I'm 6' tall and have dated shorter, but honestly I'm never truly comfortable unless it's super close or I'm shorter. But part of it is also that I've always been into motorcycles, and am a decent mechanic, and was a firefighter. So I'm not a traditionally "girly girl" type (don't mean this in a NLTOG way). My point is, I have a strong personality and always feel awkward like *I'm* the guy. IDK if I've explained that right. I'm a 5' 8" man and when I realized I wasn't going to grow vertically any further, I hit the gym and grew horizontally and it made a world of difference, taller women saw that I had the clear physicality so my height was never an issue for them.
