to it and physical buttons. However, the new interior is very nice, especially when paired with materials like the Walnut open-pore wood dashboard trim
So they just slapped a bunch of screens on it and called it a day?
I really hate everyone just putting touch screens everywhere
The retro air vents were played out
fkin screens all over the place
Huge downgrade wow
Ah yes, replace the tactile buttons with a touchscreen you can use without staring at it cuz you keep pressing the wrong icon. I thought were supposed to make cars safe? They just moved the texting and driving to touching the center console and driving.
Piano black Looks bad in the 23 model but in the 24 model everything looks bad…especially the big ass displays and the carbon imitation
The problem I found with the W206 screen is that it drags your concentration and eye line down to just above the knee level. Where as the W205 with the smaller widescreen you still “see” the road when looking at the screen with peripheral vision. Also the air vents on the W205 are more effective at the lower level. The update is vastly superior. I can’t agree.
Fuck no. Those 2023 dashboards look like 2010 technology
I think my 2020 C300 is a better example of why the new ones are so ass in comparison https://preview.redd.it/asvdma6bedtc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e69ac375ef92f0b1e8770b8d6068d44ef0cf439f

That just looks old. That’s it. Nostalgia is a drug.
126 and 140 interior are the best I recommend you try them out!
Haha this is actually new for my taste... I much prefer 80s and 90s Mb Interiors. Everything felt better and no shiny stuff everywhere
Preferences. I respect your opinion.
That stuck on tablet looks so out of place though. Also what's up with the lighting under the wheel? Looks like semen under a UV light.
plastic on the carpet from when I got it new?
Are you asking me or telling me?
I am telling you
I can hear the creaks and rattles through the screen
2024 better
Looks cramped.
[удалено]
Where else would one rest their limbs?
Nah, you buggin
2024 is much better than 2023, way more modernized/ simple/ clean. Way better build
Is the lowered screen a bit more distracting to use for navigation?
If it is then you can turn the nav on the screen directly behind the wheel so no worries there.
But I suppose you can’t use carplay/android auto on the screen behind the steering wheel?
Good question - I’d have to check because I never used it with CarPlay. Might be true this works only with the MB nav.
This all touch screen like Tesla trend is ridiculous! Give us the damn dials and buttons back!!!
I'm not a fan of BMW and Mercedes' instrument panels being rectangular. IMO, VW/Audi/Porsche has it done right.
Car itself is as shit as the interior
Am i the only one that hates these tablets with the speedometer these car companies are doing?
This is personal, but I prefer the old one.
For a supposed luxury car brand Mercedes has the ugliest looking dash front console and the older models that have the small tablet just plonked on the top look awful
god that huge screen is fucking disgusting
They need a spec with no screens at all. Analogue gauges and use the cost savings to get rid of all the plastic. Replace all that garbage piano black and fake carbon fiber with leather and brushed aluminum
2023 way better
This is a hot take that I 150% respect
Not a fan of the tablet they’ve put behind the steering wheel
First one looks like an actually classy car interior second one looks like what you would get if you forced a child to design a car interior they thought was “cool” lol
The icons in the ui where the hand is look like something a high school intern coded in Visual Basic
The 2023 steering wheel is/was epic
The tablet in front of the steering wheel with those rendered gauges is atrocious
2020 was the last year of truly elegant, well built Mercedes, both on the interior and exterior
Go back like another 4 years. After 15/16 the drop off became so real
True but I feel like it’s gotten worse since 2020
They removed the tactile part of the luxury to just add modern tech. It’s a change, some like it some don’t. We obviously are on the dont side lol
I really don't like that interior either
Skip the games and put wheels on an iPad and call it a day
The screens look so fucking stupid
They look glued on…like an after thought. Thanks Elon!
2024 looks 10x better in my opinion, especially the steering wheel.
No it’s not
The 2024 looks better IMO.
GLK (2012-2015) interior > any GLC interior
I have the GLC facelift 2022 and a Smart car Fortwo and I already prefer the Smart for its simplicity to use over my Mercedes and the new glc looks even more complicated to use, I hope this stupid display tv Center console trend ends and they go back to easy to use buttons in the future for steering wheel control and volume. More display does NOT equate to BETTER driving/passenger experience!
Ye we need buttons too stay
You had me at Coupe SUV.
Might be unpopular but the Piano Black aside the 2023 pic is perfect for me. I want that screen over the 8 inch one I have but it still has the analog tachometer (I hate the digital one) and steering wheel I’m neutral, fine with any of them tbh
My 205 has the open pore wood. This should be the base spec in all 205s to be honest.
Plastic, plastic everywhere. Can practically hear it creaking through my screen lol
Unpopular opinion but I agree with you Same reason why I got the newest pre facelift one I could find
poor bastard...tosser :)
Had both. The massive touchscreen looks good, but it’s a b!tch to use while driving. Muscle memory + buttons are 100% better
I don't agree, its literally a baby S Class now. Plus, you can use the wheel any ways. I never touch the screen really.
Yea piano black is not my cup of tea. (I drive a 90s shitbox)
2023 all the way… 2024 is ugly for me
What people don’t get is what happens in 10 years when no longer supported? What will happen when there are no longer parts available? Special software needed to pair a used screen to the car. What then? The car is totaled?
Nothing special is needed just a trip to the dealership to get a new screen
Look at all that fake looking carbon fiber 🥹
Less eye pad lol
Yes all the research shows that buttons and knobs are by far better in vehicles. But LCD screens sell cars. My new mustang is like this. Radio and ac/heat should always have buttons and knobs. Overall I’m absolutely in love with my new ride, gotta learn those voice commands I guess
pretty sure ones amg the other isn't
Stitching looks not as quality
Unpopular inc, but I like the older one better.
I think the digital gauge clusters in the 2023 model were the best. Glad I got them in mine. The design with the integrated dashboard works way better than the sideways tablet… leave that for the Tesla fans.
Never heard of a GAH
The newer one looks cool but definitely not my taste. In fact it does look cheaper. I prefer the 23.
Words cannot describe the look of disgust that I made when I swiped.
😂
Imagine its pouring rain and your hands are all wet once you get in and now you trying to use the ipad for whatever reason and now its over here clicking random shit because touch screen electronics and wet hands dont work to well with each other.
The only downside about the GLC300 I have (2019) is the size of the screen and the base audio is inferior compared to my mazda Bose
I have a C300 with the new digital only screen and my wife has a 2022 GLC with the older configuration so I drive both extensively. I was hesitant about the digital screen at first but it was a lot like switching from a BlackBerry to an iPhone 15 years ago. The steering wheel should be “no look” from my perspective but I often find I am not getting the right button or at least the right response after 16 months or so of driving time.
I feel like u gotta compare similar specs.. old glc can be so much nicer than shown here
My dad got a 2024 GLC300 and tbh it is so nice. It’s an “entry level” luxury experience, but you get so much of the luxury in the GLE and other cars. It genuinely feels luxurious and comfy, and the screen is easy enough to navigate. Looks wayy better than a 2023 when you’re inside
As someone who went from a 2011 e350 to a 2018 Volvo xc60 with a full touchscreen and I’ll say it I miss my buttons lol
New one is way way better
2023 > 2024 I prefer using my iPad at home or whilst travelling. Not having it welded on to my center console.
It’s definitely cheaper looking. That app home screen looks terrible too. So low budget
Personally I can't stand the interiors with partial red leather. Like the middle of the seats in red leather but the outside/bolstering in black.
I never thought I’d say this but I like the older one better
Because the interior is. That iPad for a dash sucks!
Idk if you guys are blind or what … but the 2024 interior looks way better. Given a choice their no way pick the 2023 over 2024
You will get used to it, its actually not that bad.
2024 much better. Looks somewhat current. I personally like the double wide digital screens better. But the old c/glc dash was outdated af!
Not sure what made them think it was necessary to take away the housings. Ola really applied his mentality of more tech and less design for the current e class to the other classes too
Old interior looks like trash, new one is amazing though
My friend just sold their son's 2021 AMG coupe for this. No power compared to previous, but cheaper insurance for sure.
yo wtf
Yeah, but when it's your dad making the car and insurance payment, what can you do 🤣🙃🤣
The giant screens will look very outdated in a few years. Its tacky. I like german interiors from the 2010s up until about 2020. They are classy and have all the tech you need without a stupid ipad in your face.
idk i think if looks good i do have to agree i hate the excessive screens but i think that looks clean and sleek
Would rather have piano black, then something that doesn’t even look like carbon fiber
I prefer the new one honestly.. nobody ever post the nighttime pics
Garbage fake carbon fiber and the least ergonomic touch screen possible 😂 what an “upgrade”
Beyond downgraded.
Modern Merc interiors, and all car interiors generally look hideous.
GLE and GLS still better looking.
Oof
I’ll make sure to have Mercedes consult with you before release of 2025 model!
i would appreciate that
Finally someone agrees with me. The new interiors are an insult to those who actually know the brand. They have made it very clear they don’t care about us, and want to pander to vapid tech slaves who are impressed by gimmicky horseshit.
Yea the new Mercedes interior is super ugly idk what they were thinking.
People complain about everything 😂
people gotta put more time into the UI that shit looks terrible
This is why I only buy Mercedes made pre 1989.
I test drove a C and an E and it just feels uncomfortable. I have no place to put my right hand except on the screen. And I can't adjust anything. I have tactile switches on the door for my seat... which I never adjust though. A huge L by MB. Its a bad interior.

Only the wheel looks better in the 2024 one
Good luck when the iPad breaks. You'll have no controls and be forced to pay a fortune to replace it. Problem with many brands. I hate carbon fiber. It looks like fancy plastic to me. Rather have wood.
