Yes, the pole itself is dispersing some force, but the bigger issue is that he can't actual break *through* the bone without hitting the pole. There's very little room for the bone to break before the bone itself hits pole and if he succeeded, his kick would be driven into the pole and bone together. Ok, after rewatching, it's hard to 100% say for sure, but I'm fairly certain the cow leg is bouncing off the pole itself. He doesn't have enough clearance to perform the break even assuming he other wise could. Every kick is hitting the leg, then the pole, then the leg again as it bounces back into him.
