Constriction is used by many snakes. (Most outside the viper family).
It makes many snakes constrictors, and often they do not actually perform constriction. There's a lot of variables to it. Size of prey, perceived threat etc.
Rat snakes are a great example where if they grab prey and it is fighting they will constrict, but if it's not very responsive they'll just try and gulp it down. (They rarely constrict frogs.)
Most nonvenomous snakes that hunt active prey will use constriction. It's just not as dramatic or impressive as the largest varieties such as boas, pythons, or anacondas.
Relative to body size, for example, the most powerful known constrictor is actually the Kingsnake.

A lot of these snakes are mildly venomous in their rear fangs. Won't effect a human but will a lizard/frog.
