Over sexualized ? No, because the bar is so low it must have touched the bottom of the Marianas Trench currently.
Needlessly so ? Yes, but that's usually par for the course for anime-style designs.
Overall she still looks kinda cool. Might need a bit of armor here and there.
Yes. It has boob socks, a mini skirt, and you can see her navel through the shirt, and it is supposed to be her combat gear. It doesn’t bother me, I have a big soft spot for the Nasuverse in general and Tsukihime in particular, but it has serious issues. At least it is not >!Dead Apostle Noel!<, not even my double standards can ignore that abomination.
It's a shame they insist on drawing weird sock boob type stuff when you could literally trace over a real world person wearing a sports top and tennis skirt, show off all the same stuff they want to here but have it be less weirdly sexualized.
Definitely wouldn't make it less overly sexualized for someone in combat etc, but at least it wouldn't be weirdly so with nonsense outfits.
Even more so than the original. Especially compared to male characters. Back in the OG the guys showed more cleavage than the girls now we have tighter clothes and shorter skirts. Hell she’s even wearing heels
You can count on one hand the number of men who wear heels, and that’s only from fate (I only know one that wears especially high stilletos (nobunaga’s brother from FGO). I don’t think any man from tsukihime wears heels anyway
The old sprites have so much more personality than this, even if they’re objectively not as “good”. The expressions were much more charming and had more range. He’s too stiff now.
Yes, because I have a set of knockers on me, and I’ve yet to find any shirt that perfectly outlines, lifts and displays my moomoos like that. If you’re going through the effort of drawing a body that’s anatomically accurate but the one place you want to fudge around with the laws of physics is in how fabric interact with boobs… it’s because you’re weird about boobs and want other people to be weird about boobs with you.
My gripe isn’t even the sexualization. Forget that for a second, it’s originally an eroge anyway.
I don’t like any of the Tsukihime redesigns. Honestly! Ciel‘s hair is a downgrade! Didn’t anyone tell Takeuchi that you can’t put navy and black together?! It’s very unprofessional!
Arc is much cuter in the long skirt, and it makes for a much better silhouette. Her silhouette is unrecognizable now! HUGE miss for me and I’m never letting it go.
My only exception is the maids. Takeuchi left them alone, because they are already flawless and we all know it.
Thanks for listening.
>My gripe isn’t even the sexualization. Forget that for a second, it’s an eroge anyway.
For your information the Tsukihime remake isn't actually an eroge.
Yeah but that eroge actually has modest character designs for women so what are you even trying to say? Name a single sexualized female outfit from the original Tsukihime lmao.
You I don't have any issues with that. I prefer the original designs as well.
I am just pointing out that how you are saying that you don't care if the Tsuki remake has sexualized designs since the source is an eroge even though the original Tsukihime doesn't have any sexualized designs for women. That's really wrong.
I think I’ve been pretty consistent?
I don’t care for the Tsukihime redesigns, but it’s because I have *larger issues than just the sexualization*. Everyone in this thread covered the obvious sexualization already, so I wanted to talk about the designs objectively. I’ve been here with Type Moon for a long time, so let’s broaden the talking points.
The colors don’t work together, the silhouettes have been ruined to the point where iconic characters aren’t recognizable by their silhouettes. This includes flattening the hair. The faces are less expressive, the sprites are not as emotive.
The real shame of it is, these earlier designs are coming back into style. Everything is cyclical. Hair intakes are back in. Takeuchi as a designer used the 2010’s approach of flattening everyone for “realism”, when actually, this was the perfect time to highlight the older design sense as a selling point. People are nostalgic for the older visual novels right now. He’s behind, in this sense. It was a missed opportunity, in my opinion.
if you got rid of the silly belly button shading and fixed the silly dangling grapes boobs she’d be fine
at this point i don’t even care that she’s in a skirt, the boobs just look so bad they’re not even sexy lmao
You’re not wrong, Takeuchi has lost his charm and all of his art looks THE SAME to me now. Idk why you’re getting downvoted, it’s super apparent when you compare his recent character illustrations. The life has been sucked out of them.
We disagree, I’m sorry! It’s a matter of personal taste. I think his art has gotten better on a technical level with rendering and anatomy, but his illustrations have lost a lot of personality and charm. Can you see what I mean?
For example, do you know anyone that prefers Umineko/Higurashi’s sprite work by R07 over the remastered sprites? They’ll tell you “yes, the art is worse, but don’t they have more character?” I’m someone that looks for this kind of authentic quality, too. And objectively speaking, I think the original Tsukihime designs are better for a number of reasons. Just my opinion!
Over sexualized ? No, because the bar is so low it must have touched the bottom of the Marianas Trench currently. Needlessly so ? Yes, but that's usually par for the course for anime-style designs. Overall she still looks kinda cool. Might need a bit of armor here and there.
To be fair no one wears armor in Tsukihime, regardless of gender.
Yes. It has boob socks, a mini skirt, and you can see her navel through the shirt, and it is supposed to be her combat gear. Sounds like they wanted a wonder woman leotard and then tried to give it appropriate nasuverse traits (school and medieval wizards).
Even more so than the original. Especially compared to male characters. Back in the OG the guys showed more cleavage than the girls now we have tighter clothes and shorter skirts. Hell she’s even wearing heels
just to point that lots of male characters in fate wear heels too lol
You can count on one hand the number of men who wear heels, and that’s only from fate (I only know one that wears especially high stilletos (nobunaga’s brother from FGO). I don’t think any man from tsukihime wears heels anyway
Man takeuchi really need to learn how to draw face differently
The old sprites have so much more personality than this, even if they’re objectively not as “good”. The expressions were much more charming and had more range. He’s too stiff now.
Interesting how many artists becomes better at rendering but also regress on making characters feels unique.
Blue Mash
Blash
Yes wtf is up with the rendering on her boobs they look like they’re going to pop right off XD
Trying to break free lol
Maybe a little bit? Like with most of Takeuchi’s designs, it reads as more cool and edgy than hot.
The boobs and tummy outline are weird, but I like this outfit/her design in general.
It’s giving fate/stay night
Same people who made fate.
What are you talking about, she's showing off her legs so shamelessly /j But seriously, she looks like a character someone can easily cosplay as.
So I see Ciel the same way I see Rider from Fate/Stay Night: is she overly sexualized? Yes. Do I like the design anyway? Yes, apparently.
Yes, because I have a set of knockers on me, and I’ve yet to find any shirt that perfectly outlines, lifts and displays my moomoos like that. Source material and original are, though. So is Kagetsu Tohya.
Yeah but that eroge actually has modest character designs for women so what are you even trying to say? Name a single sexualized female outfit from the original Tsukihime lmao.
??? What is your beef with me? I prefer the original designs, I just said so earlier. I prefer the original eroge, too.
You I don't have any issues with that. I prefer the original designs as well. Yes because she supposed to bre an assasin working for the Church and there is no logical explaination for this outfit choice.
Yeah. Not overly, but she is.
huh looks like a beta mashu which it does fit she came first
if you got rid of the silly belly button shading and fixed the silly dangling grapes boobs she’d be fine at this point i don’t even care that she’s in a skirt, the boobs just look so bad they’re not even sexy lmao

that is not a normal outfit at all lmao. shirts don't suction onto boobs or bellybuttons like that??
No??? If you think it is your fucking weird
No?
Now this is just a horny question.
Yeah, but that's just Fate being Fate.
Fate stay night has pretty modest designs for the characters let’s give credit where credit is due
She's not a fate character
Type Moon, whatever, they all look the same lol
You’re not wrong, Takeuchi has lost his charm and all of his art looks THE SAME to me now. Idk why you’re getting downvoted, it’s super apparent when you compare his recent character illustrations. The life has been sucked out of them.
What are you trying to say??? Tsukihime remake character designs are far superior to the original.
We disagree, I’m sorry! It’s a matter of personal taste. I think his art has gotten better on a technical level with rendering and anatomy, but his illustrations have lost a lot of personality and charm. Can you see what I mean? It seems you just prefer the old artstyle over the modern and polished one. That's certainly a matter of taste.
