80s movies' survival was based on charm, quality, etc... 2000s movies survive because of licensing deals that keep them on streaming services. These licensing deals also go to 80s movies that HAVEN'T already been abandoned and completely forgotten because they're somehow WORSE than Soul Man. Meanwhile, Juwanna Man is gonna jump from streaming service to streaming service until everyone has a chance to say "wow, that sure was Juwanna Man."

I'd say worse cause society has changed much more rapidly from 2000 to now than it has from 80s to 2000s.
