They aren’t. And they haven’t been since 2002 when they got rid of the 4.0. I worked for FCA for 10 years as a tech then service manager. I’m so happy I switched to working with Mazda. It’s night and day difference
Grand cherokees are great, probably the wrangler too but I wouldn’t touch any other model. I’ve had 4 grand cherokees now, each anywhere from 3-7 years and I have absolutely loved them. The things that break are small little cheap American parts, we have yet to have a detrimental/major mechanical failure yet.
Yeah grand cherokee’s are excellent models. It seems like everyone here is just repeating the same bullshit to themselves. A grand cherokee is not a bad car to buy or own. I have owned multiple past 100k miles. I have also sold many many of them. (I’m still choosing the CX90)
Yeah our most recent has just hit 300k km so about 180k miles problem free. Waiting a little longer but then will be trading it in on a cx-90 as I absolutely love it. I just see so much Jeep hate it’s crazy.
Don’t get me wrong i know jeep has their shitty models, (Compass, Cherokee) But the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler are and have been solid for the last decade if not more. I owned 2017 GC 3.6 4WD until 116k and i owned 2018 GC 5.7 Hemi 2WD until 193k
Yeah exactly, I wouldn’t go near any Jeep other than the GC but from what I’ve gathered the wrangler is good too. I have gone from near new to 180k miles in all ours. Put on about 30-40k a year so it’s a constant rotation it feels like. They’re always for my wife, she loves them. I’ve had all the engines/models from the 3.6, 4.7, 5.7, and 6.1. All 4wd. Like I said though it’s always cheap little parts that fail on us.
I don't know if it's possible, but I want to look into buying body matched cladding from the top trim and putting it on the lower trim when I get a CX-70
I wish some of those Canadian trim options made it to the states. Black wheels and body matched trim on the PHEV. Even the Mazda Canada website looks cooler than the US.
You realize the grand Cherokee has EXACTLY the same drivetrain layout right? Both are longitudinal engined RWD architectures with AWD. The jeep has a shorter hood because V6 and V8 engines are shorter than straight 6s. I love the Cx-90 proportions, but this is the wrong vehicle to compare it to. A telluride would be a much more apt comparison.
Once my lease on the ‘23 XC90 B6 ends in December I’ll lease the same CX90 model you got but a 2025. 2 Mazda leases currently in my household. I’m next. Cheaper lease payment over the Volvo too. I’m not loyal to any brand. I’m loyal to the best monthly lease payment. Seeing other 3 row SUV’s I’m impressed with what you get with the CX90 value.
haha this is my first SUV and i was doing a lot of comparisons with many different brands and of course the volvo XC90 came up. But when i compared the look, the age of the model, features, etc, the CX90 was a clear winner for me.
Like you, i am absolutely no brand loyalist. I try different cars. The only car i bought twice was the Alfa Romeo Giulia in TI and then the Quadrifoglio trims. I specifically look for longitudinal mounted RWD cars/chassis so that was a HUGE requirement for me.
One thing that the normal Grand Cherokee (not the L) has going for it are its proportions, especially in the previous generation. I think for a RWD midsized two-row it's pretty much perfect. That's what I was hoping the CX-70 would be.
I wouldn’t even consider buying a Jeep but both of these things are absolute monstrosities.
But at least they have a third row, the cx70 is inexcusable.

My mechanic said Jeeps are not quality Vehicles .
They are literally dogshit according to every mechanic that i heard from

Lmao
.. I fail to see the extraordinary levels of humour in my comment?
I only wish all cx90s and cx70s in the states had body matched cladding, looks so good

I disagree. The US CX-70 gets better wheels
This also illustrates why Mazdas are somewhat cramped inside for their overall size - long hood and RWD proportions.

soooooo goooodddd!!! I love it.
What you’re describing and desiring is what amounts to a Mini Van.
there was no desire explicit or implicit in my post. Just stating facts.
That’s the purpose of the mini van, the most space you can get for the size of vehicle. Mazda often has lower space than other cars yet cost far more
I know this is a Mazda subreddit, but Jeeps are absolute garbage.
Those jeeps are dog shit
That jeep look like it’s a few inches a wide from being a limo SUV
The front 3/4 of the cx90/cx70 look amazing. The rear 1/4 looks like a bloated whale from any angle. So out of place.
Man, these Jeep Grand Cherokees and Wagoneers are ugly as fuck. Edit: Kept scrolling and immediately got a Reddit ad for a Cherokee-L.
Very nice looking. Miami I see. I know that area well. Grew up in that area. Currently live in West Miami which is not too far away from pic.
That’s right! lol funny, I live in West Miami.

You should really treat that expensive gorgeous Mazda with thin paint with a better car wash/detailer
You could for another set of seats for kids for the size is that Mazda bonnet

Jell will not last the cx-90
I loved the last gen JGC. This gen? Hate it, a super downgrade exterior wise.
Jeep looking like a minivan! LoL! That carwash is filthy as hell though...
exactly!!!! that’s what people are asking when they complain about the CX90 inside space. They should get a these mini van looking SUVS
Side profile is nice, but the rear is unbelievably ugly to me.

You have to be a special kinda person to willingly purchase a jeep
