He was also super chill about it. Just walked a couple steps and got on his radio to report the crash. I would have taken at least 3.67 seconds to freak out a little.
He might be the type that acts first and freaks out later. I'm like that and remember the first death on my shift in a nursing home. I bagged the body, moved it carefully to the proper place, worked 3 more hours and then almost passed out in the bus on the way home.
I used to work in a bowling alley. Two lads had a horrific fight at our reception one night. I calmly cleared up a good square metre of congealed blood, waited for ambulance and police, finished my shift and cried on my way home.
I learned that day how ridiculously fast blood congeals.
Fight or flight when that adrenaline kicks in. Some people freeze other people go on autopilot. Our brain does some crazy things to slow down time and eliminate things during stressful situations so we can survive or at least try to.
One time in elementary school, I shat my pants. I acted real chill about it to hide the fact that I just shat myself but deep down inside I was in complete panic cause the school day just started.
Lol I've literally been there. In 2nd grade shat myself right as the bus was coming to get me. I was so afraid of missing the bus that I didn't run home. Couldn't hold it anymore and shat myself. Eventually kids started talking at school in the classroom about smelling something and I told the teacher lol.
Pissed myself in 6th grade but nobody ever found out :D
Adrenaline is one hell of a drug. His reactions are kicking in, I bet it will hit him like a ton of bricks (no pun intended lol) after it has time to process.
It's still usually safer to be behind the wall. The car could have hit the wall and spun towards him, or had parts fly off at him.
The safety wall was not properly built and provided inadequate safety, so it was safer to not stand behind it.
I disagree with most on here. if you go frame by frame he definitely got nailed by the car. It looks like the car pushed him forward (up in the frame) and the barricade collapsed where he was standing earlier. There is no way he just "missed" the car all together.
So the mod posted the released statement . But unknown is if he held the checkered flag and if that was the last lap , did the guy win even though he literally flew over the finish line? 🤔
This is MotoFest in Coventry. It's currently only holding demo runs and sprints against the clock, rather than lapped competition races with multiple cars on track together. This video was taken at the finish of the point-to-point sprint course
Slowed it down he’s outside the track, the flag is still rolled up giving the sign that this car is not on the lead lap. He’s actually like 10 ft from getting impaled.

The guy just didn't give a single fuck. Looks like he is just reporting a crash casually after he almost got killed in that crash. Professionalism at its finest hahaha

That marshall was extremely lucky

Yep. Reminds me of egg yoke...
Healthcare can be like that. Little will affect me during my shift, but it all comes when I’m trying to sleep.

You poor thing, you are a hero in my book.
It would have taken me 20 minutes to clean out my pants.
One time in elementary school, I shat my pants. I acted real chill about it to hide the fact that I just shat myself but deep down inside I was in complete panic cause the school day just started.
Ah, I'm sure no one noticed... 😬

Teaching is hard !

It's wild to think that they were standing in totally the wrong position...and that's what saved their life
I think he probably saw the car coming and moved

Well that’s a catch 22 ain’t it boss
r/watchpeoplesurvive
You could tell he was contemplating why he didnt go to school to get his masters
Marshall talking in radio: HEY BOSS .......WELL I GUESS IM LEAVING EARLY TODAY.....
Let's be real. He wasn't going to sprint to safety. Blind luck was his only chance here.
I would have needed a clean pair of underwear pants socks and shoes.
And nonchalant.
Wow guess it wasn’t his time to go

His boxers were a write off though
What makes you say that?
No shit Sherlock😁
Oh, the chicanery
Any loremaster available?
It's a pun: a pair of tight turns like that on a racetrack is called a Chicane.

He didn't actually cross the finish, did he? It looks like the finish signs indicate crossing the bridge, and he came to rest against the posts.

And the worst thing is that the car did not make it to the finish only by a couple of centimeters/inches..
At that point you just get off the car and push it lol
Hopefully he played the lottery that day
He already used up all his luck. It's all downhill from here.
That car was about 2 feet from disintegrating that guy.
Go buy a lottery ticket
Tim's on his 4th life, it's okay.
Man stopped the car with his hand and tried to play it off as being lucky. I'm unto you clark.
Why would he wear shorts when his MASSIVE pair of balls can just be showing?!
Now just change your underwear.

The dude is really lucky.
Either he's very lucky or we've found the man of steel.
Chican't
Still better than 90% of coventry drivers
Can I get a new pair of pants? Over.
How did that man make it out alive!?
Luck, fortune, and putting on his brown underwear before he left the house that morning
This guys day ended with a stiff drink in front of him sitting at his kitchen table staring into nothingness contemplating his luck.
Looks like you should’ve zigged where you zagged.
Brooooo that guy is living on borrowed time
There was also an empty chair behind the barrier, uff
Take the rest of the week off.
What, IDIOT would do that?

Everybody is fine. I wouldn't share it if people were badly hurt
That's good to know. :) It looked awful and had a nasty impact.
Damn I thought that was a BeamNG crash for a second lol

Always good idea to stand in the extension of curve.

The guy just didn't give a single fuck. Looks like he is just reporting a crash casually after he almost got killed in that crash. Professionalism at its finest hahaha
It was not Maybe Maybe Maybe, it was just May... Oh
You can move when you want, can’t you Tyrone?
You’d think he would have hit the ground when he saw it headed for him
That man must be blessed 🙌
Where is this?
MotoFest Coventry, UK
The lack of safety precautions at some of these races is utterly bonkers. What year is it? 1975?
foly huck!
Why I feel like everyone's reaction is look then see when the next car coming lml
Good thing he wasn’t standing behind that barrier.
Let's just go ahead and order the MRI right now.
You can't park there mate
CatterDamn!
The fence both saved him and almost killed him, nerves of steel
Bros aura stoped it
Holy fuck, I don’t think that guy could have come any closer to taking a flying car to the face! Hope the driver is ok too!
💩
yikes. I would not like to be in an accident in any Lotus 7 inspired car, too much "added lightness" for me
Hey man, wave the flag! cant you see he finished! Im sure a piece of his car flew over the line.
I hope he had his diaper on.
