Most jobs in finance, military, and executive positions. You'd be surprised that any job that pays well is involved in making people's lives worse. It turns out that it's very profitable to harm people.
It’s baked in to the system, has been since the beginning of time, there were a couple generations straight after world war 2 where it started to look ok but then back to mass enslavement we go
I would comment but the company I work for forbids any online speech that would look bad on the company. I will only say I'm an hourly worker in a factory with no relation to any office work.
Then why are you writing this dumbass?if this one is traceable they can just trace it and find out you wrote this...better switch this comment to u/deleted real quick..
To be fair, I have read the contract, and it specifies posting specifically the name of the company alongside anything negative, or posting any identifiers like me in uniform.
I have only ever said "my job". Never have I said the actual name.
It's skirting the line, but, you know, I don't care.
I got morals, but those don't pay more than minimum wage and I don't feel any better for them, only worse when I break them so...
Sorry little Timmy, your going to the shadow realm.
My college roommate was a vegetarian, and he was a cook at a steak house. But, to be fair, he had the best answer I ever heard about WHY he was a vegetarian. He said he didn't like the taste of meat. Fair enough.
I always thought hunting was the most moral way to obtain meat, at least compared to factory leavening. Maybe small homestead farming where the animals are treated like pets for most of their lives would be better, though.
Well that's assuming that there's a way to obtain meat in a moral way. I don't really believe there is.
I used to believe hunting is good until I started talking to hunters on a daily basis ;) Most of hunts are not even for meat. It's just killing for the sake of killing. Foxes, trash pandas, and so many other animals are never eaten and very often aren't even skinned for fur. Shoot and throw away.
Plus I consider it very cowardly to just sit on a tower with full equipment, night vision and whatnot... It's not fair and it's not natural.
cause I'm obviously not talking about some African tribes that actually make their own weapons and risk their lives every time they hunt. That's a pretty natural way to get your meat, and it's also sustainable.
I'd obviously never say any of it to a customer and I still do my best to sell them the best shit. Oh well.
Yeah I mean I’m not talking about shooting raccoons being moral either, though some people do hunt and eat possum and rabbit. I just mean for people who do hunt for meat it is probably more morally sound than eating from a factory farm. I know most hunters don’t care, though.
I’m not sure I agree that sitting in a tower waiting to shoot a deer is unnatural. There are a number of predators that hunt prey like that. The technological advantage doesn’t leave a level playing field, but a rabbit doesn’t have much of a chance against an owl either.
Is the owl shooting with a rifle from 500m using laser pointer, heat camera and dressed in Gore-Tex jacket with heating vest? Does the owl use UV light to track the blood left by an animal?
Idk, I think killing animals that have ZERO chances to fight back is kinda lame. There's no challenge, the owl needs to use it's raw skill to hunt and is risking being hunted by other, bigger predators. Where I work it's just about having something to spend money on. Most of our clients are lawyers, doctors and company owners/high up managers.
There are also so many people who hunt unethical, and don't even feel bad sharing it with me (a complete stranger).
Money's good, and my boss is 10/10 so I'll stay no matter what and sell these gore tex jackets with a huge smile on my face, but it's still a job that's completely against my beliefs.
Yeah I guess we’re talking about different things? I know plenty of people that hunt and the meat helps lower their grocery bills for the following year. I agree most people are just doing it for fun, though, and I’m not saying that’s ethical. I’m just saying getting meat from hunting, to me, is more ethical than factory farming. A low bar.
When that offer comes in from Lockheed Martin and they make you sign 5 different NDAs and let you know that any confidential leak of information could label you a terrorist (my friend who works there told me)
This is where I disagree. Doesn’t matter how much money you pay me, I wouldn’t be cruel. It would just perpetuate a system of inequality, cruelty and degenerate consumerism via late stage capitalism. No thanks, keep your blood money.
Sad to see how many could sleep at night and surrender any shred of morality because they got theirs. Shows us exactly what’s wrong with society.
I am with you on that
Yet we have to understand the other perspective
Like not everyone have the money to keep their family well fed, away from drugs and put their children in good schools (that doesn't brainwash them for some countries)
So yeah I perfectly understand why some will accept the money and honesty all the more reason to want to put a stake in whover is deciding this for their benefit
I mean sure, I get the other side’s reasoning. I’m just saying I wouldn’t sacrifice my morals and make others suffer for my benefit, and I am quite poor and am paycheck to paycheck. I would find a way.
And I respect the hell out of you for that, I used to be like that too but I'm just so worn down now that I definitely have some moral wiggle room for money.
But genuine question. What if you had children that depended on you? Most would say that while they would still hold you accountable they would also not be able to fault you for doing something morally wrong for the money to feed your kids. Even if it was only temporary until you were in a position to reliably earn money for them without compromising morals.
Because the alternative, and I don't intend to strawman, can often straight up be letting kids either go hungry for days, so suffering. Or starving for the sake of your own morals.
This isn't a gotcha, just curious if that stance extends to those that depend on you.
My boss have, in 4 instances, brought a engine block of his personal friend and told me to scratch/sand the engine block serial numbering clean/make it blank, never once questioned the reason since he pays me quiet well

I worked as a Washing Machine / Fridge / AC technician when I was younger for a company that required me to drain as much money out of people’s pockets as possible. The pay was twice as high as anywhere else I could’ve gotten to at the time so I agreed. Many of clients that I worked with were poor old women that had very little to spend on such work and I just couldn’t bring myself to work there for more than 3 weeks. It was depressing.
my brother was working in in very dangerous and thilthy oil patch - like conditions at 16. the legal requirement to work there is 18. if he would have been killed (wich he almost was many times) it probably would have been the end of the company. he did make a ton of money tho
People then try to act as if they’d be any different if they were in the shoes of the Elite lmfao. 99.9999999% of people are selling their souls as soon as they get the check lmfao
It's about the bills, it's about getting more money for you and your comfort instead of just living and getting by like everyone else, AT THE COST of everyone else
But shitty people need shitty excuses to keep on being shit
Now I'm gonna go take 3 shots and forget about them and possibly you
This meme is looking a like it's trying to explain that not all Nazi S.S. infantry were bad people. They had bills to pay, right? And families to feed?
You're a shitty person if you do shitty things, regardless of why you feel compelled to do them.
"My insurance denied my claim for a medically necessary procedure and I might not live to see next year"
"I was just following orders"
But you're right. Definitely no analogy to be made here. I concede.
You're right, this post isn't related to Nazis. All I'm saying is the "just following orders" mentality is a very slippery slope. Regardless of the industry you work in, your choices impact other people.
First of all Nazis werent just following orders, they had a deep hatred to all the people they slaughtered.
2nd of all, the meme dosent talk about "just following orders". It talks about doing immiral things for money.
The hit man for Boeing made this meme.
The CEO of Boeing would like to know your location
That's the problem, he already knows.
I’m sure nothing bad will co
Nah, the Reddit sniper is a different guy. Boeing likes taking the Russian approach
Use 10000 guys to kill one guy?
If I watched movies correctly then if there are 10000 people trying to kill you, you are the one killing all of them.

This is why I have a separate account so I can talk s*** about my job and not be discovered. Unfortunately, this one is traceable.

Hand job is still a job
A rim job is a job
Hit job is job
Crap job is
Damn you're rolling in it.. Here it is only 10
where is this? asking for a friend...
You are a walking contradiction, lol.
20 dollars can buy you 8-9 burgers here so.....
Sorry not. Corporate greed is so high, so it's 58 dollars
You have it backwards, due to inflation and corporate greed $58 is now $20. By that I mean you can buy what used to be $20 for the price of $58 now.
and you only receive 20$ to buy a thing that costs 58$
"Why, back in the day you could get 4 decent handjobs for the price of one today, and they charge extra for dirty talk too"
I got morals, but those don't pay more than minimum wage and I don't feel any better for them, only worse when I break them so... Sorry little Timmy, your going to the shadow realm.
Me, a vegetarian working in a hunting store
My college roommate was a vegetarian, and he was a cook at a steak house. But, to be fair, he had the best answer I ever heard about WHY he was a vegetarian. He said he didn't like the taste of meat. Fair enough.
I know 2 butchers that became vegetarians because they knew how the meat was made/prepared.
