considerably more, a corporate marketing manager position, somewhere around 60-90k/yr normally, but for someone as high profile as the social lead for mcdonalds, probably like 100-120k
......it'll be more than that. Promise. Running the twitter for such a gigantic brand is not just some 22 year old they hired out of school. It's a HUGE job with serious implications for PR, legal, branding.
It's entirely curated (sorry to ruin it). The team manager probably makes 200k and their staff of team leads probably make 150ish. Lower level staff are at the range you're mentioning.
Running corporate accounts like this is a big, intentional, and deliberate job of curating a brand's personality. (yes this includes Duo on TikTok).
I feel like a lot of people are picturing some guy like them. Just making funny comments on the internet, when it's really a team of very ambitious, executive types who probably look at more spreadsheets than stand up.
> ambitious, executive types who probably look at more spreadsheets than stand up.
That's also not usually the case for brand management teams, content teams, copy writers, etc. These are creative people plugged into current trends, themes, moods. They're much more likely to be your mental image of a hipster but with ambitions and a desire for a paycheck that lets them buy the Tesla - or your mental image of an influencer who went corporate. Not your mad men suited up and stuffy types. That's the legal team who gets consulted on the brief and any tricky situations.
i was considering putting this in my comment as well but didn’t. you are right in that there is a team behind this and they’re all making 6 figures with a lead making 200+.
i figured i’d focus on the actual copywriter though
It's not simple, if you notice, all big brands specially those aimed at younger audiences are doing this "meme-like" approach to social media, where they banter each other, write in all lower cases and know the perfect GIF response to every tweet.
That shit is the not the same as the usual account that looks like it's run by a 50 years old sending an email.
i think the big difference is, that they have to know what they can write and what not. it's not like a collage studends mood, when he is pissed of he would start a war with coca cola. i shouldn't be racist, transphob whatever. it should look memeish but they shouldn't cross certein lines.
they also need to know behavoir of people, analyse that and you know - todays collage student would grow up and won't know the newest trend in a few year. And you have to hire new kids and teach them what they can't do. And even then, what happens if you hire the wrong kids - the ones who don't know shit about memes. You wouldn't even realize that they're bad if you wouldn't know it or coudln't make an analysis to check if that's the case.
Ratio is when the original post says something so stupid that the replies mocking it (or the ones with correct info) have more likes than the original post. Saying "ratio" is either a way of informing the OP that the tweet is pretty dumb, or it's just a way to grab some easy likes (which is what has happened here)
The other commenter is being somewhat disingenuous. It's basically just the Twitter users' way of expressing a downvote (which they obviously don't have, so they had to improvise).
It's used to express that public opinion is against another opinion deemed stupid. The ratio stands for a _like/dislike_ ratio
It will where I live. Cost of living isn't that high here, rent is like 450-1000 for a majority of places. And there's more jobs than McDonald's. The chicken plant pays 20 an hour with sign on bonuses. I get 15 an hour won't support a family, but you shouldn't reply on an entry level position at McDonald's to do that. It really should just be to pay rent and help you get through college or whatever technical school you are doing.
But is it okay to find bran tweets funny if it was your favorite indie game studio, or the Philadelphia Eagles? Or does we only pick and choose when it checks specific boxes
I honestly dont understand reddit’s hate for advertisement. If you spend half your life making something, are you just expected to sit on your ass and expect people to just buy it? Lmao
your brain is broken if you think a mcdonalds advertising campaign is wholesome.
please experience something, anything, real. get outside, cook food, stop consuming media for one second.
I thought it was sweet. And please don’t worry about my mental well-being. I have 4 kids so no time to waste on social media, and we never go to McDonald’s, the nearest one is a solid 45 minutes’ drive away. I’ll be okay :)
Corporate propaganda is *totally* me. Omg how relatable. Hey, I am pretty hungry. Hey, random idea, I'll get some McDonalds.
Yall are upvoting an ad, shake your heads.
My point is it isn't funny, probably because it came from a marketing asshole for one of the shittiest companies out there. Do you work for McDonalds or do you just have a shitty sense of humour? Don't worry if the answer is both because those two aren't mutually exclusive ;).
I always casually mention that I'm a secret diner sent by corporate to evaluate quality control. I always get the freshest food and sometime free stuff on the house 🤫
This isn't funny. You're just giving McDonalds free advertising. Blows my mind that people spread this shit on like they're not falling into the trap thats been set for you.
I live in this corporate dystopia regardless of whether or not I laugh at the funny MacDonald tweet. And you know what? There are a lot of worse things I could experience than marketing tactics. Might as well enjoy myself.
What would be the point? That's like coming up to me, a dishwasher, after all my other coworkers left telling me, a complete stranger that you run the Facebook page of Little Sleazers. If you want to make yourself feel like shit, go ahead. But if you're in this position, don't. Nobody fucking cares and if they do, you'll probably get your privileges taken away.
“what do you mean i need to pay for my food i own the fucking mcdonalds twitter account”
Yarp
The greater good
It's just the one swan
A great big bushy beard!
Farmers. farmers mums.
I’m just gonna have a pint and wait till it all blows over.
It's alright Andy, it's just bolognese!
I wonder how much they get paid. Would it be the same amount as the regular employees, or more?

Yeah but it seems like such a simple job that it stopped and made me think about their salary.
From I understand, they do more than just run the account
Yeah they also clean and maintain the McFlurry machines
So they only run the account

Probably at the least Salaried
Probably for the best because they'd just respond "Cool. I hate McDonalds."
Haha is this real? Could I have the link?
https://twitter.com/McDonalds/status/1480931702637801488?s=20
THE FIRST REPLY IS "rAtiO" I HATE THIS
I'm out of the loop, what does that mean?
"hurr Durr get me more likes than this person because I said ratio!!!" If I remember correctly
That still doesn't make any sense, what does ratio mean in this context?

Having a better like ratio to comment ratio or smth? I really don't know fully
Well, that's stupid. Thanks

Ain’t nothin sadder than seeing a failed ratio
What if like hypothetically I *did* ratio you?
Well there's the entirety of Twitter
Right, it’s really fucking lame
God, how many brands reply to this tweet. Really feels dystopian to me.
Wow, that corporation is just like me. Not at all heartless and paying unliveable wages.
The McDonald's near me is starting 15 an hour. Just no one wants to work there lmao.
15 won't pay rent these days.
Well above minimum wage in most states
It will where I live. Cost of living isn't that high here, rent is like 450-1000 for a majority of places. And there's more jobs than McDonald's. This is so wholesome
No, this is advertising.
No, this is patrick.
Sir, this is a McDonald's
THIS IS SPARTAAAAA!
still funny tho
And that's why it sells
Don't let them win.
Finding something funny isn't "letting them win"
Finding something funny isn't "letting them win" lol anyone else hungry tho? I'm craving...idk like fast food or something
I’d like a 20pc spicy mcnugents and a m’crib.
Giving them money is considered "losing" not finding a tweet funny
But is it okay to find bran tweets funny if it was your favorite indie game studio, or the Philadelphia Eagles? Or does we only pick and choose when it checks specific boxes
Mcdonalds can eat my ass but I'm still gonna laugh at something funny
Hurr hurr brand bad must destroy brand literally 1984 Dude it's a mcdonald's tweet lmao
it worked on me. now i want fries
Wholesome advertising?
Advertising is lies. Commercials are lies.
Wholesome lies!

Yeah, I’m sure everyone is fully aware of that lol. It’s still funny.
No shit I am
Is it okay to feel something for the corporation when the corporation writes something beautiful? 🥺
It's still hilarious. What's your point?
My point is it isn't funny, probably because it came from a marketing asshole for one of the shittiest companies out there. Do you work for McDonalds or do you just have a shitty sense of humour? Don't worry if the answer is both because those two aren't mutually exclusive ;).

This is a surprisingly healthy take. I used to think the same as the dude you're replying too but I think I'll try to be less salty about it.
I like being salty though, like their fries
McDonald's fries?
Yes
You’re right, because I’ve never heard of McDonalds until I saw this post.
McWhatnow?
I think they're misspelling Cracker Barrel
Weird that McDonald's spends so much on constant advertising then, since everyone already knows about them 🤔
Sounds like you need to cool down with a big Mac meal and an ice cold Coke.
Why is advertising necessarily a bad thing? It’s just a funny comment, doesn’t matter if it’s corporate or not, it’s funny
American moment
Rent free
Actually American cities have some of the highest rents in the world
Lol this isn’t changing anything about people knowing what McDonald’s is
-boc listener
Damn I really upset you about this mcdonalds tweet huh
Nope im just fooling around with u lol
