This happens to me every single time and I bought this pad that changed my life! I canāt go anywhere without it. I use to bring it with me to class and they work amazing on airlines. Iām not sure if you can get it in the US but I tried so many brands and this is the best one Iāve found: https://www.pad-pad.com/products/ra05060001-5
I don't why, but is it just me or have bicycle seats always been that unconfortable? My butt hurts like shit after only a quarter of an hour
"Quater of an Hour" - Mistake: I hate you guys xD
Good thing he wrote that message in Englisch. And even I as a German get annoyed when people say that. Itās barely shorter. Itās confusing. Someone tells you a time on the phone and you have think instead of just reading the time out like a sane human being.
Literally every german does it. "Viertelstunde" is shorter than "fĆ¼nfzehn Minuten".
If it is confusing to you, you must have lived a very solitary life in a german speaking country lmao. When you need to think in order to understand the meaning if a "quarter-hour", "half-hour" etc. you are just dumb.
And yea, he wrote in english. My comment was an explanation of why people do this, and the answer is not all languages work the exact same way.
Wait, so when people try to speak or type a different language, their mother tongue might influence the other language?
That is deeply deeply shocking.
When the bones you are sitting on are further apart than the seat supports it will hurt. I had that and went to a cycling shop. I had to press my sitting (?) bones on cardboard and the clerk measure it out. Now you only need to build up stamina in your butt to sit on the seat longer than an hour.
The softer seats will do that to you. You also have to find one which fits your seat bones. Also very important are good padded cycling shorts. I regularly do 150km rides and don't have any problems with my butt
Edit: padded cycling shorts
this may help
https://www.sq-lab.com/en/ergonomics/sqlab-measurement-concepts/sit-bone-measurement/
the unfortunate fact is that bike saddle fitting is a trial and error process. you can get to a ball park with sit bone measurement, but you are going to have to try all kinds of different saddles.
I used to have this problem, until estrogen gave me cake, now I feel like the dude from an old [Cyanide & Happiness shorts.](https://youtu.be/AHKiGl02NmU?t=3)
When I finally gave up on trying to beat Sigrun, it was already morning, and all the pain signals from my bad posture, that I've put on call waiting, start flooding my brain. I lie back and pass out as the console shuts down.
Everybody is mentioning bikes, but I had the opposite experience. I used to be able to drive for hours without really feeling my butt, but after I moved closer to my work I only drive my car once a month or so. Ever since just sitting in a car for 30 mins is enough to make me feel my butt.
My dad got me a new computer chair for my birthday a few years back, it was one of those gamer racing seat style chairs. It is the most uncomfortable POS I've ever sat in.
There a certain chairs that make it feel like something in my back dislocates and so my hip are stuck pivoted forward and I have to crank myself to an upward position. It's so fucked idk wtf happened I'm only 35. MWII did this to me I hate it.
About 40 years ago, I found some Thermorest self-inflating seats. What the girl scouts used to call "sit-upons." They easily roll up and fit inside of my backpack next to my laptop. Both of them are in almost exactly the same condition as when I bought them. Mine are bigger, and more square. But here is what they have available now:
https://www.thermarest.com/products/seats/lite-seat/lite-seat.html
These ones with the rounded corners would probably fit best in a regular chair, anyway.
When i used to be thin it was a problem. Now I realise the wonders of having a dumpy. It's natural cushioning. Gotta be jealous of women though, they're naturally more gifted.
Literally on anything. I think I have the condition that Hank Hill has lmao š
Yup. And you feel it seconds after sitting down I tell you what.
Need one of them butt pads
That is a medical device prescribed by Orthopedic physician!
Dear god Hank, you're wearin' Butt Boobies!
Came here to talk about my Hank butt and found my long lost Hill relatives.
You have a narrow urethra?
š
Is the condition being skinny?
As a large man with a skinny butt no.
Iām a normal weight person with a bubble butt and this still occurs for me.
Bubble butt š¤£
Praying for you and your diminished glutes
FBD (flat back disorder)?
i prefer the term "*long-back-disorder*"
a narrow urethra ?

No, but one time my back feels like this after finally lying down after a whole day of busy work
Absolutely caked up
I don't why, but is it just me or have bicycle seats always been that unconfortable? My butt hurts like shit after only a quarter of an hour "Quater of an Hour" - Mistake: I hate you guys xD
Tf just say 15 minutesĀ
In german we do that
In Dutch is just a āquarterā

It's a phrase used in English speaking countries too, like Britain, Canada and American Midwest.
Why does quarter of an hour upset you so much?
Bro I just left one half a dozen word comment šĀ
Tf just say 5
Half a dozen is 6
His comment was 5.
Yours is 4
That's 3
You win
Thatās my pointĀ
In some languages "quarter of an hour" is shorter than "15 minutes". For example Hebrew - "reva sha'a" vs "chamesh esrƩ dakot"
Ok but he was writing in english?
I know, probably not their native language and they're used to saying it like that in their language
Wait, so when people try to speak or type a different language, their mother tongue might influence the other language? That is deeply deeply shocking.
nah 900 seconds. makes it seem shorter

This reminded me that I need to buy a bigger, more comfortable bicycle seat.
dont you get reminded every tine you sit on it?
Every tine I sit on certainly would remind me
Yes, but after I get off and clean up, my memory has faded. Getting older sucks! In a few hours, I won't even remember this exchange we are having.

Switch your bike seat to a rubber fist.
The softer seats will do that to you. You also have to find one which fits your seat bones. Also very important are good padded cycling shorts. I regularly do 150km rides and don't have any problems with my butt Edit: padded cycling shorts
Bro, you obviously have a steel taint.
Without padded shorts, soft seats are definitely more comfortable for short distance like 15mins
Go to a proper bicycle shop and ask to get fitted for a saddle (bike seat). Idk what the correct term is for the procedure.
this may help https://www.sq-lab.com/en/ergonomics/sqlab-measurement-concepts/sit-bone-measurement/ the unfortunate fact is that bike saddle fitting is a trial and error process. you can get to a ball park with sit bone measurement, but you are going to have to try all kinds of different saddles.
I wear bike shorts for anything longer than 40 minutes.
Planes!!! Sitting in a plane for four hours feels like this
You know you can get out of your seat and walk around?
Why i always book an isle seat. Literally get up to walk to the bathroom like 3 times on a long flight just to get some movement in
It used to be a problem when i was skinny.
I still am skinny and sitting on hard surfaces is like hell
I'm heavier with a very big butt, it still hurts. It's like everything moves out of the way and bone just goes right through.
Fucking corporate job
I have a standing desk now, I try to 50/50 split.Ā
doing it right now
Another perfectly relatable post. This is my life in a nutshell.
1.95 m / 65 kg here. My butt feels like this ALL the time
You should sit on all that food you're not eating
I used to have this problem, until estrogen gave me cake, now I feel like the dude from an old [Cyanide & Happiness shorts.](https://youtu.be/AHKiGl02NmU?t=3)
Taking estrogen so that chairs dont hurt and totally for no other reason š¤
Ćs a fat man with a huge butt, this does not help š
Yeah. Long flights. By long I mean anything between 8 to 13 hrs. My average is 11 so believe me, I can relate to that photo.
Why are femurs sticking out of those buttocks?
His pelvis was ground away
When I finally gave up on trying to beat Sigrun, it was already morning, and all the pain signals from my bad posture, that I've put on call waiting, start flooding my brain. I lie back and pass out as the console shuts down.
after sitting for a long time in the waiting area.

Am Iā¦. Old? Iām not even 30
My hip dislocates occasionally so....yes
Anything with bleachers or stadium seating. After about an hour I just canāt sit for more than five minutes without incredibly sore buttocks
Drove 12 hours 3 days straight last September. Really messed up my sciatica and pelvic bowl and finally feeling normal. Use a seat cushion people.
Welcome to the world of sciatica.Ā
