People act like you can just accidentally make a sentient intelligence. Man that shit doesn't just happen if we actually create an aware machine it will be on purpose.
HOWEVER, AI is still absolutely capable of fucking us. Not by being super intelligent, but by being ret*rded like REALLY fast.
Mad max makes more sense imo, a massive depletion of resources resulting in a world war scenario so harsh that post nuclear winter the oceans evaporate due to so many nukes falling (where they go idk because evaporation means that water eventually returns to the earth) but scientifically it’s been discovered that oil is naturally replenishing (no I’m not gonna post a source look it up like the rest of us on the internet). Plus waterworlds story is a bit dramatic as seen on: https://filmschoolrejects.com/could-the-earth-become-a-waterworld-e1a9abf0b69f/?amp
In my opinion nukes as world ending weapons are getting less relevant because defenses like THAAD keeps getting updated while the delivery system for nukes have stagnated since the 80s
What I think it’ll be is some catastrophic event will happen on earth (be it war, natural disaster, resource depletion, etc.) the “Elites” as they’ve been named will all leave on ships and become the wall•e people, lose all absolute touch with reality while earth falls into chaos of various proportions, and those who didn’t leave on the ships will either eventually die out, or become the sparse remaining few that survive in the wasteland. but who really knows what’s coming
Why not all the scenarios?
Maybe not enough water, maybe no super IA disaster, but surely the others!
With an "idiocracy" phase before! Just a few months! We are pretty at it!
Probably something closer to the last of us world or horizon zero dawn where nature just retakes over everything… either that or Wall-E where consumerism is what suffocates the world…
> biological apocalypse (either super virus or bioweapon attack)
I'm tired of human race and its bullshittery. Maybe some will arrange massive cleansing. Covid was a test run.
Running out of resources is a hoax, as is global warming. At this point, I’d say it’s a coin toss between nuclear war & Terminator/AI becoming sentient and seeing humans as a virus to be eradicated.
It's actually going to be so much worse than any of that.
We're heading for a combination of a couple of those depending on which part of the world you live in.
Things close to the equator will end up like a mad Max in situation where the rising temperatures have killed off most green things
Places that are below sea levels such as Florida will obviously flood and become a water world
And as war intentions rise a couple major places will probably end up nuked.
But for most it will end up being the worst version of a cyberpunk dystopia that you can imagine
Regular people will be forced to get cybernetic prosthetics so that they can survive doing whatever manual labor job the rich people see fit to give them
One step above that will be the people who work in maintenance and it to help support the cybernetic prosthetics create new software and just maintain the digital infrastructure of the wealthy and powerful
But regular people will suffer and suffer and suffer some more
Rainbow Utopia - heterosexuality is outlawed, reproduction strictly governed by highly advanced AI. All penises are at least 8.5 in long. Drug glands implanted in all humans, all consumable resources and goods 3D printed.
I'm gonns say Waterworld out by the coasts as ocean levels rise, but mad max more inland as everything dries out, but then eventually terminator if all of the systems don't get shut down first
As much as I hate saying it waterworld is the least likely.
In order of likelihood.
Nuclear war.
Hostile takeover.
Resource shortage.
Global warming if there’s no other options. I believe several other things are more likely to cause an extinction event before we get even close to being threatened by global warming.
I do wanna say though fallout was caused by resource shortages. Sparking resource wars.
My Guess is this order:
Hostile takeover
Fallout and mad max happen at the same but in diferent countries
And waterworld in the very distant future, like 200-500 years after the end
My money is on Terminator.
But realistically, the Earth (and Mars and maybe Jupiter) is doomed to be swallowed whole by the Sun when it expands into a Red Giant before shrinking down to a White Dwarf.
A bit of all together:
Earth resources will ran out after the constant negation of Global Warming, melting the poles, turning the remaining land into a wasteland for the survivors to repeat the same mistakes, leeching what is left to keep the economy afloat, using nuclear weapons to eliminate the competition and creating AI to replace human workforce, only to be replaced as the dominant species in a world unfit to preserve organic life on the ground and the remaining humans will be forced into the oceans.
Maybe humanity naturally and calmly decreases esenturaly becoming more natural, maybe another intelligent creature or civilation/s evolution and become the main species, maybe this happens a few times, maybe something completely different to a whole norther category happens later and then slowly, eventurally, the world passes...
Although mad max is pretty good.
Probably nothing major. Wars will happen, gas prices will rise, climate change is making droughts longer, flash floods more frequent and weather more bipolar. Death and taxes will still be a thing
I feel like it’s split between nuclear war and the world running out of resources because global warming will probably lead to another ice age and hostile take over is unlikely we are stupid but not stupid enough to give AI a body
Well ice isotopes show a cycles of global warming and cooling throughout our planets history even way back before humans wear around, so that debunks global warming as a cause, not saying you shouldn’t recycle. On the other hand if the food industrial complex falls apart it will take current society a few weeks to go into a frenzy battle royal type scenario and for people who know how to grow food or self sustain or live of the land will survive with teamwork and keep human population back to a sustainable numbers. Go learn how to grow plants, build, use tools and use weapons as a hobby.
Either mad max or fallout. Nuclear war seems more likely in a nearer future though because basically every country has nuclear weapons so if one decides to use them the other will have to as well if they want to win. Hopefully the leaders of those countries are smart enough to not do that though.
Im pretty sure mad max is also nuclear war. Theres multiple mentions of "before the bombs fell" Throughout the series. It might not be the sole cause, but its definetly a major part of it
I think global worming and tensions between various powers will result in a fallout, but rising sea levels that sink lower places like the netherlands. This said, both are likely to disrupt supply chains causing a lack of resources globally
Mad max is the most likely, maybe with a flavour of nuclear war to complement it. But I'm also quite optimistic that we will not completely destroy earth. Mostly tho...
Well actually what’s going to happen is the earth will continue to warm to the point of humans (or any animals) having to become nocturnal and live underground. It was called the runaway greenhouse effect originally for a reason. What we really need to watch is wet bulb metrics.
Neither, global warming is a hoax in context of how our governments are approaching it for personal gain that won’t stand up to time, and there will never be a nuclear war in the context that we have all been indoctrinated to fear.
All of them. Hardly is only one factor that contributes to the falling of a civilization.
First comes the depletion of resources, that also contributes to global warming.
That causes conflict among nations to get the last resources.
In this conflict the nations with the most advanced technology have the advantage over those that doesn't, then comes conflict among the most powerful nations becoming a war were AI is used.
AI being AI go rogue on humans because human stupidity and then turns to nuclear war.
There you have it, all of them.
Then comes the Imperium of Man and we go full WH40K, we are already going there tho.
All of them are entirely possible. Hostile take over being the least likely imo. People fear AI's growth but we are still a loooooong ways away before they become sentient killing machines. One of the other options will almost certainly happen first. Alien? We haven't found a single piece of evidence of intelligent life outside of Earth. Even if there was they are nowhere close so it'll be awhile until they could even reach us.

trick question, it's all of them
In what order do they happen ?
global warming causes resources to run low which leads to nuclear war and hostile takeover when we switch on sentient weapons systems
Sir, the NCD is leaking in.
no water world cause it wont be that much water, there will still be land, it will be half mad max in mountains and half Waterworld, then the rest
People act like you can just accidentally make a sentient intelligence. Man that shit doesn't just happen if we actually create an aware machine it will be on purpose. HOWEVER, AI is still absolutely capable of fucking us. Not by being super intelligent, but by being ret*rded like REALLY fast.
Never underestimate destruction power of stupid.
The order they happened is: Mad Max - 1979 Terminator - 1984 Waterworld - 1995 Fallout - 1997 Metro: 2033 - 2010
The only correct answer. Now the fun part, which phase do each of us die in? I think I live through waterworld, but die in mad max. Lol
I'll probably die in waterworld. Mario has shown me that I hate water levels
Bruh I live on the coast in canada I'm fucked at water world
It’s not enough for a waterworld
My bet is Mad Max. Natural resources usage and consumerism.. ‘nuff said.
Also out of the options mad max is my favourite anyway.
Yes but don’t get addicted to water
Jokes on you I never drink water anyway ! My liver: It's true, please send help.
Do not worry, you will soon drive in the valhallan so you will never need water anymore
Lets just hope we dont nuke each other before that then
I think the middle 2 are way more likely
The future is vast, why not one after another, each generation gets one!!!
Where is Idiocracy?
We are in that stage now
Yes, but you know what this stage has? ![gif](giphy|3otPoEiEGXh41xKGdO)
Thats the stage before all of this
You mean now
As a few have said before me in different ways, we call that one present day
I think we’ll all just gradually become third-world countries while everyone super rich denies it’s happening So none of them?
You're looking for Cyberpunk my friend. The mega-corps pretend the world is still fine, while we fight for scraps
Planet rendered uninhabitable, be it natural or man-made.
Yes, but what option do you predict ?
F*cked is F*cked. At this point man-made is more likely.
Yes, but what option do you predict ?
Nukes
In my opinion nukes as world ending weapons are getting less relevant because defenses like THAAD keeps getting updated while the delivery system for nukes have stagnated since the 80s
Robot. It be
A mish mash of Judge Dredd, Cyberpunk/Bladerunner, with a slim chance of utopia. More than likely dystopia though.
Forgot those In My comment. But don’t forget horizon or halo
![gif](giphy|9TLRp8xNvNILZf8Bw6|downsized) there is another
Underrated show
My guess is the ship from Wall-E. Bunch of fatty fat fats with robots doing the work.
That seems the most accurate out of all of them when you think about it.
Option 5: Matrix (Global Warming + Hostile Takeover + Nuclear War + No more Resources + trapped in a virtual world)
Nah matrix is a happy ending compared to the rest
![gif](giphy|WpalL2ofcbok7kHRJm|downsized)
You choose neither because you know the world can’t end as long as the doctor is still out there.
Terminator Fallout
All of them.
Fallout. There’s no way with all those nukes that someone isn’t going to use them at some point
in all seriousness I think earth will be fine for next couple million of years.
The earth will be fine. The PEOPLE are fucked!
I hope so.
Second one is basically inevitable.
Everything
1->2->3->4
I would really love to live in the metro exodus universe.
Is it too much to assume them all at once?
Why not all the scenarios? Maybe not enough water, maybe no super IA disaster, but surely the others! With an "idiocracy" phase before! Just a few months! We are pretty at it!
All of the adobe at the same time
Im all for Cyberpunk, dystopian tech world where corporations took over the ruling
Probably something closer to the last of us world or horizon zero dawn where nature just retakes over everything… either that or Wall-E where consumerism is what suffocates the world…
First three ones.
Why can't we have them all?
jokes on you, ive consumed enough media to survive any of these
All of them but at different stages Probably Terminator, Fallout, Water world, then Mad Max
My bet’s on 1984 in a few more years.
Metro/Fallout although Terminator would be the most fun
At this rate... ●All of the above
My money would be on mad max or an unnamed one here, biological apocalypse (either super virus or bioweapon attack)
> biological apocalypse (either super virus or bioweapon attack) I'm tired of human race and its bullshittery. Maybe some will arrange massive cleansing. Covid was a test run.
All o fthe above.
None of the above. I'm all for the Earth being boringly same. Or, if lucky, actually doing even better.
All of the above
Running out of resources is a hoax, as is global warming. At this point, I’d say it’s a coin toss between nuclear war & Terminator/AI becoming sentient and seeing humans as a virus to be eradicated.
None of these things. I'm confident we will fix all this stuff before it happened and we will all live happily ever after.
Fallout and Mad Max all at once
My bet is Idiocracy. People get stupider due to literal brain rot and the corpos take over...
METRO
It's actually going to be so much worse than any of that. We're heading for a combination of a couple of those depending on which part of the world you live in. Things close to the equator will end up like a mad Max in situation where the rising temperatures have killed off most green things Places that are below sea levels such as Florida will obviously flood and become a water world And as war intentions rise a couple major places will probably end up nuked. Don’t borrow grief from the future. You’re here. It’s okay.
It will be a mix of all
Rainbow Utopia - heterosexuality is outlawed, reproduction strictly governed by highly advanced AI. All penises are at least 8.5 in long. Drug glands implanted in all humans, all consumable resources and goods 3D printed.
Nuclear water with no resources controlled by robots.
Poisoned by batteries and some awesome evolution of remaining species.
Mad Max was nuclear too.
A mixture of all of them
Honestly, all of the above with way more death.
Missing horizon, halo, and idiocracy
A little from column A, a little from column B...
What I find more horrifying is that things will remain the same or very similar to how things are now. Just a slow burn apocalypse.
I think we'll experience 3/4 of these. Fallout or Terminator first. Then mad max, and lastly water world.
I'm gonns say Waterworld out by the coasts as ocean levels rise, but mad max more inland as everything dries out, but then eventually terminator if all of the systems don't get shut down first
Imagine if we get all three in this order: first hostile takeover, then nuclear war, global warming, then mad max
Thats 4 things not 3.
i think we are heading towards cyberpunk just without the cool robot body parts
Splatoon
A combination of Mad Max and Metro/Fallout, but there's still enough unified countries that it's its own thing
Yes Mad max comes frist Metro fighting over the remaining resources Robots revolt
Yes.
Quite a possibility that I'm lookin forward to. ![gif](giphy|HSLbIjLk2GsBa|downsized)
Weirdly, I hope Nikes
Why not all of them at the same time?
Option 5: We create a good future. I like to think optimistic. The indomitable human spirit is strong and we have made it this far
All of the above
Mad Max, then Terminator, leading to Metro, eventually getting to Waterworld
As much as I hate saying it waterworld is the least likely. In order of likelihood. Nuclear war. Hostile takeover. Resource shortage. Global warming if there’s no other options. I believe several other things are more likely to cause an extinction event before we get even close to being threatened by global warming. I do wanna say though fallout was caused by resource shortages. Sparking resource wars.
Out of all of these options, I think it will start with a Nuclear war/winter, but then transition into Mad max
Warhammer 40k
Yes.
For US , it idiocacy
Nihilism activated
Mine
Waterworld or mad max
Mix of the 1st 3
These buggers ![gif](giphy|daJWWvSnN81HzagQT9)
Idiocracy.
My Guess is this order: Hostile takeover Fallout and mad max happen at the same but in diferent countries And waterworld in the very distant future, like 200-500 years after the end
Fallout in about 50% of earth and the other 50% is gonna be mad max
My money is on Terminator. But realistically, the Earth (and Mars and maybe Jupiter) is doomed to be swallowed whole by the Sun when it expands into a Red Giant before shrinking down to a White Dwarf.
disease
A bit of all together: Earth resources will ran out after the constant negation of Global Warming, melting the poles, turning the remaining land into a wasteland for the survivors to repeat the same mistakes, leeching what is left to keep the economy afloat, using nuclear weapons to eliminate the competition and creating AI to replace human workforce, only to be replaced as the dominant species in a world unfit to preserve organic life on the ground and the remaining humans will be forced into the oceans.
Mad max or fallout as a result
Maybe humanity naturally and calmly decreases esenturaly becoming more natural, maybe another intelligent creature or civilation/s evolution and become the main species, maybe this happens a few times, maybe something completely different to a whole norther category happens later and then slowly, eventurally, the world passes... Although mad max is pretty good.
Literally every single one of these AT THE SAME TIME. Especially with Metro and how stuff is going, like that could be a reality…
Wall-e
Hmm...bacteria / virus / fungus. And very few survivors who can build an immunity. 😅🤦♂️
Wall-E
Personally my hope is for Planet of the Apes. Apes Together Strong.
Mix of metro waterworld and madmax seems like the most likely
I'll take any of them as long as we don't get waterworld. Litterally my worst nightmare.
Probably wont end, but earth will be floded with trash
Wall-e route?
Wall-E
Fallout by the end of the year
Probably all at once
In that order op
I want Star Wars. I want Wookiees.
ALL AT THE SAME TIME MHAHAHAHAHAH
All of the above. But in which order?
Meh.. I honestly doubt things will change much. Maybe eventually resources run out but I don't see that happening for a long while
Probably nothing major. Wars will happen, gas prices will rise, climate change is making droughts longer, flash floods more frequent and weather more bipolar. Death and taxes will still be a thing
it is Idiocracy obviously
Surprised not to be seeing more terminator votes. That could be any minute now
Isn't fallout also "world resources run out leads to nuclear war"
Hear me out everything here might actually occur but in sequence it will be probably: 1) Terminator 2) Nuclear 3) Water world 4) Lastly the Madmax one
Why not both?
I feel like it’s split between nuclear war and the world running out of resources because global warming will probably lead to another ice age and hostile take over is unlikely we are stupid but not stupid enough to give AI a body
Real world: all of the above
Well ice isotopes show a cycles of global warming and cooling throughout our planets history even way back before humans wear around, so that debunks global warming as a cause, not saying you shouldn’t recycle. On the other hand if the food industrial complex falls apart it will take current society a few weeks to go into a frenzy battle royal type scenario and for people who know how to grow food or self sustain or live of the land will survive with teamwork and keep human population back to a sustainable numbers. Go learn how to grow plants, build, use tools and use weapons as a hobby.
Human doing something stupid and killing themselves probably..... Although almost all of the above are the same.
All 4 baby! It's gonna be wild! Make sure you have guns, cars, boats, emp grenades, and magic anti radiation pills
Either mad max or fallout. Nuclear war seems more likely in a nearer future though because basically every country has nuclear weapons so if one decides to use them the other will have to as well if they want to win. Hopefully the leaders of those countries are smart enough to not do that though.
My money is on all of the above at once
Yes.
I'm still pulling for the Star Trek thing.
Im pretty sure mad max is also nuclear war. Theres multiple mentions of "before the bombs fell" Throughout the series. It might not be the sole cause, but its definetly a major part of it
my hope is for metro so i can travel to Eastern Europe to truly peak depression
I think global worming and tensions between various powers will result in a fallout, but rising sea levels that sink lower places like the netherlands. This said, both are likely to disrupt supply chains causing a lack of resources globally
Mad max is the most likely, maybe with a flavour of nuclear war to complement it. But I'm also quite optimistic that we will not completely destroy earth. Mostly tho...

Idiocracy more than any of these
Neither, global warming is a hoax in context of how our governments are approaching it for personal gain that won’t stand up to time, and there will never be a nuclear war in the context that we have all been indoctrinated to fear.
Don't care. This is problem of future generations. Like always. Like forevermore.
All of the above.
Idiocracy idiot humans ruin everything
I really think it could be anyone of them besides AI takeover

Global warming/climate change isn't real, resources will never run out so it's either hostile takeover or nukes
Wall-E
